asudesigner is unsmushing and making avatars over on hangout. She''s gone until tuesday, but meybe she could help you out? I''m going to ask her to unsmush the gecko, LOL. Here''s the thread.
Thanks! I saw that earlier and thought: how nice of her to do that! I never knew that "unsmushing" was a verb but now I do!

Welcome here EBree!

Nice project! What style of ring are you considering? Can you give us a sense of the size of the stones? They look very consistent but it might be hard because of the coloured background. Can you get them pictured outdoors on the back of a persons' hand? (an overcast day is best). That would give you a pretty true sense of the real colour.

How very exciting for you. keep us posted!

LS

Thank you! I'm going to have them set into a 2.5mm thin, channel set band like the one below, 3/4 eternity, alternating with diamonds. It's an anniversary gift, and since I'm big into comfortable jewelry, I know I'd get the most use out of a band. It'll go on the middle finger of my right hand. I love that it'll be thin and stackable! I chose sapphires because a) blue is my favorite color, and b) we were married in September.

I requested another photo of the sapphs next to diamonds, face up, to get a better idea of color, and should have it by Tuesday.

What do you think? I know channel-set rounds aren't the most popular at PS, but I love the way the band below looks. It looks sparkly and COMFORTABLE.

I like it. You are right: it looks sparkly AND comfortable!

It would help if they photographed the sapphs + diamonds on a white background (or anything other than the light blue, which I think skews the results a bit)

I''m addicted to the FedEx tracking site.

My ring has left Menphis and should be on its way overseas.

OH BOY I CAN RELATE!!!!

My FEDEX tracking page ended up being almost 2 pages long....I was going CRAZY

F5...F5...F5...F5...F5.....

It almost makes the wait worse, seeing that little parcel getting scanned every time it moves....I thought I was going to go insane.

Hope it gets there soon!

LS

Thank you, LS! I like the ring in the photo because the diamonds look nice and close inside the setting- minimal gap-age.

Lady_D- How exciting! Keep us posted.

Me too. The other thing I like about this one is that there isn''t too much metal on either edge. I have one very similar and the metal is distracting (especially because mine is YG).

Have fun with the order! Do you have a timeline?

OK this is probably a silly idea but I''m either gonna eat every bucket of ice cream within a 20mile radius, OR, I need a place to cope....

I wonder which is worse: waiting for your FI to do his thing, or, to be the person in charge of the ring purchase (ER or otherwise!)?

any thoughts?

LS

OK so back to my original question, which for me, I think I can answer:

The anxiety related to "KNOWING" that the ring was done and FEDEXED almost made me insane. I believe the ''refresh'' rate of the Fedex Tracker Page was busted over the 2.5 days it took for my ring to ship from WF to when it was finally in my hands.

I must admit, that the anxiety was offset somewhat by being in complete control of the project, but once it shipped, I was a mess.

My nightmares included:

1. When I opened the box it would be empty.
2. It would be someone else''s ring in the box.
3. It was my ring, but it turned out gawdawful ugly.
4. It wouldn''t fit.

So the downside to being in complete control of the project was that everything that could go wrong, would be my fault...that didn''t happen, but, custom design processes are so subjective it was a possibility.

So is a "surprise" better? For me, not really. Until the very end (ie: the ship date) it was a positive, fun project. But those last 2.5 days? AAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!

I just saw your other thread! Thanks! It''s beautiful.

So, is it ice cream, gin, chocolate or rug hooking that you need to hold on until your rings come in?

Thanks LS! Hmm that''s a tough choice I think I''m going to go with Capt. chocolate, and some ice cream if that''s okay with you! :) My new rings are helping me cope a little but I''m still dying for my ering for sure. I am supposed to back to the jeweler this week for another appointment...hopefully that will help too. :)

To be honest, I don''t know how long it''ll take. I''m going to put the order in on Tuesday, and since it isn''t terribly detailed custom, maybe 2 weeks? Less? Either way, I''m going to need a gin fizz as well next week!

I guess it would depend on how fast the stones can get in. It''s a short work week, and most places won''t ship out on a Friday. So if you order on Tuesday, with luck the stones will be at your jeweller quickly then they just have to set it. Where is the setting being ordered from? Or is it something they have in stock?

Good luck with it!
