Now I really did it :((

Hello lovelies

That’s great you got your delivery from Omaha @Mamabean, and phew what a relief that your DH wasn’t exposed because of his colleague. Good news all round. I’m with you, we don’t like chicken thighs either, in fact I used to buy them for Dottie, she’s have a whole thigh, bone in, every afternoon, and hearing her crunching through the bone sounded horrific  She loved it and would grab it out of the bowl before the bowl hit the ground.

Wow @Niffler75, your stone looks even better, and is going to make quite a statement ring :kiss2: I think a few inclusions will make it look more natural. I know I shouldn’t say this here, but I find D colour, high clarity diamonds a bit sterile, they look too white IYKWIM. This weather is crazy isn’t it, supposed to be 75 here tomorrow.

 Great minds @springerspaniel, the kitties are lovely, but I noticed the piggy too.

Great shots @missy, and I’m glad you got to the Drs office quickly and it wasn’t crowded. It’s good that you’re having further tests, and adjusting meds to cope with your latest diagnosis. I suppose it will be a case of trial and error until you get things under control. Lovely to see Bubbalah again, I must admit, Bella hasn’t been out of the safe for about 6 weeks, with the constant hand washing and applying lotion, I‘m just not wearing any jewellery ATM. Adam said it’s very stormy in Austin too. Everything crossed for good news about Tommy. I hope you’re keeping your spirits up whilst you’re dealing with all these challenges.

Glad you got supplies at Sams @marcy, and yum to the tenderloin and steaks. It’s a bit of a long story how I met Colin. Every year, (except this year), there’s a competition called The Eurovision Song Contest. It’s dire, and as the name suggests, European countries have competitions to chose a song, which then goes on to the main competition. They perform the song, and all the other countries mark it. It’s very political, and we never win because the rest of Europe never votes for us  The running joke is that we always get Nil point! Well, in 1978, on Eurovision Saturday, my friend Karen asked me if I’d go to the Rugby club’s end of season disco. Her BF (now husband) was on bar duty, so she’d be alone. I reluctantly agreed to go, it was marginally better than staying in and watching Eurovision. I spoke to a lot of people that evening, including Colin. Upon spotting me across the crowded room, he told is friend that he’d just seen the girl he was going to marry. The following week, my friend rang me and asked if I’d go out with him. Her BF, also Colin was a friend of my Colin, so he asked them to get my number. She rang me every day for a month, until I gave in and said yes, and the rest, as they say, is history:mrgreen:

We’ve had a busy day, we’ve been out cleaning the windows, well, I’ve been cleaning the windows and Colin was cleaning the frames and soffits.

We had a delivery today from the Scottish butcher, some minced beef, some steaks, burgers, sausages, fish & chips and some lasagne. We had the lasagne this evening with salad, and it was really delicious. They’re pretty pricey, but who cares, we really enjoyed it.

Looks like tomorrow is going to be really summery, so I‘m going to tackle cleaning the inside of the windows.

How‘re all the other lovely NIRDI, hope you’re all having a good day and staying safe.

:wavey:

Evening everyone! :wavey: How are you all faring? On a sliding scale of 0 being totally fed up through to 10 revelling in taking things a bit slower and chillaxing I veer between a 3 and 7 depending on what mood I wake up in!
Keeping things relaxed, getting out of the house daily without fail to exercise and good amounts of self care are helping. I have been making some changes to my diet and cutting back on sugar and this has been helping I think! :mrgreen2:

OK can I ask a really dumb question about sourcing a setting for my lab ruby. I was thinking about a temporary silver setting while I save up and design something special. It is a 11x11mm cushion. If I saw a claw prong setting that was say 10mm or 12mm would it cause great challenges getting it set? I know I need to think about the stone depth as well. Ta x

HI:

NIRDI shout out!

@missy no probs. Hope he is OK.
@junebug17 hope the self isolation is going well. How is the weather there?

Didn't feel like cycling today just went for a walk. I've been having long phone discussions with my sisters, something we just don't do (we text) but we are all feeling the same and it is good to gab about nothing. We are all in health and hope to keep it that way.

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy it sounds like the rheumatologist has some ideas for you and hope you find that perfect mix of meds and health. Oh no to bad storms yesterday. My arm isn’t as bad today as some, thank you. How are your sore spots? I hope everything is doing better. Sweet Bobby and Gracie are telling you it’s raining mom. Gorgeous sunrise photos and Bubbalah looks fabulous as always.

@Niffler75 how are your flowers doing? Love your ruby. IMO I would not think that setting would work very well; but I’m not a jeweler.

@canuk-gal nice to visit with your sisters.

@Mamabean that’s great the guy at your husband’s job tested negative. What a relief. Glad he is coming to visit again this weekend.

@Austina I love your story of meeting Colin and how persistent he and your friend were to go out with him. I love happy endings. Your delivery all sounds delicious. I’m starving and Marty hasn’t started our roast. Must go find him.

I had part of a mint go down the wrong pipe last night because I sneezed and coughed at the same time. It didn't turn our pretty; glad I hadn't eaten much for supper. I haven't eaten much today but Marty is grilling a tenderloin roast for us tonight; I plan on filling up on that and strawberries.

I made Marty a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies; must be the first time in my life I didn't eat any cookie dough or a warm cookie. I'll brew up chocolate chip for myself tomorrow.

Take care.
Marcy

@missy I should be ending today [03:33] but I must first ask: is Gracie that much smaller? If I could pick her from the picture, I would! [Bobby - could I lift him!] These two must be fun to be around for very different reasons.

I hope that the change in medication might let you sleep better, if anything [stress has wrecked my already shabby sleep habits & IDK to describe the effect]

@Mamabean Of course, I have also read the good news. Then, I wonder how far your husband's housekeeping skills might go, now that he has a chance [almost joking]; the so called chores have always been my best stress relief, except for sleep when it works [Zen sweeping].

NIRDI, Good night!

Morning NIRDIs...

@marcy. Just after Labor Day, Pumpkin and 2 other dogs ran into my 12 year old ACL full speed…had the left ACL replaced last October, and I have a full meniscus tear in my right knee which they cannot repair. I’ve hit a plateau with my recovery, and have been lax about PT with all the stressors around. I really do need to focus on that. Glad you received your steak order. I cooked some Costco ribeyes last night, they were quite tasty.

@Canuk-gal…I love chicken thighs. Gourmet cookbook has a great recipe for marinated and grilled chicken thighs. Big party pleaser (and relatively cost effective).

@Missy…My niece sent me a few ER options last night. She really does to seem to prefer dark stones. Not my thing, but I need to put my personal preferences aside and find her the ring she loves. I’ll add the link to the ring she proposed on the main ER thread, but it’s a black oval diamond in a halo setting. Actually not bad looking Thanks for sharing the pictures of the kitties…so cute. And your Bubbalah…no words…it’s drop dead gorgeous.

@Niffler75. Gorgeous stone! What are your intentions?

@Austinayour grocery delivery sounds divine. How I miss my Fortnum and Mason Shortbreads. Can you have some delivered to Boston? (lol). Can't get them via LHR duty free right now :(

Me, I'm still waiting for the fecal test results from the vet (whom I adore). I am concerned Pumpkin has hip issues (he is starting to bunny hop when he runs). Likely going to have to return for some xrays and if they show the hip abnormality that I see when he is running, we'll have to consider some Pumpkin behavior modification. And, he's getting me up at 5-5:30a with the sunrise. I really really really need to buy a doggy door....on my list for this weekend. Cannot continue to run on 6 hours of sleep with all this extra stress in my life right now.

Okay, hauling my butt to the park for a Pumpkin walk. Have a good day everyone.

Thanks @TechieTechie I agree she should get what she wants and our preferences do not matter in her decision. But I would want to make sure she has seen as many options as possible because often, when we don't know much about a subject (ie diamonds for example), we don't truly know our preferences. It happened to me when Greg proposed and I had no clue about diamonds or ERs and I went on to make costly mistakes and while I did end up with my dream OEC I went from one diamond to another losing money on each purchase til I realized and knew my preferences. I would suggest for your niece to try looking at as many different types of diamonds as possible (even if only online) to make sure she prefers dark diamonds. For an ER.

Oh good luck with Pumpkin's health issues and I hope he is A OK. And I hope you can get the sleep you need. 6 hours sounds like heaven to me lol but NM that. Have a good walk and a good day. XO.

Yes she really is that much smaller. But she is only abut 7 months old and Bobby is a big boy and almost 11 years old...I think they become fully grown between 1 and 2 years of age so she has some time to catch up.

I am not sure if the meds will affect my sleep. I am pretty sure my sleep issues are hormonal related (thyroid and sex hormones) and if he lowers my thyroid hormone it might make it worse...

How are you doing and how is your week going? We had a lovely walk yesterday though it was chilly. Hope all is going smoothly. Hugs.

Oh no, I hope you are feeling much better today. I hate it when things go down the wrong pipe and it can make one so out of sorts. My shoulder neck is still not right thanks for asking. I have been heating it on and off with a heating pad. How is your arm/shoulder? Hope the strawberries were yummy and oh that chocolate chip cookie batch is sounding delish. Though I would have also enjoyed the oatmeal raisin you made for Marty. Lucky guy. Hope all is going well and sending you hugs.

I am very pleased you and your sisters are in good health and yes may that continue. Glad you got a walk in and that is always a good form of exercise. Cycling is amazing but no weight bearing so walking is more beneficial for our bones. Thank you for the good wishes for Tommy. Much appreciated Sharon. Hope you enjoy a lovely day today. Hugs.

I would say I am a 7. I would be higher than that if I wasn't sick with worry about Tommy but one day at a time and I compartmentalize a lot. It works. Glad you are exercising daily and keeping cool. You go girl!
As for the setting yes you need to consider the depth but it is best to ask the person who will be setting it to make sure the setting is appropriate. Personally I would want a white gold setting not silver if the price was right unless you are quite sure you want an elaborate setting. I am not a fan of silver personally as it is too hard for (lazy me) to keep shiny and untarnished. But my skin tarnishes silver with the speed of lightning lol so maybe that is not a problem for you. Anyway hugs and hope you are having a lovely day.

Good afternoon Austina! Greg cleaned windows a few weeks ago but then torrential downpours a week or so later made them need cleaning again. LOL isn't that always the case? Hope the day is going well and you are enjoying some nice "summer" weather. I am not ready for the heat. I cannot imagine wearing a mask in the warmer weather. So glad you got a good food delivery. Your lasagna sounds amazing and salad is the perfect accompaniment. I am with you. Cost isn't a factor right now. Eating well is more important and we are fortunate we can afford it. I am donating lots to our local food banks so I feel OK about spending a bit more money on food for ourselves. If that makes sense. Have a lovely day and be well. XOXO.

Thank you @missy! I’m so relieved! If the weather is nice this Saturday he will come and sit in the back yard again..The man is just a man that works for my husband..He isn’t a patient. My husband works for an industry. It’s essential but not as
essential as something as important as being a health care worker. I don’t even understand why he can’t work remotely but he’s stubborn. He says he has to be there.. :/

Gosh I am sorry your dh won't work remotely and I hear you. Men can be super stubborn and there's no changing their minds at times. Glad it turned out well and may that continue. Sending you lots of love and hugs Joanne. XOXO.

@Slick1 How is Chase doing? I have been keeping him in my thoughts and praying for a miracle. Gentle hugs and a very happy 17th birthday to him. Guess what? Greg and I realized Oliver's one year birthday was either yesterday or the day before. Or at least sometime this week. So Oliver and Chase share a similar birthday. April babies. Hugs to you dear Slick and lots of love and well wishes.

@Tekate not sure if you are reading but know I am sending you lots of love and well wishes and ooh Auti is so precious. I just love her. And her laugh is infectious. Thank you for sharing that video. It made me smile and kept a smile on my face for a long while afterwards. (((HUGS))).

@bling_dream19 hope you are enjoying a beautiful week. XO.

@junebug17 hope you and your family are doing well and life is good. XO.

@Scandinavian hugs. We need more pinkalicious pics of your pink halo ring. XO.

@sarahb hugs, hope all is well.

@Keeliamira thinking of you and sending hugs and well wishes.

Hello to everyone else. Hope all is well and life is treating you sweetly. Sharing some photos from our lovely (but brisk weather) walk yesterday.

Speaking of pink...

Have a lovely pinkalcious day girls! Hugs to all.

Happy Thursday Nirdi friends! I hope everyone is well and happy :wavey:
@marcy has your eye stopped twitching? I've been giggling about the lotion in my diamond and it making you twitch teehee. It doesn't make me happy either but I'm too unhappy if I don't wear my rings. Plus I like to make my ultrasonic really work! I'm not well  I hope you are feeling better - muscles and windpipe!
@missy Loving the pink flowers - I love those too on the ground. Hope endo visit went well and your dear Tommy is ok. Big hugs to you friend. Just think about the JS and icecream and sun :cool2: Oh and seeing Bubbulah was a treat yesterday :kiss2:
@Austina what a romantic story of you and Colin. I love that he knew he was going to marry you and he was persistent. You picked a great guy!
@Niffler75 your new stone is beautiful! Glad to hear you are getting out and doing lots of self care.
I need to do more of that.
@junebug17 how's the beach? I hope you're enjoying your time there and the sun and relaxing :cool2: and some bling too!
@AV_ how are you doing friend? I'm sure you're eating delicious food and enjoying life, hugs.
Love and sparkles to all! Have a wonderful day - we don't really need to say the day

Hello lovelies

I’m surprised you didn’t fall asleep reading about how I met Colin  I have to admit, I didn’t really think much about him, as I wasn’t looking for a B/F at the time. Good job he was persistent, because look how my life has turned out? I actually had no intention of getting married or ever having children, but life has a habit of throwing you a curve ball. Je ne regret rien!

I hope your meal turned out well @marcy :lickout: and you enjoyed every mouthful. Yum to the cookies, I can almost smell them from here. How did you and Marty meet?

O M G @bling_dream19, some of the 90 day fiancé stories are just heartbreaking, we’re up to season 3, and poor Cesaer :( on the other hand, Darcey, oy! and Tim giving Jeniffer his ex’s ring:shock::-o

The cherry blossom is so pretty @missy I’m glad you‘re getting out for your walks, hopefully in a few more weeks, we’ll be able to get out. At the moment, there are just too many people out walking for us to want to have to pass them. It looks like our weather is going to be good for a while, so at least all of our hard work wont’ be undone in a day or two. It’s lovely and sunny, but not too hot, but then, we don’t sit in the sun anyway, and by afternoon, our patio is nice and shady.

You’ve reminded me @TechieTechie that I have a box of Scottish Shortbread in the cupboard, I have to hide things from Colin or he’d eat them all at once  Hopefully in a few more weeks F&M will be back up and running for business, and you can replenish your stash. Poor little Pumpkin, I hope he’ll be ok.

I’d just wait until you’re ready to get the setting you really want @Niffler75 rather than have a temp setting and then spending more for another. It’ll give you plenty of time to think about what style you want.

@AV_ get to bed and get some sleep girl!

Cheers @Scandinavian, as we say here, Bottoms Up! (That refers to the bottom of the glass, not your bottom!!!!!! :D)

I can’t believe it’s Friday again tomorrow, how can the weeks whizz by so quickly, when we’re not really doing anything? It’s going to be another exciting day tomorrow, we’re getting a fruit and vegetable delivery

Big hugs to all the lovely NIRDI, hope you’re all keeping safe and well :wavey:

@Scandinavian Promissing color. Noroc!

How are you doing and how is your week going? We had a lovely walk

Same here: there is a long path through old orchards from the center of the township to my house, a little shorter thn the main road, so, of course I am happy to be the only one walking that way; with the unusual rains of this spring [still on! - there are a few drops at least every day & more serious downpurs at night] all is so beautiful! Much to be said about a kind of life that did not change now.

@AV_ how are you doing friend? I'm sure you're eating delicious food and enjoying life, hugs.

If you like risotto with aged feta & fennil, then this is good! [I had to have a break from cooking too - this takes twenty minutes of not forgetting about a pot of rice, but, I have an outstanding order with the fishmonger for tomorrow, so will just have to make what he brings! Intrigued, of course - I just asked for something big to grill]

I am still in Easter mode - it usually takes me a month or so to have enough [habits from the old country.]

@AV_ get to bed and get some sleep girl!

Easier said than done!

Hi NIRDI’s!

@AV_ you are a night owl. I hope you slept in.

@TechieTechie ouch; sorry to hear what happened to your knee. That is too bad the meniscus tear can’t be fixed. Hopefully the PT helps. Ribeyes sound delicious. The black diamonds I’ve seen are almost opaque but who knows how well they were cut. Your niece should definitely get what she likes though. I hate to hear Pumpkin has hip issues; I hope the vet can help. Definitely get a doggy door so you can sleep in.

@missy I hope your meds don’t make your sleep worse; you don’t generally get much sleep now. So both of our arm / shoulders are not right. Bummer. I am turning up the hot water in the shower when I’m finished and running it on my shoulder for a several minutes. I helps for a while. Lovely pictures from your walk.

@bling_dream19 yes my eye has stopped twitching and glad you enjoy wearing your pretty bling. Yes, I’ve been know to offer to clean my friends and family’s jewelry when they are visiting. Thanks, I’m mostly fine and Advil lessons the things talking to me.
@Scandinavian you can’t beat that view and a nice glass of wine.

@Austina I totally enjoyed your Colin tale; it was great. Marty was heading home to Maryland after getting out of the air force in California. His grandparents live here in town so he stopped to visit them. He planned on going to college. He ended up joining the Wyoming Army Guard and started school at our community college. I worked at a photo shop / camera store and he dropped off a roll of film to be processed. We had a help wanted sign so he applied. He ended up working with me in printing and inspecting photos. I had a party for people at work to watch the Holy Grail. After everyone left Marty and I talked for hours and after that we started hanging out then dating, somewhere in there I got him interested in astronomy. That summer when he went to annual guard training for 2 weeks we both realized wow I can’t stand being away from you. And so far we’ve lived happily ever after or as we usually put it I’ve been putting up with your crap. Woo hoo for a fruit and veggie delivery tomorrow.

I just ordered my dangle earrings. Here are the diamonds. I am excited.

I made chocolate chip cookies and only ate one. We didn't get the tenderloin roast cooked last night so we'll have that tonight. Marty sliced a few pieces off and just grilled them.

I lifted during my lunch. Woo hoo.

Take care
Marcy
