HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY AMELIA!!!

Pave, little B is like that the first 3 months. He won''t nap in the day time and whenever I put him down he cries. The swing don''t work for him so I held him most of his awake time.

lili, i don''t think DH secretly asked him, he was as shocked as I was. Sorry to hear M was constipated, hope she is better.

puffy, I think I''ll start *thinking* about baby #2 when we''re all move in to the new house and everything is settle in. How about you? thinking of baby #2 yet?

Udate on little B: the appt. with the nutrtionist went well. She said we did everything right and look like he is eating enough food. She calculated that little B should be getting around 960 calorie per day and the food he eat only comes to about 650 calories a day. I guess little B''s been eating too *lean* she suggested that we add more fat to his diet. Butter to his toast, avocado with banana, peanut butter etc. So we are on a mission to fatten our baby up!

I''m late to the party (no pun intended!) but just wanted to pop in and say happy b-day to darling Amelia!

Happy birthday Amelia!!!

Snlee - I''m glad D is doing well sleeping and he''s such a cutie.

Tacori - That diet seems extreme to me - I don''t blame you either.

Pave - James is a "crybaby" these days too. Sometimes he just wants to cry and there''s nothing anybody can do about it. He''s so big now that it''s hard to hold him when he''s flailing all around so we put him in his crib and sit in the rocker until he calms down.
15.gif
It is really tough.

Will check in a bit later

Well, Miss Tayva vomited at daycare this morning so we''re at home. Not sure if it''s a flu bug or her poor sensitive stomach. She''s been pretty happy here, but I had to cancel her appt with her allergist just in case it is a bug I don''t want to infect other kiddos. She''s slept quite a bit so far so I''ve been working on finding a lot. We''re struggling picking where we actually want to build. Finally agree on a floor plan, but need the land to build it on!

Tgal~Hope the dinner went well. I''m looking forward to pics of the birthday girl!

Pave~Just want to add, that while some babies are indeed just hard to keep happy, your Tyler shows all the signs of reflux/tummy pain. Bloody and mucosy stools aren''t normal. Please continue to work with your doctor and if you don''t think your doctor is doing enough ask to be referred to a pedi GI specialist. Ours changed our lives! *Hugs*

lili~My girl doesn''t like being strapped down either! (big surprise there, I know) Some times she''ll actually grunt and try and get out.
20.gif
Same thing as J, the second she''s out, she''s fine!

QT~Building really is great because we will have everything we want when it''s all said and done. Hope M''s feeling better today!

puffy~Yea, timeout. She''s usually an angel so the caregivers were probably more upset about it than she was!
9.gif

Bobo~Glad the appt went well. We''re right there with you trying to pack on pounds...if you come across anything that works for you guys please let me know. Tayva eats 3 meals and 2 snacks a day (and plenty of calories according to the nutritionist) and we still haven''t got an ounce on her since her 12 month check up.

Diva~sorry James is having a rough time. Is he upset about his teeth maybe?

hi Burk! thanks for the encouragement! I do wear a sling and it works great. he is all squished up with legs crossed in front of him so I don''t understand why he would be comy there and not in car seat except for closeness to me. at the track yesterday I walked there with him screaming in stroller and then did laps with him in sling. My back was pretty sore last night and I only did 3 laps. abs are weak and he is getting hungry.
i was just on line with my friend a nurse from allergist office. she said to try elim soy and wheat and see where i get, then get to allergist if it continues(mucus/blood). did u see allergist and gi, right?

hope you all are doing well! thanks for the encouragement/support.

Pave~I'm glad the sling works! I used to walk on the treadmill with Tayva in her sling all the time!
2.gif
We took T to an allergist when she was maybe 4 months old and he referred us to the GI doc. When they're that little the allergists don't like to do the allergy testing because a lot of times they grow out of it anyway and it's a blood draw and MISERABLE for the baby. When T got older (11 months maybe) we took her back to the allergist and now she sees both-her allergist for her asthma and allergies and the GI doc for her tummy issues. I agree with your friend about eliminating soy and wheat because they're on the top of the most common. However, most of these specialists are soooo hard to get into so I wouldn't hesitate to make an appt now because you may not get in for weeks or even months and if he feels better by then you can always cancel. Just my opinion, though. Keep me posted!!

Burk- thanks for the tip! I am lucky that my friend assured me she will get me in right away! she''s a sweet friend:)
My dh just surprised me during his lunch hour which was really sweet of him. I think he is feeling bad for me and tyler these days. he is putting tyler down for a nap- he seems really tired today. probably feels pretty cr*ppy(are we allowed to say that on here)?
I am gonna try to go to trader joes today and get some fresh veggies/chicken/etc and try to hunker down and stay away from processed foods etc. I know it will be healthier for me anyway.
hope T is feeling better. is she still sleeping? any more vomiting? Is your dh away right now? You always seem so relaxed about everything. that is a great attitude! can you pass me some? see you later!

Hi gals...

Driveby to give stats on Amelia''s one year appt.

Height, 32" 97%ile
Weight: 22lbs 7 oz 75%ile (but she was weighed with a diaper on.
Head: 44.5 cm - 25%.ile

I have to take her to physical therapy (for the fact that she isn''t crawling on hands and knees so she''ll get a full PT eval) AND occupational therapy (because she is not eating) AND taking her to a orthapedic specialist to check out her bone structure in her foot. Ain''t childrearing fun???
20.gif

The doc seems to think she has a cautious personality which is delaying all these things. He said he''s seen it in other children and we may have a long term problem with her eating. At this point, he thinks it''s all behavioral. I just tried giving her grapes. She gagged and gagged. I put one cheerio in her bowl and she dug around to find it and popped it into her mouth.
29.gif

Obviously I''m concerned, but not overly so. She''s tracking very similarly to me.
40.gif
I actually remember being a very cautious (read: CHICKEN) little kid. I didn''t like food, my mom said, until I was 4 or 5. And yet, now I''m the gutsy one of all my friends and you can''t keep food out of my mouth - I eat everything! But I''d still rather do all I can to help her out now.

Oh, and she got a few vacs today, MMR was one of them.

bobo glad the appt went well. i hope you guys are able to fatten little B up, although i do think he is perfect just the way he is. we''ll start to think about TTC #2 around summer time. we have so many vacations planned that i really don''t want to get preggo before july or so. i have been looking forward to these vacations and nothing is going to ruin them for me. SELFISH i know!!

burk how is T doing? hope she is better. being home with her is fun though i bet.

tgal awww, poor amelia has so many appts to go to. i am sure she will be fine. she sounds pretty healthy and a tall girl for sure! i had to giggle about the cheerio and how she dug it out from the bottom and popped it in her mouth. how was her birthday?

gotta run..the monkey is up from his nap. i call him a monkey lately cause he is just jumping, climbing, and hanging onto everything and anything. this morning he was hanging from my arm and tried to swing to my other arm at the same time. crazy boy!!

Burk, sorry to hear Tayva vomited at daycare. Hope she is not sick again. As for weight gain method, I''m thinking stuffing him with butter what you think? J/K I''m going to try avocado, I remember the nutritionist said that 2 tablespoons of avocado have 45 calories.

TGal, I can''t help to laugh while reading your post, Amelia is so much like little B when it comes to eating. He''ll gagged and gagged on food he don''t like for ex: cheerio or puffs but he''ll be wide open with big "ah..." with fruits.

I think it''s behavioral too, but of course you want to get it check out just to be safe.

Thanks puffy, Your not selfish, you deserve the vacations.

Pave~That's awesome that you have such a great friend who can give you advice and get you in to the doc if need be!! And, how sweet is your DH?! Good luck with your new menu! Thank goodness it's spring and there are a bunch of fresh fruits and veggies you can eat. T is doing good. She slept for 2 1/2 hours this afternoon and just went down for the night (6:40) so she must have something going on...just not quite sure what. She hasn't vomited again. She hasn't eaten much, though. I'm not too concerned. We've been through it all with her. If I let myself get worked up each time something didn't go according to "plan" I'd be a wreck! It does get easier to have a "glass half full" attitude....like when Tyler starts sleeping through the night!
2.gif
I'm here to help pass on some positive any time you need it!
21.gif

Tgal~A is such a tall, skinny girl. Sorry about the upcoming appointments, but I agree it's better to be proactive and try and help her now. Still looking forward to pics....
41.gif

Puffy~So cute about your little monkey! It was nice being home with T today. She was pretty happy, but didn't eat well and has slept quite a bit.

ETA~Bobo-we must have been posting at the same time. Avacado sounds like a good idea. I may have to try that. We do a lot of cereal bars, pancakes, bread, extra fruits.

Tgal--wow, Amelia is SO tall (lucky duck). i am sorry to hear that she has to have those checkups but i think it is good reassurance that you shared a similar childhood. My grams constantly tells me stories about my aunt who would NOT eat--she actually broke down in hysterics once at the Dr''s office cuz she was afraid her daughter was starving. The Dr. did not panic and now my aunt is just like you -a huge foodie & the best cook in the family. Go figure.
Do you have pics of A''s b-day " party"? I''ve been checking in anticipation
1.gif

wish i had more time to catch up--i go back to work on monday so i''ve been prepping for that (getting work clothing figured out and brushing up on high school math-ha) , getting snuggles in with the monster and working on house stuff (we have plans and start building in a few weeks
6.gif
36.gif

Co is running me ragged with his ONE 1-hour nap, the house is in shambles and i am a little frazzled, but all is well. At least i started baking a month ago for the b-day party on Friday so that is under control
16.gif

Hello to the gang
35.gif

Burk--
LOL...missed the part about T pushing a little boy and doing the finger shake
9.gif

Too cute.

Bobo--
Little B wants a playmate :)
Sounds like you got some tips on beefing up little B.
I gave J avocado as well....she just loves it (has to be the Haas Avocado though).
I sometimes mix it in w/ yogurt or her breastmilk so it''s not too thick and creamy.

Diva--
I sympathize with you on a flailing baby.
And it certainly doesn''t help that we are tiny mommas
8.gif

Hope James feel better soon.....is it his teething?

TGal--
Hope A had a blast on her bday!
Get your computer fixed and upload those bday pictures!
Wow, she''s a tall girl and skinny too!
Poor A...so many appts to go to.
I''m sure everything is ok.
J gags on fruits as well (the fresh ones).
Have you tried the freeze-dried fruits?
I got the strawberries and mango from TJ and J just gobble those up.

Jas12--
Congrats on the plans and starting construction!
36.gif
36.gif

Boo on starting work though.
How is the weaning going?
Wow, can''t believe you got his bday goodies done that early.
We love to see pictures of your treats as well as the birthday boy.

Lili,

Saw your new avi... how very, very cuteness! The pigtails and that smile. Awww!!!
30.gif

Happy birthday to Amelia (I can''t believe it... I think Ttot was the first baby I followed from birth on here!) and Cohen! Yay for being ONE!!!

Happy Birthday to all our April babies!!! Can't wait to see party pics!

I'm still reading when I can and trying to keep up with what's going on with all the babies/kiddies here. They're all getting SO big and more beautiful and handsome by the day
30.gif

Gabie and Katelyn are now almost 16 months old! They're running around and talking quite a bit. They say "cak-ah" (cracker) NONSTOP - it was their first word (both of them on the same day), and *everything* that comes in a box is a cracker to them: waffles, frozen ravioli, cereal, crackers, whatever. They ruff ruff, meowwww!!!!, mooo, and quack quack quack all the time too. So stinkin' cute! They know their noses, bellies, toes ("tzzz" according to Ms.K), fingers, mouths, eyes, ears, hair, heads, etc. Pretty smart little buggers! But at the risk of sounding too much like a proud mama, I have to say that Gabe is also becoming a master tantrum thrower. And that is NO fun!

OK, off to go find some good pics to share!

Here''s a portrait of us from back in February, when the babies were 14 months old ...

And our little MAN Gabie

I couldn''t edit my original post, but I wanted to add their 15-month stats, just because I always think it''s fun to see how much height and weights vary between same-age(ish) kids. (I''m a nerd.)

Gabe: 23 lbs, 31 inches
Katelyn: 20 lbs, 1 oz (yay, we finally cracked 20 lbs!), 30 inches

Bobo - I don''t know if I''ve suggested this before, but have you looked into the high-cal formula for him? I know you can get it in just about any store around here. We feed James cereal with just about every meal for the calories - but he''s a little piggie
3.gif

Burk - I do think that James is upset because of his teeth. They''re still not poking through yet
15.gif
. We''re hoping soon because it''s so heartbreaking to see him get so upset because it''s so unlike him. His bottom gums are rigid in the very front - right where the front bottom two would be so hopefully soon. I hope that T is feeling better!

Tgal - Wow, Amelia is such a tall girl - lucky! I''m sorry to hear that she''s having with food. James does''t put anything in his mouth - including food. We recently tried puffs but no luck. It does sound like she''s just being cautious and I was the same way as a child and I think I turned out okay
41.gif

Jas12 - Congrats on getting close to building your house! DH and I would really like to build someday but we aren''t totally sure what we want to do yet. It must be an exciting time for your family.

Lili - Your new avatar is sooo cute! You should post a bigger picture of it
12.gif
.

Ella - I can''t believe how old G and K look in your family picture! K has the prettiest blue eyes too.

Ella!!!! OMG look at how big the twins are getting! It is SO cool that you each have a little look-alike. I can''t believe K''s big blue eyes and G''s darker features--so similar to you and DH. It is really neat.
Aww, animal sounds are adorable! They know so many! Co just started the moo and meow but he is very stingy with them. I think iam obsessed with getting one on video b/c i just think it is so darn cute.
Are the twins best of friends or are they starting to fight yet? Are u still home with them full time?

Lili--i''ll post some pics of the party food in the cupcake thread, and a few party pictures on here next week --just for you
2.gif
I luuuv to entertain/bake so i am totally going to be one of those moms that goes over the top for b-day parties.
As for weaning--the 12pm nursing is out. Took about 2 weeks and now he doesn''t bother me for it. So i''ll nurse at 8am before work, 3pm when i get home and again before dinner. I am hoping to get rid of the 3pm by the end of this month and the morning and night nursing by June. You?

Ella, love the family photo; what a beautiful family!!
30.gif
aww, the twins have grown so much!!! they are adorable
1.gif

Jas12~Hey there! Yay for the house!! What kind of plan did you settle on? Two story or One? Bedrooms/baths? I''m so excited for you!! We are pretty set on our plan, but are struggling to decide on land.

lili~Adorable new av!!

Ella~hey there!!! Your family is lovely! I cannot believe how big all our kids are getting. Look at all of K''s teeth! Some times I just sit and watch T play and think "wow."

Diva~I bet those teeth are in soon. Have you tried the teething tablets or tylenol to give him some relief?

Tayva''s tummy seems to be better (no vomiting and she''s eating better) but she''s still not really herself. She was a mama''s girl this morning, though. Wanted to be held all morning long
33.gif
...this is so NOT my kid. So something must be up.

Burk - We give him infant Motrin to help with the discomfort. The Tylenol didn''t seem to do anything.

Funny story - I was playing with James on the floor last night and put him on his tummy with some toys spread out in front of him to encourage to him crawl. He propped himself up on his arms and scooted backwards! It was so funny and cute. He did it more than once too! Now if we can get him to move forward.......

lili OMG...we NEED a bigger version of your AV...that has got to be the cutest little girl i have ever laid my eyes on!!! her hair is really long too!! i love you J!

ella awwww, your babies are so grown up, and i love K''s eyes...so big and blue! Gabe is just a cutie pie and your family portrait is beautiful. i can barely keep up with 1 kid, how do you do it with 2 toddlers?!?!? you are amazing...seriously. they sound so darn cute with animal sounds and everything. B does that too, but i have to say that the one BIG thing that my B and your Gabe have in common is....the serious tantrums!!! he''s actually throwing one right now.

Burk, pancakes and cereal bars sounds good *sigh* wish I can just feed him fried chicken and cake, that will puff him up way faster.

Jas, are you making cuppies for Co''s birthday?

lili, love your new avatar!!! J is such a cutie pie! I normally eat my avocado with soy sauce, wonder if little B will take it that way.

Hi Ellaila, long time no *see* How are you? Can''t believe the twins are so big. Love your family photo. Ms.K got beautiful big blue eyes just like her mama and Gabie look just like his daddy.

Diva, we have looked into high-cal formula but since little B is on soy formula there no high-cal soy formula out there on the market. As for cereal, we *spike* his formula with cereal for every bottle.

fisher--
thanks. she was really enjoying her snack. i had another pix of her with a cheesier grin (but her eyes were closed to a slit :P)

ella--
so good to "see" you and G&K.
love your family picture -- what a gorgeous family.
can''t believe your kiddos are that big already.
look at MsK with her big girl smile -- look at all those teeth!
and G is such a handsome little fella.
your new avi is just the cutest -- twice the enjoyment with those two little bums walking down the path!
awww...two little chatterboxes. how cute it must be to hear them constantly yapping w/ one another.
LOL....had to laugh at "cak-ah". i thought they were learning to tell you that they needed a diaper change
41.gif
9.gif

anyway, hope you don''t stay away too long this time.
we missed you all.

Diva--
Thanks...I''ll try to get that bigger version later.
That''s too cute about James crawling backwards.
I have seem some kids do that
5.gif

You should take this opportunity to teach him how to get off a couch or something
41.gif

J was going forward from the getgo when she crawled....and it took her the longest time to go backward when she''s trying to get off high places.
Took a couple of head dives
38.gif

Jas12--
How funny, J is doing the moo thing too.
Except she doesn''t do the lips pucker when she does it, so her moo''s sound like an elephant toot
9.gif

Glad to hear that Co is weaned of the noon feeding.
I''ll start J on whole milk this weekend and see how she well she tolerates it.
Then we''ll wean as soon as we can since I don''t think my poor girls can tolerate any more of those accidental bitings
14.gif

Burk--
Glad to hear T is feeling better w/ no vomitting.
Enjoy those cuddle while she''s not herself.
You know once she''s better, it''s ba bye mommy
3.gif

Puffy--
Awweee..thanks. I''ll post the bigger pix later.
Still haven''t gotten the hats yet. Will try to do it this weekend.

Bobo--
Avocado w/ soy sauce? Hmmm...I''ve never done that.
I eat my avocado with milk like a shake -- mushed up half an avocado and a little of sugar and swirl in a cup of milk --
18.gif

Apparently, it is not too common since some people give me a disgusted look when I tell them.
