I just sent my ering off to Julian at Pearlman''s yesterday. It''s so nerve-wracking to think that there is this $11,000 piece of my heart just floating around out there trying to get to Minnesota! I''m biting my nails!!
Beverley K has told them to expect my new halo to arrive Sept. 19th!!!!! Bill will remove my stone from its current setting and do a full appraisal on it then. Apparently they do not have the equipment for a sarin measurement, so he''ll have to take the stone somewhere to do that. My certification is HRD (Antwerp) and it doesn''t have all the measurements necessary to establish an accurate AGA cut grade, and I want my insurance to make sure to be able to replace my stone (if, heaven forbid, anything ever happens to it) with another ideal cut. Especially since HRD is not that well known in the US.
Well, Julian leaves this evening for a weeks vacation, and I have this feeling of going into suspended animation. He is so wonderful at returning emails, answering phone calls, and getting all the information I ask for right away. I know that my ring couldn''t be in better hands, but I''m overwhelmed with nervous anticipation!!!

Oy! Well, at least you caught it before they did anything! Let us know how it goes!
I am now debating palladium or platinum. The only downside I can find to palladium is if I need something done to my ring I may have to send it back to the designer. Thoughts?

Hey gdani,
I don''t know much about palladium honestly...I decided to go with platinum myself. I''m not sure if I could let go of my ring once I get it but that''s just me. If it was out of my sight for too long I think I would get nervous. How far away do you have to send it?

The cutter asked for longer to finish my recut!! I was told it took two weeks. Last week was two weeks. Then I was told mid-this week. Today I''m told next week. Then they send it out to re-cert it which takes two more weeks. I feel like I just shouldn''t have done this at all! Do I really have to get it re-certified anyway? Can''t you get insurance for an uncertified stone? I feel like this is taking forever!

I seem to remember when you got your first setting (the one that didn''t work out....) that you posted late afternoon that you had it, then you TOOK OFF FOR A PARTY without posting pictures.
...do you think we forget things like that????????????
So suck it up and take photos. Tell the jeweller it''s for your Mommy of somebody.

In all seriousness, I think I am going to be sick. I honestly, truly thought that I was going to walk out of there tonight with a decision made. No such luck. And DH said he would come in here himself and vouch that I left the camera on the table and forgot it I was in such a hurry - I realized it halfway to the jeweler. So no pics.
The Diana Solitaire is gorgeous- if you have a 1.5 carat diamond. The band is just too wide for my little ole .75, bless her heart. And it just felt.... wrong on my hand. I wasn''t Oooooohing. Their Tiffany replica is great - but DH actively dislikes it. I mean, really, really dislikes it. And although it''s my hand, I respect his opinion.
So - My diamond is still in the safe.
We went to a store and I tried on a Scott Kay. And LOVED it. And DH LOVED it. And it''s way, way more then either of us wanted to spend. And - My diamond is still in the safe. LS - how the hell did you stand this!?!?!
Oh - and everyone keeps trying to talk me out of palladium.
Here''s the Scott Kay. Someone hug me.

Squuuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzze (that''s me giving you a hug)
I''m so sorry that this process hasn''t been smooth sailing for you Dani, but I agree with everyone else--you''ll know ''the one'' when you see it. Waiting sucks (a lot) but it will be worth it in the end.
