Good morning girls! Happy August 1st and happy birthday to all the Leos.:appl:

Marcy please keep me posted re your eyes and eye appointment. I am sure it isn't anything serious. Are you talking about floating wavy lines or waviness when you look at something? Feel free to contact me of course -I am here for you in any way I can be. Yes, I agree. Laughter is the best medicine for feeling down or negative or angry but sometimes you just have to let the negativity run its course to let the laughter in...laughing feels so much better than crying or being angry that is for sure! One thing I know about me (and probably a few others here including you) is I feel emotions very strongly. Not only my skin is sensitive but my emotions are too I guess. Too strongly at times but I am the way I am. Hmmm isn't that Popeye's theme song? LOL. I'd rather feel emotions intensely than feel nothing at all.

I am sorry Marty has bicep tendonitis. I think Greg had a sort of tendonitis a few years back or was that bursitis? It was one of the itis's lol. Sending healing vibes to your dear Marty and hugs to you sweet Marcy.

Austina Another Leo baby here. Roooarrrrrr.

PierreBear sounds like you and your dh enjoyed a lovely active weekend. Sorry you got a rash but relieved for you that it is so minor a rash. You and Kristie are in the coveted baby rash club lol.:P2 Wish my rashes looked as sweet as that but then again mine isn't a heat rash. No biopsy results yet. Fingers crossed whatever it is won't affect my life adversely and that it isn't a serious diagnosis. Thank you for asking. Greg just this minute removed my stitches. And all I can say is Ouch. He has a gentle touch but man my skin is super sensitive and super annoying. Grrrr.

Going home tomorrow! But just wanted to stop by and tell you what most of you know! Missy - and Greg - are the nicest people in the world! Big hug from the chipmunk family!

Awww thanks Scandi. We enjoyed being your hosts and tour guides yesterday and your kids are sweet. I know you said to post any pics I wanted to from our day yesterday but since I sent them all to you I am going to let you do the honors if you want to share any other photos of the day. I will post only bling related photos. Bea with your ring (does she have a name by the way?) and one of you wearing your new bling. Have a safe trip back.

Rainwood, bling was but a small part of a very full and long day...we spent less than an hour (or maybe just about an hour) at Adam's you will be pleased to know. But it was a worthwhile and satisfying hour believe me. :bigsmile:LOL we have many many other interests besides bling though I realize that is a large part of what we talk about here being a diamond forum and all.:halo:

We covered a lot of NYC ground (5.8 miles according to my iPhone) and it was definitely over 90 degrees much of the day but we were all troopers and the humidity wasn't terrible). We rode a NYC ferry, saw the Statue of Liberty and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and the NYC skyline etc. Then we visited the 9/11 memorial and waterfalls, the Bull and The Fearless Girl statues and showed them the real NYC Wall Street. Greg took charge against pushy tourists and clearing the clutter so they could get photos everywhere haha. And we visited a cheesy (but the best cheesy according to Greg) NYC tourist shop where they collected souvenirs and then we brought them to a classic NYC restaurant with old New York charm. No one left hungry that is for sure.:lol-2:

Oh and yes Scandi did snag a real jewel(s) on the trip...my favorite pick for her and in fact Adam didn't even have them out to show her as they didn't fit the initial specs/criteria she gave him of a total of 2 carats. These were 4.02 carats See above...my photos don't do them justice. OMG 4 plus carats of old world perfection for sure...So glad she went with them because it is truly a drop dead gorgeous pair of OECs. I mean just AMAZBLING!!!! And I am thrilled she fell in love with them too because they are IMO one of a kind superstar earrings.

Hope everyone enjoys their Tuesday!:wavey:

Hello lovelies

Oh my goodness, I've just had to wipe the drool off my iPad :D Those earrings are stunning @Scandinavian, and yours and Missy's rings just look fabulous together, a true meeting of bling babes! Wishing you a fast and safe journey home.

I'm not surprised to hear that you all had fun together and that M&G were great hosts. Even though I'm a newbie here, I just knew that would be the case.

I do like to cook @marcy, not necessarily every day meals, when it's sometimes a struggle to think what to have, but when we have guests, I enjoy feeding them, especially when they clear their plates and there are no leftovers.

DS eats lots of meat because of his training programme, and your post reminded me of when he was leaving home and DH was going over his budget with him. The small amount he'd budgeted for food literally had us rolling with laughter. He'd seriously underestimated how much he was costing us to feed him! He soon found out. Our food bill halved overnight when he left. The lady at the checkout asked if I was doing the month's shopping, and was surprised when I told her that was what DS ate in a week:eek2:

Sorry to hear about Marty's tendinitis, I understand it's painful and can be stubborn to heal.

Are you drinking enough fluids, DH had floaters a while back, and the eye specialist said, in his case, it was caused by dehydration?

Wow @PierreBear You really are a superwoman, I felt tired just reading about your Ironwoman training. Happy belated birthday. Heat rash is really horrible, I used to get covered in it, but fortunately I don't seem to be too affected by it now.

I hope you haven't melted @azstonie Our friend's in Phoenix go to Lake Tahoe every July for 6 weeks to get away from the heat. It gets hot in Tx but I don't think as hot as Arizona. We were in Scottsdale one April, and that was plenty hot enough for me, the golf carts had coolers, and there were course marshalls driving round to make sure people had fluids. The plus side was the ground being so dry and hard, I benefitted from my ball bouncing and travelling further :D The downside was it was hot enough for the rattlers to be active

Those biopsy results are taking their time @missy , I like to always think positively until I know differently, so I'm sending lots of positive vibes across the ocean for a good result.

Great photos as always, hopefully if Scandi doesn't post, she'll be happy for you to post more.

I had some good news yesterday, someone else I'd contacted for a quote got back to me. His price was what I expected, and the bonus is that the price is based on platinum settings rather than w/g, my preferred option. Just waiting on him finding a platinum chain, then we're good to go.:appl:

My earring will look like pinpricks compared to Scandis, but they'll be perfect for everyday wear:lol:

Have a great day, and a big wave to anyone I've not specifically mentioned :wavey:

Oh goodness ladies… I didn’t anticipate my leg/rash shot to be so large. Pardon me! Yesterday, I did quite a bit of indulging. Pizza for lunch. Birthday cake for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A coworker of mine baked her famous Italian cream cake and it was to die for. It’s something that I would go buy at a bakery. She’s a rather talented lady! I’m going to be good today in terms of diet.

@azstonie – Glad to get confirmation that it’s a heat rash. Sometimes I second guess myself that there is something more severe going on. It is getting better though!

@marcy – Porsche driving school? Is this a school that teaches you how to use your vehicle to all of its capabilities? Or is it more about drifting and taking tight turns? I’m intrigued! Sounds like you would have a blast if you joined in with Marty from time to time.

DH and I have both never been to LA and San Diego so we will do all the touristy things. The main purpose is to see family and their new lives there. Escaping the Texas heat is a plus. Be out in nature and do some camping. Yes, and visit Singlestone and the other stores ya’ll mentioned out there. Oh and we are going to try a Michelin star restaurant, which will be a treat!

Sorry to hear about the bicep tendinitis. :cry2: I’ve heard that those cortisone shots are effectively but hopefully it will heal with just the reduced weights and Advil. I hope this next statement comes out well as a compliment… It’s unfortunate that his biceps are hurting but Marty must have the biggest guns to work out so hard to overuse his biceps! He must be so fit!

@Scandinavian – Save travels back home! Wow, those earrings!

@Austina – Glad you got a good news on the quote. Can’t wait to see the end results.

By the way, you mentioned your DS is on a training program. What is he training for? Boys eat a lot for sure! I’m guessing this isn’t the DS that lives in Austin?

@missy – Loved reading your post on what you did with Scandinavian and her family. It’s hard to know what to take people to see in the city that you live. Some people like touristy activities and other people just want to hang out. Sounds like you did it all. Way to go with hosting!

Hello to all the other ladies I might have missed or are just reading along! :wavey:

Hi everyone!

Missy, your day with Scandi and her family sounds wonderful and you and Greg were fabulous hosts - you guys really covered a lot of ground and squeezed a lot into one day! It's so nice Scandi was able to visit you before heading home. Love the gorgeous bling pics, wow, such a joy seeing all those big beautiful diamonds  Love the poem you wrote for Scandi! :appl: Beautiful sentiments and I whole-heartedly agree with everything you wrote!

I'm hoping your toe is healing, or at least not getting any worse! I hope you hear something soon on the biopsy and that it's nothing serious.

Austina, It's nice of you to be a committee member for your spinone organization, I'm sure your help is going to be greatly appreciated. It sounds like it shouldn't be too bad! The meal you made for your guests sounds really delicious, you've made me hungry lol. Thank you for your kind words about my watch. I'm thinking I would like to get 1.60 ctw studs, so .80 in each ear. I want to go large enough where it's worth my while lol. I'll probably just go with 4 prong basket settings. I do like the look of 6 prongs but I wonder if they'll overpower the diamonds. Great news about finding someone to reset your diamonds at a reasonable price. And in platinum too, that is terrific. Looking forward to seeing your new pieces!

Marcy, I'm sorry to hear about your eye! Eye issues are so concerning. I really hope it turns out to be nothing. Thanks for the nice words about the watch, I'm enjoying wearing it. WF diamonds are beautiful and such a no-brainer in terms of cut and performance; it makes the purchase easier and less stressful. Thank you for your thoughts on AGS as opposed to GIA excellent. I'm trying to stay within a certain budget but maybe I'll splurge, just have to see if dh agrees haha. I'll check out IDJ too. I hope Marty's shoulder feels better after he follows the doctor's recommendations.

Calliecake, I'm really sorry about the cancer diagnosis. Such a painful situation and really hard on everyone. I'm so glad your sweet grandniece brought you comfort and distraction from the sadness and worry. I agree that being around little kids does lift the spirits.

Sharon, thank you girlfriend! Another example of how PS is very bad for my bank account lol :P2

Scandi, Happy belated Birthday to you!!!! I'm so glad you were able to meet Missy, what a wonderful way to wrap up such a great trip! I absolutely adore your new studs!!! Old cut goodness at its best! Omigosh they are big and beautiful and look AMAZING on you - now this is what I call a souvenir! Hope you had a good trip back home and are settling in well.

PierreBear, oh don't I wish I could go for earrings to match my age! Yeah, I love bling but I do struggle with the price tag o_O Wow, the ironman competition sounds very intense! A great goal to work towards and I wish you all the best with your training. Nice that you and dh have an activity you can enjoy together. So glad your leg issue cleared up. I totally agree with you - there's definitely a tendency to think "more is better" but once in a while I think it's a good idea to give our bodies a rest and take it a little easier for a bit. Yum to birthday cake and pizza! Two of my favorite things :D

Kristie, we bought the watch from Jay Roberts jewelers, an authorized Cartier dealer in our area. The salesperson who helped us was great, not pushy and very patient. We got a decent discount as well. It was a pleasant experience and a fun day.

We accepted an offer on the house, so we'll see how it goes. Yesterday was a crazy day - lots of phone calls, I was exhausted from it all ha! Need to focus on clearing out the house, we've made some progress but much more to do. Also working on helping my brother find new housing. A hectic and stressful time but I'm plugging along and just trying not too get too overwhelmed by it all.

Hope everyone is having a good day so far!

Lots of love from us

Missy, sign me up for the G & M tour!! That sounds fantastic (except for the 90 degree heat). You all are troupers!

Scandi, the chipmunk family looks as cute as can be. I love the sunglasses picking out on your heads!! And 4 tow studs. Totally fabulous.

Junie, fingers crossed the house sells this time and love the Cartier Tank Francaise. I also have one and should wear it more often, but it actually looks better on you than it does on me.

K, we're getting your heat this week. Will be close to kissing 100 degrees. Never used to happen, but now it happens at least every other year. Climate change, indeed.

Callie, sorry to hear about your dad's wife. It's hard to watch and go through.

Austina, sounds like you're having lots of fun with Spumoni and all her fellow.

Marcy, girl you better watch that speed or we'll be having to spend bling money for your bail!

P Bear, if you're training for Ironmans, you are seriously hard core. You have my admiration.

I know I've missed some of you, and I apologize but I have to leave for an appointment. Should not have started to post but the cuteness and bling overload from Scandi and Missy was just too tempting.

hi ya'll....

Marcy, I wish i had a Cartier watch! But alas...no. In other exciting news, my DH said he wants to come to your place for the total eclipse of the universe. and the following party. But I told him that Marty shoulder hurts and that would be imposing soooooooooooo nocando. :mrgreen2: Notwithstanding I am severely allergic to road trips.

I am happy to complain that it is very hot this summer. Record temps. Lots of outdoor exercise for us! But the lawns look tired.....

:wavey: to NIRDI's. Fun pictures and happy times!

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDIs!

Scandi, fabulous earrings. I totally laughed at your family photo. I can sure tell you are all related. I had no doubt that Missy and Greg would be fabulous hosts. I hope you are home and resting up from your wonderful trip.

Rainwood, it is pretty humid there when it gets that hot? Funny you mentioned my speeding; I was going 104 mph this morning. Again it was only that last minute burst when I get past all the traffic and it’s an open shot to my turn. It was really fun! I have to admit I’d rather call you ladies to bail me out than Marty. I nag at him about speeding all the time.

Missy, you are so right about sometimes you need the sadness, anger or negativity to run it’s course. I am kind of angry today, just irritated at my employees and a few other things. I would say I see wavy lines with I look at straight lines; it’s just in one eye. I notice it at more at work. I’ll let you know what I find out. It sounds like Greg is over his tendinitis now so hopefully Marty recovers too. Ouch to having your stitches pulled out but I am sure Greg pulled them out with TLC. Crossing my fingers and toes that your biopsy comes out fine. Fabulous photos of Bea and Scandi’s ring and Scandi’s earrings. It sounds like all of you had a terrific time while showing Scandi and family the sights.

Austina, I am sure your guests love their dining experience since you cook up such a feast. I bet your DS quickly realized he needed to budget more for food. I almost hate to go out to dinner anymore because Marty usually orders to large filets; it’s like there is 3 of us eating now. I know when Marty is in LA more than here my food bill plummets. I have heard tendinitis is painful and can be stubborn to heal; I hope Marty lets the area heal instead of pushing it. I do drink quite a bit of water but I can try to drink more. Thanks. I’ve heard about the snakes around golf courses in Arizona. I’d scream like a little girl. Woo hoo to getting a better quote for setting your diamonds and in platinum. Sweet. I only recently ventured in to platinum and I want more.

PierreBear, I am glad you indulged for your birthday and the cake your friend made you sounds delicious. It sounds like you had a great day. They have different levels and classes for the Porsche driving school. You can pick classes and different cars. I’d pick my car and learn how to drive it. I am sure Marty would go for one of the faster sports cars and a more advanced class. It would be fun. Your plans for LA sound really fun. Marty is fit and definitely has big “guns” from working out. I was so proud of the Christmas card I got him; it had 2 snowman on the front. One of them had sticks for arms and the other one had logs; inside it said “so I see you’ve been working out.” He definitely works hard at it and takes it very serious.

Junebug, I can see why you are enjoying your watch. I really like it. I am sure any of those vendors can find you a gorgeous pair of diamonds for studs. I decided to go with super ideal cuts for my ering, my studs and my pendant because I am obviously persuaded by PS talk and I knew I wasn’t ever going to upgrade them so I just wanted to make sure I got what I wanted in the first place. I am hoping Marty follows the doctor’s instructions too; sometimes he thinks he is invincible. I am glad to hear you accepted an offer on the house. Good luck getting everything cleaned out and I hope your brother finds a place soon.

Sharon, well maybe someday you can add on of those Cartier watches to your beautiful collection. I bet you and your DH to get somewhere where the eclipse is total. I keep having people email me about where they can go. Marty found a U-haul utility trailer today to take up our large tent and his scopes. He said his 20” scope doesn’t seem nearly as heavy now that he is working out. I hope it doesn’t irritate his shoulder lugging it around though. If you are allergic to road trips as long as you can get to my house we are watching the eclipse on NASA TV, stepping outside occasionally to check it out with glasses and ordering in pizza. Way more comfy than the woods.

We had burgers on the grill, salad and oven fries for supper. I even cooked for a change.

Marty has a new boss. This one is in the UK again. He has been with the company for a while but Marty hasn’t met him before. The boss he was under was pretty indifferent to his employees and irritated me by not approving his employees expenses. Sadly 2 trips are still under his name and he still hasn’t approved them. I am sure Marty is SICK of me asking.

My 2 favorite employees were getting on my last nerve today. At least one of them is going to be off tomorrow. That’s a bonus for me.

Have a fabulous evening.
Marcy

Good morning girls!

Junie congrats on accepting another offer and I hope it goes through without further ado and it goes smoothly. New chapter of your life soon beginning and one less riddled with stress and aggravation I hope. (((Hugs))).

Austina Wow to cutting your food bill in half once your DS left home. OMG that is one way to save for retirement. Yay on your bling quote being reasonable and your new creation about to come to fruition and double yay for platinum. That is always my preference if the cost is doable. Fingers crossed you are very pleased with the outcome. And yay for helping out the Spinone organization!

PierreBear the ironman competition sounds so intense and you are strong and athletic and I am very impressed! Don't worry about your heat rash as that will clear and it will come and go but without consequences. My suggestion is as you are competing or just enjoying outdoor activities in the heat douse yourself with water and it really cools you down as you are riding at least as it evaporates. We use the water from our water bottle and just fill up at rest stops. It might alleviate some of your heat rash. It is cool that you compete in such challenging events. You go (fellow) Leo!!! Leos are tough cookies and loyal and generous too. What can I say Leos are the Grrrrrreatest. :mrgreen2: Happy (belated) birthday and glad you enjoyed a delicious feast. Hope you are celebrating all month.:appl:

Marcy We would be more than happy to bail you out and I think the closest NIRDI is Kristie...yoohoo Kristie....now you must stop going 104 miles please! If we are to bail you out let it be for something like a huge diamond heist OK? NO speeding. That is too risky. Diamonds I understand. Need for speed I even understand but better on the water where there is less chance of crashing or having a blowout. NIRDI GTG on the water as soon as we get the NIRDI yacht together.8-)

Glad one of your "favorite" but annoying employees is taking a day off so you can have a day off from being annoyed by them LOL. I hope Marty's new boss in the UK approves his trip budgets more quickly and that he turns out to be a better supervisor than the others.

When is your eye appointment again? Can you just move it up if possible? Cover your "good" i.e. non wavy eye and then look at a paper with lines and tell me what lines are wavy. I know it is most likely nothing but I think it's best to just get dilated as soon as you can to make sure nothing is going on in the retina. It is just odd if this happened all of a sudden and best to get it evaluated sooner rather than later. And I don't want you to be alarmed as I am just being conservative that is all.
(((Hugs))).

Rainwood you got it-G & M tours open for business when you visit I promise.:sun: Fingers crossed the weather is mild but no matter the weather we will make it work. I can almost guarantee (but not completely haha) it won't be in the 90s Fahrenheit when you visit me. Hope your appointment went well yesterday afternoon.

Rainwood and Kristie and Callie thank you guys. I really appreciate the way you came to my rescue when you were concerned. (((Hugs))).

Sharon it's funny you are allergic to road trips. I am allergic to flying lol but enjoy road trips as long as it is in the comfort of my car with my music and refreshments and we stay in nice lodgings each night. Sign me up. And I think a Cartier watch (Ballon Bleu perhaps?) would be fabulous on your wrist...

So my doctor's nurse called me yesterday and the biopsy results came in and it is what my doctor suspected. It is one of the progressive (I don't like that word in medicine) pigmented purpuric diseases though the biopsy wasn't able to narrow down to which specific disease it belongs. I read a bit about it and hopefully it won't interfere with my life and activities. There is a wide variety of progressions so I am not certain about anything but right now I feel calm and OK about it because at least it wasn't something worse. I am seeing my dermatologist August 22nd and will ask him more about this group of diseases as he hasn't told me anything about it. I asked the nurse yesterday if I could still cycle etc and she said yes and that if my symptoms become worse that there are treatments (i.e. corticosteroids-NO to that for many reasons and photo therapy so I will explore the latter with the doctor when I see him). Thank you all for your concern and caring.

Sorry about the large print but mid post it switched to tiny and I could not recover the "normal" type print. Does this only happen to me? I think my posts are way too long and the PS forum is like no too long let's make the print tiny so she stops typing...:P2

Have a great day girls!

Hello hello! I started the morning off right with a nice run in the morning. But then had a scare this morning. You can laugh at this newbie but I almost lost my 5 stone band down the drain. I finally got rid of the ultrasonic machine and did have a stone loosen up slightly so I’m on the woman powered toothbrush band wagon. It was a bit too sudsy and it just went tumbling towards the drain. I should have had the sink plug in but didn’t think about it. Shame on me! :shifty: Stayed calm though and got a pen to reach the band and luckily pulled it out instead of it going further within. I have my e-ring insured but opted not to do the 5 stone. Perhaps this is something I need to reconsider.

Making some ribs tonight and having a friend over for a meal. Just doing it in the oven and keeping it simple. DH has a smoker but honestly the best things that we’ve made in there was brisket and other things like ribs/chicken just isn’t as good or worth the time sitting in the smoker.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

@junebug17 – Good luck with clearing out the house and getting ready for the sale. It’s overwhelming but part of me liked the opportunity to look through old items that may drum up memories or at least give me the option to also say that I don’t need these anymore and to donate. Hope you find some peace in it and make good progress!

@marcy – What an adorable Xmas card you found for Marty! It made me chuckle just picturing the image in my head. I’m sorry to hear that he has a new boss but doesn’t seem to be putting forth the extra effort to approve expenses. Hopefully he will have a change of heart though and treat Marty well.

By the way, I flipped through the diamond book that you have. I intended to read it but it was too much of a nonfiction that I couldn’t get through it and just skimmed the topics. May I ask you your thoughts on one part of it? Towards the end of the book the author discusses that a company did a study for Debeers that their projections of diamond supply will be less than diamond demand in 2018. I know it’s just a study and it doesn’t even clarify if it’s new emerging markets (India/China) or any details but it made me nervous. If I’m in the market for an OEC within the next two years, should I be shopping for it now if we have the funds for it? Perhaps fluctuations I suppose would still impact old cuts but I would think less so compared to the more common stones? Any thoughts you have, I would appreciate!

@missy – Thanks for your kind words but don’t be impressed yet. I’m just training and haven’t done the full event yet but hope to get it under my belt soon. I’m not one to put a tattoo on my back/leg so it will just be my internal badge of honor of just doing the best that I can and doing more than I thought I could ever do. I’ve tried putting water on myself but the downside is the wetter I am, the more I chaff. I made a mistake in a race as they were handing out ice. I put it down my sports bra and everywhere but my legs were rubbed raw.

OH gosh so sorry to hear about your biopsy results. I’m glad you are feeling calm about it but I’m so sorry about the medical issues but glad that you can still cycle. Pleae keep us posted and hopefully the dermatology visit will provide a good solution.

Hello lovelies

I'm so sorry you didn't get the result you were hoping for @missy but I know you will find a way to deal with it without it impacting your life too much. Life is full of challenges, and your positive attitude will get you through.

Ooooo the earrings sound great @junebug17 and size wise will be perfect, so they won't just be special occasion wear. I've come to the conclusion that I'd rather have things I'll wear all the time, than some of the pieces that I only wear seldomly, beautiful as they are. Everything crossed that the house sale goes through smoothly.

Sorry work and colleagues are so aggravating ATM @marcy, hopefully Marty's Brit Boss will be more accommodating, which will be one less stress for you.

 @PierreBear thank goodness your ring didn't get flushed right down the drain. My DS in Austin isn't in training for anything specific per se, but he has his own home gym and works out everyday to keep fit and healthy. When he moved into his house, he kitted out his gym before he got furniture :???:

It's been raining most of the day here, we did manage to get to Virginia Water before it started, but the rest of the day has been a washout.

I posted this elsewhere, but I thought you might like to see our little visitor yesterday:D

IMG_1930.JPGIMG_1929.JPG

Big :wavey: to @rainwood @canuk-gal and @Scandinavian

oh, no @missy just read about your biopsy results. Damn. I'm sure you were scared to ask about cycling. I'm so glad to hear you will continue to be able to do that.

Hi everyone else sorry to keep it so short.

I'll be back soon.

Hugs.

Hi NIRDIs!

Missy, I am sorry to hear about your biopsy. That is good to hear the nurse said you could continue cycling. I hope they find a way to control it for you with minimal changes in your life. Big Hugs to you.
I looked at some lined paper and it seems to happen more with peripheral vision and when I move my eye I see the lines kind of curve. I’ve been noticing it on the floor tiles at work because they have black lines around the edge. Looking at these several rows of typing it looks like the middle from top to bottom kind of pinches in a little most pronounced on the lower left about 1/3 of the way in. I hope that makes sense. I have been noticing small things are harder for me to read. Distance with both eyes is fine. My eye doctor is on vacation this week but I am going in Monday.
LOL for bailing me out for a big diamond heist. One time some lady ran off from the mall with a diamond valued at least at $10,000. She had the sales lady go in the back to get a tray of setting and snatched the diamond and ran. She was tall, thin with red hair so everyone was teasing me I used a good disguise.

PierreBear, OMG what a scare with your 5 stone ring. I am glad you were able to retrieve it okay. I had some US cleaners and ended up getting some loose stones so threw them out. Marty told me that would happen but no I wouldn’t listen. I soak mine my cleaner every day and use a brush on them if they get smudgy. I also have a steam cleaner but only use it on prong mounted pieces.
Yay for a nice run this morning.
Ribs sound delicious. We have friends that have smokers but most of the stuff we’ve had out of them weren’t anything special. One guys never seems to get his stuff done very well. I am sure that makes a big difference.
I googled buffed snowmen and that card came up so I’ll post it. It’s pretty funny. Marty’s former boss is the one who was bad at approving his expenses, hopefully this new boss will be better for him.
I haven’t read that section of the book yet. I can’t say I know how the market will go or if there will be a change in supply and demand but that made me think of tanzanite. 12 years ago they were saying you have to buy it now because it is so scarce and you’ll never be able to find it again and if you do the price will be astronomical. I still see it around and prices are about the same. As for buying your OEC now or waiting; there is no time like the present if you have the funds for it now. My thoughts on that is why not enjoy it now? Of course I am a sucker for new jewelry. I know I’m an enabler.

Austina, I’m with you on just having pieces of jewelry I’ll wear all the time. Sounds like your DS and Marty would have a lot of talk about - gym wise. Cool. What is that critter? It looks similar to a porcupine.

Hi CJ!

I saw a report from work last night indicating an error we had for this weekend so I got up early and made it to the office about 45 minutes early. Based on my tendency to speed that turned out to be a good idea. I saw several officers along my route to work and I heard that 4 of the people on my floor alone were stopped on the way to work and one of them got a ticket. I was behind slow people all the way in so they probably saved me getting pulled over by some flashy red lights. I told one of Marty’s buddies that I can’t imagine how many text and pictures Marty would be getting if I was pulled over. His phone would be going ping, ping, ping.

Although the smoke is bugging my allergies (lots of forest fires in the west) the sunsets are sure pretty.

Take care.
Marcy

Here is the cover of the card I gave Marty. It's better than one I gave him for his birthday a few years ago. It say Happy Birthday to my husband the golf pro and inside it said from your wife the super model. :lol-2:

Hello girls!
Home safe and sound! Just a bit tired today, the air is out of the balloon I guess, LOL.
So just wanted to say sorry Missy for that biopsy result, but kind of relieved it was nothing worse. Callie, I'm so sorry about your dad's wife. Must be hard on you all.
Marcy, hate that about the travel bills. Really not fair. Great card!
Will be picking up the new puppy tomorrow so need to clean the house now and remove anything chewable...
Hugs!

@marcy (supermodel) - Great card!!! Love it!

@Scandinavian - just catching up with this thread. I saw the earrings and the bling pics!! Love them. Hope you will create a thread for the studs. They are just fabulous!! Looks like you all had a great time in NYC. I love that city.

@Calliecake - I am so sorry about your MIL. I hope your family is holding up. That is hard. So many of our family members have been struck by that too. Hope they can all be supportive of each other.

@missy - I'm so sorry about the diagnosis. You are handling it so well. I am staying tuned. Sending you lots of healing vibes. And so glad you can still cycle.

@Austina - is that a porcupine??

@PierreBear - Phew!! Glad you saved your 5 stone!

@junebug17 - I had no idea you were selling your house. I hope it goes through. I know how stressful it is. And I love your new Cartier. It has convinced me I need a new watch, something different from what I have. Honestly, I want something easier to see...

@azstonie - How are Maggie and Finn?

@canuk-gal, @CJ2008 @rainwood - Hi:wavey:
So sorry if I missed anyone. I'm just reading this page to catch up.

Good morning girls!

PierreBear oh no and thank goodness you saved your 5 stone band. OMG that was a heartstopping experience I know. Sorry about the chafing with the water. It really helps cool me down when I do it but I never do it over my chest. Just my legs and I just started it last week but so far no chafing and it seems to make the hot rides more comfortable. However this is while we are on the recumbent so it is a probably totally different and I guess where I pour the water I don't have a friction point whereas if you pour it over friction areas you will chafe. Good luck with the training. We are all rooting for you!!!

Marcy OK good so Monday it is. You might just need an updated prescription. Thank goodness you made it to work without any speeding tickets LOL and sorry you had to go in early to fix others mistakes but maybe it saved you from an expensive ticket and points on your license. Oh no to the fires and breathing issues. Be safe. But glad the sunsets are so beautiful. Thank you for the hugs and (((hugs))) to you too. Haha love that card.

Austina Oh my what a sweet baby! Is that a porcupine? I am in love! I want to kiss and hug him/her but probably that wouldn't be a good idea I guess...:P2 Thank you for sharing his/her photo. Precious!

CJ2008 thank you sweetie. I posted in your feral kitty and also flea thread. Thank you for doing everything you can for the feral kitty and please hang in there. I swear you are doing so much good vs walking away because you feel inexperienced. I still feel inexperienced re the ferals but know we are making a better life for them even while learning as we go. (((Hugs))).

LLJsmom welcome back home and woohoo on your newest acquisition and masterpiece. It is a dream piece for sure. LOVE.
Good luck to your sweet DD too. I am keeping her in my thoughts.

Scandi enjoy your new puppy and your next 2 weeks off work. Nice life. And please don't forget we need photos of your new earrings from Adam@oldworlddiamonds.:sun:

Thank you all for your good wishes re my latest diagnosis and I am keeping positive thoughts. No one knows what the future holds and we also don't know the specifics of which pigmented disease I have however one thing I do know is I have the love and support of my dh and my NIRDI girls and I will take it one day at a time. Thank you all and (((HUGS))).

Have a good day girls and stay cool.:wavey:

Hello hello! I hate to start off the day with negative thoughts but I did another run today and though it was only 3 miles, my leg was hurting/stiff from the very start. I guess the run I did yesterday still caused that injury to start up again. I’m a bit confused though on what’s causing it as my run the past Saturday didn’t seem to bother it at all. Yikes! Hopefully with more rest and rolling out the muscles, we will be able to still do our trail runs/hikes as planned in California.

Oh I forgot to mention that I did tell DH about my 5 stone scare. I asked him if we need to consider insuring that little guy or if it was more of a freak accident. It was late and right before we were going to bed but all he said was "well it wouldn't happen if the stones were bigger." hahaha... not at all what I expected him to say but I guess my stories are rubbing off. DH knows I enjoy jewelry but was also pretty passive about overtime he's slowly getting more and more excited about planning for this future upgrade ring. Just curious for ya'll NIRDI ladies, how involved is your DH and does he give pointers on settings/size/what looks best on your finger? I think I'll still have to rely on ya'll ladies for more guidance though it is nice to see him show interest.

@Austina – What a cute porcupine! He’s a large critter! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in person before. Looks like you were able to get pretty close so he doesn’t seem to scare easily? Appreciate you sharing the photos.

@CJ2008 – Hello! Saw your cat posts on your other threads. Hope that is going well!

@marcy – Thanks for sharing that background on the tanzanite. It puts me more at ease. Yes that statement I was rephrasing was literally the last 2 or 3 pages of the book so it could have just been a way to wrap up the topic. Well, we are waiting for the upgrade to commemorate the big 10 year anniversary. I’m sentimental about it so I would want to be patient as well. However, we are now considering purchasing the stone and then just waiting to do the setting later. I guess setting prices can change as well but can’t be as astronomical.

Are you planning for any jewelry projects at the moment?

Whew, I’m glad you didn’t get a ticket that morning!

@LLJsmom – Hello! Love your new setting! I know I said that in the other thread already but you are my hero on figuring out what you really wanted and making it come into fruition. I would be constantly looking at my hand if I were you!

@missy – How is working coming along? I saw your other thread and was curious if you would take another part time job after this one finally wraps up? Also has the redness on your leg subsided a bit or is it still as red as the first picture?

Take care ladies!

Hi Nirdis!

Missy, I'm very sorry about the diagnosis but am also a bit relieved it isn't something even more serious. Hopefully your derm will be able to shed some more light on this condition and have some suggestions and treatments you can try. I'm so glad it's ok for you to continue cycling! Hang in there, we are definitely here for you! (((Hugs)))

Thanks for your supportive words, it was pretty comforting to me that you understand how aggravating and stressful this process is. Honestly, I am really uncomfortable with this responsibility and nervous I'm going to do something wrong. It's temporary though, so I just have to keep reminding myself of that. Thanks so much for your encouragement!

I actually like the bigger text! Much easier for my old eyes to read haha :P2

Rainwood, thanks for the good wishes and nice words about the watch. We're watch twins lol. Actually, I think Missy has one too? So we can be watch triplets ha. I hope you're having a great summer. Hang in there with the heat. Have you been able to make it to the island much?

Marcy, sorry your employees are getting to you. I agree that sometimes it's better to just acknowledge our feelings rather than trying to fight them. That can end up being exhausting. You were very smart to get the diamonds you really wanted right off the bat. And I agree, I'm sure one of the vendors can help me. I've been thinking I might hold off until the holidays since I just got the watch...even though I really don't want to wait lol. Trying to be a grown-up, which really isn't much fun. I told dh about you putting the pedal to the metal and since he drives on Wyoming highways a lot (he goes there for business) and he gets it! Wide open roads and a higher speed limit. But do be careful, we nirdis want you safe and sound! I'm glad Marty has a new boss and hopefully this one is better organized! Sorry about the delay in getting the expenses paid, that is really frustrating. Love the card you got Marty, so funny!

Austina, I agree, I find it better to buy pieces that I'm comfortable with wearing everyday - I so rarely have a reason to get dressed up! Although, if I'm being honest, I'd go a bit bigger with the studs but I'm trying my best to stay within a certain price range. :kiss2: What an adorable pic! Is that a porcupine? Very cool!

Scandi, glad you made it home ok! As fun as traveling is, it's also pretty exhausting. Hope you can get some rest and feel better. LOVE the pics of you and your family! Your dress is so pretty. And yay for getting your new puppy! So exciting, please post pics if you can.

LLJsmom, I am just so excited about your new setting! It is absolutely gorgeous and I'm so glad you're happy with it. I'm in the process of selling my mother's house, and without going into too much detail online I'm also responsible for the purchase of a condo for a relative. Yikes. thanks for the compliments on the watch, I really am surprised by how much I am enjoying it.

CJ, omigosh, you have your hands full right now - I wish I could offer more advice. Missy had some great suggestions about the flea situation, if it turns out you have them. Sending good thoughts to you.

PierreBear, so glad you didn't lose your ring down the drain! Whew, that was a close one. It happened to me with one of my diamond studs. Luckily I shut the water off in time, and I disconnected the part of the drain that is a u-shape and the earring was in it.

Can't believe it's Thursday already - have a good day everyone!

Hello lovelies

Our little friend is a hedgehog, think Mrs Tiggywinkle from Beatrix Potter - although I don't know if it's male or female, I didn't like to ask :mrgreen2:

Glad you're keeping positive @missy, I always think it's best to wait until you know exactly what you're dealing with, rather than go through the 'what if' scenarios. It's always easier to cope with anything when you have a loving and supportive partner to share the load with, and in that, you're very blessed with your darling Greg

Can't wait to see photos of the pup @Scandinavian, and of course more of the new bling.

I forgot to mention when we were in Wales, I got to snuggle 8 little Spins at the farm where the others were camping, oh my goodness, they were totally gorgeous
IMG_1934.JPG

Glad you didn't get pulled over @marcy, I'm sorry to hear about the fires, hopefully they're far enough away that you're not at risk? I'm sure DS and Marty would have plenty to talk about, he's very disciplined with his eating and exercising. He keep telling me that he can work me out a programme to get me back to a size 4, but I don't want to spend my life weighing everything I eat and living such a regimented life. I've told him I'm taking Liz Taylor's advice, I'm keeping a little bit of extra weight to keep my face plump  Besides I'm happy being a 6/8, so if I stay this size, I'm fine.

You've done a good thing @CJ2008 you've given the kitty a chance, I'm sure other people would've walked on by. I won't use chemicals on Dottie, I use human grade diatomaceous earth for both worming and flea/tick treatment.

I had a pop up on FB, a year ago today, DH, DS and I went to the south coast to a small airport to do the A320 flight simulator experience. We took Dottie to the beach while DS was in there, it was a really dark day as you can see from the photo, but she just loves to splash in the sea and chase the gulls.:D

Big hi to @LLJsmom , @PierreBear @junebug17 @azstonie and @canuk-gal :wavey:

PierreBear, I'm sorry about the soreness and stiffness! I do hope it gets better for you soon. As for the diamond purchase, dh was very supportive but I chose the diamond and setting. I did ask him his opinion on the setting and he said it was nice haha. He liked the finished product thankfully. I'm excited for you to get an OEC, what a perfect way to celebrate your 10th anniversary.:appl:

June, diamond pictures please.....? :mrgreen2::P2:kiss2:

@PierreBear you're doing an iron man?? If you're gonna be in NorCal, look me up!! I really hope you feel better. Are you injured?

Austina, love all the little Spumonis running around!! Hard to resist all that cuteness!! Plus your sweet Dot in the ocean.

Hi NIRDIs!

Scandi, I will be sad when this thread moves on to the next page. Right now it always starts with your gorgeous new earrings on top. Rest up; you hopped across a lot of time zones. How fun to pick up your new puppy.

LLJsmom, I love your new avatar. Can you take your eyes off your beautiful new ring? I bet you are adjusting to local time again too.

Missy, I did some more checking today with my eye and I just don’t see the lines as much or at all without my glasses other than my normal astigmatism. I sure hope it’s my prescription and not my eye. Thank you. I hope you are doing okay and not worrying; I know that’s easier said than done. One day at a time for sure. We are definitely here for you. I can see how the water would help cool you down. It’s hot out there and you are certainly working up a sweat.

PierreBear, oh no that your leg got stiff and sore this morning. Do you take an Advil or something to help? I hope it gets better soon. Sounds like you should work in looking for a larger 5 stone ring on your trip to California. I love 5 stone rings. I hope I get some nice Yogo sapphires out of my ore and would love to do a 5 stone diamond / sapphire ring. Marty has been very helpful with my upgrades. He definitely knows more about diamonds and sapphires than he ever wanted to and has learned what to look for in cut and clarity. He usually looks at stones through the loupe because he can find inclusions better than I can. And of course we’d be delighted to help you make decisions. That is a lot of fun for me. I’ll read those pages and let you know what i think. If you find the diamond you want at the price you want you may as well get it. Sometimes it can take a while to find exactly what you want. I am always planning new jewelry projects but it’s limited by my ability to pay for it. I am always interested in new sapphires but luckily I have to drive 100 miles to see my sapphire pusher so that keeps me from being tempted. I want some platinum rings but nothing special in mind.

Junebug, I know what you mean about worrying that you are going to do something wrong; I felt like I was just stumbling along in the dark. It’s hard to know everything that needs done. Good luck with arranging the condo.
I am bad once i start shopping for something I want I usually end up buying it now. I get wanting to wait for the holidays though. You can always upgrade them later too if you want larger studs. I can’t imagine ever wanting to upgrade my diamond or my studs but anything else i own is subject to possible upgrades. I am glad to hear your DH visits our state and gets what I mean about wide, open spaces. It invites going fast.
Oh no to dropping one of your studs down the drain; you were lucky to stop the water in time. Very scary.

Austina, what an adorable sea of puppies. So far the fires aren’t near us but a lot of the region has fires going on. Sadly that is typical for the hot, dry summers here. So far this summer it’s only smoke; not ash. Last summer we had about 2 weeks of smoke and ash. I like your and Liz’s logic about having a plump face; no wrinkles that way either. Marty keeps trying to get me to lift but with my knees I’d have to get a doctor’s permission to start anything which would require me to go to the doctor so forget that. Like my BIL and I say - everyone we know who goes to a doctor ends up having something wrong with them; there is a connection. That’s our poor logic and we are sticking to it. Dottie looks like she is having fun in the ocean.

Hi Rainwood, Sharon and Jimmianne.

My weekend is here. Sweet.
I am glad you ladies liked that card. I was proud of it.
I’m glad I didn’t get any tickets too. I was good today and drove the speed limit.
Marty and his nephew went to the range today. We all went out for supper and tomorrow the guys are going bike riding and then work out. I made reservations for supper tomorrow night. Saturday will be golf and lunch then he'll probably head back to his mom's house.
My car appointment is at 10 in the morning so I'll get on the road at about 9.
Our stupid shower plugged up last after Marty took his shower. It hasn't even been running slow. Luckily I found a bottle of Drano but had to stay up for 30 minutes to pour hot water down the drain. I need to be more vigilant about running baking soda and vinegar down the drains on a regular basis.
I didn't sleep well last night. I think I was snoring and Marty was pushing on my pillow; what a comedic interaction. I'd snore, he'd push on my pillow, I'd wake up and push his hand away; he'd wake up and ask why do you keep doing that; then repeat. I know with the smoke my allergies have been bad.

Take care.
Marcy

Hello lovelies

Just a quick post and run, hope you're all doing well today and looking forward to the weekend.

I dropped off my ring this morning, and disappointingly, the 3 diamonds are all different sizes:shock: strange how in the setting, my eyes were fooled into thinking they were all the same.

After discussion with the jeweller, I've decided against the 3 prong Martini, and am having bezel set studs. I'm also having a bezel set pendant with the largest of the 3, and he will adapt the setting he can get, to put the bale at the back so it's hidden. As these will be everyday wear, he pointed out that they will match my scatter ring perfectly. Ready in 2 weeks!

Must dash, be good

Roar! I channeled my inner Leo today and showed a coach roach who was boss this morning. It was terrifying to see it on the straps of my purse. I’m so terrified of these type of bugs because of how fast moving they are and the crunch aspect when you have to smash/pick them up. I had to use my technique of putting on oven mitts first and then grab a paper towel when picking them up. Such a pansy I am but I’m glad I got the deed done because I don’t want to be startled again.

Thank you all for concerns on my leg strain. I did go to a running facility yesterday evening where they did an assessment and a quick tissue massage. Today I’m going back again to get video tapped while running. The person said it might just be overuse due to the extra training I’ve been putting in and the fact that my right leg is longer than my left leg. It’s always been that way so I’m not sure how much confidence I place in leg length disparity causing the issue. I think overtime my body has adjusted to the length? However, I’m hoping more data can only help and can’t hurt the situation.

OK ladies hope ya’ll have a great weekend. Will be out for our trip and will come back with some stories to share.

@junebug17 – Awww sorry to hear about losing your diamond studs but very impressive that you knew how to disconnect the drain and retrieve it! Handy woman!

Yes, I agree with Scandinavian. Picture please! Haha! So wonderful when DH likes what is worn. I always like to get his vote on things such as clothes/perfume/purses since he’s going to see it just as much as I would so his opinion matters to me.

@Austina – Aww those pups. I forget sometimes that animals come in all shapes and sizes. The light golden brown one really stands out to me. Fun to also see how much Dottie loves the sea. Do you towel dry her off before she gets back to the car or do ya’ll walk back home so she is able to dry off? I always wonder how dog owners keep their cars so clean. I have a hard enough job with just two humans.

Wow, the diamond sizes were different but glad ya’ll found a solution. I’m a big fan of bezel set and actually someone just posted a bezel pendant that was just gorgeous. Ohhhh there were some earrings that someone posted with double milgrain bezel studs. Ok I’m getting carried away but just to really say that it will turn out great and can’t wait to see them!

@LLJsmom – The goal is to do a full ironman. I’ve only done the half distance a couple of times so it will be quite the challenge! I’ve seen from your other posts that you qualified for Boston marathon?! I hope I got that right… I truly admire that skill set! I have a swimming background so running is my weakest link by far but surprisingly I looooveee it the most possibly. Specifically trail running and being out in nature.

I don’t think it’s a full blown injury as it’s more of a dull sensation and not a sharp pain. I’m thankful that the race isn’t until November so even if I took time off, I should be ok! Just need to know the balance between training and resting possibly. I’m not a durable one though and always tend to get more beat up/injured than DH or some of my other friends. Any tips to stay injury free from running?!

I would love to meet up with PSers sometime! However, we won’t be up north. LA & San Diego for the first time to meet up with family that’s been a long overdue trip. Let me know if you are ever in Austin!

@marcy – Ohhh nnooo girl. The 5 stone I have is already more bling than I can handle on my ring size. I already feel conscious about it. However, a single solitaire is a different matter though. Hahaha! How sweet of Marty to look at stones with you! A 5 stone sapphire ring sounds stunning!

Sorry you didn’t sleep well yesterday night. Hope you get some rest this weekend. My sleeping dilemma is my cat who likes to snuggle in the middle of the night. He loves to put his face right next to mind so I’m either woken up by the whiskers or a nudge from his nose. It’s hard to get mad though as it’s just sign that he wants to be held and then we fall back asleep usually.

Good morning girls and happy Friday. We just got to the beach house and plan on staying through the week.

Junie honey I am sorry you are dealing with what is a stressful process and the uncertainty of the unknown but I can almost say with certainty you will do well and be quite pleased when it is completed. And I know it will all work out. Fingers crossed and sending hugs and good thoughts your way.

Marcy sorry about the shower drain and that you and Marty kept waking each other up. Comedic indeed. That usually happens b/w me and HRH. Fingers crossed for your eye appointment and I am sending good vibes your way. Loved the card. Your weekend plans sound good and busy and fun. And yay for no tickets. Hope your car appointment goes well today.

PierreBear sorry about your stiffness and hope that resolves very soon. The evaluation you are having sounds hopeful and might help figuring out why you are getting these issues. Of course if it is overuse just resting a day should help. Thanks for asking about my rash and it is pretty much gone (for now) however we are going cycling soon and it is quite warm and humid here right now so I expect it will be back in full force today but hoping it won't of course. Another vote for a larger 5 stone and yay for another darling NIRDI dh who is a keeper.:appl: Sending healing vibes your way.

Ugh about the roach. I absolutely abhor those and the water bugs which are roaches on steroids terrify me. Especially if they get away from me and I know they can come out and surprise me at any time. Shudder!:eek2::knockout: Good for you for killing it so bravely!

Austina
I love the puppies. So freaking precious!!! Just wanna hug and kiss them.

Sorry about the unexpected surprise that your diamonds are different sizes but I am liking the new bling plan. Cannot wait for you to get it and yay for a quick turnaround...2 weeks is not a long wait at all.:appl:

Have a great day girls and good luck to everyone to feel well stay good and have fun!:wavey:
