Yup, my granite carseat has been cancelled!

Now I''m HOPPING MAD! I''m going to sue! Start a class action! This is SUCH an unprofessional way to handle this and I am going to call customer service right now.

Wait, I just found that *life* I was missing. Phew.

The funny thing is target is one of our accounts...I should have my colleague make some calls to corporate. Hee. Not.

That's that dunstan (or her name is something like that) baby language stuff, right? I saw the DVD. Amelia never once made those sounds. All her noises sounded like:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Suffice it to say, I never bothered any more with those DVDs.

haha, i was about to say that too....plus it is always prefaced with a red face.
Yea, Dunstan. I haven't seen the DVD and don't plan to. I can definitely hear the Neh's when he's hungry. The Owh/Eair and Heh/Eh's are harder to differentiate but I hear them.

Speaking of which, I hear some Neh's right now.

lili, cute new avatar!

yeah, jake never made any of those sounds either. honestly, he didn''t even really cry a whole lot unless he was hungry. he cried with a wet diaper when he was a newborn too. Now the wet ones don''t bother him but if it''s a #2 he''ll get fussy until he gets changed. funny boy....

sorry about the carseats ladies. I missed out on the fun. I would have tried ordering one too if I''d seen it. I don''t need one, but for the price I would have found a use for it somehow.

LOL, yeah....it was fun while it lasted but I figured when ordering it was a mistake. However, gotta pay to play, right? I just feel bad for the moms who really were over the moon that they might finally be able to afford a britax because they honestly couldn''t.

lili, love the new Av!

I''m off to see a house in an hour. Not the right time to buy for us yet, but this house is really priced low so I gotta see what is up. Neighborhood we want, sq ftage that''s 400 more than we thought we could afford and in the right price range, which is about 75K less than what''s out there right now and then some.

However, taking a lesson from the carseat thing, if it''s too good to be true......................

I agree some of these moms are taking this a little far but it would have been nice for Target to have least sent out an e-mail rather than just canceling it. Oh well. No sweat off their back.

I can''t remember T''s baby cries. Her big girl cries are pretty loud though!

TGal, good luck on the house. B/c of DH''s work I do believe in good deals (we live in one
2.gif
) Keep an open mind and get an inspection. That''s my best advice. Thanks for the camera help. Still at a loss...but I will figure it out. I haven''t gotten the go ahead from DH anyways (though this morning he did say he owed me for being a cool wife).

I agree...but it''s only been about 24 hrs after the deal, perhaps they will send out something to inform us of what happened to the order. After all, not everyone is as well informed as we are.

You do deserve something nice! Take your time deciding on whether you really need/want it. The nice thing about technology is tomorrow there is something better and cheaper.

More later tonight...TGuy is out of town, yay!!!

Got the e-mail! Should have ordered the Cow one. I guess some already shipped. Oh well. Luckily we have our roundabout.

just wanted to say hello to all the mommies!!
and lili what a cute avatar!! she is so adorable!
it''s going to be a crazy week here, with packing, running errands, and we have a cake tasting for B''s bday cake right before we leave for la. i''m pretty excited about it. his bday cake is going to be *almost* as nice as our wedding cake. sacry

I got the email too. Sounds like all the cow and granite ones are being cancelled. Oh well, it was too good to be true! Hopefully I can get one when there''s a good Britax sale.

Curly--yay for sleeping thru the night. That is fantastic! Soak it up. 3 nights in the row sounds like the beginning of a good pattern so my fingers are crossed for you.

Lili--oh my goodness, can we have a bigger view of that new avi?! Iam just in luv with your munckin

Burk--how''s T today? So nice that your daycare called to check on her, must make u really confident in their care

Tacori--There must have been something in the air this weekend cuz Co woke up to ''play'' at 1am on saturday. Took until 2:30 to put him back to sleep. Very random. At least you guys were still awake and T was all giggles. I am sure your DH''s friend just loved her.

Puffy--you made me think of a funny story when you said you were not going to be one of *those moms* who think their kids is bigger, brighter, handsomer than all the rest. I just went out for lunch with some mom friends and a new mom whom i don''t know well came along. Now, i''ll say her daughter is cute (as in all babies are cute, but she is also kinda funny looking (i know, it''s mean but true). Well she monoplozed the conversation and went on and on, and on and on for at least 30 min about how everyone stops her in grocery stores and restaurants etc. to "ohh and awww" over her (or, as my friend later put it "Eww, and AHHHH! ) so she is going to Toronto next week to sign the baby with an AGENT!! Oh boy. One of my friends tried to gently tell her that all babies get swooned over in public places, but she was having none of it. I hate to see her spend a fortune on that sort of thing, but who knows, maybe the funny looking kid will be selling pampers some day. And if not i am sure i''ll be hearing about how some ugly kid got the gig instead.

Snlee--a friend of my sister''s tried that baby language stuff and claimed success. I don''t know much about it. I am still trying to figure out my kid.

Tgal--hope the house is great! I bought a 100 year home for an insanely cheap price and re-did the whole thing so as Tacori said, just get a good inspection. You just never know...
Maybe i''ll move into your old place--hating the north right now (see below)
.......

Warning, rant: I am really envious of those of you living in warmer climates. I knew being in a colder climate would be a little harder for raising kids (more expensive with all the outdoor gear taht has to be bought every year, heating costs, driving conditions, shoveling, etc. etc.) but man can i just whine about it already.... There is snow on the ground now and what an ordeal it is to get out of the house. I got Co all bundled up (hat, mits, jacket, blanket) scraped the ice off the car, let it run to warm up, loaded up the gear, squeezed Co into his carseat when,.....yep, i see his ''poopie face''. I just *knew* he was working on a dirty diaper. So i turn off the car, unload him, take off all his gear, change is diaper, re-dress him, re-clean the snow off the car and finally get on the road. To do what you may ask? Oh, deposit a cheque. 45 min ordeal for a 5 min errand. It''s gonna be a looooooong winter
14.gif

msb, kid''s hugs and kisses makes everything all worth it isn''t it. Love the photo, he got some beautiful curls.

lili, I love your new avatar!! J is just too cute!

Curly, yeah on Lucy sleeping thru the night!!
36.gif

snlee, the only difference I can tell is from a fake cry or a real cry.

puffy, yum...cake tasting!

jas12, your post totally cracks me up. That is how I feel last week, for 3 days in a row little B will poop when we''re all ready, strap in the car seat and i smell the poop. So engine off and undress him (he is in layers of clothes), wash his butt, blow dry his butt, re-dress him and in the car. Of course we''re late for work.

Jas, that is a funny story. But you know, sometimes it''s the funky looking kids that do it. I saw this kid in a park near my house...he was half chinese and half white. He totally looked asian, face wise, with extremely pale skin and FIREY RED HAIR!!! I mean, this hair was bright orange! It was so odd looking, it was cute. And I couldn''t stop looking at the kid...which is kind of what agencies may be looking for.

I feel bad for you...was thinking how hard it would be to bundle up a baby (since I have been seeing baby winter gear everywhere. I have to say, even though we can''t currently really breathe in LA due to the fires (hey, we can never really BREATHE here, hehehe), it was nice to throw Amelia in the BOB today with just a onesie and cotton pants, with no socks!

The house was the best I''ve seen so far. Not my "dream" house but the potential to have everything we want. Everything I don''t like is very lightly cosmetic. It''s on a great street, is big for what we can afford and in a good school district. But I think they put it out at a low low price to get offers fast...their first buyer fell through and the woman looks to have secured another house already. *Sigh*. The realtor is going to sniff around a bit and see if we should even bother offering lower than asking. It would be a miracle to get this house, it really would as we don''t have our loan stuff sorted at all and offers are due tomorrow. Ha, I know, nuts. But TGuy works at a financial institution and gets a discount on loans, plus he knows the people in the loan deparment. Ah well...more nice houses will come tomorrow and the next day...I''ve looked long enough to know that.

Tacori, you''re knowledgeable about loans or something like that, aren''t you? Or your DH does something like that?

OK, off to eat something, be back in a bit.

This is Tessa''s new move when she gets tired.

MSB700, your son is handsome and growing so fast!

Burk, prayers continued for T; glad she is on the road to recovery.

TGal, I know a bit (DH knows more since he is a flipper) what''s up?

Skippy there is no way that could be comfortable! Haha! She does it all the time now. So silly.

Did the kitchen set come with that cute apron too? She is too funny. hahaha

eta: Ah, that is great! Totally true, good ole Costco! hehe

Skippy, yeah it came with the apron, pot and ladle...good old Costco! She loves opening and closing all the doors.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Tacori, Tessa is so adorable. Bless her heart, falling asleep on the floor. That is just too darn cute. I love her kitchen, she must have so much fun with that. That is a high class kitchen ha ha ha ha.

I love your new avatar picture of her. Love looking at that sweet face of hers.

For some reason I thought you were in real estate in your past life? I actually am sitting here thinking that I don''t have any concrete questions! I guess I just better research mortgages on the web as well as what to expect from a real estate agent.

Linda, actually she never falls asleep (yet anyways) she just lays there and waits for us to carry her off to bed. It''s pretty funny!

TGal, no just picked up a lot of knowledge along the way.
1.gif
Some of the offers are by State so look to see what CA''s first home buyer''s offers are. FOr example here in NC if you take a class they will give you money towards your down payment. Who doesn''t love free money! Since your DH works with a financial institution I am sure you will get good deals (less points, less fees, lower rate) and they will help you along the process. An agent is GREAT when buying since the seller pays closing costs (usually always). Good luck!

So I know you aren''t a realtor now, but I''m interested in your (or anyone else''s opinion). Is it always best for a first time buyer to have an agent?

Sorry for the threadjack mommas....

Yes, yes, yes. My husband has been in the RE business for 12+ years and he still uses an agent, even though she calls him to ask questions and his opinion on her sales.

Thanks Kimberly. Curious...why wouldn't he represent himself?

The gal thinks that while it is possible we are wasting our time with an offer (there are 4 already and the minimum offer the seller's agent is saying is 25K above what we can afford), she says we might as well throw our hat in the ring to see what happens as it's better to not get it and know than to wonder. I had initially told her what we can afford and that I wouldn't be offended if she told me it wasn't gonna happen.

We'll see. I'll call TGuy's loan guy tomorrow. I'm looking at some first time buyer's stuff now. Not sure if we qualify for anything!

Delurking to post this (made me think of you, TGAL! I know you love deals), it''s a site called Hand Me Downs.com, classifieds by Moms. Thought it looked neat.

tacori haha, she is SO cute! what a funny girl
9.gif
is she actually sleeping or just laying down like that? that kitchen is pretty popular!! i know a few little ones with that kitchen, very cute!

tgal that''s great that the house is what you''re looking for.

jas12 your story totally cracked me up! i know way too many moms like that. i get that we all think our kiddies are cute, but to brag about it extensively or to just talk about it over and over again is a bit much.

puffy
-there are just too many variables at play for us to figure out what triggered her flare up -- weather changes, flu shot, new solids, longer and more frequent baths, daycare, my diet just to name a few. there are some things that we can probably rule out. the most likely suspect that we think may be the baths. we are shortening her bath to see. in the meantime, we are using the .5% hydrocortizone on the nastier rashes.
-ooo..enjoy your disneyland trip. that magical place seems to be the one place that all children must go to. dh asked me the other day when we should get the annual pass for disneyland. it''s funny, but when you are local to an attraction, you just don''t have the urge to visit it.
-yum on the cake tasting. hehe, would definitely love to see pictures of B''s big party.

burk
-glad to hear that T is recovering. she''s a trooper to be in such high spirit even when she''s sick.
-just kick back and enjoy your vino.

Tacori
-thanks for the tips on the latches. i''m sure it won''t be long before we need to get those cabinets child-proofed.
-T is such a flirt. how cute about the giggling.
-LOL.....love the sprawling on the floor shot. she''s so dramatic too.
-what a neat kitchen set. and the apron is too cute. would love to see pix of her in it.

Puffy, no she just lays there. It is so weird but of course highly amusing! I love the kitchen I wanted something WOODEN vs plastic (much to my MIL''s dismay) and gender neutral.

Lili, she is a flirt and usually very outgoing. She seems to have fun playing with the kitchen but is FAR from pretend play. Right now it is about taking out the sink, opening and closing all the doors and playing with the pot. Baby proofing makes things easier. If we didn''t she would throw everything out of every cab. and drawer.

TGal, YES! You should use an agent as a first time buyer. I will say DH does not list ANY of his homes with an agent (which he is not by the way) and does a $300 flat fee listing to put his home on the MLS and only buys with an agent a small % of the time. I do think as a seller you can save a lot of money by not using one (well, 2.5-3% actually. Haha) but he knows the contracts and how the game works so he doesn''t need one.

Tgal--i did not use an agent and had zero problems. And when we nearly bought a house a few months ago we did the leg work on our own as well (however, i am not sure if US real estate is quite different so my advice might be pointless). That house sounds great and i totally agree that you should just put an offer in and see what happens. There are just so many variables and it''s not uncommon for deals to fall thru and all of a sudden your offer looks good. Do you have conditions?
Re: funny looking kids--i luv interesting looking kids/adults. In general, the ppl i find most beautiful in the world are mixed race. This kid is not one of those--ha
5.gif

Tacori--oh i luv T''s drama queen moments. I love when toddlers go thru that stage (i''ll remember these words when i have my own toddler and will take them back i bet ;o) so darn cute. I noticed T has polka dots on in so many of her pics. I think if i had a girl you and i would be buying all the same stuff.

Lili--I might have some tips for J''s rash--i know for my eczema the two things that make it flare up the most are: moisture and dairy products.
For sure limit the baths and then find a cream that you can slather her in as soon as you''ve dried her off ( i use a eurcerin based product) make sure it has no perfumes or anything. Only dress in cotton, don''t overheat etc.
The biggest dietary triggers are dairy, wheat and sugar (and sometimes citrus)
The pollution in your area might also be a big factor that unfortunately you can''t do much about
hydrocortizone cream works, but only temporarily. It can damage the skin over time. My hands are a total mess b/c of it. I use it to get a big flare-up under control and then try to keep it at bay. Hopefully J will just outgrow it, that does happen to some kids.
(P.S. i want a big copy of that avi missy!)

Bobo--forgot to mention before, that avi is just hilarious, so cute
