hehehe, I always said J made up for the lack of sleep by being very advance in her motor skills!
It's not uncommon for that to happen...my friend's boy (the one who was 17 lbs at 4 months) crawled before he could sit up properly without any help and without toppling forward. He sat up at about 8.5 months and crawled at 7.

I just have what to expect the first year, but yeah...I just like the updates on babycenter.

Ack, that's a bad combination.
Her lack of sleep = my lack of sleep.
I don't need her to add mobility to make it worse.
I keep thinking to myself that perhaps once she gets more mobile, she'll tire herself out and go to sleep.
Somehow I don't think that is not happening
14.gif

Tacori, It is so fun when their little personalities show through. Cute pic! My T has that same dress. It''s so cute. Did you make it to ON yet and use that bag? I went and got T a bunch of stuff for fall/winter since no one gets 12-18 mo stuff as gifts I hardly have anything and figured with 20% off it was a good time to start. They had a lot of cute stuff. I stocked up.
3.gif

Tgal~$20 for a big box of clothes? What a deal!

lili,That diet is so horrible. I felt like I was starving myself. But the turkey, potatoes and pears are foods that are virtually impossible ot have allergies to so it makes sense. We''re going to CIO again, but not until we get through all the newness of daycare and me being back at work.

mrss, Sounds like Jake is doing fabulous! Good luck with the move!

janine,we did pampers sensitive for NB and then pampers swaddlers for 1''s. Starting around 4 months when we started cereal we started bathing her every night but we only use the soap stuff every other night.

Funny that you guys were talking about milestones in different order because T is all over the place! She could sit before 6 months and now she can go from tummy to sitting by herself and she can crawl a little...like hand, leg, hand, leg plop because she starts to almost bear crawl. She pushed herself up on both feet and was doing like a V with her body....like she was going to stand up. She pulls herself up onto shorter objects so I think her real desire is to be standing, but what about some crawling first? Silly girl.

Burk, I still need to go! I redid her closet today....crazy. Took me 2 hours. She has so much 12-18 months stuff (mostly from my mom) it is insane and I have a big tub of stuff I am going to donate. The rest will be packed away for DD 2 (or for my sister or someone if we don''t have another girl). She has quite a bit of 2T summer stuff too so I will stock up of 2T fall and up (which seems crazy but I refuse to buy anything smaller unless it is too hard to resist). I can''t remember when she could sit from her belly. These past milestones happened SO fast it was hard to keep track.

I have my nursing stool still out (not sure why) and she climbed up on it while holding onto the glider. She can also pull herself up by leaning on the wall and is getting much better about getting back down (learned to bend her knees). It is scary b/c she is fearless but cute. Maybe b/c she is so short. Someone that short should not be standing yet.
3.gif

Tacori--i remember those Tessa ''first solids'' pics, so funny and very messy. It would be great to wait until after the trip. I saw a kid on one of those baby shows who was still exclusively BF at 9 months so obviously it is possible and probably just as healthy (this kid was actally huge--no starvation happening!). He''s just so interested now i can just imagine what he''ll be like in 2 months.

Lili--i think J is destined to be the best sleeper in the bunch at some point--maybe not till her teenage years, but at some point
2.gif
hehe, in the mean time she has some super motor skills.

Cohen did alright with his first day of 4-hour EASY. He can go the full 4 hours b/w meals no problem, but only napped for two 1 hour napt and a 30 min catnap (instead of two 2-hour naps and one catnap). He didn''t seem any crankier, so we;ll see how the night goes.

Today was the day we were supposed to find out how many babies my cousin (whom had IVF--3 embryos implanted) is carrying. We just got the call from my aunt that none of the 3 have heartbeats any longer--we are all very very upset for them
8.gif

Jas12, sorry to hear about your cousin! How difficult for them. Hopefully they will have better luck if there is a next time.

I read babies are actually fine and it is healthy to go 12 months with just formula/BF. I think solids is more about learning how to eat than nutrition. Traveling is just so difficult. You could just do some mushy table foods. I try to give T anything I can. I have been thickening stage 1 and 2 foods (with RC) since the start so she is used to thicker/clumpy things. I cut up fruit, avocado, give her bread even a piece of waffle the other day. I just try to get her used to different textures. She loves puffs.

Jas12
So sorry to hear abou tyour cousin.
My heart goes out to them.

Geez, I thought you were going to say toddler years. Teenage years...who cares if she''s a good sleeper then
41.gif

That''s great about Co switching over to the 4-hr EASY routine.
So does that mean he''ll be waking up less at night too?
Yay, more sleep for you.

TGal--

How did you get a box full of clothes for $20?
Would love to see Amelia some of them :)

More tomorrow...got back from a night at a friend''s for dinner and I should hit the sack...

Just wanted to say Jas, I am sorry about your cousin.

lili, your comment about who cares about the teenage years made me laugh out loud.

And the box of clothes was used...found it on craigslist. Most of it is pretty worn, but it''s all clean and for 60-65 pieces of stuff for $20 bucks, who cares? I''ll have her wear the stuff around the house and buy a few nice things for each stage for her to wear out. She only spits up on everything anyway.
20.gif

TGal, the spitting will slow down. T lived in bibs and finally at 7 months I got fed up and stopped putting them on her (well except for eating of course!) Yes, sometimes she has drool spots but at least you can see her cute clothes now.

T has had trouble sleeping too. At first I thought it was just from traveling but last night she kept waking up screaming too. Maybe she is teething. Poor little lady.

Lili--the 4hour routine is supposed to encourage better sleeping (i have to give it a few days to see i guess). I had to put Co down early last night b/c of his 2 short naps and i didn''t go to bed till 12 (darn olympics suck me in every night) so i decided to dream-feed him at that time. I''ve never had success with it before but gave it a go and he cooperated!
36.gif
--he then slept till 5 am, ate a bit and slept till 8. The hope is that i''ll just wean him off that early morning feed. have u tried it? i know u are a night hawk.

Tacori--i think i also read somewhere that a milk-only diet is good till 1 year but like you said it''s a lot about skill development and their growing interest. I just ordered 2 baby food books, i am actually looking forward to making it. I wish Cohen were on solids closer to the summer time, once the deep freeze hits here there is no such thing as a fresh veggie/fruit. I need to take advantage of the local produce and freeze stuff now. Great that Tessa luvs avacado. It is such a ''power food'' great healthy fats and so many vitamins.

Re: my cousin, i don''t know if she will try again anytime soon. I don''t want to ask. Something tells me i am probably one of the last ppl she would want to hear from right now. i am not sure what to say to her??
15.gif

I think i am going to get an exersaucer this weekend. Anyone have a recommendation?

Tacori~Too funny that you just organized T''s closet....so did I!! I actually found some 18 mo stuff that I didn''t even remember she had. Her closet is jam-packed. I keep a large plastic storage container in her closet so I can just put things she grows out of in there. My SIL is preggo and finds out next week if she''s having a boy or girl so if it''s a girl the clothes will go to them. Sorry T had a rough night. I hate teething!!

Jas12~So sorry to hear about your cousin. One of my assistant coaches went through IVF three times with no luck....meanwhile I was preggo and another of my assistants has been preggo twice! I have no clue what to say every time they are disappointed again. Now they don''t even know if they''ll try again because they''ve spent all of their savings. I feel so bad for them it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. Sounds like Co is adjusting to the new schedule. That''s great.

I''m at work so I better get something done!!!

So i was all set to order packs of Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive in Newborn and there are no where to be found! None at BRU and discontinued at Diapers.com. Boo..

janine - try drugstore.com or target or walmart.

Tacori, maybe the photographer had good angles, or maybe you just had amazing presence.

2.gif

And re: drooling...yeah, that''s why I don''t care to buy pricey clothes for her now. We don''t have a washing machine so I just need a lot of stuff she can trash up and that I don''t care if it stains or not. Hence the used box of clothes for $20.

Jas, it''s great that Co seems to be transitioning well! Hopefully it will be painless.

36.gif
Oh, and let us know which exersaucer you choose. I''m getting a jumperoo because my friend has insisted I take her rainforest one. I''m going to do a bit more research to see if all that jumping is bad for their little bones, but we''ll see.

Janine, I remember seeing them at Target.

Well, like that song in Sound of Music goes, "I must have done something good." I was feeling kind of bad yesterday about buying all these crappy used clothes for Amelia. Today, my mom calls me to tell me my aunt has some clothes for Amelia - apparently my cousin in law owned a children''s clothing boutique that they are transitioning over to an adult clothing boutique. So my aunt went in there and asked her daughter in law for clothes for Amelia. It''s an upscale clothing boutique and the children''s clothing are quite pricey (Koreans love that kind of crap). Most of it is 18 mo - 2 years, and it is all so cute and stylish!! All European brands (which I have never heard of, but I went and looked up some of the brands like "3 Pommes") and the average piece costs about $40 (price tags are still attached). So I have $800 worth of clothes here ready for Amelia when she''s old enough not to barf all over herself.

36.gif
36.gif

Very excited. Don''t feel nearly as bad about dressing her like a bum now. She''ll look cute later!
9.gif

Tgal--i am blaming this on you (
2.gif
) but guess what is keeping Cohen from falling asleep right now?! Yep, rolling over onto his side or belly and getting stuck like that!! Of course he must have read about Amelia while sitting on my lap and doing a little PSing and thought "heck, i can do that too" lol--it just happened out of the blue today.
That''s fantastic about the baby clothing! I change Co aobut 3x a day b/c i hate bibs and he is so drooly so i totally hear you on wearing second hand stuff at home and nice stuff for outings.
As luck would have it, i got a gift today too:
--i heard someone open the door downstairs a few mins ago and went down to see who came in and the stealth relative was gone but a fisherprice horse jumperoo was sitting in my kitchen! Score. I think it is for when he gets a bit bigger but we''ll try it out now. It must have been my MIL b/c she was over today and we were discussing how he was outgrowing his bouncy seats.
36.gif

Let me know what you find out these jumpy things if you do come across some research.

Ha, of COURSE you are blaming me. It''s totally Amelia''s fault...she sends mimes over to Co ya know...
2.gif

How cool that we are both getting free jumperoos...within a day of each other! I will let you know what I turn up.

I hate bibs too...I don''t know why. I just let Amelia drool/barf over what she is wearing. Bibs seem so cumbersome to me, but I think I will use them anyway when she starts teething and the waterworks really start. For now though, cloth diapers (the non-prefold kind) have been a lifesaver. I use them all the time as burp clothes.

And just in case Co is reading again, I''ll have you know that Amelia is throwing some serious tantrums today. Hope that doesn''t jinx you! T-30 for bedtime and today, I CAN''T WAIT.

Tacori
Poor Tessa. Is this going to be her first tooth?
Hehe, my mommy brain cannot keep up with all the milestones that all these precious little ones are going through.

Burk
9.gif
Is Tayva doing the army crawl?
Those are sooo cute!
Anyway, good luck with the CIO.
I''m wondering if I should wait until she''s one before doing the CIO.
It seems like during the first year of their lives, there''s so many things that will derail them from their schedules -- daycare, teething, sitting, rolling, growth spurts.

Jas12 and Tgal
Not only were you guys preggo twins, now you are preggo mommies.
Yay for the rolling over
36.gif
36.gif

Score for the free jumperoos.
The recommended age for the jumperoo is 4mnths up.....
so Co and Amelia should big enough to go in no?

I am there with you guys on the bibs too.
I just let J drool all over herself.
The bib doesn''t really catch the drool anyway, since the drool will drip down her neck.

Jas12
Dream-feed? Is that feeding them while they are still somewhat asleep?
I tried weaning J off the early morning feeding with no luck.
She''ll go back to sleep if I lulled her, but she''ll be up again in half an hour.

TGal
That''s great about the nice clothes.
Awwww....no smaller size clothes so that we can see Amelia models in them?

Wow, I just drove through really quick, and all of your babies have grown so much! I kept seeing babies sitting, up, giggling, doing bigger baby things, and I thought, "Hey, you guys are supposed to be newborns!" Time flies!

They are all beautiful and I''m so glad you''re all having so much fun with them. Cherish every moment!!
9.gif

It''s so funny to see personalities coming into their faces more and more; I can only imagine watching their uniqueness develop more and more each day. What fun!!

Thank you for the kind comments on my photos! They would have been soooo much cuter if baby girl had stayed awake a little longer.
1.gif
She does love to sleep, for which I am profoundly grateful.

Quick question - at the moment, she sleeps in a carrycot, which I tote around the house with me. She''s starting to outgrow it now and I want to move her into her crib, in our bedroom for now. She falls asleep for the night at around 9pm. Question is, should I get a baby monitor so I can hear every little snuffle, sigh and movement wherever i am in the house?

Does anyone use these monitors and do they make you feel better or drive you crazy?
Thanks

Jen

I set up the jumperoo on the smallest setting. It is a tad too big for him, but i think he likes it

Aha! That''s what a jumperoo is. Ok, I have got to get one of these. He looks to be loving it. He''s such a cutie!

Oh, and I forgot to say - Tacori, that pic of T playing the piano is fantastic. She looks like she really knows what she''s doing. Early signs of musical genius? I''d love Amelia to play an instrument when she''s older. I''ll have DH soundproof the garage for that purpose.
9.gif
I still have nightmares about the time I lived in an appartment next to the family who thought it would be neat to buy their boys a trumpet each.

Cute baby picture ladies!

DH and I met with the ped recommended by my OB today. We really like her! How often are your ped appointments? (I think this was discussed earlier but I can't find it!) My ped said she'll see our baby a few days after discharge (a day after if there are issues), at 2 weeks (if there are issues), at 6 weeks, then every 2 months, and every 3 months after 9 months. Just wondering if this is normal.

I received the Target nursing tanks today. It says hand wash and line dry. I hate hand washing and it's too time consuming. Do any of you machine wash them? Does that cause them to shrink?

J is almost 6 months old and still too small for her jumperoo--we improvised and put our Wii Fit balance board underneath her and now she never wants to get out of it and jumps like a mad woman

jbouncebounce.jpg

Tgal, WOW! That''s awesome you got all of that great clothing! I look forward to pics of Amelia modeling them!
2.gif

Jas~Your family sounds like mine..if I even mention needing something we have it within days! We''re lucky. Co looks like he''s having a blast in the jumperoo. T LOVES hers.

lili~Tayva does the army crawl onlly when she''s inches from something. She mostly does the regular crawl. For some reason she''s just not taking off. She''ll crawl a little. Plop down. Crawl some more. Plop down. I think she''s more interested in standing!
23.gif
As for the CIO, we will probably wait until at least nine mos. That way we''lll be in a good routine with me back at work and hopefully her tummy issues will be resolved. There really is so much going on in their little lives that there probably is never a good time....

Mrs M~Is you house multi-level? If you''re on the same floor you will proably hear her when she wakes from a nap and you''re off doing whatever. We have a 2 story house so we have a monitor on the first floor and one in our room. All of the bedrooms are on the second floor. Do you plan to move her into her own room ever? We use our monitor in our room and T''s just right across the hall. She doesn''t really cry to wake, though, so we''d probably never hear that she''s awake without it. HTH.

snlee~Sounds pretty similar to the schedule we too T in to the pedi. Good thing you like yours because you see them a lot!
2.gif
As for the tanks, I machine washed mine and had no issues. Who has time to hand wash with a newborn??

misspinky~Cute pic! Good thinking using the balance board so she can jump away!
9.gif

Tayva news~The little stinker was pulling herself up in her crib when I got in there to get her from a nap today. I guess that means it''s time to move the mattress down. Now that she can get to sitting from her tummy, she''s dangerous....always wants to pull up on stuff. We have a basket of books that she crawls over to and pulls up on and tries to get in. She got so mad today when DH hid the basket.

Jas12
"Giddy Up"....all that''s missing are his cowboy hats and spurs
9.gif

He''s such a handsome little guy.
He looks very happy with his horsey.

snlee
Those nursing tanks will be okay in the washer and dryer.
They will shrink a bit with the initial wash, but it is not significant to get a bigger size.
As for the pedi schedule.....that sounds about right.
J had her first appt with the pedi a few days after we were discharged from the hospital.
Then it was for 2 mnths, 4 mnths, 6 mnths. Don''t know what comes after that though.
That''s great that you love your pedi.

misspinky
J is a petite cutie

Burk
Sounds like you are going to have a handful with Miss Tayva
2.gif

Evening ladies...

MrsM, I like having the monitor. It does not drive me crazy because (if you haven''t already), you will learn to distinguish between leave her be cries and get your booty into the room cries. Tonight Amelia made a noise and everyone was like, should I go up? I said, no, she is fine. A bit later she made another noise, slightly different, and I knew right away she rolled over and sure enough, she had. I would not feel comfortable (even in our small apartment) without a monitor. Keep in mind though that I am completely deaf in my left ear (and I sleep on my right) so I really need it in the bedroom when I sleep at night.

Jas and misspinky, cute jumperoo pics! They look like they are really loving it!

snlee, handwash? Are they on drugs? I didn''t even check the tags...I wash and it did shrink a bit but no big deal. They really think a new mom is going to handwash anything?
38.gif

That sounds pretty standard for pedis. Mine is awesome and seems to go the extra mile. He wants to see them at 2 weeks, 1, 2, 3, 4 months, then 6 month then 9 month. I loved going often early on as I always had questions every month. Now I am fine waiting until her 6 month appointment because things seems pretty well under control.

Burk, aww...you have to lower the crib? Do you feel sad or happy about that? Part of me thinks...cool milestone. Another part thinks...waaah...they are growing so fast!!!

My inlaws leave tomorrow. I really enjoyed their time here...especially their time with Amelia. So special to have grandparents!

Misspinky, she''s adorable in that contraption! I have got to get one for Amelia, it looks like a lot of fun.

Burk, we''re all on one level, but it''s a really old house and it straggles a bit. DH takes her into the nursery and plays with her while I''m studying and I don''t hear her with the doors closed. I think I probably do need an alarm. Tgal, that makes sense - respond to the ''i need you now'' noises only. I think it might make me crazy for the first hour our two, but then I''ll relax and pay less attention to the little random snuffles and noises.

I do plan to move her to her own room after 6 months. SHe sleeps pretty well and we both like having her close to us at night for quick feeds / changes. It will be a wrench to put her in her own room. Someone get on my case and remind me I need to do this in about 3 months time please!

Jen
