MrsM - Amelia looks so cute in the bumbo. SIL just got M a bumbo; I can''t wait til M is old enough to use it.

Tacori - Can''t believe Tessa is already 9 months. She is a big girl now.

Lili, Jas12, Tgal - Are your babies going through the 4 months wakeful period?

Janine--water is all NB need to get clean for the first little while. At around one month i started bathing Cohen with all natural oatmeal soup every second bath. Very occasionally I use a zinc ointment if i see redness on his bum. I don''t use any lotions or creams on a regular basis but I do massage him with a bit of pure olive oil or mineral oil if his skin is dry.

Tacori--good check-up. Your pedi sounds nice.

Tgal--amelia is strong! Funny that she does that so often. I guess eventually we won''t be able to stop them from sleeping on their bellies, but right now it''s kinda scary b/c they''re in transition. Co can''t go from back to belly yet but boy does he shift around a lot. I might put him at the front end of the crib facing south and he''ll be at the bottom facing north by the end of the nap
33.gif

So i think i have some work to do in order to transition Co to a 4-hour routine, he can go 4 hours in b/w feeds now but he is still really on a 3 hour routine so i think this accounts for his poor sleep habits lately. Out of curiosity I went back to the baby whisperer and read about 4 month olds and lo behold he has some of the textbook 4-month ''issues'' creeping in. He was wonderful on the 3 hour e.a.s.y. routine so i am hoping the 4 hour will work just as well. I think i also have to read my family the riot act- they need to lay off the stimulation close to his bedtime. My big, *LOUD* italian fam. eat dinner together every night at the cottage. The dining room has a cathedral ceiling so it is so echo-y. 10 noisy relatives all obsessing over the poor kid leaves Co overstimulated and tired right before bedtime (but try telling that to my 88 year old Nona, it won''t go over well)

Tacori~Sorry T had a rough ride home. I can imagine you were pretty stressed. Sounds like your pedi is awesome and T is doing great! Cannot believe she''s 9 months, though!!

Tgal~Thanks. I thought the pontyail was fun. I was so worried it would fall out and she''d put it in her mouth that I took it out when it came to nap time.
16.gif
T went throught the rolling stage during sleep around Amelia''s age. She would wake in the middle of the night and scream because she was on her stomach...but every time I put her on her back she''d roll right back over. It was like she couldn''t be comfortable no matter what she did, though. She wasn''t happy on her tummy and she would roll back to it when she was on her back. It took a couple days but then she just got used to sleeping on her stomach. Now she rolls, scoots, whatever in there. I go in to get her from naps and she''s in crawling position rocking back and forth. Crazy babies.

Lili~I''m working on a good pic of the curls...since they''re blond they don''t show up well in pics. When I get one I''ll post it for ya! I hear ya on the CIO issues. T gets so worked up that she chokes and pukes as well. And then I feel all guilty because of her reflux.... Hopefully giving up those foods will help J. I can relate because I did some crazy stuff with my diet when I was BFing to try and help T''s diet....to the point where I was only eating turkey, potatoes and pears!

Soflly~Thanks! She is a very happy girl!

MRsM~Adorable pics of you and your little doll. Too cute!!

Jas12~Tayva still isnt'' really in a 4 hour routine and she''ll be 7 months Monday. She eats every 4 hours. I think it has to do with the fact that she takes short naps (45-1 hour) and has 3 a day still. I''m kind of hoping that daycare will get her in a routine with a longer afternoon nap. Lord knows I tried...no success.
14.gif

Well day two of back to work is done. It actually went fast and T is LOVING daycare. All the "big girls" at daycare gave me the report of her day today. It was so cute. They told me she smiles at them every time they look at her and told me how they had her giggling and how cute she is and how they couldn''t wait to play with her tomorrow. It was really cute and I''m feeling better about daycare and I am looking forward to meeting my new students at work. Okay. Tired from being back in the up at 6 am camp. Yuck. G'' nite.

MrsM, I can't believe how thick her hair is! She is so cute.

TGal, she is a shortie like me poor girl. I would say her eyes are green these days. Who knows WHERE they will end up. I would be shocked if they turned brown so late but I guess you never know. My MIL would NOT be happy
20.gif
38.gif
3.gif
Her hair keeps changing colors too.

Q, it was SO strange to set up her 1 year appointment today
32.gif
She is getting so big SO fast.

Jas12, he is really nice. DH loves him too. Makes it easier to get him to come to the appointments. It is so hard when babies get overstimulated. Not sure when that ends. I think T STILL has that problem.

Burk, we made it and that is all that matters.
1.gif
Next time I am making DH come though
2.gif
I cannot believe she is almost one (or that Delaney or Ian or Jon or Sabrina) are too. This year has gone by so fast. I do have to say I LOVE this age. She is so funny and charming. Sounds like T is winning them over. She really is a beautiful girl (but obviously since I have seen her parents
2.gif
)

MsF, I forgot to ask, what kind of camera do you use b/c those are awesome pictures!?!?!!!!

Here is a recent picture of Tessa. She loved "playing" my parent''s piano.

T_playing-piano.jpg

QT, I am not sure what you mean by 4 month wakeful period? Do you mean they just wake up more? If so, today afternoon was a doozy because Amelia was having way too much fun rolling around to nap. She conked out in her carseat on the way home at 5 when I was running an errand and is in bed again now. So far it''s quiet up there, but ya never know...

Janine, I used water in the beginning and that was it. About a month old I started using baby wash...Aveeno, I think? I like it fine. I use the lotion after bathtime, although I really don''t know if she needs it.

Jas, I thought Cohen was rolling over? Is it front to back then? Amelia has been doing it (back to front) right around her 4 month check up but has only been going full force with it since this week. Now every time she ends up on her side, she rolls right over. She''s not too good at it as her arm gets stuck almost every time. And I hear ya on the shifting. Amelia has been spinning donuts in her crib for some time now...I miss those days when I put her down and came to her in the morning in the same spot!

So I spoke to soon...Amelia just screamed and I went upstairs and she was wedged facedown into the side rail (not enough room to get totally on the belly). Poor thing. I don''t know how some people get by with cushy bumpers. If Amelia had one, she would have been nearly wedged underneath I think!

Jas, what are the textbook 4 month old issues? As far as the routine goes, I find mixing it up a bit helps. Amelia seems pretty good at what I throw at her, even if it isn''t totally routine. I am going to start doing more routine bedtime stuff, like stories, as Amelia just gets put down after a nighttime bottle at the moment. Oh, and she gets a kiss of course.
1.gif

Burk, thanks for the info on T and what she did in her crib. I think in the next few days I will leave her on her tummy and see if she can settle down and just lie there. Glad daycare is going well and rest up!

Well, I got a big box of clothes today for $20. Totally worn but all practical stuff. I feel kind of bad getting her totally secondhand clothes, but then I look at the box with all her 0-3 month stuff which cost a pretty penny and I don''t feel so bad.

Awwww!!

Tacori how tall are you? I recall you looking pretty tall in your wedding photos...

That little Tessa melts my heart!!!! That adorable little face of hers. She is so darling Tacori. Please give her a hug and a kiss for me.

Linda

Tacori
Awwww....look at little Tessa playing the piano
5.gif

She''s such a cutie and she''s growing so fast too.
Don''t worry too much about her being a shortie....she may be a late bloomer.
In all honesty, I wished J didn''t grow as fast.
If she continues at the rate she''s growing, I may not be able to hold her soon!

the bumbo pix of Amelia.
She''s a doll...and a splitting imagine of you...right down to the hair!
She''s the first baby I''ve seen with that much hair....I think she''s even got more hair than me!

Burk
Can''t wait to see the curlies.
I may have to go on that diet eventually.
It seems like everything I like to eat are allergy food -- dairy, soy, nuts, wheat, eggs, chocolate, etc.
I''ll probably give J another month or two before trying the CIO again.
Hate to think that she''s already got me figured out -- cry hard enough and puke all over and mommy will come
32.gif

Glad to hear that Tayva is loving her daycare.

Jas12
I know, it''s scary to think they know how to work the system at this tender age.
I hope so too that this is a phase -- a short one hopefully.
Hehe, I know...I''m not a morning person myself and when she gets up at 7 and refuses to go back down...
I find myself begging her to give me five more minutes of sleep by playing by herself.

Regarding reactions to breastmilk....I hope you are right.
I''ve always had dairy and soymilk, even when I was preggo.
I''ll try the soy for now and see how it goes.

TGal
Yay for Amelia rolling over.
It''s a happy and sad moment, don''t ya think?
I''m happy that they are developing nicely, but sad because they are growing so fast
and also because now we can''t just leave them unattended on the bed.
It won''t be long now before they are mobile.

QT
Do you mean them waking up earlier than usual or refusing to go down?
I wouldn''t know cuz Jadie has always been a catnapper and doesn''t sleep nearly as long as Amelia

Well aren''t all of our kids geniuses? I bet they learned the system when they were 2 weeks old! Hehehe...

lili, is J rolling over both ways? I haven''t been reading up on what the milestones are supposed to be, so I have no idea. Does she push up on her arms yet?

Tonight was somewhat merciful...Amelia only rolled over twice before falling asleep so it only took about 15 minutes before she was out. Phew. This afternoon, she flipped around for TWO HOURS and I finally gave up and grabbed her out of her crib to feed her. (She did snooze for about 30 minutes within that 2 hours though.

Tgal, lili - I don''t know if I use the right term. But from what I''ve read, babies at 4 month can have sleep difficulties due to cognitive and emotional developments. They are more alert and interested in their surrounding, and their sleep schedules get messed up.

Hm...well, I have noticed that she is more cognitive and emotive, but so far her sleep schedule hasn''t changed all that much. Perhaps because there is nothing interesting about her surroundings in her crib. No mobile, nothing on the walls. White ceiling, white walls, white sheets, green bumper. I didn''t intentionally make it that boring but it just sort of turned out that way.

Q, I actually noticed a HUGE improvement with T''s sleeping at 4 months. Maybe b/c that is the age you can sleep train.

TGal, I am only 5''1" (DH is 6'') You must be thinking of someone else''s wedding photos
2.gif

Linda, I will give her two kisses and hugs from you
9.gif
Hope you are doing well.

Lili, she is so heavy at 19 lbs I cannot imagine you guys with "bigger" babies. If she never blooms, that''s okay too. If you gotta be short it seems much easier to be a woman than a man.

Tess is soooooooooo adorable, put that kid in movies!
emsmile.gif
Seriously, such a cutie as are all the other PS babies...they are growing so fast!

Thanks for the feeback on NB baths..it helps! I''m feeling clueless on what to stock up on..or lets''s say how much to stock up on the first few months, especially since we are in such a tight space.

TGal: is there a difference between Pampers Swaddlers and Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive? Do you stick to pampers wipes as well?

hi friends. i''m in the process of moving and no internet yet so I''ve only got time for a drive by (literally, i''m in a buffalo wild wings parking lot) swipping their wi-fi
3.gif
(we did eat here last night so i don''t feel too bad
17.gif

anyway, will catch up more later: here''s the stats from jake''s 4 month:

weight- a whopping 16 lbs 11 oz (95%)
height- 25 1/2 (75%)

don''t remember the head...he''s a big happy boy.
Jas12- i''m not starting solids at all. he''s doing great on breastmilk and obviously getting enough food so i''m holding off until 6 months unless he starts acting like he''s still hungry.

love all the new baby pics
30.gif
30.gif

back soon for more detailed check in....

janine, thanks! We adore her. I use all in one baby soap since the start (I know J&J and Huggies both make one) easier than separate soap. She gets about 3 baths a week. I rarely use lotion. She really doesn't need it. Diaper rash cream when she has a problem (like traveling or something where she is sitting in her diaper longer than usual). I also like huggies wipes over pampers. They are thicker. The pamper swaddler's sensitive have the pee indicator.

ETA: MrsS good luck with the move! Jake is a happy baby. So cute!

oh real quick...

Q- my sister uses the baby au lait- cover-up thing and loves it. She uses it everywhere all the time. I think it''s more obvious that she''s nursing but she feels a lot more comfortable when she has to nurse in public and that is what''s important.

Good to see you back Tacori! I love the new pic of Tessa in your avatar, she looks so cute!

Tacori--i wish i had gotten a lighter careseat. I''ll have to remember that next time.
luv the new pic and avi.

Tgal--Cohen has been rolling over from front to back for a couple of months but has only gone from back to front once. I think Amelia is doing that early. He also does not go up on his arms very often. He absolutely hates being on his belly.
As for 4 month old issues, one of the questions the BWer asks is "did your baby once sleep long stretches and now no longer does" that applied to Cohen. He is waking up more now than he did as a NB. According to her he needs to eat every 4 hours so that he is very hungry at each feeding and will take a big feed and get used to going longer stretches. He also now only takes a max. 45 min nap 3x a day. Again, that should be remedied by a 4 hour routine that includes 2 longer naps (she advocates the PU/PD routine to extend naps and claims it may be very hard to accomplish at first but eventually the babies will catch on) I was so skeptical of the 3 hour E.A.S.Y. routine but stuck with it for 2 weeks and then it was like i had a new child --i am hoping the same thing will happen. If amelia is doing fine the way things are going then no need to change (she claims some babies just automatically transition themselves and some need lots of coaxing). There are several other things she mentions that occur around 4 months but i won''t bore you. I think most of it has to do with their new awareness and development as someone mentioned.
3.gif

MrsS. Wow, Jake is thriving! You''re right, absolutely no need to introduce solids to that boy! I have decided to hold off on the solids till 6 months (or thereabouts). I would luv to wait till after our trip to europe but he will be 6.5 months so i am not sure if that''ll happen.
You must be exhausted. Moving is hard enough--moving with little kids is craziness
14.gif

Jas, Co is obviously smarter than Amelia. Since he hates tummy time, it makes sense he flips from tummy to back. My girl also hates tummy time...so I have to ask her, WHY flip over onto your tummy then? REPEATEDLY?
20.gif

Hey, feel free to bore me...I find all that stuff really interesting.

Tacori, no it was your pics (I remember them well). You just looked about 5''5" to me, but now I have to go look again to see!
1.gif
And trust me, I can''t imagine how A is going to feel at 9 months! However the weight gain does slow down...my friend''s boy was 17 pounds at 4 months. Now at 10 months he''s probably about 23 pounds.

Janine, I use Costco wipes...love them. A bit thinner than something like the huggies wipes, but they are nice and moist and don''t seem to tear or anything. I don''t know what other differences there are between sensitive and reg other than the indicator strip. I never used the sensitive because I didn''t know they had the strip, but I would have had I known. And it doesn''t hurt to use a "sensitive" diaper when they are that young anyway.

Woo hoo...go Jake! That is excellent...he is thriving for sure. Have a great move!

TGal
Yep, she roll overed both ways.
She hates being on her back more since she'll pretty much rolled to her tummy as soon as I put her on the bed or the gym mat.
It was the funniest thing when she was first trying to roll over to her tummy.
She'd be on her back and have both of her legs perpendicular to the floor and swing with all her might and just flopped down to her side with no result.
She'd gather her energy and did it repeatedly. Her cousin was laughing at the clip I had.

I haven't picked up any books on baby development -- who has time? Just read whatever update is on babycenter.
Thought the next one is sitting on her own...but I think you may be right about pushing up on her arm.
She's done that several times. Her dad thinks that she'll be crawling before learning on how to sit.

That's good that Amelia wasn't as flippy
5.gif
last night.
Probably had enough fun during her afternoon flippings

hehehe, I always said J made up for the lack of sleep by being very advance in her motor skills!

It''s not uncommon for that to happen...my friend''s boy (the one who was 17 lbs at 4 months) crawled before he could sit up properly without any help and without toppling forward. He sat up at about 8.5 months and crawled at 7.

I just have what to expect the first year, but yeah...I just like the updates on babycenter.

Could be...but J''s never was good at staying down...
She''s too much of a busy body to remain asleep even when she was younger.
She''d be falling asleep and her eyes would pop right open as soon as she hears a voice
or if she spot something new.

On the emotional development part, I can tell you she does definitely let us know if she''s not happy with something -- scream bloody murder
14.gif

How are you guys doing?
Any more updated pix of sweet Meena?

MrsS
Oh wow, Jake is a big happy boy :)
You must have really good arm muscles by now
41.gif

Good luck on the move.

Lorelei, It is great to be back even if it is just for a few days. Next week I''ll be back for good! This summer has been fun but CRAZY. Thank you for your sweet compliments (as always)

Jas12, I probably would wait until you get back from Europe too. Since you are BFing, it will be so easy to feed Co while you travel. The first month of solids is tough. Remember naked T''s pics. Thankfully it DOES get easier.

TGal, the photographer must have had good angles....well I was wearing 3" heals so I guess you were close. IRL I hate wearing anything but flip flops. When my feet hurt I am crabby! T always hated tummy time too. That is why I was surprised she was an early crawler. Guess her desire to *move* was great. Oh and she started sleeping on her tummy around 4-5 months. Now she usually sleeps on her side or tummy with her tush in the air.

Lili, I think as long as she reaches all the milestone it doesn''t matter as such as which order. T sat on her own around 6 months and crawled at 6.5. She started pulling herself up at 8 months. Not sure if that helps you. My friend''s baby sat before he rolled over.

Janine
We used the huggies and pampers sensitive.
The huggies is thicker and smells really nice
9.gif

But we like the pampers sensitive more because it is really soft and thin.
Makes wiping those folds easier.

Tacori
Yup, nothing cuter than a petite little girl.

Haha, that''s what we petite girls need to do on our wedding days.
I was in 4" heals I think....and even that, I still look short next to DH.

Hehe...I remember those tushie in the air pix....too cute.
J hated tummy time initially too. You should see her face and she''d be crying with her face smooshed on the floor.

lili, I think once she could hold up her head really well and roll she started to like it. That''s probably pretty common.
