Jeweler called with a preliminary wax for my ruby. I ran over there, made some comments, and revisions will be ready on Tuesday.

He still can''t figure out how to set my 9-sided garnet.

Well, I should keep busy by going back to work now....

I dropped by yesterday and he had the ring cast in gold, but had done no smoothing yet. I was able to try it on. I told him I wanted to be able to stack it with another ring that I happened to be wearing (my little green chameleon diamond), so he had me leave that ring with him so he could work with it. I think he is going to lower the profile a bit. The semi-bezeled head was looking pretty nice. Once I approve the ring, he has a benchman who has been trained in engraving who will go at it. I want some engraving on the surface to add interest. Preferably some sort of wing or feather design (to represent my flying, of course). Not sure yet what kind of design he has in mind. Whatever it is, I''m sure it will look neat. (I hope!)

It sounds like a GREAT project. Do you have a timeline on the finished product yet?

Just back from the jeweler. He had polished the ring, lowered the profile, and ground out the bowl where the ruby will sit. I approved it, and they are setting the ruby now. Last thing is figuring out what I want for the hand engraving. Jeweler suggested I take the ring, wear it for a few days, and come up with a design. So, I plan to pick it up before heading home today.

Jeweler said I need to get creative on the engraving design. I think I am going to need help from you all. Jewelry design creativity is not my strong suit.

We don''t have a song that is "ours" and have such diverse musical tastes (he''s a professional breakdancer and I was a ballerina for 18 years) that we can''t agree on anything. Sooo, we''re trying to find something acoustic that one of our friends can play the guitar for and another can do the vocals.

Oh, and did I mention that FI is NOT a fan of country (and I grew up on a farm listening to it--do you sense the musical conflict here?)...

I had to leave my wedding ring at the jelwelers. AGAIN.

The open/split shank was wider on one side then the other. About 1mm. It was driving me slowly insane. I hope when the diamond gets reset he fixes the wonky prongs too, although that doesn''t bug me that much. No news on the sapphires yet.

On a happy note, I finally got my little sapphire and tanzanite three stone rings sized. I''ll post pics tonight or tomorrow for you all.

Wow. That must be a disappointment. The other thing I notice in these 2 pics is your slightly off-centre prong. I didn''t see it in those first ones you posted, but it''s easier to spot in these. Hopefully they can fix both things to your satisfaction.

*sigh* Honestly - I can live with the prong, LOL. When my ring isn''t blown up to a million times its normal size, you can''t see it. I just - yeah. *sigh* I''ll let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the support guys.
