Ohh sad that you ladies can''t make it! TL - public transportation! I''m taking public transportation from Hyde Park...well probably I''ll be in the downtown area anyway. I have a LASIK follow-up at 2 in Lincoln Park so I might as well do some shopping and hanging out at Tiffanys

Cellentani, I forgot about that sapphire! It is way too small for my mom (I showed it to her) so I''m hanging onto it for now (she got a wallet from me instead for Xmas). I think I might have it bezel set sometime and maybe get a couple more smaller ones and jump on the stacking rings bandwagon

It''s still too funny and coincidental that your husband graduated from UC - I''m sitting in the Green Lounge now in preparation for class. I wonder if he ever had Prof. Epstein? I''m positive Epstein would''ve been around then, as well as Prof. Strauss. Did he ever have Obama?

I asked my jeweler if they could have my setting ready by next Tuesday because I leave for home on Wednesday (BF is meeting my parents- my dad is home from the Middle East). It looks likely so hopefully I''ll have good pictures soon!
Okay, BEG, I think that when you start forgetting about stones in your personal inventory, it''s a sure sign you need to share the wealth, LOL. Let''s see, Dan Stair sapphire, nope, I''m not gonna forget that one.

DH did have Epstein for Torts and Property, and thinks that Hutchinson and Epstein would be likely to remember him; I actually have memories of walking with DH (then FI) on campus and having Epstein jumping up and down waving hello to us.

Will you be home for your birthday? Mine is next Thursday, so I''ll be thinking of you, and hoping the visit goes well for BF and parents. Can''t wait to see pics.

Haha very true. I really need to stop collecting stones for a while and focus on getting them set. Hopefully I''m making some strides with this spinel and my opal reset. I think I''m going to set my blue-green tourm soon too.

I had Epstein for Torts as well - he is a crazy crazy man (brilliant but crazy). Thank goodness he tested on black letter because class notes were a bit useless

I won''t be home (actually my birthday is this weekend on Superbowl Sunday) but I''ll be there next week so I can do a belated celebration with my parents too. BF is taking me out to dinner sometime this weekend, probably Saturday (Friday was nixed because of the GTG, lol, and we''re watching the Superbowl on Sunday) to one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Happy early birthday! Although of course I''m going to wish you happy birthday next week too!

Do I see a birthstone LOGR in your future soon, two-tone rose and white gold?

Oh so ladies, my jeweler quoted me $150 for each setting job??? They said it was because of the carat size of the stone.... but I got my 2 ct garnet set in my LOGR for $25. Even if the usual is $50, $150 seriously??? But I''m in a rush because I need this done this weekend preferably...but the girl who helped me today (not the usual girl that I''m friends with - she was busy) really irritated me too (the irritation from her assuming that I know nothing about colored stones or jewelry

Is that because it''s white gold and they need to charge you for re-rhodium plating it? My jeweler charges around the same amount for setting a stone in white gold, otherwise, it''s a $35 charge. They charge an absolute fortune for the rhodium plating because they have to completely repolish the ring before plating it, and the metal is expensive. I told them to NOT re-rhodium plate the ring until I looked at it. Glad I did because they didn''t need it, and I saved a ton.

$150??!! That''s crazy-talk! We both know it''s the same procedure to set a 10ct stone as it is a 1ct stone. That''s really frustrating. Did this come from the jeweler/bench guy, or the sales girl? ''Cause if it''s the sales girl, it''s worth another try. Sorry to hear about this aggravation - that''s the last thing you need.

You know I''m going to call them tomorrow and check. If it''s not for rhodium plating I''m going to ask them to clarify why it''s so expensive...it seems really excessive

I know! I''m just confused - I mean, if it was a small price difference...but this is a lot... It came from the sales girl and she didn''t seem like she knew as much as the other girl I usually work with. So I''m going to call the one I usually work with tomorrow and get clarification....I mean, it''s a really simple setting job. The stones fit the setting perfectly... and it''s not like the prongs are encrusted in diamonds or anything!
