Ok, wow I have two hands free for a moment! Hey all!

Question --

What songs do you like to sing to your kids...for some reason (*ahem* sleep deprivation) I can only remember Twinkle Twinkle and Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, which really isn''t the sort of song I want to raise little boys on.

All is well...following the thread, just don''t have much to contribute other than that Logan has gas and the only thing that soothes him is tummy time...which is fine until it''s sleepy time. Ugh.

Logan had his first bath today (I''m a bad mommy and haven''t bathed them in 3 weeks).
Take care, all. I''m here, just quiet/no-handed (babies in both arms) most of the time.
Jas an old singing mummy here (son 20 DD 17) but still a mummy.
I sang constantly to my kids some would say too much (DH) and had a song for every occasion.
The repertoire included Hush little baby
All the pretty little horses
too ral loo ra loo ra
Twinkle twinkle
Little red wagon
In fact those 5 were on repeat EVERY bed time and who betide if I forgot one. We did this till our kids were about 3 or 4
Plus my husband just made up silly songs. My fave with my was one with my son''s name in them . We still sing it when he comes home from college for the weekend

hi all. i usually lurk around here but i decided that i would finally post. everyone has such beautiful/handsome babies around here.
congrats to all the mommies around here.
i have a 9 month old boy who is the greatest joy i know. he is a very happy baby most of the time, but once you try to take him away from his mommy, he gets upset and he makes sure you know it!! i am a SAHM and LOVE every minute of it. i love watching my little guy grow and learn new things and do new things.
well, that''s me in a nutshell. looking forward to watching all the babies grow.

Thanks ladies for all your support! I am really dying here, with no sleep and a non stop crying baby attached at the hip. He is on Tylenol & Motrin every three hours around the clock. I''m just worrying so much medication and fever will cause harm to his organs and brain.

Giagantic *HUG* to you Bobo-i hope the fever breaks asap. So scary. I know how you feel about medication. I felt bad giving Cohen motrin last night but i feel worse if he''s in pain and don''t do anything about it. Obviously you have one sick baby so you gotta do it. Can someone take him for a few hours tomorrow so you can get some rest?

Jas--yay for the first bath! Do the boyz like it? How are you coping? And as for songs, i sing all the time and like Tgal, i just rhyme random stuff. I think they just like to hear your voice. I could list dozens of songs (from years of teaching and daycare working) but i don''t know how many are canadian so u might be thinking ''huh"??
Oh and picking a tune of a popular radio song but changing the words also work well

Lili--yep, Co regresses every few days. just when i think i have him figured he''s up to something equally exhausting. He was fussy again today and cried when he was with anyone but me. The boy is crabby, particular, active and overtired. A lethal combo for an equally overtired mommy.
Funny you should mention J liking boxes. I''ve just started giving Co some household items cuz he seems bored with his toys. He was intoxicated by a piece of paper towel this morning and water bottles are a favourite as well. I am not going to buy stuff anymore (grannies can do that) he only wants what is in my hand anyway.
I have started oatmeal and barley cereals but no fruit or veg yet (next week). What about you? Have u noticed J has gotten chubbier since starting solids? Cohen sure has, he looks fat! However he''s not nearly as mobile as J so that may be the problem...my chubba needs more exercise!
My pelvic pain is improving--i am doing my physio exercises at the gym each day.
How cool that you and Tgal live so close by...maybe u both need something at BRU saturday morning
2.gif

Tgal--speaking of songs, luv yours. Maybe a career in children''s CD''s??!
3.gif
. I actually had an aussie song in my head today "six white boomers" I think it is b/c i read Co "Possum Magic" this aft. That book then sparked a craving for lamingtons, which in turn has led to the zuchini brownies i am baking as i type
3.gif
(not quite a lamington, but i had a big zuch i needed to use up and it''s a tad healthier)

I looked for the 30 day shred DVD on ebay today--lots listed. Maybe i can convince Charlie to do it. I told him he was fat last night (only half jokingly) so he''s currently out playing squash.--oops. Anyone else noticed their DH got chubby while *you* were preggo? Tgal, i think u mentioned that Tguy did....

brownies calling....

Forgot to say--Welcome Puffy! Hope you enjoy our mommies group.
Love your avatar!

Some songs I tried to sing are:

Old MacDonald Has a Farm

This Old Man

Do Your Ears Hang Low (don''t know all the words though)

ABC

I''m a Little Teapot

Don''t feel bad about the bath thing.

We didn''t bathe J for the first few weeks too.

1.gif

Lili, I''m normally just a lurker, but the words you can''t remember are for the song I loved the most when I was a kid. So, in case you were wondering:

Do your ears hang low
Do they wobble to and fro
Can you tie them in a knot
Can you tie them in a bow
Can you throw them over your shoulder
Like a continental soldier
Do your ears hang low?

Welcome puffy!

Yeah Jackie, I bet your burp song is awesome. I bet you''re a fun (and great) momma!

Bobo, I feel for you, I really do! I wish I could make his fever go away...we need the fever fairy...

Jas, that CD sounds good, but for me, the culprit is food. However maybe I should join the herd and try it since so many seem to be having great luck. Stroller Strides class is finishing up soon for me, and to be honest, I''m pretty lazy in the class. I do push myself, but not as hard I would like and it''s tough working out with the baby when I spend my time making faces and being goofy...way more fun.

And I have TWO copies of Possum Magic. Those Aussies wanted to make sure that little Amelia had her fix of Aussie lore! I have tons of stories on wombats, picture books of kangaroos and koalas, etc etc. She currently own no AMERICAN books.
40.gif

I''m also with ya on the toys. No need...household stuff is great at this age.

RE: chubbo stages....I think we''re approaching the peak for baby blubber...they seem to be pork up and then slim down a bit when they start moving, with a huge difference at the 9 month stage. You should have seen Amelia''s passport photos today. She looks like the great pumpkin.

Anyhoo, you need a break girl...hand Co over to Charlie and let the boys figure it out and you sleep.
1.gif

QT, those are cute clips...I like the 3D aspect of some of the flower ones.

lili, did you order a carseat yet, or are you going to wait? And we were at BJ''s tonight (recently opened at Del Amo) and Amelia was quiet the entire dinner because she was fixated on TV. I''m not a nazi in the sense that I am going to cover her eyes when we''re out or anything, but we don''t show her the TV at all at home. Personal preference because I am not a TV person and figure there will be plenty of time later for that stuff, as I do believe there is some good programming for kids.

Burk, glad you and your man had a talk. And in my experience, post preggo hormones are way worse that preggo ones. Those were a piece of cake compared to what I''ve been through since I had Amelia. Thank goodness they make em cute, eh?
1.gif

thanks for the welcome ladies!!!
Bobo, gosh i am so sorry for what you and your little man are going through. Brady was running a fever for almost 5 days in a row a few months ago and i thought i was going to die. i hope he gets better real soon.
Brady was a BIG baby!!! at 6 months he was over 20 lbs, but he''s also tall. anyways, at the 9 month appt, he slimmed down to 19 lbs 9 oz. and it was definitely noticeable in his face and belly area.
Lili i just want to say that J has the best hair ever!!!
i look forward to posting regularly in this thread. thanks again ladies

Hi Jas :) Your boys are adorable! You are sooo lucky :) Do you know the song "The Sweetheart Tree" by Henry Mancini from that old movie The Great Race? I love that song. A few of the words:

They say there''s a tree in the forest.
A tree that will give you a sign.
Come along with me to the sweetheart tree
Come and carve your name next to mine
They say if you kiss the right sweetheart
The one you''ve been waiting for
Big blossoms of white will burst into sight
And your love will be true ever more.

Ok, that was all of the words
9.gif
Anyways, it''s my favorite lullaby, thought I''d share!

bobo: so sorry to hear ur going thru this rough time! hope little B is feeling better..big big hugs to u and ur little one..

Sorry ladies for being MIA, but little K skin rash/allergy subsided only for him to get a really high fever and a sore throat
7.gif
...he couldn't keep anything down for the past few days and was running a fever for 3 days straight..hes doing much better now, but dont even get me started on how little ive slept over the past few days..i think im functioning on a total of 4 hours sleep over the past few days...alas...this too shall pass!! enuf whining on my part..

jas: good to hear from u! i usually sing twinkle twinkle little star, itsy bitsy spider, eenie meenie minie moe (sp??) , ur my sunshine...and sometimes i make up songs like Tgal said :)

puffy: hi and welcome to this thread :) love ur avatar..

jas12: sorry u had another rough nite with Co..i agree (again!) with Tgal and say hand him over to Charlie and let them figure it out for a bit :)

im sure ive missed out some in my response, but im just gonna blame it on my droopy eyes and lack of sleep :)

ETA: Kay-hope ur hospital tour went well...for me i took change of pjs, toiletries, cell phone charger, glasses/contacts, flip flops, my own bedspread, watch, some makeup, toothepaste/toothbrush and towel...i honestly would nick the pads, the underwear (those mesh undies they give are great to hold the hospital pads in place!)..i honestly was NOT in the mood to watch tv/dvd, read a book/magazine or bounce on a ball...

Just want to say all you ladies''s support is really comforting for me right now. I have cried with little B for the past two days when he was getting his blood drawn, chest x-ray and nurse collecting his urine. When I looked into his eyes I can''t help it to just cry with him. All the exam was freaking him out, he can''t nap w/o me holding his hand or me sleeping next to him. He''ll wake up every 5 minutes with the look of terror in his eyes and start looking for me. I''m his mom and I''m suppose to protect him and yet I can''t. I feel so helpless...

Jas12, I had to come back to work today so MIL is looking after him. No rest for me...

Thanks Puffy, did you guys found out what was causing the fever? We are still trying to figure out what is causing the fever.

Thanks msb700. I hope ur little K feel better soon. big *HUGS* to you too!

Bobo, i hope he gets better!!! do the docs know what''s going on with him? hopefully, you''ll find out what''s causing this. my heart goes out to the two of you. i know it must be so hard to see him like that.

Msb, so sorry to hear about little K. glad to hear he''s doing better, and hopefully you can catch up with some sleep.

jas12, sorry to hear about Co''s sleep, or lack there of. just give him some time, he''ll figure it out. and i hear you on the toys. we have spent so much to make sure he has everything that he could possibly need/want and all he wants now a days are household items.

i know it''s too early for me to vent a bit. But... the little guy is going through really bad separation anxiety. i can barely step out of the room before he cries for me. at first, i admit, i thought it was the cutest thing ever that all he wanted was his mommy. well, not so much anymore. when i leave the room, he''ll look for me and when he can''t find me, then he''ll start to cry bloody murder. i''m pretty sure he understands object permanence. it''s just that he has to be with me ALL the time. i really don''t know what to do.

Hi mommies!
35.gif
I posted a question in the pregnant thread. If you have a chance, can you please chime in? Thanks!

hi mommies!

i'm still a few mos away from having my first baby, but lurk here often to check out the cute pics of all the little ones.

just delurking here to give my support to bobo and msb - both of you seem to be having such a rough week - i'm sorry the kids aren't feeling well! it must be so unnerving to not be able to make things better for them right away. *HUGS*

plz note however, that this is coming from the girl who started bawling hysterically @ midnight yesterday when i realized i hadn't felt jelly move all evening and was sure something was wrong. i poked and prodded my belly, had a cold glass of water and walked around until i felt some movement. it's odd - some days he's so active and others he is so calm.

the worrying is only going to get worse isn't it...*sigh*

TGal
That''s cute with your made up song.
I tried doing that...but always end up with "mommy doesn''t know what else to say" and then hums the rest of the way.

I was going to order the marathon, then I looked at the boulevard and liked the continuous seat belt adjustment.
Now I''m on the fence between the two.
Then hubby went on consumer report and saw that the roundabout scored higher in the rating...
so we are kinda back to square one.
Why did you choose the marathon or boulevard over the roundabout?
Is it because it will seat a bigger kid?

Welcome Puffy!
Brady looks like such a sweetheart.
Mind posting a bigger picture since it is hard to see that happy face in the avatar :)

It is never too early to vent.
That''s what we are all here for.

Ahh, that must be hard on you when Brady is so attached to you.
Can''t just hand him off to someone when you needed a break.
I wish I have some advice, perhaps that veteran mommies with multiple kids can help.

Ahh Bobo and msb
*hugs* to you both and your little ones.
i always hate seeing babies not feeling well.
hope their fever break soon.

jas12

I may try fruit and veggie next week too.
So far, we''ve tried rice and oatmeal cereal.
For some reason, she doesn''t like rice anymore, so that''s why I went to oatmeal.
Seems like she''s liking the oatmeal more...but who knows, maybe she eats it because it''s new for the moment.

Hehe, yep, she does look plumper, even though I only gave her 1 tbsp of solid a day.
She''s probably more chubby if she isn''t as active as she is now.

Is Co better last night?
Did you have to give him Motrin or Tylenol?
Is he teething?

msb, I''m thinking of you and your little one. I hope K feels better soon! Hang in there.

Bobo, how is B doing today?

Thanks princess for the words.
I love that song too, especially when my niece sing it.
She''s all into it with the hand and head motion :D

QT
Those clips are adorable.
Love the 3D effect.
Can''t wait to see it on Meena.

Thanks sbde, I remembered in the last few weeks of my pregnancy getting those kick count took much longer than before and when I don''t get 10 in a hour I will get very nervous too.

Thanks lili, I hope so too...

snlee, little B is still on the Tylenol & Motrin marathon today. We''re taking him back to the pedi tonight after work.

lili, what kind of car do you drive? Is it big enough to hold either the boulevard or the marathon? Then I would choose one of those seats. The reason why people prefer the larger convertible seats over the roundbout or the diplomat is that the price difference isn''t all that much and your baby is going to grow out of the roundabout a lot faster (probably in our case by height before they get to weight). Why not pay the extra $40 and get the marathon, which will last you quite a bit longer, is the idea.

This "sale" hasn''t been that impressive, so I don''t think you lose out if you wait...there may be other better clearance offers in the future. Or I think BRU has their 20% coupons that start today. Do you have any of those?

i attached a pic to this, but not sure if it''s going to post....
let''s give it a try

brady.jpg

yippy it worked....
that''s my 9 month old in his "big boy" pjs.

What a cutie pie, Puffy!!!!!

Puffy--what an adorable little guy you have in his ''big boy'' pjs!

Lili--i think babies like the oatmeal better cuz it''s a bit sweeter. I eat a few bites along with Co and i like the oatmeal much better too
3.gif
. Cohen is eating about 10-15 of those little spoonfuls of cereal (twice a day) i am sure he would actually eat more but i limit him. He goes nuts for it-to the point where he cries if he sees his blue bowl and i haven''t prepped the meal yet! I don''t want him to overeat (not sure if it''s possible?) so i just give him what i make and then nurse him.
I spent the whole evening tonight making more baby food (tonight was squash, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots). What a mess, but at least i got a few more veggies out of the way. Are u going to make or buy the food? What are u going to start with?
Cohen had a good night and day--no motrin. He still has the chin rash (a sign of teething) but he was happy today so his gums must not be bothering him too much.

Tgal--how is the solid feeding going with Amelia? Have u tried again?
I think you are spot on about this being the peak of baby chub. Makes total sense.
And re: diet and weight loss. Diet is by far more important to weight loss success so you are right to focus on that. I eat pretty healthfully, but i find nursing makes me famished.I snack allll day long! Do you still find you have a big appetite? Fatigue might play a big role in overeating as well so i try to ask myself "i am i hungry or just tired and looking for a boost?"

MrsS. How''s jake''s sleep going? Did you start fruit and veg yet?

speaking of food. Can''t believe i am approaching the 6-month mark for nursing. It seems like a week ago i was dealing with my insomnia and made 6 months my goal. i am sure the next 6 months will fly by now that i''ve recovered from that.

would u believe i just make *another* batch of zuch-bownies
15.gif
They are SO yummy! Off to eat one and watch an episode of The Office with Charlie

Hi guys, I finally got my new camera so here is a picture of our newest addition! I had to get a camera! It kind of sucks that she was born and we couldn''t even take pictures of her at the hospital. I had finally found my camera after looking for a few months and my darling 3 yo dropped it on the floor and it broke apart!

Anyway, her name is Kristina Marie, born on Sept. 4th at 2:37 am. She was actually due next week, Sept. 23rd, but I am kind of happy she came early, I could not deal with being pregnant anymore!

6 lbs. 2 oz., 18.5 iches long

Anyway, I just wanted to post since it''s been a while and to congratulate everyone else that has a new little one!
