@mrs-b the day before yesterday's ice cream flavors were strawberry and vanilla for me (my fave combo) and cup of Joe and blueberry pancake for Greg. So good. Thank you and @MamaBee for your lovely Halloween and autumn photos. We don't decorate but enjoy our neighbors decorations. Ugh I know the feeling. Dreading a medical appointment. Hi everyone! Freddie reminded me that I had not posted in a while and that I had not responded to @mrs-b's kind email, so I apologize. He's such a good boi to remember.

I've been trying to keep up with you all, but it's not always easy, since there is so much going on. @bling_dream19, sounds like you are starting to get the itch to cook again! Anything in particular that you like to make these days? I am always looking for inspiration. We have no kitchen for a few weeks, when our long-anticipated granite countertop will be installed.

@missy I cannot get enough of your daily posts--they inspire me and brighten my day. I also follow your frustrating attempts to get good medical care. It is such an indictment of the industry and one of the reasons I left, as patients are not at the center of their care any more, if they ever were. I do hope you and Greg are doing as well as you can these days--it is great to see you could get a replacement trike so you can keep moving as long as the weather holds.

@mrs-b I am sending all the good vibrations I have in my body and soul for your appointment tomorrow. You have suffered long enough and I hope you get closer to resolution. When does Tim return? (P.S. we are going to NZ in a couple of weeks for 3 weeks, but I have not had a chance to process that it's actually happening yet.)

@Austina I am looking forward to hearing about your trip when you return! I echo what a lot of others have said about your experience with your grandchild--although it is hard not to take things personally.

@missy ironically my mother-in-law was just texting me about how incompetent their doctors are in Arizona. It’s like the whole lot of them needs an attitude adjustment. I totally get just wanting to give up. I am very tempted to try someone new but hate to start over at this point. I haven’t heard a darn thing yet, going on week three. I imagine the thing growing like a loaf of bread rising and expanding. Sorry you had a bad dream, those are so unsettling. We seem to have the exact same lack of sleep habits. That three stone ring sounds gorgeous. I have to send my rings to WF soon for sizing, I keep toying with doing something different with my ering, but I do really like that solitaire. Glad that Rover is working out for you until you get the frame and new tandem. You’ll be set with spares then! I had some vanilla ice cream a while ago. Mmm.

@MamaBee I hope your zoom meeting netted you some great information. Your yard is gorgeous and I love the fall colors. Thanks for posting them for us.

@mrs-b your yard looks fabulous as well. Fun Halloween decorations. I have two Snoopy’s dressed up as a pumpkin and a Dracula. Oh no you need a new crown too. Let’s hope 2023 means all of us NIRDI’s don’t have to go to the doctor or dentist. It’s our turn. Universe, are you listening? I am not happy with my doctor either. I am seriously tempted to ask around for a thyroid specialist. I’m tired of waiting. Good luck with your surgeon tomorrow. Hope the ride isn’t painful for you.

@canuk-gal wow you got some snow! We are expecting some tonight but they think it will just be on grassy surfaces. We will see. So far the expected rain hasn’t materialized. Wind and cold did show up as predicted. Mmm to cabbage rolls.

@bling_dream19 this is a good time of year to start cooking. I’d bake cookies but I’d just eat them so I’ll resist. You can bake some for me.

@springerspaniel I agree, the medical field is no longer about the patient. I read in my many thyroid searches online that insurance companies often reject paying for that second test, I wonder if that is the holdup with me getting results. Grr. Thank you. I am quite pleased with my progress shrinking over the past year. I am wearing 6 sizes smaller clothes now. Sadly, I need all my rings sized but new clothes are fun. I sure feel better overall. That’s great you are running more. I hope things calm down for you with your busy life.

I know some of you have asked about things that I notice or can do now. I get thrilled that I fit in chairs without issue, seatbelts hook easily, I can buy clothes in any store. But people no longer move out of my way in a store. That’s a drawback. I saw a picture from years ago and was like “wow” what a difference. It’s a work in progress. Sadly, I’ve been down this road a few times before, but this time it’s different. I’m not doing a diet, it’s I need to live this way - well to live.

We had a fun day yesterday. I kept Marty distracted all day. We ate lunch at Culvers then headed to hardware store #1 to spend our $43 rebate. We did good too, I have $1.31 left on the rebate so what we picked up was free. I got a little Christmas Minion to go with our Snoopy and abominable snowman. Marty picked up what turned out to be the perfect edge for my desk. He made this desk out of pine about 15 years ago and the front edge got rubbed off over the years from the chair getting pushed in to it. It was snagging my sweaters. He thought sanding it and adding more varnish might not turn out well, so he found a clear edging piece that fit perfect and looks great.

Then we headed to hardware store #2 mainly to see if they had any outdoor Snoopy Christmas decorations. We left there empty handed. Next stop was hardware store #3 - that has to be a record getting me in three hardware stores in one day. We left there with an inflatable Snoopy decorated like a nutcracker and some parts Marty picked up to fix his door handle at the gym.

Marty still had to finish his Saturday lifting session so I went back with him. I played Angry Birds while he lifted.

After we got home, he plopped down on the couch and started watching movies. I had to get my November article going for the paper so after I got that done I made us popcorn and we watched another movie.

Today, I finished my article for the paper - twice, by the way - and got it sent off. I updated it once and thought I hit copy but didn't and stupidly closed Word without saving it. Oh well, it didn't take me long to do it twice.

I did my lifting and washed several batches of laundry. I got the rest of my order from Land's End so the back bed is covered with sweaters drying. It's in the 40's here today and we might get snow tonight. Phooey.

I also got Halloween cards sent off to the family and a birthday card and long letter in the mail to my best friend from grade school through high school.

Marty grilled himself a tomahawk steak and four filet so we have them for tomorrow. I cut my filet and potato in half so have instant lunch tomorrow.

Aww thank you. You made my morning. The healthcare industry lost a wonderful and caring and intelligent physician when you left patient care. But I do understand 100%. It's the main reason I left healthcare too. Big corporations not giving a flying you know what for the patients. Unconscionable. Our county is only as great as our healthcare and we are in trouble IMO. Very sad state of affairs.

We are doing well under the circumstances and I appreciate you caring and your kind words. Some good news. Lab Corp CTX came back and both of us had more realistic (not losing bone at a fast rate) numbers. And my endocrinologist who had ignored my message for repeat labwork responded last night (not knowing we repeated the CTX already) saying let's repeat it at Lab Corp. He hates Lab Corp and I give him credit for that. He said he's been getting high values with Quest with all his patients recently and he left them a message to see what is going on.

My own informal observations is that Quest has been very off with free T3, Free Testosterone and a number of other values for 9 plus months now. It is very scary when one cannot trust the labs. I don't really know what will happen because this feels unprecedented and now I question all the values from all the labs. What a mess. But huge relief about the CTX. Though the results did triple over 6 months I was very low to start so not sure if this is something I need to be concentred about. As usual though I will be monitoring myself and repeating in a month. If the trend keeps going up (then I am losing bone and) I have to figure out why. But for now, I am going to breathe a sigh of relief and take it one day at a time.

I know you get it and I am so sorry you are dealing with something similar. Starting over is hard and is one of the reasons I am still with my endocrinologist. He is a nice guy but I think my case overwhelms him. I also don't think I will find anyone better as he is the best of all the endocrinologists I have seen. Despite him missing Greg's primary HPT and my secondary HPT. That is why I don't rely completely on the docs. I diagnosed both of us and just in the nick of time IMO. Greg has damage from it and I do too. If we waited too much longer who knows what shape we would be in. I told him this is what Greg has and he said no. It was clear as day to me. OK enough of that. Sometimes I wonder why I am staying with him but the grass is not always greener. As long as he does eventually respond and do what I request but it is an exhausting process. I am continuing to think good thoughts for you and hope you get good news soon. Week three. Unreal. Funny I am also considering the reset of Bubbalah but I am worried I love her so much in her current setting that resetting might make me feel differently. She is like a feminine flower in her setting but I do not feel she is ER like if you know what I mean. I am longing for a solitaire. But might miss her in that pretty setting she is in now. What to do what to do lol. I can handle bling issues. I would rather handle bling issues than health issues lol. Good for you getting all your cards out already. Stunning sunrise. Wow.

@missy glad you got a better report back on your bone numbers. It’s about time the endocrinologist got back to you. It is sad we can’t trust lab results. It stinks it is so hard to find competent doctors these days. My uncle was an orthopedic surgeon and I heard him say many times, that why they call it “practice” medicine. Sad, but true. That is a tough call on resetting Bubbalah, it’s gorgeous in the current setting. But, no doubt it would be gorgeous in any setting. I need to send my rings to WF for sizing and kind of thought about a new setting for my ering, but I do really like my solitaire. Love the tree silhouette shot. Gorgeous!

@mrs-b I hope you didn’t get in too much more pain from your appointment today. Yay Tim will be home tonight. That was a quick trip.

I was up bright and early because I had two articles to get done ASAP for tomorrow. I worked over 7 hours today. Our leftovers from yesterday heated up great. Woo hoo. But I am hungry right now. I might do a grilled cheese for supper. I need to run out and get some cash for the cleaning lady, but it is windy as crud out there. Strange, that never happens here.

I ordered myself a "retro" pink trim line phone for my desk. It is even made by AT&T. I had one in high school. I reorganized my desk and decided I wanted a smaller phone. We had an ugly office type phone with all sorts of lines, etc. on it and since it is the only analog phone in the house, I decided to get a trim line phone. It doesn't even have caller ID on it. Funny, it rang a while ago and I answered it to find it was Vera from WF calling to say hi and celebrate 19 years at Whiteflash. How cool!

Well at last some good ish news @missy! How can they get it wrong? It really doesn’t give me any confidence whatsoever in the medical profession here. Thank goodness you’re on the ball and very aware of your own body and able to research and understand what you need. FWIW, I think you’ve got so used to Bubbalah in her current setting, you’d miss the finger coverage if you went back to a solitaire.

Glad you’ve got rid of your little ‘friend’ @canuk-gal. Have you ever watched Dr Pimple Popper some of those lipomas were as big as a head! I hope it’s not too sore now the anaesthetic’s worn off.

I think your current setting is perfect for your diamond @marcy, it looks very well proportioned and goes so well with the bands you have. Your desk looks very tidy! We don’t have a house line just our mobiles. We’re not going for a couple of weeks yet, I just like to be really organised and get everything sorted out well in advance.

I hope today provided some answers @mrs-b and the journey wasn’t too stressful. I’m sure you’ll be so glad that Tim’s back after his visit.

The pool people came again (and used the same cord that kept popping the fuse ) and they’ve used the wrong stone on the sheer wall facing They’ve said they’ll take it off if we want, but Colin didn’t want them to, so we’ve said leave it. It actually matches the house, so it looks fine.

Hi everyone else. We hiked yesterday and it was nice. It drizzled all day long so we got pretty wet but we wore our new waterproof pants and it worked like a charm. I have five pairs. Pink, purple, black, navy and olive. LOL I can never just get one of something I like. I'm wearing my Navy waterproof pants here with my navy timberland waterproof hiking boots.

@missy love the colors of the fall leaves in your photos. You look pretty, happy but cold. Great Halloween decorations. Nice you stayed dry in the rain while out walking. Did the new bike arrive?

I was up before 6 am today but got to enjoy a lovely sunrise and Marty added some more bacon, cheese and eggs to his omelet so I could have some.

I did several different articles today including a brand new one from an outside person. It was fun to do something from scratch rather than updating something existing.

We ordered in steaks for lunch that were great. Too bad I spilled 1/2 of a baked potato all over our clean floor. Every time the cleaning lady comes, I make a mess on the floor. Go figure.

Hi everyone else. We did go cycling yesterday woohoo. Somehow we managed it between HVAC guys and bike delivery. Yes Marcy we got the new bike delivered yesterday woohoo. And the frame of the original bike was also delivered but to our dealer so it's over 2 hours away and Greg needs to find time to pick it up but no rush as we now have two other bikes to ride lol. We will never be without backup again haha.

We are planning on cycling today too. Some drizzle is still around as it was yesterday but that does not distract from our enjoyment of cycling. As I have written before, if we waited for perfect weather we would never cycle lol

It was super foggy (or as we say, froggy haha) yesterday due to the mild air and ocean and it felt surreal. Loved it.



And on our way home we ran into M and two new neighbors and their dogs. Ooooh la la I am in doggie heaven
These new neighbors are from Europe and yay for the addition of new furry babies

The puppy is 4 months old and the bigger dog (100 lbs) is about 3 or 4 years old. I cannot remember now what they told us.

We say froggy too @missy. Glad the new bike has arrived and you were able to get out despite the drizzle and appts. Are those Bernese Mountain dogs? There is another breed that looks similar, but I can’t remember the name ATM. Fabulous autumn colours on the trees, as you can imagine, we don’t have anything like that here!

Wow, fantastic photos @marcy, your photography skills are awesome! You have been a busy bee with your articles, where do you find the inspiration from? Isn’t that just the way when everything is clean? Hopefully it wasn’t too much of a mess to clear up.

No sign of the pool guys so far, well, they were here for about a minute, but have disappeared now!

@missy thank you. The colors yesterday were quite bright. Today was gray and cloudy but I was up in time to watch the sun sneak up behind the clouds. Sweet your new tandem showed up and the frame is almost “home” as Greg picks it up. Love the pictures of M meeting the other dogs. They are so cute. Gorgeous colors in the fall leaves. Just beautiful. Fun Halloween decorations too.

@Austina most of my articles are press releases or an existing article that needs updated. I only worked on two today and did some of my busy work. I’m cold and sleepy so didn’t venture out looking for new things to do. Thank you for the kind words about my photos. I appreciate it. Oh no that the pool guys disappeared.

I did venture to the mall last night to drop off a few rings to be sized. Based on how much it costs to size rings these days, I am glad most of my rings have the lifetime warranty to do those things free. I might have about 10 rings I’ll need to begrudgingly pay to downsize.

Kay’s had their St. Jude’s bears and puppies so I bought two of each and donated one of each and brought the other two home. I put the puppy down in Marty’s office and surprisingly he hasn’t tossed him out of the office. It’s probably because he is too busy. The new bear joined his buddies on the banister.

@Austina yes they are Bernese Mountain dogs. So sweet. Like sugar. Really great dispositions. One day you will visit us here during Autumn so you can enjoy the full effect. It's, IMO, the prettiest of seasons. The colors are better IRL and just stunning. I cannot do them justice with my mobile phone whose camera lens I never (rarely) clean lol. Hope the pool guys show up and have a great day.

The frame was delivered to our dealer but our dealer contacted us and sent pics. Whoever packed it at Terratrike did a crappy job and it was damaged so back it goes to Terratrike and they are shipping us a new one. TG we have two other trikes we can ride. Wow to Terratrike. You'd think they'd know how t pack and ship an item properly.

Pics our bike dealer sent us of the new frame sent by terratrike. I mean cmon. Gotta laugh and it's all OK since we are riding anyway but if we hadn't gotten another to ride we still wouldn't be riding at least for another week or two.

Hi everyone else. Another great cycling day. Weather so mild the last few days. Lots of fog around yesterday but weirdly not everywhere. We rode the coast and some towns were not fogged in and some were. Gotta love the microclimates around here.



On the Asbury boardwalk. Had it almost all to ourselves. Just how I love it.

Oy @missy, you’d think with something that expensive, they’d have made sure that all the corners were well packaged. Good news they’re going to replace it, but would’ve been so much simpler if they’d just spent a few more $$ on better packaging. At least you have your back up to keep you going. The Irish Premier had Bernese Mountain Dogs and they were often pictured at official engagements They’re lovely dogs, very good temperament.

Glad you’re able to get your rings resized @marcy, it’s certainly expensive to have to pay for that many, but no point in not being able to wear them (says she who has many rings sitting unworn ). Love the new bears, and that’s so sweet of you to buy extra to donate.

Different pool guys showed up yesterday afternoon, and they’ve got all the equipment installed, so another job done. The supervisor came today and our first choice tiles have arrived and should be installed tomorrow. They’re just for a row under all the coping stones. They’re also supposed to be starting the forms for the deck tomorrow, which should be finished by the end of next week too!






Other than that, the HVAC man came today (despite the company phoning yesterday and saying he couldn’t come!) checked that everything is working as it should, changed the filters, so we‘re all good for another few months.

Nothing else on the thrill-o-meter, which suits us fine.

@Austina yay the pool guys (albeit different pool guys) showed up and accomplished a lot. Sweet. Yes those dogs have such a wonderful temperament. I love dogs. I like when the thrill o meter is low lol. Let's hope it stays that way pretty please. Yes it is shocking how Terratrike packed the frame. Unacceptable. TG we have backups. Have a wonderful day.

Coolish here 12C. Saw people in shorts!! Too windy for a ride so we went out and ate instead. Delish Italian!! LOL. I did walk the hood. I mentioned to the DH that our cycling season might be coming to an end...white stuff in the forecast. He then reminded me one year we rode in Dec...I couldn't recall.

@missy boo to the poor packaging!! Kinda unreal given the $$ product. Keep on cycling!!!

Hi everyone else. We had a good day yesterday. First up we saw the retinal specialist and all is stable. They only see referral patents but due to professional courtesy he sees us yearly and I greatly appreciate that. Then we went cycling and it was the coldest day yet. I wore ALL my layers and my heaviest clothing. It was good. On the way back we saw M and his mommy and daddy and unbeknownst to me as M greeted us Greg snapped photos. Didn't see it til this AM as I was choosing the HPOTD. OMG and LOL. Don't look at me but look at M. That face. That tongue. I am in LOVE with him. And he does love us too. He dragged his daddy down the block to get to us hahaha and his daddy is over 200lbs lolol

As M greeted me I was chatting with K and was paying attention to what she was saying hence the serious expression on my face. Their son is applying to colleges (he's super bright) and the competition is fierce among other issues I won't discuss here. Let's just say the best candidate doesn't always get the position due to reasons beyond our control that are not fair. IMO. But I digress. Hopefully he will get in everywhere he applies. He is so bright and went to an engineering high school. Best in the country actually.

Anyway look at M's face. OMG he really is the most precious baby. When I say I am in love with him I mean it.





No ice cream it was too cold for me and I was feeling very tired all day. It's been a heck of a week and yesterday it caught up with me and I just wasn't in the mood for ice cream. Poor Greg as he was a bit disappointed but he is ever the loving and supportive DH and so we went a different route to see the autumn leaves. OMG so gorgeous. Truly spectacular. So glad we skipped ice cream and went inland to see amazing peak colors. A bit early this year because of the wet and hot summer we had.



Today hoping for cycling and ice cream and hope we see M again LOL. It's one of my daily highlights.
