mrsb K is so cute! glad to hear that eating is getting better. i can't get over his hair! what a handsome little man.

jas what cute babies..all 3 of them
9.gif

lili sorry to her that J isn't taking the bottle much. hopefully it will get better. keeping up with B is getting to be a pain! but it's cute that he waddles away from me. but he still walks to me every so often to sneak in a few kisses then walks away to play again.

qt i have the pump in style advanced and it comes with a manual pump attachment. i'm not sure if there is difference between the pump in style and the pump in style advanced.

tgal your girl is a doll! glad that you love your camera! it is so much quicker at snapping away! we usually only use our D80 when we go on trips or outings. i take the pics inside with our normal sony. how do you like the lens? you got the 18/200? haha, so funny that she loves water. B's not so fond of water. he will drink it, but not too much. but he LOVES his food! isn't it great watching them grow? and go through new stages?

ETA: Tacori, i am so sorry you and T are going through that! when B's top teeth were coming in, it was BAD, but the bottom teeth were a breeze! a persistent little girl you have, definitely not a quitter! you are not an idiot. my hubby walked at almost 18 months according to MIL. hopefully T will get through the teething soon. B's walking a lot! it's pretty tiring, but very cute. and to think i thought i was ready for another one! not so much anymore...i can barely keep up with him. imagine if i was preggo already! YIKES!!!

TGal, she is so cute! Great pics. I am so jealous!

BTW I need some help mommies...what do you feed your older babies? (Table food wise) I need some new ideas.

Ugh teething. Poor Tessa. I can''t imagine that must be fun for any poor little baby.

I can''t wait to see what designs you come up with for the clips Tacori!

Puffy, yes, that is why I love it. If I see an expression and click the shutter, 9 out of 10 times, I will manage to get it with the DSLR. Forget about it on the point and shoot. I''ll probably use the canon for macro (diamonds!) stuff but will reach for the D40 whenever possible. That''s interesting that you just use the Sony in house....I thought it would be easier to reach for the better camera because in the house you don''t have to lug it everywhere!

My issue is that I don''t like flash photos with the canon, hence why I moved to a DSLR. The photos I posted were in dim morning light and you can''t tell how dark it was in my apartment. The canon would not have been able to do that, especially while she was moving in that jumperoo.

My advice to all the new moms, invest in a good camera! I could kick myself that so many of her wee baby pics are so grainy. I didn''t want the flash hitting her in the eyes all the time so we just have icky bad pics.

B''s officially off baby food. we give him table food now. he finished the last of his baby food and i just didn''t want to bother with it anymore. and we had already been giving him table foods so we knew he loved it, but then again he loves almost every thing
9.gif

we give him pasta with cheese, chicken, rice, broccoli, tofu, all sorts of fruits, bread, waffles. i guess pretty much whatever we are having but a healthier version. and no sweets yet. he really loves his little broccoli mixed with cheese and rice, so that the cheese melts and kinda binds everything together. i know i give him so much more, i just can''t think right now...

TGal, how thoughtful of you! My child is probably BLINDED from the flash. I never thought to turn it off. Oh well. She is usually such a happy baby so I know she must be in pain. She is not one to cry nonstop for no reason. But all is well. We gave her tylenol and she is watching her favorite show, "Yo Gabba Gabba". It is baby crack. Whatever works.

Puffy, T loves baby food but plays more with table food. I am worried she won''t get enough to eat if we cut it out all together. I feed her those baby egos in the morning. She loves those. I am just worried once I cut out formula too...she still won''t take a sippy.

Hehe. Too funny. I don''t mind the flash now but I didn''t want to use it when she was an infant in case it woke her up or something! God forbid we lose precious sleep!!!

I actually prefer natural light for shots because point and shoot flashes are so harsh. I bought a speedlight for this camera to bounce off the ceiling so that might make it better too.

Yo Gabba Gabba eh? Sounds fun.
1.gif

tacori, i don't think my oldest drank from a sippy until after her first b-day. I don't think I even tried to wean her from bottles until then. I wouldn't worry too much about it. she'll get there. as for food, I always just gave them versions of what we were eating. She'll get enough and eat when she's hungry. There are days now where my 6 year old seems to hardly eat a thing. spaghetti, mac and cheese, mashed potatos, tiny pieces of meat, etc...

Tgal-love the pics of Amelia..it's way to freaky how much she looks like my niece. they look more related than my niece and jake do.

TGal, the first time I saw the show I wonder what drugs the creator was on. But I realized that *she* loves it (actually all the babies I know do) and it does have catchy songs with good meanings like "you must wait your turn", "don''t stop! don''t give up!" "It''s fun to win but it''s okay to lose", or my favorite "don''t bite your friends"
41.gif
Plus they have a song that is now famous with my entire family entitled "There is a party in my tummy." My dad even showed a clip at a recent medical conference.
4.gif
Some lyrics are "There is a party in my tummy. So yummy! So yummy! Do carrots wanna go to the party? *a small cheer from the carrots* Do green beans wanna go to the part? *a small cheer from the green beans* Okay! Let''s go!" The you see the carrots & green beans swimming in the juice in a cartoon tummy...priceless. That and "Blue''s Clues" make for a happy girl.

TGal
Wow, those pictures came out really nice.
I guess that's why practically all the new parents I know invest in those DSLR cameras.

And the subject is mighty purty.
I love
30.gif
30.gif
her teeny mouth -- so cute!
And her hair is really starting to come in.

MrsS, thank you! I think I am going to start mixing half whole milk with her bottles soon. I want to do it before her 1 year in case there is a reaction. I even tried mixing some apple juice in her sippy with water and she made a face and threw it. But she will drink out of a glass (we hold it for her obviously). She seems to like water.

And, well, this is hard to explain. Suffice it to say my husband was involved. I''m afraid to let him near the duct tape....

hehe, too funny

Tacori
Thanks for the info.
I didn''t know that Michaels or Walmart sell those smaller sheets.

TGal
Haha, as much as you love them, sometimes you just feel the need to be away for a little huh?
That''s great that you mom is able to take care of her while you are away.
Gives them more bonding times.
You are so lucky that Amelia is great with routine.
J eating and sleeping schedule is all over the place.
She is a bit cooperative with her down for the night schedule though.

No, not walking yet. She''s decided to take it easy for a while
2.gif

She''s getting more brave with her standing though.

stand.jpg

lili what a darling J is!!! i love her hair. she just be a really early walker. so she is pulling herself up? that''s so great! you must be so proud of her.

tgal i actually love the D80 indoors too, but i almost always leave it in the garage when we get home from trips or what not. then when i want to get it out, it''s still sitting in the garage. we''re looking into getting the D200 just because we love taking pictures of everything, and we LOVE cameras. we''re a bit weird
2.gif

tacori B takes the sippy, but my friend''s child never took the sippy, he just went straight to regular big cups and straws. B actually likes straws better than the sippy. i''ve actually started to give B some milk here and there but not as a meal, but for a drink. we also give him potatoes, pancakes, oatmeal, meat, mac and cheese. i''m sure T will be fine. maybe start to gradually give her more table food. but keep giving her baby food as well. my friend''s kid also stayed on baby food until he was 15 months because he couldn''t get used to the texture of table food. but they gradually increased the amount of table food.

Tgal and lili - those pictures are delicious! They totally make my day. Lili, how do you stop yourself from squishing those cute little legs all day long? OGM! I have to catch up on everyone later, but now I am needed to help DD with algebra
14.gif

QT
Correction, my sister told me that it did come with the pump.
The hospital only gave her a set of tubings to use at the hospital.

And puffy is right about the pump attachment coming with the advanced version.
The original pumpinstyle doesn''t come with it.

lili, I think she is lazy! Why feed herself when all she has to do is open her mouth? There are some sure fire finger foods (like those gerber wheels which she ADORES) but usually she only eats 1 Table spoon of rice (for example) and the rest ends up on the floor
20.gif

Oy vey. I am soooo behind. Dang grad school taking up all my time.

So here''s a mass congrats on the new teeth/hair/standing/walking/etc. Everyone''s babies are getting cuter by the day.

Newest news on my end: Jay is finally sleeping better. Two nights ago she woke up and was screaming. By the time I got to her room upstairs, she had pulled herself up in her crib and was standing with one chubby little leg hiked up trying to climb out of her crib! Suffice to say that we promptly lowered her crib to the lowest setting (after I nearly had a heart attack) and now call her the "escape artist"

Here is a pic from the pumpkin festival that we went to this weekend.

And here''s our impromptu family pic

CIMG1728.jpg

msb, cute pixs of ur little guy. looks like at wonderful vacation with beautiful weather!

lili, little B has gain back the weight he lost at the hospital and even added some weight. J is so cute! look at the little legs. We have the same onesies, DH picked it out for little B at Old navy.

jas, your babies are just too cute~ the feeding pix really cracks me up

Thanks Tgal, love the new pixs of Amelia!!! This new camera shoots good without flash..pixs color looks great. Little B is like Amelia, he shuts his lips tight for baby food but when water and toast comes the mouth is wide open with "ah ah" sound.

Tacori, hope T''s teeth will come out soon. Little B don''t take sippy too, but he will drink it right out of the water bottle or with a straw.

misspinky, Jay is so cute, look at that smile. Beautiful family pix.

update on little B''s condition: He had his first appt. with the specialist today and Dr. said his 2nd echocardiogram looks good and she think little B is recovering really well. So we''ll see her again next month with 3rd echo. Boy was I happy to hear the 2nd echo looks good...*phew*

quick drive-by

Tgal--yay, welcome back, we missed ya! Beautiful new shots of Amelia. That camera is crystal clear!
I am totally with you lovin this stage. Our babes now have true personalities and i don''t think i''ve laughed so much in a loooong time (boy cracks me up on an hourly basis). How can kids be so cute without saying a word?! Glad A is eating better for you. I haven''t tried water yet, you''ve made me curious ...

MrsS. Co hasn''t broken a tooth yet but he''s sleeping better now too!!! Yay for some more sleep. I need a mommy break as well (not as much as you i am sure) but when you realize that you''ve only been apart from your baby for a couple hours in 6 months you feel deserving of one night away (or just an afternoon). That''s not going to happen for a loooong time, but a girl can dream. At least i will be on holiday very soon and that''s a break from routine. Any chance you can get away for a bit?

Puff--yep, made the cuppies. They were good (i''ll post a pic on the cupcake thread soon)

Jas--LOL your hubby is one resourceful guy. You gotta do what you gotta do
3.gif

Misspinky--what a beautiful family you have!

Lili--oh sure, post a pic of J standing with ONE hand!!!! SHOW OFF hehe. What a little wonder she is.

I am staying up late to watch election results (*hopin* for a new Prime Minister tonight, but it''s not looking good right now. I think canada is the first country to have a federal election since the market melt-down and it really threw the campaigns for a loop in the last week before voting)

More tomorrow...

Hi ladies! It has been so long since I posted I dont know where to start. There are so many new babies on here, and they are just too adorable.

Jas- the twins are too cute.
Tacori,-Tessa is such a doll! all these clips make me want a girl...no not ready yet!!! As for food Ian eats everything. seriously, EVERYTHING! He is obsessed with smart dogs, TJ''s frozen pancakes, morningstar broccoli bites, goldfish, cod fish sticks, cauliflour with cheese, ravioli, tilapia, yogurt, string cheese, chilli, I could go on and on. Last night he ate more chicken and dumplings than I did!!
Tgal- Congrats on the camera. I love my DSLR, I have a canon though...simply because the lenses are cheaper and a I wanted a few good prime lenses for closeups. I''m far from a pro (hardly a hobbiest)...but am getting better at exposure! Your pictures look great! Also, I have been meaning to ask you if you know of a good pumpkin patch around here. I want to go sometime this next week.

The news with me...Ian is one, he is walking all over the place, he has 3 of his 4 molars...which is torture TORTURE! The gums bleed as they come out..but he is a good eater. He still wants to stuff everything in his mouth instead of taking bites though! he also is still an amazing sleeper, and honestly, if possible he gets cuter every day.

Here are a few pro pics from his bday party! it was a chicago cubs party...right before they got swept by the dodgers
7.gif
I made the cake and cupcakes, we ordered Chicago food in from Portillo''s and even had old style sent in from Chicago. It was an awesome party and you cant tell from the pictures...but there were close to 50 people there! I need to start making a birthday book on shutterfly...but I just haven''t had the time!

bday cubs 1.jpg

Although I don''t have any kids nor will we likely have any. I LOVE coming here just to see our PS babies. Please keep the photos coming. All our babies are GORGEOUS!

lili, I''m with Jas...a one handed stand? Every time I look at J, I trip out realizing that she is younger than Amelia and so so so far advanced! What a little smarty she is. I also love her mischievous, yet innocent look.

msf, so good to see you! Love the collage...what a great theme for a great bday boy. What park did you have it at? Polliwog? I don''t know of another park around here with water. As for a pumpkin patch...hahaha you are asking the wrong woman. I don''t have a costume for Amelia nor am I a festivities kind of gal. Maybe lili or QT will know? Sorry about that...

And yeah, I really wanted to get some prime lenses because they are so reasonable and exactly what I wanted, but I didn''t like the bigger cameras. I still can buy the primes...I just have to manually focus on the D40. I''ll see how this lens does and if the pictures aren''t cutting it for me, I''ll buy a 50mm or something.

puffy, I have a camera fetish too...so I understand. I may upgrade to the D90 in a couple of years when the prices come down. But for now, this D40 fits my hands perfectly.

misspinky, what a beautiful family you have. And man...if I were you, I wouldn''t have recovered from the heart attack too well. I keep thinking we need to lower the crib but Amelia is SO not motor skills talented. I know she''s going to be a stealth stander though...it will be just my luck.

Bobo, wonder why babies like water? No taste...maybe they are thirstier than we realize or something? Go figure...I don''t get it. My friend''s kid loves toast too. So glad to hear little B is recovering really well. Those hospital pics of his are still vivid in my mind. Tell him no more hospital!!!!
1.gif

Jas, I totally crack up at this kid too. And then, like you, I kind of wonder why because it really isn''t all that funny. People ask me all the time how she is doing and what she is doing and I say she is fine and is doing stuff that really isn''t interesting to anyone but me. I don''t want to bore people with stories! But when you raise a child, it''s in the little things. And it''s SO wonderful.

Squee! Janine, she is just perfection! What lovely features...ya did good!

And I love how her socks are loose around her little legs. Enjoy it...she''ll be filling out faster than you can say "milk!!!"

Thanks Admin, for posting and visiting us here.

I have my first clogged milk duct and it hurts! Tacori, any good advice? I'm using a heating pad and massaging it while nursing.

D had his follow-up hearing test today since high jaundice levels could cause hearing loss (although hearing loss isn't a big concern when it comes to jaundice nowadays). He passed and was the best patient she has had in a long time! The newborn hearing test could take over an hour to complete if the baby is fussy and/or crying. D was asleep most of the time so each ear only took a minute or so. Most of the time was spent preparing for the test. He was a good boy.

msb, cute pictures of your handsome little boy!

lili, babies sure do look cute when they are nursing. Love the picture of J standing! What a cutie!

jackie, that picture of the twins is hilarious! It made me LOL!

TGal, love the pictures of Amelia. She's adorable. I love your new camera and I'm jealous! Enjoy it! You've got me thinking about investing in a good camera!

misspinky, love your family picture! What a beautiful family!

MsF, I love the collage of pictures! Great pictures!

Bobo, great news about B's second echos!

janine, Chloe is beautiful!

PS Admin, thanks for posting these pictures for us to see!

It's great to hear that every new stage is the best. I know I'll miss D as a tiny newborn but I can't wait to see him grow up!

Bobo, seems like a normal thing then (the sippy cup issue). Thanks! Sounds like little B is doing well! That is wonderful news!

misspinky, ADOREABLE pics! BTW I love your wedding dress. You have a killer body. *sigh*

MsF!!! Love the photos. Ian is so amazingly cute! Looks like his b-day was wonderful.

Dia, how cute you said "our". I feel the same way
16.gif

janine, she is so beautiful! T had the same jammies. I was actually obsessed and bought all the sizes for the pink and purple version. I will NEVER do snap jumpers again

snlee, do I ever! I would apply heat (I used a heating pad and rotated with a hot wash cloth so I got dry and wet heat) and rub in between feedings. I got a bad one at my parents and slept with one of those cloth rice bags you put in the microwave. It was horrible. Depending on how deep/large it is it can take up to a week or two to completely unclog. Also advil helps with the swelling. Take it religiously. Okay, this next part is going to make me sound crazy but one of my clogs was so large I could barely lift my arm. I was in tears. Seriously. So I researched like crazy and all these blogs said to nurse on all fours. So when alone (your DH might die laughing) prop the baby at an angle on your bed. I used a few pillows. Lean over and nurse. T was freaked out at first and the milk comes out MUCH faster (plus good arm work-out haha) but after ONE feeding like that my pain was 50% gone. A few more and it cleared. That is what I did for all my major ones. Miracle!!! I got a clog of some size every few weeks. I noticed certain parts seemed to clog over again more often and some were WAYYYY deeper and larger than others. Another tip that never really helped me was switching nursing positions so the babies chin massages the clog. Mine where always too high, too large or by my armpit so that would never work for me. Make sure you empty it too. Don't favor your "good side". It is old milk in there that has to come out or the clog will get worse. I actually nursed/pumped MORE on the infected side when I had a clog. When I talked out of complete desperation with an LC she said some women were just more prone (lucky me!). There is medication for chronic cloggers but there are risks and that was something I never wanted to deal with. Ways to prevent future clogs (obviously some of it is just nature) avoid sleeping on your stomach (the pressure is not good), no underwire or ill fitting bras and avoid getting engorged. They are more common with stress or after an illness. Hope this helps. I feel your pain girl!

Admin, thanks for posting Janine's pics
