I am a bridge dork! I LOVE the symmetry! Here''s two pics I took while a passenger in the car. I wish we could have pulled over for a better look, but I think that is illegal or something?

I am so envious of those of you who capture nature so well. After trying for weeks to get a pic of a Ruby-throated hummingbird and a Bullock''s Oriole who regularly come to my feeders, these are the best I could do....and I had to take the pics through the glass of the sliding doors. The Oriole is very skittish and every time I blink, he flies away. His back isn''t as pretty as his front which is electric orange with a black splash. I''m not sure it''ll even show on the pic.

Oops....made the pic too small, sorry.

matata, looove the tower pic! do you have more?

Belle,

No clue...none at all!!!!

Ditto re Matata''s tower stairs picture! I really like that! I''m huffing and wheezing just thinking about climbing all those stairs!!!!

Matata,

You have such a neat garden!

Your hummingbird pic reminds me of a time I was sitting outside and one came zooming up and stopped a couple of inches in front of my nose....just hovered there for a bit checking me out and then zoomed away.....at that distance that sharp pointy little beak was mighty intimidating!

This is one of my favorite pictures as it makes me laugh every time I come across it again. It was taken in Alaska (Ketchikan I believe) many years back when it was perhaps a bit more relevant.

Photographically, it's not a great picture....but it always makes me wonder how the KGB got involved in Dog Control and why they were operating in Alaska....

matata,
the pictures of your yard are beautiful!

have you tried keeping the oriole busy with an orange? i''ve had luck with them hanging around longer that way. it takes many return trips, but they soon decide it''s okay to stay just a little longer.

Belle,

Thanks! Now I''m blushing cause I SHOULD have known that - our next door neighbor has one that grows over our fence and into our yard....it doesn''t quite look the same though. When I went to the link and saw the name I recognized it instantly....

I do like to know the names of the plants I photograph, but not enough to try to learn botany.... Thanks again!

I''m sure cflutist is going to laugh at me about this one! I guess I deserve it!!!!!

The O.C picture was taken early in the morning.
My daughter went to Hawaii in early April for a chorus competition. She absolutely loved it.
It was her first flight too.

Here''s a nice azalea picture.

It is definitely a Sea Anemone, but I think it's a local (California one). In any case, I took the picture through the glass at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center near Santa Cruz. It is a neat little museum run by the University of California. We were camping at New Brighton State Park and just went there for a visit. It's a great educational experience for kids.... Mrssalvo,

Neat picture! It almost looks like your neighbors porch is on fire....

It''s hard to get a picture of a full sun but this one does that! Neat!!!

Everyone's pictures are so fabulous!! I love the vibrant colors but I also love black and whites as well...though it seems hard to capture all elements in the photos.

Here is a photo I took in 2003 at San Gregorio Beach (St. Greg!) on a foggy overcast day. The clouds look so shadowed and I love the random person on the beach.

San Gregorio 1a.JPG

and here is one on the same day that I snapped of Greg...I had no idea this photo would come out so well when I took it...our wedding photographer loved it...we have it framed in the house.
