you know it!!!

It''s in the medcenter. We weren''t even thinking about buying a home right now, we were just "browsing," and it wasn''t even on our list of homes to see. We just happened to run across the open house sign, almost passed it up, then decided to swing back and take a look. We both absolutely fell in love

with it. I seriously can NOT live any closer to Baylor than with this place. I think it may be a 10 minute walk, which is fabulous esp since there is talk that Baylor is thinking about not subsidizing resident parking anymore

!

FTB and I are even more thrilled than you can imagine. We are both good little savers (I was able to buy my own condo straight out of college, on my own, cash, free and clear, with money that I''ve been saving since second grade (birthday money, working, excess scholarship money that I did NOT blow in college), no huge expenditures outside of our wedding and my ring). I was able to earn an academic scholarship that paid for all of my schooling (undergrad and med), he worked his way through college, so no school debt for either of us. Any extra we made got put away in a savings account. We are THE quintessential DELAYED GRATIFICATION couple, which our parents raised us to be, which you need to be to survive med school, and this is our first "enjoy life" kind of deal -- so its this HUGE release for us and we are bubbling over with joy!!! It''s taking a little maneuvering (having the condo free and clear - which has almost doubled in value from when i bought it - helps out a lot!), but we''re doing it all ourselves -- paying for the wedding and the house without any help from our parents. Some sacrificing (no more shopping sprees for the year for me
12.gif
) but we think its worth it. Both of us have strong home roots, we love being at home as much as we love going out, and with me being in residency for the next 6 years
23.gif
-- no big trips/vacations or anything to splurge on, so why not come home from call to a wonderful house that we love? One where we can comfortably have our family and friends over, finally!

ginger, i know what you mean about this being the big purchase, we felt the same way too. the funny thing is that we adore our house now whereas we did not feel that way about our old place. the result being is that we hang out at home more, entertain more, we have weekend breakfasts at home rather than going out all the time. cooking in this kitchen is fun and we can actually cook in it together. the tub is like a fun luxury where we can pretend we are on ''vacation''. the funny thing is we used to go for weekends at resorts for their big tubs and big cushy feather beds with fireplaces etc and now we have all that at home, so we have actually probably SAVED money by getting this place. Greg says when we want to get away we can just go into our master area. hehee.

and i am serious about getting spoiled. it''s BAD for us. we have this huge park outside the house and Portia has about 20 dog friends she sees on and off all week. talk about great socialization. also Greg takes the train to work 3-4 times a week which saves on gas and it''s a 5 minute walk from our place. he''s getting spoiled by not driving. on the weekends we take the train into other city downtown areas which normally would be 15-30 min drive but on the train it''s 10-20 minutes and it''s easy. great for visiting wine festivals and stuff where parking would be horrible. add all this to our dual master closets, jet jacuzzi tub, walk in wine closet, walk in pantry closet and the ISLAND and sometimes i seriously worry about the expectations we have for the NEXT place. when we look now, we really are not impressed. we would love an older house with character and a big yard too for our ''real'' home but we are now planning on staying here for another ~5-7 years because we are so happy here. so who knows! just be prepared to start to feel the same way, but in the meantime, enjoy your place to the fullest....we are!!!

THAT PLACE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOOL! Its just awesome! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE how modern it is.. There is just NOTHING like that around here. Nothing even close. The kitchen looks amazing. I LOVE that window. I''m so jealous!

Ginger,

What a great home! I love the bathroom and kitchen pics! Post more once you get your camera fixed.

Congrats!
Stephanie

Congratulations, Ginger. Your new home is amazing!!! Lucky girl.

Wow, ginger, it''s amazing! So pretty and new and clean and fresh and warm and wonderful!

I''m impressed with your "delayed gratification" history. I have a daughter who scares me b/c she''s all about INSTANT gratification. I think I''ll show her your new place when she gets home.
