Thank you both! That''s the one I''m leaning toward as well, though it''s hard to picture what any of them will look like on a (much) smaller scale.
 
EBree...are we talking about a channel set? And is this the ring that you wanted the lighter sapphs for?

Right now we're talking channel-set, but things may change as the stones were quite a bit smaller than I'd expected, so it might become a bead-set ring (depending on whether or not vendor can source larger sapphs and the cost hike). But for now, channel. And light blue sapphs.

Pics of the ring? Well, I have the CADs, but they're what you'd expect. I could post 'em, if it'd help.

The stones are 1.3mm each, which is 1 point. And the entire ring will be 2.5mm, which concerned me, because with the width being what it is, I was expecting bigger stones/less metal. Then again, I don't know what melee sizes are generally used in bands of that width.

Here are the sapphs (with two diamonds of the same size):

Kelli- I agree with Dani, if you feel like you can''t wait anymore (and none of us blame you..) then get the ring back, appraise it, and then re-cert later once you''ve had time to be with your ring again for a while. Many hugs coming your way!!


EBree- I like the 2 to 1 pattern as well. I think that will be very pretty!

HOLY CRAP, CRAP, CRAP, CRAP, CRAP!!!!! In the good way!!!!!!

I just talked to Julian from Pearlman''s. He was on vacation last week and I just knew he''d be bombarded this week just catching up since he seems to be doing so many projects for so many people! But my stone got there last Thursday. I was worried about an $11000 ring just sitting around until he got back, but that''s what these people do for a living, right? So it''s not like they''re going to lose it! But he had the stone removed and sent out for the Sarin yesterday! It should be back today. AAAANNNNDDDD..... he said the setting has arrived from Beverley K too!!!! He said it is gorgeous! (of course) Providing the stone arrives back today, it will take a day to mount and then he''ll send it out Priority Mail! It may be here and on my pudgy little finger by the end of the week!!!!!!

I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!! Can you tell I''m excited????

Julian absolutely rocks!! That man is so patient and kind. And he makes you believe that yours is the only and most important project he''s dealing with! His timelines have always been a couple of days AHEAD of schedue, and never once has he said "we can''t do that" or "that won''t work." I sure hope he''s being compensated according to his level of competence!
 
I just read your comment about the Ritani quote from Pearlman's. I'll bet Julian would send both settings out to you to try. Then you can see which you really like better without the pressure of a salesperson staring at you, especially when you know you have no intention of buying from them. He got a sample of the BevK ring and sent it out to me the next day. It certainly made a difference having it on my hand for several hours!

Oh, and if you talk to him again today, tell him I said "hello"!

They took my credit card number and put a $200 deposit on it. When I returned the setting they just cancelled the charge. No fuss, no muss!

I''ve emailed Barry with my laundry list of stones I''m looking for. I have 2.5 (1/2 because I haven''t received the last one yet

Round - up to 7.5 mm for the 6 prong setting with tiny bezel set side stones.
Round - 6 - 6.6 mm for the 4 prong split shank halo - I''m REALLY hoping to track down a nice OEC, but I''m open - just because the OEC will be really hard to find with my budget of up to $1,000.
Cushion - up to 7x7 mm for my second Legacy-esque setting.

All white gold . . . I''m really at a loss for what I want . . . since I am only hoping for a blue, red, pink, white, or purple stone for any of the three. Already have my green (mozambique tourmaline), orange (madiera citrine), and yellow (EC yellow sapphire) taken care of recently.

Bah - I''m so befuddled. I had 2 different diamonds lined up for 2 different settings, and I lost them both - one to a drain incident, and the other on Ebay.

Thanks Geckodani and ILE for understanding. I know they''re doing everything they can, it''s just so hard to wait because I keep looking forward SOOOOO MUCH to the time they give me, then every time they tell me it''ll be a few more days, or next week. Again, my hopes are extremely high that I''ll hear from them tomorrow and that my stone will be SAFELY and successfully recut. I also hope they can then stick it right in the mail towards the AGS. (My fiance told me I''ve waited this long, I''m seeing this process through and getting it re-certified). I''m sure he''s right, and so were all of you. But even with a packed out work schedule, I''m thinking about it constantly and the wait is agonizing!

OK I checked out the custom gems website. They''re prices seem really good! Are they unusually good or do I just not know enough about colored stones?
