Photo session! Now, let me just clear my schedule for tonight - I can''t miss this!

Mr Gecko is AWESOME. He backed me up at the jeweler, and we got a full refund on both pieces - at the cost of my settings unfortunately, LOL. So my diamond and my star sapphire are in the safe for the moment, LOL! Must pick a setting! Ack!

When you regain your sight from staring at your LUSCIOUS ring, I''ve got a thread over on RT trying to find settings!

Once again, YAY FOR YOUR SAPPHIRE!!!!

LOL Kelli. It's going to be a bit, I think. *sigh* I have to pick a danged setting first, LOL!!! Too many options!!

I'm ordering a tungsten band to wear in the meantime. Hubby's is tungsten, and I've wanted one for vacation purposes anyway, so I figured now was a good time to do it!

ETA: I swear, every time I look at that ring LS, my heart skips a beat!

Hi Kelli!

YES, there is an end in sight to these projects! But they seem to take to much time...so much ice cream...so much gin....so much chocolate...so much rug hooking!

I''m glad to hear your FI thought the WF workmanship was ''worthy'' of your stone! There''s nothing like a photo or 3rd party influence to turn these men around, huh?

Keep us posted about your recutting project: I''m fascinated to see how it turns out!

Get busy girlfriend!

Here''s a project for you:

Can I join? I''ve got a project in the works- a sapphire and diamond RHB (right hand band). I''ve always preferred the lighter blue sapphires (similar to the Prince of Wales color on the Cross Jewelers website), but I was having trouble finding such a light shade. I''d almost given up hope, but a vendor to be named later came through and sent me photos of several little guys they were able to find for me!

Since these sapphires would be the first colored stones I own, I wanted to see what all of you thought. I''ve put in an order to have them photographed next to a few small diamonds, to see the contrast.

Ebree - I''m certainly no expect on interpreting gemstones from photos, but the sapphires strike me as being very well matched (near as I can tell from the various angles) and sparkly. So, looks good to me, but hopefully you will get a more expert answer to your question.

I''ve been wanting to ask you, whatever happened to your semi-bezel three stone ring project? I''m thinking of doing one myself and found your thread from May.

Thank you, Fly! I can't wait to see more photos.

As for the three-stone bezel project, it was abandoned. I couldn't find anything that really spoke to me. I love the idea, and I've seen a bunch of beautiful settings, but nothing that warranted the $$$ it'd cost (esp. since I'd want platinum).

What are you thinking of doing?

I recently got a pair of Richard Homer round rubies, 4.5 mm, and they spoke to me and said I needed to put them as sidestones in a 3 stone ring. They are so amazing and red. So, a couple of days ago I bought a diamond (Crafted by Infinity, 0.70 ct F VS1, also an amazing stone, fitting for Richard''s rubies) for the center, and am looking for design ideas. I''d like a semi bezel, low set ring, and the pictures in your thread come as close as I''ve seen to my vision. I plan to start a separate thread after the Labor Day holiday, because I don''t have a camera now, and am about to shut off the computer here for a couple of days.

Good luck with your light blue sapphire and diamond project!

I think they look wonderfully matched!

What a fun project! Not a gem expert by any stretch of the imagination, but they look good to me!

I got bored and started taking copious amounts of pictures of my loose diamond, LOL! Over on SMTR. I''m going to the mall with my mom to try on a bunch of styles in an attempt to narrow down what I want in a setting!

LS- I had to stop and stare at your ring again. Good lord it''s beautiful!

Thank you, gecko! They''re small, but from what I can tell, they''re just the shade I was looking for!

Welcome here EBree!

Nice project! What style of ring are you considering? Can you give us a sense of the size of the stones? They look very consistent but it might be hard because of the coloured background. Can you get them pictured outdoors on the back of a persons'' hand? (an overcast day is best). That would give you a pretty true sense of the real colour.

How very exciting for you. keep us posted!

LS- Where did your ring avatar go!?!?

I didn't like it so I changed it back to the stone.....

Might need to play with it for a bit: need some cropping to the photos!

LS

ETA: ok, I stuck this one in for now. Will try and get a better shot tomorrow....

asudesigner is unsmushing and making avatars over on hangout. She''s gone until tuesday, but meybe she could help you out? I''m going to ask her to unsmush the gecko, LOL. Here''s the thread.
