@marcy, it’s great that the roofers actually came early and the observatory is really coming along. I’m sorry to hear your hand is bothering, and yes, it’s time to see the Dr and see if anything can be done.

So glad you got a replacement ring you’re happy with @MamaBee, are you still wearing Emmy much these days. I hope everything is going well with you, and things are on an even keel.

Yikes @canuk-gal, those are some seriously cold temperatures, you must be made of strong stuff Glad it’s a balmy +3 degs today, we’ve gotten soft where even high 60’s feels cool now. Should be fun going with your friend to get her upgrade. Some of the thrill of the hunt, without the hefty price tag.

I hope everything went well today with the RT @missy, and it yields results. Do try to rest up, you never know how these things will affect you. Glad you got in some fun walking this weekend, that’s what I really miss living here. We had so many places we could walk with Dottie back in England, but nothing like that here.

We’ve been out walking just around or development, it’s a couple of miles round trip, and there are a few houses under construction, so we have a nosy to see how they’re getting on. I went out walking with L next door on Saturday, and Colin and I went out yesterday. We FT with our friends yesterday, they’ve had non stop rain for the past few days, so are pretty fed up.

Had a quick trip to Costco this morning, didn’t buy much, but spent a small fortune.

6 monthly dental check ups tomorrow, I’m having a small filling replaced, it’s come to the end of it’s life.

@Austina thanks. It went fine. It's the cumulative effects I am concerned about..those who have undergone this say that burning, peeling and blistering can happen week 2 or 3. I am moisturizing and hoping for the best. Thanks for your well wishes

Good luck at your 6 month dental. I go every 3 months but for me it is necessary as I build plaque so fast. This keeps my gums healthy knock wood. My mom has had periodontal issues and so far I have managed to avoid them but I definitely got her genetics. I have worked hard to get my gums in the shape they are...of course now with RT they tell me no vibrating tools in the hands and well my toothbrush is electric and does a much better job cleaning my teeth than I do manually...conundrum. I tried using my left hand and no go

@canuk-gal yay for warmer weather...snow might be coming here mid week (Wednesday to Thursday) and I pray it doesn't impact my RT as the protocol calls for 5 days in a row of radiation. Fingers (haha) crossed the weather does not stop any of us from getting to where we need to be and doing what we need to do. Enjoy your milder weather Sharon

Hello everyone else. So first day of RT went fine. They were running a bit behind and we got there early (long distance so we have to leave more time just in case)...it felt like a long morning. Then we got home, I worked out (modified workout due to the RT) and then we ran errands...it was cold but not freezing (low 40s) and sunny. I was tempted to go hiking but nervous about the instructions to avoid cold and hot. Seeing the oncologist Wednesday and will see what his thoughts are. He is so conservative though so I think he'll say no to hiking for now (because of the cold temps mainly) But maybe he will surprise me.

We broke a TJ record for us...spent over 200$ there. Usually we spend under 100$ but I guess we were low on many supplies that we get at Tis. Like cat treats and such You can see the back of the car is loaded with groceries all from TJs





Today we are leaving even earlier as my RT appointment is at 8AM so hoping traffic doesn't mess us up but leaving over 30 minutes earlier than the GPS says we have to. I wish all of you a terrific Tuesday...enjoy. Stay warm. Be well. Love you. XOXO


Leaving you with Princess Gracie who kept my lap warm all night as we watched movies on the couch. I recommend the movie " The Father". With Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman. Both were excellent in this film. It was so good. A stunning film IMO. Let me know if you watch it and what your thoughts are. I rarely recommend movies so when I do it's because it's recommend worthy

It went smoothly. Besides the over two hour trip and accidents everywhere. I was thankful we left super early because otherwise we would have been late.

I’m hoping tomorrow’s weather won’t impact the treatment because it’s supposed to be 5 days in a row….fingers and toes crossed

@canuk-gal good deal your weather improved. It’s decent here this week other than wind. Oh to going to Tiffanys. One day a week for work sounds perfect. I’ve been suffering a bit from low motivation. Mostly because my wrist and computer mouse aren’t getting along.

@Austina it’s fun to go see how new construction is coming along and what they are doing with the house plan. We did that a lot when they were building out our street in our last house. I am glad the dentist was okay - other than the associated fee.

@Inked stay safe with the snow storm.

Not much new going on with me. That tiny 1/4 inch bump on my wrist is utterly Gordon Ramsey words loudly at me. I tried Aspercream on it today but that just agitated it. I got a few shots of the moon and Venus tonight. I like my new lens.

@Austina thank you I appreciate your well wishes...fingers crossed...your trivia games sound so fun and I wish I could join (though I am terrible at trivia lol I still enjoy playing). Boo to a huge dentist bill but yay for getting your teeth cared for...critical to good health. Speaking of dental Greg's looking into PPO health plans for me because once he retires and goes onto medicare I have nothing. Turns out in NJ PPO plans are few and far between and insurance brokers are not that well versed in PPO plans. Greg thinks Aetna might be one of the very few PPO plans here so we shall see. It's scary for me because it is important to choose a plan that will cover my specialty meds which are too expensive to pay out of pocket. I already POP for many of my meds because it is affordable to do so but some of my meds (Dupixent, Pancreaze, plus the remaining RT I have next year) will be too expensive to pay out of pocket. Greg is now planning to delay his retirement because of the medical situation and that makes me very unhappy. It's not fair to him. Ugh what a mess. But one day at a time and we will figure it out I know we will. Have a good day Austina and stay well.

We are sure to lose power out here and praying the generator kicks in because my Dupixent must be kept at 36-46 so cannot even take it outside should power fail as it's too cold outside. Anyway enjoy a terrific Thursday and hope work and life in general are all going super smoothly for you. December is such a festive month but can be stressful for so many..my hearts go out to all who are struggling.

@missy I hope you don’t get much snow. What a worry about insurance. It’s all a mess anymore. Aetna does have PPO because we had/have one with them. Marty’s company dropped the plan we had for next year. Maybe that’s a sign I should get to the doctor NOW. They offered a basic, a PPO and a PPO buy up for employees. They are dropping the buy up plan, reduced all the plan benefits and increased the premiums. Such fun.

@Slickk stay safe from the snow storm. As @canuk-gal said, good luck with your work related issue.

Strangely, Wyoming has had a lot of wind but very little snow so far. But careful what I wish for - Mother Nature might say “here, hold my beer.”

I ventured to the big city to get a haircut today. I lifted and decided to skip lifting since my tiny little spot of my wrist was yelling at me. How rude.

GM girls, just a quick post and dash. Wishing all of you a very happy FriYAY!!!!

@marcy the insurance situation is a nightmare in NJ...turns out we cannot get the PPO plan...Greg is still working on figuring out this mess.

And speaking of insurance it is creating havoc with my treatment frequency. Instead of overlapping my hands (doing right and left hands at the same sessions) I have to do each one separately so 20 visits instead 10. SMH. Most who have this done do both hands at the same time.

Turns out this oncologist won't deal with the insurance companies so just takes the path of least resistance. Initially he told me due to adverse effects he does each hand separately. Well the truth came out Wednedsay when we met with him.

So for two days we have been trying to get the insurance codes to contact cigna so perhaps we could do overlap with the right hand second treatment and left hand first treatment so instead of 20 we can do 15 treatments. But my goodness it was like pulling teeth with the oncology department.

It's a long trip and stressful for me having these treatments and to think the time could have been halved but for the oncologist not to want to be bothered. Frustrates me to say the least. But all I can do is the best I can do.

My main concern is to get RT on both hands before more contracture happens (like it already did with my right hand) and delaying treatment of my left hand because of this upsets me.

They could have told us the truth and we could have contacted cigna months ago. My dh's company is self funded so we might have been able to make it happen. Ugh. Now he probably won't retire next year because the whole insurance situation is super difficult.

I wish I had gone into a different career where I would have had health insurance for life. But who chooses a profession based on that when one is in their teens?? LOL. OK off my soapbox but I am fed up with health insurance in general as I know many of us are...

Good deal little snow for you...as for snow and wind we have the same situation...little (no) snow but OMG huge winds and freezing cold. We woke up and went to feed the ferals earlier this AM and no one was there and I am worried. But yes it was 20 minutes earlier than usual. Still. Praying they are all safe and warm enough. We have three shelters for them but unsure if they are using them. One was purchased by the sweetest PSer too. If good wishes can save them these cats are safe. But we all know good wishes can only do so much. Sorry I am just worried about them.

Yay done with RT for this year! And another good update Cigna agreed to cover simultaneous treatment so I have to wait for the RO to get back into the office Tuesday and tell him so he can authorize adding my left hand to the right hand treatments in February. Fingers crossed he’ll agree. He told me Wednesday he would if insurance approved coverage but unfortunately he didn’t put it in my records so now his assistant has to wait for him to return to the office next Tuesday. But hopefully he’ll do this for me as he promised

Hello lovelies

That you can get both hands done at the same time @missy. These insurance companies, Oy! Honestly, I did read years ago that people were only joining the military for the medical benefits. Makes sense now, when they charge you a fortune and make you jump through hoops to actually get treatment. My medical insurance is about 10 times what I paid in the U.K. We’ve changed to a different provider this year.

I’m sorry that work is so stressful @Slickk, I don’t know how you do it. I see too many examples of poor parenting, resulting in nightmare students for the poor teaching staff to deal with. On a happier note, how is your precious grandson doing?

Get the appointment made @marcy before the company drops the insurance altogether! Small mercies that it’s ‘only’ windy and not snowing. Brrr, it’s actually cold here, but nothing like you or @canuk-gal have to put up with. Keep safe and warm.

Busy just getting pre holiday stuff done, I like to be organised, so packed the cases this morning and ticked everything off the list

Girls., I am very excited but nothing is definite yet. Greg and I went to Catsbury park to see the rescue kitties and fell in love with one of them. OMG I was not intending to fall in love. This cat walked right up to me, put his head on my arm and started purring up a storm. Just waiting to see if we are approved to adopt him. I cannot believe it but if it happens definitely meant to be

Girls, happy Caturday Saturday...no word yet about the adoption so that is not looking good. Perhaps someone else put in to adopt him before we did..anyway I am pretty sad about this because we both fell in love. For Greg to say he's ours and we should adopt him (while having four cats at home already) is a big deal. Trying to put it in perspective but I feel devastated right now. Cait (the person in charge) always replies within a timely fashion. I emailed her at 3PM yesterday and she has not replied.

Ok Rhys is home. The rescue group had their holiday party last night and didn’t check emails til this afternoon. They told us Rhys is ours and so we got him home just a little while ago. Jasper is such a beauty. We had a wonderful kitty named Licorice who looked just like him. So glad you were able to bring him home. You are so good to all your fur babies. He couldn’t have ended up in a more loving home.
