This is going to be a LONG weekend for you LS! I hope it passes quickly - get a mani and a massage so you can be ready for us PS hounds!

Oh, and I pick up my BB tourmaline and halo setting today! Hopefully it turned out ok . . . I''m scared the prongs or miligraining may have gone awry.

I''m going to cry. Scratch that, I already did. I am posting this here as I do not want to start a new thread whining, and I know and trust the ladies that frequent this thread.

I went to pick up my star sapphire.

There were scratch/tool marks on the inside face of each of the prongs. Visible to the naked eye.
And it''s hugely tall. But whatever.
I took it back.
They tried to tell me it was no big deal. She was using a loupe like they were hard to see.
I said it was a big deal.
They tried to fix it.
I could still see them.
I was oficially pissed off and upset.
"Well that''s because the head wasn''t designed for this kind of stone."
Me: I CALLED you. Do you remember, the freaked out phone call, when you told me it would be okay.
"I told you it would work."

Other gal stepped in, they are polishing the tool marks out.
It is still hugely tall.

While we were at it we also had a discussion about the split shank they had to fix, and the wonky prongs on my e-ring.
They tried to tell me that maybe in my original design, they were uneven. Excuse me? I don''t think so.
Adam (DH) is going to go and pick up the star sapphire, because I am not going back in there.

I am PMSing and crying about it.
And I just want my diamond back in its solitaire with my plain band back.
And I''ll have to reset my grandma''s star sapphire at a later date, if I can''t get used to how high it is. I''m definitely going to try.

And did I mention I am one of those people that gets all splotchy when they cry?
Because I am.

Thanks Lauren. I feel really, really silly. And stupid, for essentially wasting money. *sigh*

Dani, I think your jeweler needs a serious a$$ kicking. They have not done a single thing right by you - PLEASE go elsewhere forevermore! I''m so sorry they keep screwing things up

Oh I''m so sorry Dani!! That''s awful. Do you have the ring in your possession? And any pics?

ME TO....hang on, let me turn the bus around (I know we''re on the way to Jeff White''s with Gin and Ice Cream but we can do a detour).

Who else is in to go beat some sense into Dani''s jeweller?

OMG you guys are so amazing. And you're going to make me cry again because you rock so much, LOL.

If you'd like to thump heads, feel free!!!

MonkeyPie- Adam is picking the ring up when it is done. I am never going back there again. I told them as much on the way out the door. "I'll have my husband come and pick up my ring, because I do not care to do business with you any more."

Freke- They have the star sapphire ring, and are polishing out the tool marks. No pics- I didn't have a whole lot of time since I was on my lunch break.

Swimmer - Thanks. I appreciate it.

Skippy- They're "fixing" it. They offered to take my e-ring back and fuss with it again and I basically told them I didn't care to leave my diamond in their posession again, thanks so much. (And yes, I've louped the GIA cert to make sure it's still mine!!!)

Well. Learning experience, right? (Trying to be positive).

I have learned:

1. I like funky jewelry, but not on my left hand. I'll get my classic back, and leave the playing for the right hand.
2. Snap decisions are bad. Next time, sit on an idea for at least a week before going forward with it.
3. My lovelies on PS are amazing.
4. My hubby is wonderful as well.
ETA: 5. I am too much of a perfectionist for a custom ring.

Ahhhh, so sorry to hear about your jeweler.

Definitely time to find a better one. So glad that the husband is a keeper, though.

We both have our things. He plays video games, and gets really, REALLY passionate about them, LOL. He almost couldn''t play Warhammer and was almost in tears, so he gets the obsession with odd things, LOL!

They called and said they were finished polishing it. I think I need to wait and go with DH. I''m too emotional right now.

Dani:

I posted early quickly from work, but wanted to add that I am so sorry that your recent projects have not brought you the joy you were expecting.
8.gif

And you were SO EXCITED before each item was completed. So I can't imagine how that would feel.

I hope that you come to some resolution to the problem(s) and find JOY in your jewellery.

Sometimes things take a circuituous route to perfection: maybe that's all that's happening with your rings. So please don't lose hope: maybe take a breather, and concentrate on getting one thing done, and done right. Yes, it cost you some $$ but in the big scheme of things, you will be happier once you get your ring sorted out. Maybe the ER first, and leave the others for a while.

Thanks LS. Kind words, and they are appreciated! DH and I had a chat when I got home about the e-ring (I tried to get the sapphire, but they closed earlier than I thought). He really likes the new e-ring setting, but the wonky prongs are bugging him as well. I hadn''t realized that he really likes the new setting more than the old one.

I also came to the conclusion that I''m more frustrated with the process than with the ring. I''m going to poke around and see if I can find a jeweler around here that will fix the prongs and polish the inside of the ring for me. I hadn''t mentioned before, but the inside is rough, and you can see it when you look through the ring.

So, I''m going to peruse my limited choice of jeweleres around here, and see if I can get the minor imperfections fixed. Because, I think if the ring had been perfect when it was put on my hand, I would love it. So, I''m going to get the problems fixed, with someone new, and see what happens. If I want to go back to a solitaire at some point in the future, fine, but I need to give the new ring a chance to be all it can be.

The star sapphire.... will have to be worn insanely high until I can save up enough to get it reset.

And you''re right. The let down has been insane. *sigh* Ah well. Live and learn.

And a big, BIG thank you to all for listening to me and helping me out as all these snags have come along.

So I think I'm going a bit nuts today.

Spent an hour on the phone with Fedex getting myself sorted about how to bring my ring in through customs to Canada. It ships Tuesday, they calculate it will clear customs on Wednesday, at the latest, it will be delivered to my office on Thursday morning, possibly earlier.

Spent another hour looking at the pictures...again....

Read every thread on Pricescope in EVERY category....

IS IT TIME FOR ICE CREAM YET????

LS

Aw LS.

I''m sure it will all go smoothly!

Out of curiosity, what part of Canada are you in? (If you don''t mind telling me, I understand if you''d rather not). My sister lives in Mississauga. (I am fairly certain I spelled that wrong, LOL).
