I just sent my ering off to Julian at Pearlman''s yesterday. It''s so nerve-wracking to think that there is this $11,000 piece of my heart just floating around out there trying to get to Minnesota! I''m biting my nails!!

Beverley K has told them to expect my new halo to arrive Sept. 19th!!!!! Bill will remove my stone from its current setting and do a full appraisal on it then. Apparently they do not have the equipment for a sarin measurement, so he''ll have to take the stone somewhere to do that. My certification is HRD (Antwerp) and it doesn''t have all the measurements necessary to establish an accurate AGA cut grade, and I want my insurance to make sure to be able to replace my stone (if, heaven forbid, anything ever happens to it) with another ideal cut. Especially since HRD is not that well known in the US.

Well, Julian leaves this evening for a weeks vacation, and I have this feeling of going into suspended animation. He is so wonderful at returning emails, answering phone calls, and getting all the information I ask for right away. I know that my ring couldn''t be in better hands, but I''m overwhelmed with nervous anticipation!!!
Oh my goodness. You are going to need copius amounts of either: Gin, Chocolate, Ice Cream or Rug Hooking!

Such an exciting project: It''s really hard when someone else has your stone!

LS

Wow...Hi Ladies I''m so sorry I''ve missed so much! I haven''t been on PS lately since school just started and I''ve been crazy with open house, grading papers and endless other mess.

Kelli and gdani.....wow....Huge amounts of chocolate, gin or whatever else you need coming your way!!

As for me and my update *sigh* I think we hit a snag. I called my jeweler the other day because I hadn''t heard from them in a bit. They were supposed to be calling in a different size PC diamonds for my Wband bc the first ones were too big. I thought it was weird because I hadn''t heard from them in almost 2 weeks. So, when I called they said they had approved the diamond FOR ME and sent them off to grow the first cast and a CAD for me. WTF????
ohno.gif
HECK NO!! So after some screaming...and I DO MEAN SCREAMING I am having them STOP and send the diamonds back so I can approve them. We again had to go through the idea that they DO NOTHING without my approval. Luckily I caught them before anything was done. I asked them to have the diamonds and a scale drawing w/measurements ready for me when I go back. I told them if they DIDN''T then the deal is OFF and I''m taking my business elsewhere. (I refuse to not have COMPLETE control!!) Sorry to be a b**** but really....this is my ering and wedding band I''m talking about here!!

So GRR!
wahh.gif
lot of captain this week for me while I wait!! Off to a college game today too so I''m hoping that will take my mind off of it!!

Oy! Well, at least you caught it before they did anything! Let us know how it goes!

I am now debating palladium or platinum. The only downside I can find to palladium is if I need something done to my ring I may have to send it back to the designer. Thoughts?

Hey gdani,

I don''t know much about palladium honestly...I decided to go with platinum myself. I''m not sure if I could let go of my ring once I get it but that''s just me. If it was out of my sight for too long I think I would get nervous. How far away do you have to send it?

I''d take it to my jeweler and they''d pop it back to CA (I''m in MI) to get worked on. I mean, I never had to have anything done to my original set, and I wore it for 3 years, so I''m not too worried about it. I would love to have platinum, but it''s just not in the budget right now. WG has always looked warm to me and bugs me a little, so palladium seems like the perfect compromise. And even if I do have to send it off- it''s insured and all that good stuff.

The cutter asked for longer to finish my recut!! I was told it took two weeks. Last week was two weeks. Then I was told mid-this week. Today I''m told next week. Then they send it out to re-cert it which takes two more weeks. I feel like I just shouldn''t have done this at all! Do I really have to get it re-certified anyway? Can''t you get insurance for an uncertified stone? I feel like this is taking forever!

I''m so sorry Kelli. It WILL be worth it. And you SHOULD get it re-certified hon. I know it sucks. And your hand feels naked. And you feel like you never should have messed with it - believe me, I''m the same way. But - it will be back soon - and it WILL be worth it!

yay!

LS

Yeah!! Bring pics please!!!

Thanks guys! I know I do need to get it re-certed, I had just read the email and was sooooooo bummed, as I expected it to be done today. Believe me LS, I would love to call Lesley, but I don''t think there''s anything she can do. The cutter requested more time. I can''t rush the guy working on my diamond, so I''ll just continue to wait, even though it''s agonizing!

ANYWAY, sorry your jewelers aren''t cooperating ILE. I hope everything else goes smoothly. And Dani, let us know what you choose tomorrow. Don''t forget to take pictures for us! Have fun!

Okay... confession... I feel like a huge, HUGE dork bringing my camera into a jeweler...

Makes me feel like more of a spaz than I already am!!!

Will y''all kill me if I make you wait?

YOU ARE BEING A BRAT!

I seem to remember when you got your first setting (the one that didn''t work out....) that you posted late afternoon that you had it, then you TOOK OFF FOR A PARTY without posting pictures.

...do you think we forget things like that????????????
9.gif

So suck it up and take photos. Tell the jeweller it''s for your Mommy of somebody.

I agree with the other ladies dani WE WANT PICS NOW!! (I admit I have no patience at all!!)

Kelli- Thanks. I''m sorry you''re having to wait too, I certainly understand how frustrated you must be right now. I was supposed to have mine by mid-October at the LATEST, now it looks more like November. By then I will be COMPLETELY nuts I''m sure!!

In all seriousness, I think I am going to be sick. I honestly, truly thought that I was going to walk out of there tonight with a decision made. No such luck. And DH said he would come in here himself and vouch that I left the camera on the table and forgot it I was in such a hurry - I realized it halfway to the jeweler. So no pics.

The Diana Solitaire is gorgeous- if you have a 1.5 carat diamond. The band is just too wide for my little ole .75, bless her heart. And it just felt.... wrong on my hand. I wasn''t Oooooohing. Their Tiffany replica is great - but DH actively dislikes it. I mean, really, really dislikes it. And although it''s my hand, I respect his opinion.

So - My diamond is still in the safe.
sniffly%20sad.gif

We went to a store and I tried on a Scott Kay. And LOVED it. And DH LOVED it. And it''s way, way more then either of us wanted to spend. And - My diamond is still in the safe. LS - how the hell did you stand this!?!?!

gecko,

I think I might have posted it in another thread, but Knox Jewelers has a setting almost identical to the Scott Kay for $990 in white gold. I see you''re considering palladium (which I''m currently having a ring made in!), so are you not wanting white gold?

I''m sorry that it''s not yet a "decision" but sounds to me that you are making great progress! Hang in there, THE ONE will speak to you and you''ll find a way.

Ebree has a good thought....

Yeah it''s really hard when you don''t have the thing nailed down but it''s WORTH THE WAIT TO GET IT RIGHT!

....sending ice cream

You are all awesome, you know that?

EBree - I''ve seen that one and liked it. But the Scott Kay in Palladium is actually cheaper! Holy gold prices Batman! I''ve had white gold, and was never completely happy with the color. But the problem I''m having with Palladium is finding someone that has actually worked with the stuff! All the jewelers keep trying to talk me out of it. According to one it "develops an odd grey color." Now, is it me, or would designers like Scott Kay not use something that would eventually look like crap? I mean - come on. May I ask how you decided on Palladium?

LS - Yay for ice cream!!!

You''re right - it WILL be worth the wait.

MissPinky - Thanks luv. How''s that pink gorgeousness on your hand doing?

BEG - I can not wait to see your sapphire set!!! Yay!!!

And yay for Jeff White Asschers, LOL!!!

Kneeling - Your avatar makes me smile, LOL.
