HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had my maiden bike ride today! Crisp outside but I dressed properly, so all good. MY DH was glued to the hockey game so I went myself, but he has just gone out himself. Good exercise! I feel like I need it.

Busy week ahead, going "home", family, saying hello and goodbyes. I'm feeling stressed already.

Keep well and safe folks.

cheers--Sharon

I hope you begin to feel better soon @MamaBee. There are lots of bugs going on around here too. I hope continuing to get negative tests is making you feel a little more at ease. Please try to remind yourself that children the ages of your grandchildren get colds many times during the winter. I think after the last two years we tend to go straight to worrying about Covid. Thinking of you and hoping your update tomorrow has you beginning to feel better.

I hope your trip next week goes as smoothly as can be expected @canuk-gal . I was so happy to read you have lots of family videos. Losing people we love is so hard And nothing really prepares us for all the emotions we feel when losing a parent. I’m glad you have your sisters and family to lean on. Please take care of yourself the coming week. I’ve found great comfort in listening to voicemails my dad left me. Thinking of you Sharon. Hugs, Callie

GM girls and happy Sunday!

@marcy thank you and I would love to see what photos Marty took. I got a bit lazy yesterday during our hike and just took video of the ocean at the end of our hike. It was such a good hike because of the wind we heard the ocean the whole time. Roarrrrrr of the sea. Your pancake strawberry breakfast sounded divine. I can taste it from your description. Yummm. I bet your throw is going to be gorgeous and I cannot wait to see it. Hugs.

@canuk-gal yay for first bike ride of the season. I always do this. Greg has wanted to go cycling for a few weeks now as the weather has been mild some days of the past few weeks. But it's always that first ride of the season where I hesitate. LOL I don't know why I do that. But here it is again a possible cycling day and I think I'd rather go hiking. We shall see. Glad you got in your first ride and enjoyed it too! May your week be much less stressful than you anticipate. I am keeping good thoughts for you. May you find comfort and love and peace with your family. XOXO.

@MamaBee we could NEVER forget about you. I almost called you yesterday but I got distracted. I hope you just have a cold or allergies or something innocuous and are back to feeling fine soon. How is the rest of the family feeling? Big healing hugs.

@springerspaniel good luck tomorrow. Sending you so many good wishes for a great week. XOXO.

@mrs-b I look forward to chatting with you. And so glad you had a wonderful Saturday. Big hugs my sweet friend.

@Austina hope you are enjoying a very sweet weekend knowing all is going well with the house. Big hugs to you.

@bling_dream19 biggest hugs and well wishes continuing your way. Keeping you in my thoughts each and every day. XOXO.

Hi to everyone else. We had a good hike yesterday and the rain held off til overnight for the most part. We definitely could have gone cycling but I just don't feel ready yet. LOL I know that is crazy considering we cycled almost 10K miles last year. IDK but I just am not ready.

Yesterday we had a good hike by the ocean and it was beautiful. Not sure if we are attempting cycling today or another hike. I wish my friends a wonderful Sunday filled with joy. Sending love your way.

Have a sweet Sunday! XOXO.

@Slick1 hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Hugs.

OK, I just dowloaded the video for your enjoyment for those who want some ocean love I am happy to share! Short but sweet. Hope this works. :)

Hi NIRDI’s!

@MamaBee I hope you feel way better soon!

@canuk-gal nice to go for your maiden bike ride yesterday. I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts this week. Sharing memories is pleasant and bittersweet but I hope you find it comforting. Big hugs to you.

@Calliecake that is so nice you have some voicemails from your dad to listen to; I am glad they offer you some comfort.

@missy nice to get a video of the ocean and I love listening to the roarrrrr of the sea. Great video! I just hear the roarrrrr of wind here. I do love pancakes or waffles with whipped cream and strawberries - or peaches. Marty always says gross. I have maybe close to 20” done on my throw. I will attach a picture of it so far. You’ll be out there cycling soon. I just had a flash of the Farside joke I sent you - watch out for low tunnels!

It looked like a promising sunrise today so I was up by 6:30. No dice though; just some color. Too many clouds. We went out for breakfast and I worked on my article for April to put in the local newspaper. I got laundry done with the exception of Marty's "work clothes" that are in the dryer. No rush getting them out since that consists of flannel pants, t shirts and knit shorts. What the heck - doing chores on the weekend like I'm not retired? We are having grilled chicken for lunch today and I'm already hungry so I ate some strawberries and a small banana for a snack. Last night we were watching movies so I made us a batch of popcorn. I carefully chewed to the right since that side was scraped on a few weeks ago. I did get a lot of knitting done yesterday watching TV. So far the throw only fits the teddy bears.

I ran the Curbymobile through the car wash this morning. Snow is coming tonight tho so I plan to stay home for a day or two and hopefully keep my car clean. Ouch - Marty's picked needed gas - $140. I'll have to go back to work!

Have a great day!

GM girls, happy Monday! Happy Spring!

@bling_dream19 hope you had a good weekend. Thinking good thoughts for you each and every day.

@canuk-gal we had our maiden cycling voyage for 2022 yesterday. It was good. I don't know why I am always so hesitant lol. Hope you had a good Sunday.

@marcy glad you enjoyed breakfast out yesterday and got chores done. Laundry always needs doing lol. Oh no to snow. And oy to the vey 140$ worth of gas in Marty's pick up. Gas went down here just a little bit. Your teddy bears look very comfy cozy and even the killer bunny looks very happy in that photo. Glad to see they are all getting along well. Haha yes I remember that Far Side cartoon you sent me and I will be careful. :)

@Slick1 hope you have a good week.

@MamaBee how are you feeling? How is your family?

@Tekate great Kate happy Spring.

@springerspaniel good luck!

Hi everyone else. We took our maiden cycling voyage of 2022 yesterday and it was glorious. Sunny and mild and so much fun. A great way to start cycling season. Today I have a periodontal cleaning and so won't be able to go cycling as it is later morning. My perio hygienist just retired and so I am seeing a new person. Bummer. I loved Kathy. She was the best so I am sad. All the good healthcare providers are retiring it seems. Oh well. Have a wonderful day lovely ladies and be well.

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!

@Calliecake thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad you are part of this community!!!
@missy may you have 10K more rides this year! I used the stationary bike today (boring LOL) as it was a bit windy for a real ride. Walked outside as well.
@marcy your crafts projects are awesome.
@Austina hope your house is shaping up!
@springerspaniel hope your new job rocks! Much success to you!
@mrs-b hope thigs are AOK in your neck of the woods.

I bought a new knife and while cutting potatoes I nearly took off the tip of my finger!  Lucky my nails were long....who knew scalloped potatoes would be dangerous!

cheers--Sharon

Hello lovelies

So glad you got out for a ride @canuk-gal, it clears the cobwebs away to be out in the fresh air. Sending lots of good thoughts your way, I hope things go as well as these things can, one day at a time, and rely on the good memories you have to get you through.

Wow, it's coming on beautifully @marcy, I love the colour. Oh no to more snow, I hope it doesn't linger and cause any problems for you. Marty will be very glad that he's not in the UK, petrol is way more expensive there, our friends are paying about $9 a gallon at the moment.

Woohoo to getting the bike out again @missy, glad the weather is being co-operative. I hope the periodontal visit went well today, and there were no problems to deal with.

Feeling annoyed because we checked the order sheet, and we did order Stone colour for the other bathroom vanities. We told the design consultant the colour scheme for the house was grey, and she didn't tell us that what she was seeing was brown and not the grey we were seeing on the screen. I'm going to paint them once we're in because I really dislike the colour. Just hoping now that everything else we've chosen is the right colour.

Adam wanted to come and see the house today so we went up this morning, and the painters were there masking everything up. They said they should be finished painting the house tomorrow, (interior). We've also been told the tiles will be released this week, so they may even be starting that too. We went in to the house next door, and theirs is painted, I managed to find a tin in the garage and it's the same colour we've chosen - and I love it!!

The sirens have just gone off for the tornado warning :eek-2:it's supposed to be gone by 10pm, so we've just got to batten down the hatches until then.

Keep safe everyone. :wavey:

@Austina, I can’t believe how quickly your house Is progressing. It’s going to be beautiful! It had to be hard picking everything out while you were in England.

I hope everything is going as well as can be expected this week @canuk-gal. Thank you for your kind words. I feel the same way about you!

@marcy, I love the color of the throw you are making. You could start your own Etsy store and sell what you make….. more money for bling. Extra money is the one drawback about retirement. I was helping someone find a setting the other day and the jeweler showed me a beautiful oval diamond that had come in. I brought home the card with all the information about the diamond and left the paperwork about the setting at the jeweler. When I got home and realized I forgot the paperwork, I called the jeweler. He laughed and said he noticed the information about the diamond was missing. DH heard me on the phone and started laughing.

I hope you are enjoying your new job @springerspaniel.

Thinking of you @bling_dream19.

@junebug17, Anything new and exciting with you? I hope you are doing well.

Did you get the test today @MamaBee? I hope you are beginning to feeling better.

GM girls! Happy terrific Tuesday!

Nice you got a new knife @canuk-gal and please be careful. That is something I would do. Walking outside and doing the stationary bike works too. Whatever it takes. We don't let the weather ruin our day. You go girl! Not sure if we can go riding today as it is super windy. But maybe. If not we will go hiking. Next few days is a rain out. Sigh. Oh well if we didn't experience the rain we wouldn't be able to appreciate the beautiful sunny days right? Big hugs sweet Sharon. Take care of yourself and I am sending continued hugs your way.

@Austina that is great the house interior is almost complete and I am sorry about the brown color. You will paint it and it will look beautiful. I hope the tornado warning was just that a warning that never materialized. Stay safe and looking forward to more house updates. Hugs.

@bling_dream19 big hugs to you and continued healing vibes.

@Slick1 how are you and how's the family? Hope all is going smoothly. XOXO.

Speaking of smoothly I hope all is going very very well @springerspaniel and I am continuing to send you lots of good luck dust and wishes for a smooth transition.

@mrs-b looking forward to catching up IRL. Big hugs.

@MamaBee I just heard there is a treatment if you do it within 5 days but I am hoping you do not have Covid and it is something else. But no matter what it is continued healing dust being sent your way and lots of well wishes. Hugs.

@marcy hope you are having a good week. XOXO.

@Tekate great Kate. Did you also have a tornado warning? Hope all is well. Big hugs.

@rainwood hope all is going well. How's the new schedule? Mine is not any better. But not for lack of trying. XOXO.

Hi to everyone else. Hope my friends are doing well. We had a good hike yesterday after my periodontal visit. All is well with my gums. I do miss kathy though as her replacement was a bit rough. In 3 months I am trying the other hygienist and we shall see. Have a terrific Tuesday lovely friends and big hugs.

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!

Lovely bright day today--had a nice walk, and my colleague met me with my favorite chicken salad sandwich and a bottle of champagne! I was really moved by her thoughtfulness.

@missy must be good weather as Greg isn't wearing a coat!! Saw a fella running today with no shirt on....OK Canadians are crazy!
@MamaBee how are you feeling? Better?
@Austina not sure if I could get used to tornado warnings...

Packing for our trip home. And awful lot of "black" in my wardrobe. :(sad

Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy how wonderful you took your maiden cycling voyage yesterday. It is spring there anyway. We are having hurricane force winds and sideways sleet today. It’s not sticking though because it is blowing away. Ha Ha. I am sorry the new hygienist was a bit rough but glad to hear your gums are okay. I have my check in a few weeks. I hope I get a good report card too. Beautiful pictures from your outings.

@canuk-gal oh no to almost cutting off the tip of your finger. New knives are nice and sharp too. Glad your nail saved it. Mmm scalloped potatoes. I am known for knife accidents and one of my nephews tells Marty if he sees me using a knife. Keeping you in my thoughts. Glad you had a nice walk today and how nice to meet a colleague for a lovely lunch.

@Austina I hope your area didn’t have any damage from the storms. It dawned on me today that yes it is tornado season in most of the country. Our earliest ones here are May. I am not surprised gas is that high in the UK. I’ll post a meme Marty sent me about gas; I thought it was cute. Sorry to hear the color of paint you picked isn’t as expected. That is so hard picking a color online. I am glad they are moving along so well on your house now.

@Calliecake I am sure you enjoy someone pick out a setting. Too funny you remembered the diamond info and not the setting. What size and specs was that oval? I think oval diamonds are so elegant. An oval diamond is on my wish list someday. I wear that heart diamond quite a bit. Of course my EC comes out frequently too. Let’s face it - we like them all!

Thank you for the kind words on my throw so far. The more I work on it the more it might just be mine. I will pick my own gift at Christmas!

This morning was like I was working again. I had texts and emails waiting when I got up. I spent over 4 hours working then got invited to their weekly meeting. It was nice to “meet” some of the people I’ve been texting. Marty sent me a text during the meeting “what’s for lunch?” So as soon as the meeting was done I ran out and bought us some Arby sandwiches. I cleverly picked up a dish of their Mac and cheese for supper. I am enjoying having something fun to do.

Take care.
Marcy

I’m negative! I’m glad I got the test because I would have always wondered if it was Covid. Whatever it is I don’t want to get it again! I have to keep sucking on lozenges..which I hate…or else I start coughing and can’t stop. Thank you for all the well wishes. XO

@missy I loved your video..The sound of the ocean is so calming..I’m happy you’re getting out hiking and you made your first cycling trip! I didn’t even know it was spring until today. I was so out of it.
Did you make a decision about the meds? I wouldn’t want to give myself an injection into my stomach. I understand why you would hesitate. Did you solve getting the med you need delivered to NY or NJ?
I developed a Lisinopril cough so I had to get switched to a different med. It was dicey yesterday because I wasn’t adjusted to the med yet..I was coughing a lot from being sick and my blood pressure was spiking really high..I feel like I’m turning the corner with this virus..whatever it is so my coughing is less than it was. It freaked me out when my blood pressure was spiking from coughing. Strokes run in my family so I was pretty concerned. It was lower today so hopefully I’m adjusting to the new BP medicine.

@canuk-gal That’s great you got out cycling..When are you going home? I hope the visit goes well and you relax a little when you get there. Is your hubby going with you?
Please be careful with your fingers. Your rings wouldn’t look as nice with a missing digit.

@Austina Were the cabinets in the bathroom brown instead of gray? If the builder made a mistake they should replace them or professionally paint them for you. Your cabinets and layout look so gorgeous! I’m excited for you!
I remember the tornado warnings in Texas...I was in Galveston on the beach with my three children during a turn of bad weather. A funnel cloud was above the water. It looked like a tornado but my friend calmly told me no..that it had to touch the ground to be a tornado. She told me to dig a hole for the children and to put myself on top of them. My son, Chris, took off running to the bathroom thinking it would shelter him. I had to grab him and convince him he was safer close to the ground with me. I was from New York..We didn’t have tornadoes there..OMG..Fortunately it fizzed out..We still talk about it. My friend was so use to it that it wasn’t a big deal to her..We also didn’t have a basement at our house because the water table was so high. When a heavy rain happened the streets flooded terribly..We actually bought a van because the water would come up too high to drive in the street after a rain. We were near the water so that may have had something to do with it..
Ugh Husband calling…TBC

Hello lovelies

So glad you’re negative @MamaBee, I don’t know if you remember, I had fluish symptoms before we were due to go to the Bahamas before Christmas. They were all convinced it was covid, I knew it wasn’t, and we had to have a PCR test before going which proved it. No, it wasn’t the builder, we had to have 2 zoom meetings with the design centre, but we did tell the consultant the colour scheme was grey, which is why we’re surprised the units are brown. It won’t be a big job to repaint them, I‘ve already found suitable cabinet paint, and they do a lovely dark grey. I’m sure we’ll just be told that we chose it so we’re stuck with it.

Fortunately we didn’t have any issues here @marcy, but we read that not far away in Round Rock there was a lot of damage from the tornadoes. It was quite alarming hearing the warning, that’s for sure. To Marty’s meme, petrol still seems cheap to us.

Glad you didn’t have any dental issues @missy, fortunately I’ve never had to see a periodontist, but I did used to clean and sterilise the instruments of torture for the hygienist  Your weather looks lovely there, a far cry from here yesterday, but it’s lovely here today, blue skies and warm.

I hope the tornado passed you by @Tekate.

We’ve been out looking at plants and window blinds today :D

Hope all the lovely NIRDIs are doing well :wavey:

GM girls! Happy Wonderful Wednesday!

@marcy I hope you get a good report card for your teeth and gums too. Ugh I hate horizontal winds and sleet. May your weather calm down. Thanks for your enjoying the photos I share and I always enjoy yours too. I cannot believe it's Wed already.

@MamaBee that is a huge relief! How is everyone else doing? Please take it easy and take good care of yourself. I am glad you enjoy the ocean videos. I take them with you in mind. I mean lol how many videos of the ocean can one take? Limitless and I love the ocean as long as it doesn't come into my house that is hahaha. Hope you feel all better very soon. XOXO

@canuk-gal safe travels back and gentle hugs. I am so sorry for all you and your family are enduring and I am keeping you in my thoughts. It was warm here and now winter has returned. Oh well. Soon spring will come back. But please leave those spring storms far away. XOXO

@Austina glad your weather is improving. Haha I remember that you worked in the dental field. I find that the periodontal hygienist does a very thorough cleaning and that is why I started seeing them 4 times a year but I am going to start alternating with my dentist's hygienist every other visit. I know my dentist has been wanting me to do that but she would never say as she is a friend. Hopefully her hygienist is good. She has had trouble (like all health care professionals) finding good assistants during the pandemic. Lots of people have quit sadly. Hugs.

@bling_dream19 big hugs and much love and bucketloads of continued healing vibes. XOXO

@Slick1 middle of the week and weekend will soon be here. I hope your week is going smoothly. XOXO.

@springerspaniel thinking of you and hoping you are having a very upbeat week. Hugs.

@mrs-b big hugs and much love. Enjoy Eleanor and your time together. Truly magical memories.

We had a good day yesterday. Windy and cool so we went hiking and it was lovely. Today is freezing and rainy as are the next few days. But it doesn't matter as I have two medical appointments today. I am nervous about the second one as it is with a new provider. I am hoping hard he will be open to what I want and need.

The next few weeks through the third week of April are so busy with medical appointments and I apologize to all for not having as much time as I would like to chat and catch up. I wake so early and have time to share here but the days are very hectic right now so chatting via phone is more challenging for the moment. Looking forward to calmer times for sure.

As for the med the insurance company surprisingly approved that involves a daily injection in my stomach I still have not made a decision. I am just not sure what the right thing to do is. I need that crystal ball. Oh well. Sending you all hugs and lots of love. Be well and enjoy. One day at a time is my mantra and when that is too much one hour at a time. Being surrounded by all this beauty helps bring me peace and contentment.

Screen Shot 2022-03-23 at 7.00.58 AM.png

A very quick note--we are packing to go hiking up north for a week. The dogs are helping by making sure the couch does not blow away. It is so weird not constantly thinking about the hospital and my patients, worrying about everyone. I am panicking about finances, so of course I am listing everything I can think of for sale. I keep looking pensively at Freddie and David, wondering if I would get much for either of them... Clyde is a big love, though, so he stays.

Thinking of you all, and I anticipate I will have more time later on to write a longer note. Meanwhile, back to packing...

Good morning girls..I think I’m awake and it’s 11 am..sigh

@marcy I’m so impressed with your knitting skills. The throw is so nice..I love the color. I think you should keep it!
That’s great you are enjoying your new job..especially that you can do it at home! It must have been nice to actually see the faces of the people you have been texting with. I hate how I look in general..never mind zoom...so I’m not a fan..haha
I hope you get a good report card at your dentist. I’m overdue with my periodontist because I had to cancel during the Omicron surge. I pushed it two months out. I hope I won’t get a C at my periodontist when I go in April for my deep cleaning. I then will be ready for her to put on my braces! I can’t believe I need braces at my age..They’re the tinsel teeth kind except for the ceramic pads. I’m hoping that will keep me from eating Twizzlers. I’m addicted to them.
Hurricane winds sound scary to me! Do you have a generator?

@bling_dream19 I don’t know what medical issues you have but I hope you’re doing well.

@Calliecake You‘re right..Now that masks are off the bugs are having a field day. My son said that three weeks ago the little guy came down with a bug that he passed on to my son and DIL. My daughter-in-law was able to get a milder version of it. My son was in bed for three days. He said he was the sickest he’s been since college! This was a germ from an under two year old! My friend says every time she babysits her grandchildren she comes home with something that takes her out for at least a week!

@Austina Thank you…Yes..I remember you getting sick before your trip. The bugs are back because most people aren’t wearing their masks now. I’m glad it didn’t ruin your trip..

@canuk-gal My husband and sons are huge hockey fans. The oldest and middle ones went to Canada for camps when they were young. My husband would drive them up with other dads from their high school teams. I couldn’t go often because of David. He kept telling me I would love Tim Horton’s coffee when he got back. That was the first place he took me to when I went with them. He’s a big spender! ;)2
You are in my thoughts every day. Big hugs..

@springerspaniel Your emerald ring is so gorgeous! I keep going back to look at it..I did like your previous setting. I thought it was very pretty..The new setting is definitely more beautiful…It really looks like it belongs to someone in the royal family…Regal is the word that keeps coming to mind. I would wear it all the time..:kiss2:

Hi to everyone else..XO

@MamaBee, I’m so glad your test was negative and am sorry you have had a rough week. It’s no fun being sick. One of my nieces children have been sick every other week since January. Her children are 3 and 18 months She was sick in February from a cold she caught from them and got much sicker than everyone else and was wiped out for over a week. All her covid tests were negative. Once people dropped the masks here the regular colds and flu cases started going crazy.

I’ve been trying to get back to normal life but am still wearing masks. I’ve been to multiple jewelry and clothing stores the past week and I was the only one wearing a mask. The grocery and drug store is the only place where I still see people wearing masks but that depends on the town. I know I probably look ridiculous wearing the mask. No one has said anything or made me feel uncomfortable. A couple sales people have asked if I would would feel more comfortable if they put on a mask. I’ve declined, saying I’m fine with just me wearing the mask but found it very nice that they offered.

@marcy, The oval diamond I saw was 3.07 carats. It is now at GIA being graded. The jeweler believed it to be H color and SI1 clarity.
I love the proportions of the stone on my finger. I don’t see it in my future now that DH has retired. Why do we have to fall in love with these diamonds? I’m even thinking maybe it‘s time to sell some rings to get something else I would wear more Have you regretted selling or trading in your rings?

Hi NIRDI’s!

@MamaBee I hope you are feeling better soon. Tornadoes can be frightening but I guess when you live where they are frequent you get used to finding shelter. I always used to joke we should stock the basement with chocolate and liquor in case we have to wait out a tornado warning. I’m one of those idiots that heads outside to look! Thank you about my knitting. I have visions of upcoming projects I want to do - that’s cheaper than thinking up jewelry or pondering what lens I want. I’m not a fan of being on camera in zoom calls either. At my last job I always puts up one of my sunrise pictures and killed my camera. I was going to do that yesterday but they all had their cameras on so I did too. Next time I will prepare. I am enjoying what I am doing so far. She has been having me do stray jobs and cleaning things out but I think today I finished all of them. I will see if she keeps me as busy. I worked 5 hours today. Good luck with your upcoming cleaning and braces. Twizzlers are tasty! I’m a sucker for Lindt milk chocolate. We do not have a generator. We had a 5th wheel with one we hooked up to the house now and then but we sold the 5th wheel. During the blizzard last spring we lost power for about 24 hours but we managed. Our gas fireplace kept us pretty warm and our stove is gas so we were able to cook. The winds are annoying to me but it sure knocks semi trucks on their side.

@Austina I am glad you didn’t have damage at your place(s). Funny you mentioned Round Rock - my niece’s cousin and her family live there and there was damage close to their house but they are okay. Small world sometimes. I believe the lady I work for at my new job is in the Austin area as well. We are having horrific winds here again. I told Marty the only reason we don’t name our wind storms like hurricanes is we’d go through the alphabet in a month or two. Fun to be shopping for plants and blinds.

@missy this week is flying by for me too. I very much agree the periodontal hygienist does a more thorough job than I get at the dentist. Sounds like they want me to do 4 a year for a while and swap between them every 3 months. I’ll be happy to eventually get a permanent crown in my mouth. You do have a busy time ahead. I hope your appointments went well. Glad to hear the medicine was approved and good luck on deciding whether to do the injections. I said “ouch” when I read that.

@springspaniel have a fabulous time on your trip.

@Calliecake I looked up the size of an oval diamond around 3 carats. Oooh. I am sure it’s gorgeous! I have not regretted selling or trading in my jewelry to get something else. I like places that allow you to trade in something towards another piece. It’s like having a huge deposit on it already! It’s a tough call whether to buy something after retirement. I need clothes that fit me really bad but I’m too cheap to spend much money for clothes when no one sees me. I tried drying one of my cotton sweaters in the dryer and it looks like only the sleeves shrunk a little but the rest of the sweater is still too big. I just bought a sweater at Kohl’s on closeout and with an additional discount for $11. I washed it in cold as directed and went to lay it out flat to dry and noticed it is now a sweater dress instead of a sweater. I guest that’s what you end up with when you buy a cheap sweater. I plan on taking it back once the wind dies down. I could maybe use it for a nightshirt!

I worked 5 hours today. Since I worked in to lunchtime I ordered us some burgers through Door Dash. Marty is one calls all day so he doesn’t have time to cook for us either. He is losing his cook.

We had a snow squall blow through here last night that left maybe a 1/2 inch of snow but it either blew away or the sun melted it today. I have no intention of venturing out today but I will probably have to do so tomorrow; we are almost out of fruit.

Take care.
Marcy

Hi everyone! I've fallen a bit behind so I guess I'll just jump back in lol -

@Jemi, your granddaughter is adorable and the pic of her and Ki is so cute. How wonderful to have this precious baby in your life. Must have been such a thrill to hear her say grandma.
@canuk-gal, I'm glad you're getting out for fresh air and had a nice time with your friend. I will be thinking of you in the days ahead and I hope being with your family will help you during this emotional and sad time.
@Calliecake, I am very sorry for your loss, losing a parent is so hard. I'm glad that hearing your father's voice brings you a little comfort and peace.
LOL to remembering the diamond info and forgetting the setting invoice! I love ovals, I think it's such a flattering shape on the hand.
@marcy, congrats on your new job, I'm so glad you're enjoying it. Sounds like the perfect part time job for you. Love seeing your knitting projects, you do beautiful work.
@Austina, it's exciting seeing the house take shape, you must be so looking forward to it being done. Sorry about the error with the cabinet color, frustrating but at least it's a pretty easy fix.
It's nice you were able to do some cycling @missy, and hopefully the weather will warm up again soon. March can be iffy but hopefully we're in the home stretch. Good luck with all your upcoming appointments and your decision on the medication.
@springerspaniel, have a great trip and I hope you can relax and de-stress a little.
@MamaBee, I'm so happy to see you don't have covid! Take care of yourself and feel better soon.
@mrs-b, thinking of you and hoping you are doing ok. I was sorry to read about Tim's diagnosis and I am hoping for the best for him.

Things are good with me, and the family is fine. Dh and I got together recently with dd and her boyfriend at her apartment and we had a great time. Can't believe she's turning 33 next week! Dh and I are heading back to SC next weekend for a few weeks so looking forward to that. The days are going by so quickly.

Keeping everyone in my thoughts, take care all!

Hello lovelies

Have a great trip @springerspaniel, lol to dogs helping, everytime we went away with Dottie, she had more ‘stuff’ to be packed than we did.

Glad you had a lovely visit with your DD and her b/f @junebug17, and safe travels to SC next weekend, I’m sure it’ll be great getting away for a while.

We’re doing the same @Calliecake, we’ll continue to wear masks in shops for as long as we feel it’s necessary, who cares what other people think? It’s not an inconvenience to keep safe, and like you, we appreciate it when other people ask if we’d like them to wear masks too.

I hope the snow soon goes away @marcy, it’s been really lovely and warm here today, I’m not sure I could live with that much cold weather. We saw a news clip of a road in Round Rock where one side of the street the houses were completely trashed, and the other side had escaped unscathed, thank goodness your niece’s cousin was OK.

I hope you’re feeling better each day @MamaBee, it really drags you down when you feel awful.

Keeping you in my thoughts @canuk-gal.

Hope your back is holding up till your surgery @mrs-b and that Tim is feeling OK.

Ugh to cold wet weather @missy, hopefully it’ll perk up soon so you can enjoy more cycling time. Sorry the next few weeks are going to be an endless round of medical appointments, life is certainly sending lots of challenges your way.

We went up to the house today, all the interior painting is done, I love the colour, although there are places that need touching up. The bonus was that the exterior painting has also been done and although it wasn’t the colour we wanted, it does go well with the stonework, which is also finished. We arranged to meet the fencing guy to give us a quote, then we went out to lunch. After lunch we had a landscaper coming to quote for the garden. The weather has been glorious today, we sat outside eating our lunch in the sunshine.

We’ll probably go up again tomorrow to see if the tiles have arrived.

This week is whizzing by!

:wavey:

What a perfect day @Austina! I’m glad you like the color of the house.

GM girls from the very stormy Jersey Shore! Happy Thursday!

@springerspaniel have a terrific trip. You deserve some R&R and a wonderful time.

@canuk-gal thinking of you every day and sending warm wishes and gentle hugs your way.

@Slick1 hope you are having a good day. The storms here are scary right now wth howling fierce winds and torrential downpours. I hope it is calmer by you. Be safe. It's almost the weekend woohoo!

@bling_dream19 big hugs and bucketloads of healing vibes being sent your way. I am here for you if you want to talk. Don't hesitate OK? (((Hugs))).

@marcy good for you working 5 hours yesterday. Impressive. NOoo to snow squalls. OMG Wyoming winters last til June lol. Hopefully not this year. Poor Marty is losing his cook but Dash works too. I actually never ordered from Dash or any of those apps. I am a techie dinosaur lol. Speaking of dinosaurs...haha @MamaBee

@MamaBee hope everyone keeps improving. I am very curious what it was you had. Maybe the flu? Healing vibes being sent your way.

@mrs-b hope you are having a blast with Eleanor.

@junebug17 wow I cannot believe your little girl is turning 33. It's wonderful you like her bf and enjoyed their company. Have a good trip to SC and TY for the good wishes.

@Jemi hope all is going smoothly in France and please hugs your granddaughter and Kine from me and Greg.

@Austina sounds like a successful day. Woohoo. So happy the house is coming along.

Hi everyone else. We had a very busy day yesterday. Saw one of my doctors in person in the AM. Then I had a two hour window before my telemedicine appt so we ran to WF and TJ and I got everything I needed. Success! Then I got home and did my telemedicine with the new provider. He has a heavy southern accent lol so I had trouble understanding everything he said haha. But it went OK. He was agreeable to what I wanted but now I just wait to make sure the meds were ordered correctly. It's complicated but his staff does that and one of my meds dosing is very unusual so I am holding my breath they got it right. Today is very stormy. Torrential downpours and very high winds. Enjoy a wonderful day girls and be well. XOXO.

Look what is growing in our garden? Besides the flowers. Haha

Thank you so much for your kind words @junebug17 regarding the death of my dad. As you know all too well grief hits us in waves. I’m doing well. Some of the words that women on the NIRDI thread have said thru the years regarding the loss of their parents have helped me. People’s words stay with us.

@mrs-b you are so right.
Gorgeous.
Inside and out.
Just a few pics from this evening's birthday dinner. A wonderful time was had by all and her gifts were a smashing success!

Hi NIRDI’s!

@junebug17 glad to hear things are going well for you and the family. Very nice to spend time with your DD and her boyfriend. Enjoy SC!

@Austina sadly we have more cold weather than I like too. My mom used to say Wyoming has 9 months of winter and 3 months of darn cold weather. We do have warm weather in the summer but then it rains and the temps drop 30 to 40 degrees. It is strange how tornados can take out one place and not another. They are so awful! That’s is great you like the color of the paint inside and the one outside matches the snow so well. More progress. Yay!

@Calliecake I am still picturing that gorgeous oval diamond. I have been keeping you in my thoughts. It is tough at times.

@missy the awful thing about those food delivery apps is most places really hike their prices. Then there is delivery fees (which vary) plus tip. I told Marty we still save money rather than going out because we don’t buy wine and dessert. Yay for getting what you need at WF and TJ. Sounds like the telemedicine appointment went well. I hope your weather is better tomorrow. Your daffodils are very pretty.

I worked almost 5 hours again today. I need to get more organized with what I am doing but I feel like I am learning more and more. What happened to my lazy days? Ha Ha.

This afternoon I went grocery shopping then came home and lifted. It was very nice here today other than the wind.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls and happy friYAY!

@bling_dream19 my heart goes out to you. You remain in my thoughts and prayers. We are here for you. I would like to talk today and will call you when the hour becomes decent. Big hugs sweet friend. And continued bucketloads of healing wishes.

@marcy it went as well as it could have. I reserve final judgment til all my medications arrive. Sometimes I feel like a drug addict looking for my next fix lol but in all honesty these are meds I need and it shouldn't be so hard to get them. And then of course the insurance company surprises me and approves a medication that is many thousands per month. Go figure. Wow you are working almost as much as you did before you "retired" haha. But as long as you are enjoying it that is what matters. We don't order food delivery so I have no clue what that costs but looks like we are saving money. :) XOXO

@Slick1 happy almost weekend. Be well and enjoy. Hugs.

@springerspaniel I hope you are enjoying vacation to the max. Hugs.

@mrs-b I hope you enjoy a terrific weekend in Cali and I know you are looking forward to seeing Tim next week. Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers and looking forward to getting together. XOXO

Hi to everyone else. I had a constructive day yesterday and made homemade apple sauce. My best batch yet. So yummy. It's a lot of work but worth it. It was quite stormy most of the day and started again overnight but might be clearing soon. Not sure what is on the schedule for today but we will make the most of whatever it is. Big hugs and much love to my girlfriends here. Be well. ((((Hugs)))).

Leaving you with the apple sauce prep. Very colorful.

Happy FriYAY all!

Hello lovelies

Hope you’re having a great time @springerspaniel and the pups are behaving themselves

I’m sorry you’re having a difficult time @bling_dream19, sending lots of positive vibes your way and hoping things will be improve soon.

Would you believe it’s 87 degs today @marcy, there’s no way we’d be walking around in summer clothes in England at this time of the year. You’re going to have to have a talk to yourself and remind yourself that you’re retired now, you’re not supposed to be working 5 hours a day ;-)

That’s so nice that you’ve found comfort in the kindness of ‘strangers’ @Calliecake, not that I’m implying any of the NIRDIs are strange! You’re right, words are a powerful medium and can have a profound effect on people.

You must be excited to be seeing Tim again soon @mrs-b, I hope things are more settled job wise and health wise for you both.

Look at that sticky out tongue @missy  Oy to the never ending trial of medical issues, it doesn’t make sense the way insurance companies work, but at least they approved the drug whether you decide to go with it or not, it’s an option. Your apple medley looks delish:lickout: throw in some crusty pastry and a dollop of ice cream and I’ll be right over:lol:

How’re you feeling today @MamaBee, did I miss the story of your new avatar ring?

I hope things have been exactly as you wanted this week @canuk-gal, and you’re doing ok.

We didn’t go up to the house today, we don’t think anything was scheduled to happen, but we’ve been out looking a window shades. One place said there’s a 12-16 week delivery o_O Good job our neighbours aren’t that close.

We‘ve spent hours looking at flights for the trip to Australia, (I’m using the Royal WE here) as Colin’s been checking them out, and I’ve been making notes. We’re talking to Rob & Sue tomorrow so need to agree on flights as they’re already getting booked up, not to mention increasing in price.

Do you remember me mentioning the BA refund debacle? Well, Colin opened the claim again with the CC company, provided 13 pages of time line, and he also sent the same to BA. Well, they issued a partial refund (some was paid on one CC, and the rest on another), thereby admitting we were due a refund. He contacted them again and they‘ve said they’ve issued a full refund - which they haven’t, so he’s still chasing it up!

Not a lot on the cards for us this weekend (is there ever? :D) going to the dog park with Bertie in the morning, FT Sue & Rob later and also our friends T & J on Sunday.

Have a great weekend lovely NIRDIs.
