Curly, hope your mom is doing better. Holy smokes, I can''t believe you are only 4-5 weeks away from L&D. Wow wow wow...time flies!

And re: honest feelings...I remember reading one of your posts way back when before I was pregnant...I think you said it wasn''t all roses in the beginning? I thought, wow, that is so great to read. I think it''s very beneficial when we moms share stuff like that because even though I felt so "dark" in those early weeks, I felt fully confident it was normal and that things would turn around. Not to say that it ALWAYS does, because some women do have PPD and need help. But for me, it was really good to know.

Doesn''t surprise me that Lily is such a rock star. You are going to have to start spelling things around her because she will understand everything!!!

Jas, glad to hear that there is no structural damage to your pelvis, but it all still sounds painful!

Bobo, I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. But only $600 a month for a sitter? Wow, that is CHEAP and I would take that option (I am looking at more than that for only two days a week...it will be about $600 a month for 8 days of sitting.) Yes, I know how asians are, but you know what? At the end of the day, who gives a flying f*ck? It''s YOUR kid and your sanity and if you have the support of your DH, go for it! Love the new avatar btw...although I still have to admit that DJ ''lil B is still my fave.

MsF, just read that you aren''t loving your job. That is a bummer...what''s going on?

OK, on to page 51...

lili, Amelia hates her carseat now too. She''s OK when she''s in the car and moving, but forget about the snap and go. I think the bigger carseats will help a lot and I am leaning toward the Marathon because the Boulevard just looked uncomfortable to me. We have side airbags so I think the marathon will be OK, but I am definitely going to the store and putting Amelia in them to try them out. I will let you know how it goes.

We moved Amelia to the Maclaren and she is SO much happier. More roomy and cool and she just sits there and amuses herself while we eat. It''s most excellent and I would recommend one if you don''t have it (we have a Quest.)

re: tummy sleeping...I''d feel comfortable doing it now if she wanted to sleep that (she doesn''t). So if J is happier that way, I would think it would be OK, but can you call up your ped? I heard it''s fine once they start rolling over both ways but Amelia only rolls over one way.

Diver, I was in Wisconsin for work, and yes, alone. It was a nice break, I will admit! I missed Tacori in Wisconsin by a week or so I think!

msb, awww your story about the kiss made me grin.

Ella, I haven''t gotten the barrettes yet. I''ll be interested in seeing if Burk likes them. I am going to order them this weekend though as I didn''t want them delivered while I was away. Seems like they are going to get a spike in business!!

MrsS, miss ya too gal! I forgot...where did you move to again? And thanks for posting a pic of your handsome boy...never get tired of seeing all the PS babies.

JackieJas...CONGRATS!!!!!!!!! Can''t wait until you are up for joining us on this thread with your boys!!

Jas...hahaha...love the slogans on the halloween onesies. He is a STYLIN baby...Calvin Klein onesie eh? hehehe. And love the nekkid pic...now that we know that info I can see why he looks so happy and FREE in that pic!

Tacori, that is a funny image of Tessa''s eating time...must be quite an adventure. Hee. And of couse she could be a model. Duh woman, haven''t I told you that you have a looker on your hands?

Bobo, little B''s hair is growing back nicely. My mom kind of mentioned that she would have shaved us bald when we were babies because hair grows in thicker. It was obviously a hint that maybe I should shave Amelia. If she was a boy, maybe. But no way I would do it...she would look SO weird and not anywhere as cute as little B. Plus you can''t stick barrettes on a baldy!

QT, my doc told me not to worry about tummy time until she was about 2 months old, so I didn''t stress about it and she likes it fine now. But I agree with lili, face forward seemed to work best. Mostly this ended up as a face plant for us, but oh well. And wow, Meena did well for her first month! You only have to worry if they don''t gain, so that is great! Amelia had big growing weeks as well..one week she gained nearly a pound in a week...freaked me out!

All caught up, yay! Love this thread and missed you all.

Amelia news....hm. She is *this* close to rolling over both ways. All I have to do is nudge her head down while she is on her tummy and she''ll flip.

My mom also took great care of her while she was away - she wrote a full report daily with what she ate, naptimes, poops, etc. LOL. Love my mom, I am so lucky to have her.

No signs of teeth or teething yet, minus that one weird day. My mom was totally fascinated with the fact that Amelia naps 4 hours each day. It doesn''t matter how she gets it, but the total combination almost always equals 4 hours. I told her we are blessed and not to mess with it!! (Right now, she has been happing for an hour and a half, which is rare for her later afternoon nap, but her midday nap was cut short so I am enjoying this time to catch up with y''all.)

My friend is going to have a pool party this weekend and if there is enough shade, I am going to get her in the water. Might use sunscreen too as she will be 5 months old and I will "chance" it and use it a month early. I took photos of her in her two bathing suits today...love it!

Oh, and she loves her jumperoo!

Ah...she is up...great timing, as I am all done here!

Lili, I am not sure what photo it was. I''ll have to ask.

TGal, thanks. I know you are a Tessa fan. Don''t want to freak you out but my dad was very upset I had been using sunscreen on T (after 6 months) He said it is a really hot topic since it is absorbed. Just a thought...

Hehe, that's what we said too.
If it's a boy, sure, I'll shave them bald.
Anyway, it's all old wife's tale about the hair coming in thicker if you shave them.
Both my nieces had very little hair (thin and fine) up till they were about 1.5 year.
Now their hair are so thick and long.

Hmm...if you keep just one strand of her hair on her head, you can get those giddygiddy clip to stay on that one strand
9.gif

I saw a clip (can't find it now) where they demonstrate the staying power of those baby clips.
That clip hang onto that single strand of hair no matter how much the guy was jiggling it.

So did you order your clips?

Oh, welcome home

Eeee....I gotta see this.

lili, ha...funny about keeping one hair.

Tacori, good to know. I will research it further tonight. I do want to put her in though...they have SUCH a nice pool...saltwater, no chlorine. Feels so CLEAN.

TGal, I am sure you will make an informed decision. I asked him to ask his co-workers (he is in pediatric anesthesiologist) but not sure if he did. He himself is against the use of sunscreen and he is not an alarmist. Clothes and shade he said are the best protection. We have a floaty thing that has a shade cover thing.

My pediatrician said sunscreen was a no-no before 6 months and then said to use a physical sunscreen as opposed to a chemical one (so something with titanium dioxide as opposed to avobenzone) because they sit on top of the skin as opposed to being absorbed into the skin. It usually makes jay look like she''s got white chalk all over her, but oh well

Tacori - I also have the boppy tummy time. My co-worker got it for us, but I haven''t use it yet.

MrsMitchell - I''ll try the finger puppets when she has better vision.

lili - Yeah M''s Red Egg Party is tomorrow. We are just having a BBQ at the house. We got a cake shape like a bath tub with bubbles and rubber ducky on top (our friend who works at SusieCakes is giving us her employee discount). We are pretty excited to see how the cake turns out. =)

I tried tummy time on my belly too. It''s about the same where she will lift her head a few more times than on the bed, but still ends up falling asleep. Maybe it''ll get better when she gets older.

Tgal - Really a pound a week... I guess they have growth spurt.

misspinky - I know what you mean about the chalky look. I use sunscreen with titanium oxide on myself and I get the chalky look too.

DH gave M a bottle of expressed breast milk today. She took it right away, but I didn''t give her enough because she still wanted my breasts afterward. I am going to try to build up a stash before I go back to work.

Thanks on the sunscreen advice. I decided for now to not use it. However, I am still hoping for some shade to put her in the pool. I would so love to use my friend''s natural saltwater pool than to stick her in a chlorine filled community one.

QT, yeah...huge spurt. Not every week, but in the beginning she packed on some serious weight. She''s heavy now.

Have fun at the red egg party! And I meant to say that Amelia had the same hairdo as Meena when she was first born...I thought it looked funny too, but seems to grow in fine.

Sorry to threadjack for a moment but TGal, have you thought about posting in the Preggo thread where Lover In Athens might see it-she''s a dermatologist and might be able to recommend a brand that''s safe.

hello ladies!!

so i decided to try out giving little K some eggs again (first time i tired it out he got an allergic and i was SO not looking forward to trying it again..BUT since i need to give him the MMR vaccine (which contains some traces of egg in it), i had to test again...the doc said that i need to test out with egg whites since those cause the most allergic reaction..so i gave him a teeeenyy weeeeny bit of egg friday morning and no reaction...tried again saturday afternoon (with a larger quantity) and still nothing..wohooooooooo!!! i am sooooooooooooooooo relieved!!

thanks for the advice re:Cheerios...i bought a box over the weekend and will try to give him some over the next few days...

and hers a pic from our visit to the water park yesterday..he had an absolute blast!! (and he was mesmerized with the life jacket and refused to take it off! hahaha)

IMG_6024.JPG

he didnt even care about all the water sprouting all over the place

IMG_6049.JPG

and finally, this is from the previous weekend (we went to the park 2 weekends in a row! ha ha)...he was having a blast going down the slide (thats dad holding him)

MSB--those curls are crazy beautiful.

Tgal--i got an all-natural, ''safe for baby'' sunscreen from an naturopath. It is not as protective as the regular kind, but u may want to look into that. DOn''t quote me on this, but i think a diaper rash cream like desitin will also work if u want to turn your kid white (isn''t zinc a UV blocker?) maybe someone who knows for sure can chime in. Personally i just cover Cohen up with a long-sleeved onsie before we go in my mom''s pool and put a hat on him.

Q--i do tummy time for 10 or 15 min a morning. I just plop Co down on a blanket and he does his own thing (mostly complains) He is just now starting to like it. Cute that M just falls asleeep. She''ll probably take to tummy time easily when she gets more alert. I think some babies are ''tummy babies''.

I have company this weekend--will catch up more later....

Q, you know that round toy it came with (or at least ours ) when you shake it makes a noise. That was one of her FAVORITE toys. Like I said she used it on her back more than tummy. I was so tired then I didn''t have the energy to fight her. She was an early crawler so just goes to show you babies do things when THEY are ready.

Start building your milk stash NOW. Takes awhile. I started months before we left for Mexico.

TGal, hope you find some shade so you can take her swimming.

Msb, little K is so cute! Looks like he was having a blast. Yay for the eggs!

So we went over to some friends to watch football yesterday and T played with a 13 month old girl. It was so cute how well they got along. T just followed her around.

I don''t have time to catch up. My husband talked me into having a BBQ at our house tonight so I have a ton to do. But, I wanted to pop in and post a couple pics of the new barrettes Miss T got for the girlly mommies who were interested. They are SOOOOO cute and they do work wondered on baby fine hair. I bought three and I''m glad I did.

Hope everyone is having a good long weekend! :)

BURK!!!! so cuuuute!!!! love ''em :) i love the top!! i got a similar one (but a top) for a friend of mine....

Tgal, welcome home! I didn''t want to shaved little B''s hair from the beginning but DH insist because he think little B''s hair looked like a bad hair transplant. I think the hair is growing back nicely too but both grandma want us to shave him again since he still got no hair in the back. I told them "over my dead body". I agree with ya, if little b was a girl there is no way I''ll let DH shaved her.

msb, his curls and his eyes are beautiful~

Burk, T is so cute~ I tried talking DH into letting me put a barrettes in little B''s hair, I told him I''ll buy a masculine one like a pumpkin but of course DH just pretend he didn''t hear anything...

40.gif

tried to edit my post but couldn''t...just realized i sounded like a broken record...wat i meant to say burk was that i got my friend a shirt typa thing that had the same flower pattern as T''s outfit =D...

Burk, Tayva really is remarkably beautiful! She just gets sweeter in every pic.
msb, I love those pics, he is such a handsome little man and he looks like he''s having a blast!

Like TGal and Tacori said, don''t worry too much about M not liking tummy time.
We were forced to give J tummy time pretty early on just to try to tire her out so she''d go down for naps in the day time.

That cake sounds fun, and it''s always good to get a discount
5.gif

Hope the celebration went smoothly.
Can''t wait to see pix of M.

That''s great that M is taking the bottle.
I wished we had started J on the bottle early on.
Between her not napping and spitting up, I just didn''t have the energy to pump and try the bottle
41.gif

So now she''s not taking the bottle
7.gif

MSB
OMG...look at those curls!
They are to die for
30.gif
30.gif

Ok, J is so envious of K''s curls and big eyes!

Looks like he was having a ball at the water park.

Burk
Hehe, thanks for posting the clips.
It look so cute on Tayva.
And I have to say, love Tayva in her capri pants.
So stylish.
5.gif

Burk, she is so cute!

Burk, I''ve been browsing through this thread and I have to say that the picture of your little girl and the dog is one of the cutest pictures I''ve ever seen (and BF agrees).

Evening gals!

Gemma, just saw your post tonight, thanks! We didn't end up needing the sunscreen. More on that in a minute.

msb, love your prince...he just looks so full of life and I DIG his curls!!!

Jas, thanks also for the sunscreen advice. Long sleeved onesie, why didn't I think of that? I guess I wanted to put her cute little bathin suit on.

Tacori, babies just love other babies/kids, don't they? It's so cute to watch.

Burk, OMG, could Tayva be any prettier? I LOVE her outfit as well...she is so pulled together! Glad you like the clips...which website did you buy them from? I'll put in an order tomorrow. I still don't understand how they work so well on babyfine hair.

Bobo, little B is so cute that he could pull off multiple shavings.
2.gif
And you totally cracked me up...a masculine barrette like a pumpkin? Hahahaha....that's so funny that you picked pumpkin instead of something like a truck.

re: Tummy time...I thought Amelia would never do it, she hated it so much. She's actually digging it now and for the first time today she rolled over tummy to back all on her own. So she's rolling over both ways, yay!

And I got to take her into the pool. Well, jacuzzi, but it was only lukewarm and perfect for her. It got very overcast here today and I took her in after 5pm, so I chanced a little pool time without sunscreen. She really seemed to like it. At least she didn't cry and seemed relax and interested in everything else that was going on around her. I'll post pics when I can. I got a new laptop and have to load some software on this one in order to make cropping and file sizing easier.

Amelia's 5 months tomorrow...man, time is starting to FLY.

ETA, according to PS time, she is 5 months "today!"
