Now I really did it :((

@missy Congrats! Jasper is quite a handsome man, that expressive face just looks like he is letting you into his soul. I love a black cat, we used to have one and he was such a personality! How are you going about acclimating him and the other cats. I would love to add another to my household! =)2

Thank you!

We are not going about it the conventional way because when we separated him he would not stop howling. So we are letting him roam freely but he’s hanging out right now in the bedroom. I’m leaving the door open which I usually don’t do since Greg and I have allergies to the kitties but this takes precedence. I’m a bit nervous because of what happened with Oliver and ringworm. But Jasper was with the rescue group two plus months and everything was fine. Hopefully that will remain the case

Conventional wisdom is to keep them separated for two weeks. Our house is all open space but for the bedroom. We have two playpens and tried that last night but he just wouldn’t stop howling. So hoping this doesn’t prove to be a disaster

Jasper is such a beauty. We had a wonderful kitty named Licorice who looked just like him. So glad you were able to bring him home. You are so good to all your fur babies. He couldn’t have ended up in a more loving home.

Thank you so much ♥️
I’m not feeling confident because I forgot how challenging introducing a new kitty to all our other kitties is but hoping it all works out. We’ll do all we can to make everyone happy

Hot off the presses

Good morning girls and happy marvelous (how did you get here so fast) Monday!

He’s sooooo happy with his new digs and fur mom @missy !!!

He slept with me all night on my arm and neck. I actually slept well for the first time in a long time. He is such a love.

However the other cats especially Oliver and Gracie are having trouble adjusting and none of them are getting along. I am worried. And Jasper is not eating much. Some dry no wet and ugh I hope everything works out. There is a chance it won't with 4 other cats. I LOVE Jasper so much already but if they cannot all get along we will have to reevaluate. I know it takes time but it is distressing at the moment. Complicating matters I have to go into the city today (basically all day) and do some pulmonary testing which is long trip each way. So we will be out of the house many hours and I am worried leaving everyone.

Hello everyone else and have a marvelous Monday. XOXO

OMG what a beautiful baby!! I know how tough it is to acclimate a new kitty, so with your open area its probably harder. Hopefully everyone gets along soon!!!! OMG, what a precious baby. I will always think black cats are the smartest and most affectionate! I had a black cat when i was in college and he thought he was a dog. He went everywhere with me.

I am so excited for you, you deserve some comforting right now!!!!

Also, 2 more days... or, i guess 3 for it to be with you!

Good luck with the testing, and hopefully in time they will all settle. Hes a boy yes?? Being a boy is helpful. I always tell people, you can have one girl and 22 boy kitties no problem... But 2 females??!! forget it, very hard.

thats where the term "catty" comes from, lol, the girls have trouble getting along!

Good luck with your tests today!!

Thank you !!!!!! And I am very very excited for Thursday (hopefully)!!!!

We are taking Jasper in this evening to our local vet despite the fact we are seeing my sister Saturday for an exam. He had tested positive for roundworm in April/May and the rescue person told me he then was treated and tested negative but I do not see that in the records. Plus they only treated him once and parasites usually need more than one round of treatment to eradicate. So we want to repeat parasite testing. The stool sample we got however was from 5AM this morning and will be over 24 hours old by the time of our appointment this evening. I read that won't be good enough but he isn't going to have another BM this afternoon. I am just too anxious to wait til Saturday and this way at least the local vet will have seen all our cats. I am exhausted. Could be from the treatments catching up to me but we also have been so busy. Just got back from the PFT at Columbia. Never fun for me to do the PFT. Glad it's over.

Hope you had a terrific weekend and all is well and your week is going smoothly!!!
XOXO

Edit. Omg. My brain is mush. The stool sample will only be slightly over 14 hours old. Not over 24 hours old. I am definitely not thinking clearly. Greg was the one who gently informed me of this fact. All day I was upset it was over 24 hours old. SMH. And LOL

And I actually had a good night’s sleep last night!!!

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy love your new kitty. I hope the kitties all get along well soon. I think insurance is becoming harder and harder to get. We are pretty screwed on home insurance living in a high fire area. That is kind of crazy you can’t get your hands done at the same time. Drag it out longer isn’t reasonable. And that’s pathetic it’s something the doctor doesn’t want to deal with and didn’t tell you. Update: I’m too lazy to do that again. I am so glad you got approval to do both hands at once. And yay for being done with RT for the year.

@Austina shows you want I know about medical coverage in the UK. I thought they had free medical there. It’s always a good idea to shop around for better insurance. I have been doing exercises with my wrist and it’s improved. Not gone, but better. I’ll give it a few weeks to see how the PT does. We are getting snow tonight. It’s like it’s December in Wyoming. I saw your area had chilly weather. Nice to get your packing done.

@canuk-gal I hope you had fun at the office party and birthday lunch.

@Slickk how fun to see your grandson every weekend. I hope your cold is better.

We had a quiet weekend. Marty did get some stuff off the countertops and installed on the observatory on Saturday. One of the guys from the gym was over here helping him for most of the day. Sunday, he’d had enough and watched TV for about 1/2 of the day and caught up on his work and scheduling. We did get the Christmas tree up and I got my Snoopy village put up. It’s spread across a few places, but it works.

I pulled on the cord to pull up the Roman shade in my office on Sunday and the entire shade came crashing down. It hit all the prisms I have on the window sill that were on cheap plastic stands. I screamed like a little girl. Prisms are okay but the cheap acrylic stands, not so much. We called the blind company today and he came over and - as Marty predicted - the guy who installed them screwed them in to drywall, not a 2x4. All three braces were not in a piece of wood. Made me nervous the rest of them of like that. He had to use longer screws to hit a stud. They also ordered a replacement shade because the end of the rail broke off. Such fun.

We’re have snow tonight.

Looks like we’ll only have 12 here for the family Christmas. That’ll be easy but I’m still ordering pizza. The day before Marty is having his gym over. That’s usually about 2 dozen people that come.

I ordered myself pink sapphire studs today for Christmas. I was looking at a vintage platinum band, a lab created baguette platinum band or a teddy bear pendant, but realized since none of them were really pegging my Iwantthatometer I decided on pink sapphires. I forwarded the email to Marty and let him know “here’s what you got me for Christmas.”

Take care.
Marcy

@missy How's the menagerie today? Hoping things are progressing and Jasper had a good check up last night! =)2

HI:

Any kitty up dates?

cheers--Sharon

Good morning lovely ladies and happy wonderfully rainy Wednesday!

@marcy well not sure yet as the radiation oncologist did not yet schedule me and his assistant was supposed to contact me yesterday about this and she did not. We are dealing with other bigger issues atm so I did not try getting in touch with her but I am tired of false promises. Healthcare sucks. No two ways about it. If you are healthy it's great but if you have medical issues be prepared for big challenges getting what you need. Unfortunately I know you get it all too well. Oh no to snow. I hope it all melts fast. We are getting downpours today and right now too and no feral cats met me this AM due to the heavy rain. OOOh I cannot wait to see your beautiful new pink sapphire studs. SWOON!!!! Purrrrrrfect XMAS gift!

He is sitting on my lap purring as I write this

Everyone is getting along a lot better. Not purrrrfect (haha) yet but I am hopeful

Unfortunately Jasper is positive for ROUNDworm (not ringworm thank goodness) and now we have to treat all the cats. And I am concerned about the humans (me and Greg) because he is all over us. He puts his tush in my face and kisses my lips. Obviously I was stupid. Now we are in for it.

Long story but we saw the local vet Monday evening and he tested him and treated him with the first treatment prophylactically (before we got the results back)...but according to my sister (who I trust) the local vet gave him an ineffective med so we are making the trip to see her Saturday and we have to treat all five cats.

This is not fun and I have guilt over exposing our cats to yet another health issue. UGH And waiting til Saturday is stressing me out. I already lost a pound I cannot afford to lose but I cannot help feeling stressed.

I know enough to know roundworm can cause scarring in the retina in humans and stress our cats physical well being. But Jasper is a great cat. So loving and so gentle and he is a gem despite roundworm which obviously isn't his fault. The rescue groups are just too cavalier about these things.

When we adopted Oliver (different rescue group) he gave everyone ringworm and they offered nothing., That was a huge nightmare as you may (or may not) remember.

This should not be as terrible but I am concerned nonetheless because we have elderly cats and as I mentioned it is a zoonotic disease. Ringworm doesn't cause permanent harm but roundworm in humans sure can. Jasper is still sleeping with us as my sister said it is fine and I do not want to upset him and cause him to lose his loving warm disposition. Doing the best we can under the circumstances but waiting til Saturday (no choice unfortunately) is making me more anxious

Thank you for asking

@Slickk cannot make this stuff up lol

@MamaBee hope all is going well

Hello everyone else. Have a good day and be well. XOXO

Oh no about the round worms @missy! When we adopted our most recent rescued cats from the shelter they both had Giardia and had to be treated twice to get rid of all the parasites. The medication made one of the kitties lose her appetite near the end of the second treatment so we made the decision (along with the vet's permission) to cut short her medication. Because it was the second round of treatment the Giardia did get eliminated, thank goodness. Can your sister dispense the correct medication for you with knowledge of the results of the stool sample? Waiting until Saturday seems like a long time and more risk for you and the other cats getting roundworm. Glad to hear that the cats are starting to warm up to eachother! Your boy Jasper is so handsome!

Unfortunately we have to get the med from chewy and it won’t arrive til next week. She sent the rx in already but that’s the bottom line. The local vet administered strongid to Jasper and according to him one more treatment will eradicate it. Debbie says no. That strongid doesn’t work well. But in the meantime Greg’s picking up more strongid syringes to administer to our other cats. If Gracie will comply. The local vet won’t do emergency visits so we’re on our own. He absolutely refuses to administer it to our cats because he has no time in his schedule. It feels we’re up against a roadblock everywhere we look. But doing the best we can. Glad you were able to successfully treat your babies ♥️

Sounds like you have a plan and it's good that Greg is picking up meds for the other cats. It's a tricky situation when there are other cats in the household to consider too. Good luck with all this! ❤️

It’s a funny (and stressful) situation. My sister telling me one thing and the local vet another. I trust my sister but want the local vet to be right about strongid being effective. The local vet warned us we can get infected and my sister said unlikely. So in that case I want her to be right. This is a mess and the saying no good deed goes unpunished comes to mind

I don’t like your local vet. I think I remember you don’t have a choice..but sheesh…You would think he would be on call all the time if he cared for pets!

Oooh! Pink sapphire studs sound so pretty! I can’t wait to see them! I love pink..:kiss2:
I searched for two years to replace an Art Deco channel set baguette band. It was the right width for my engagement ring..It also had elongated baguettes. I was so upset..I think my husband threw it out when it was drying on a paper towel.. Long story short I found one a few weeks ago. The jewelry store sent me additional photos, a video, and answered numerous questions. I took the plunge and purchased it! It’s not what anyone would call eye candy..but I’m so happy it looks EXACTLY like the one I lost. I have a Tiffany baguette band but it’s wider and the baguettes are kind of a square. It sounds crazy..I know..It’s also my Christmas present. I’m wearing it now..:kiss2:

He found his mom..:kiss2:

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy I sure hate to hear you have such hassles with insurance. And yes, it pretty much sucks these days. I’m waiting to see what happens to our home owners next year with the “fire danger” area we live in. That’s the entire state. Our prairie is crunchy 6 months of the year. Good luck with your radiologist and I hate when they don’t get back to you. Oh no to ringworm. I hope it hasn’t spread and you and Greg are okay. And the other kitties don’t get it.

@MamaBee I have a pink sapphire ring I really like so I know I’ll enjoy having the matching studs. You can’t see my earrings because of my long hair, but I know they are there. How sad you lost such a lovely baguette ring. I think they are classy looking cuts. But I love a happy ending that you found another one. Pictures? I bet it’s gorgeous.

I survived being in another livestream video today. It was talking about meteors though, so that was fine. I’m working on figuring out how to record audio on Keynote, Ugh. I don’t want to be on camera, but guess I’m heading that way. I’ll be part of those historical records on Demolition Man. Ha Ha.

My earrings should show up tomorrow. I’ll be good and pass on the box to Marty.

Take care.
Marcy

Good morning and happy terrific Thursday lovely ladies!

@marcy OMG no. It's roundworm. Not ringworm. Let's get that out of the universe please LOL

Glad the livestream video went well and woohoo for your earrings! I have no idea when I might be getting something I am waiting for but know it is worth the wait...please share your photos of your gorgeous new earrings when you can. I love pink as you might know. My favorite colors are blue, then pink. Then black and white and gray. :)

Did you get snow?

@MamaBee awwww we love Jasper so much and none of this is his fault of course. The rescue groups are just overwhelmed and overworked and that's the way it goes. Oy to the vey. Our internist does not want us to take any anti parasitic meds unless we show symptoms. I wanted to take something prophylactically but nope. The blindness as a potential adverse effect scares me yanno? Hope you are having a good week and I cannot believe Christmas is around the corner...I think Hanukkah is the day after? I don't remember. I think it's late this year. The jewish calendar always confuses me. I like things the same day if you kwim lol. Wishing you and your family a happy combined holiday

@Slickk good morning...yay it's almost friYAY and almost the weekend and yay for the good update

@canuk-gal hello, hope all is going smoothly by you

Good morning @Austina hope the week is going well and you are enjoying

Hello everyone else. Yesterday was a whirlwind like every day. The treadmill repairman came and had to order parts and I am not allowed to use that one so luckily I have the backup treadmill but I sure hope it keeps working until the newer one gets fixed. I do 10 miles a day on it and would miss it if I could not especially with the weather being too cold to workout outdoors.

Enjoy a terrific Thursday lovely ladies XOXO

Leaving you with Jasper's baby photo at five weeks old. He is a LOVE. He likes to sleep on my arm and neck all night and I love it. I won't love getting parasites though so fingers crossed that does not happen. Have a great day girls

Missy,
I’m so happy for you that you got to adopt Jasper. He is where he was meant to be! I’m just popping in to say “ thank you” for something you posted awhile back. You talked about getting some outdoor cat beds with plug in warmers for your feral kitties.
We still have one ( from 4 originally) and have always tried to care for them to the best of our abilities. When I saw those beds I knew I had to try one for our 11 year old feral.
It was easy to assemble, sturdy , warm inside , and she loooves it! Just wanted you to know that you have helped a cat many states away. We get cold weather too and our animals aren’t really used to it. I’m spreading the word to my neighbors with outdoor cats, cuz who know what this winter will bring to south central Texas this year ( winter 2021… just sayin) .
Happy Holidays !

Hi NIRDI's!

@missy neither type of worm sounds like fun. Sorry that happened. We didn't get snow but the hurricane force winds continue. I swear I am going to start naming them and see how many times I go through the alphabet in 2025. That'd be funny. I'm sure you'll get a great Christmas present. I guess we are both getting new iPads tomorrow. Marty needs one, I don't. We are heading to Colorado to get them. We'll probably visit our favorite kitchen store and steak house. I hope they get your treadmill working okay. Jasper is a cutie.

@jeaniefish nice to get a bed for your outdoor kitty. My sister has one she feeds and lets stay in her garage. Her cat and the feral stare at each other through the storm door.

I started my day researching a complaint on a story I maintain that it was full of errors. Out of the five complaints, one was valid. There was an incorrect statement in a 2023 article. I fixed it. The others were I have no idea where that info came from. One of the biggest problem is it's 2025 info and the source I am supposed to use is a book that comes out for next year in November. So when I update things after they expire, I use online sources and hope they are accurate. Out of about 20 posts I went through today, more than half were fine. Some were off a minute or two. But it took a while.

My earrings did arrive. Marty was outside so I decided to open the box and look at them. I was about ready to take pictures and he came inside. Oops. I wrapped it all back up and put it under the tree. I asked for friction backs since they came with screw backs. Strange, they have friction ear nuts but the post is screw back. It pushes on and off though. I tried them on while Marty was at the gym tonight. Ha Ha.

Take care.
Marcy
