Royal Jewels

While I was away on holiday, the King and Queen of Spain paid of State Visit to Germany. The Queen wore a dramatic pair of ruby and diamond chandelier earrings and bracelet at the State Banquet (though sadly no tiara):

Then, on the next day she wore a forgotten pair of earrings from her m-i-l's collection featuring cabochon sapphires and diamond in a retro setting.

A new brooch for the official welcoming ceremony. It features a bow supporting a double row of laurel wreaths holding a sapphire pendant. Diamond solitaire earrings are another royal staple.

Then the Wolfers tiara and long diamond earrings with briolette aquamarine drops for the black tie dinner. Minimal, yet stately!

a new brooch is almost as excitting as a tiara moment

that braclete would go from day to night, from garden party to state banquite
from visiting an old people's home to visiting with a foreign leader

Last night, the Princess Royal wore the Maria Feodorovna sapphire brooch again for a dinner at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Kampala. HRH also wore Queen Elizabeth II's pearl necklace and a pair of statement sapphire earrings.

She looks radiant - better with bigger bling, imo.

Both Queens wore modern statement earrings, and Queen Silvia added her V-shaped diamond line necklace.

The Swedish Royal Couple will pay a state visit to the Hashemite Kingdom in mid November and I hope we'll see even more blig then.

There's nothing better than some mid-week Scandinavian glamour!
Last night the King and Queen of Sweden hosted the annual dinner for members of the Norwegian parliament. The dinner, which usually includes with lots of jokes by the King and Speak of the Parliament, was also attended by the Crown Princely couple of Princess Astrid, Mrs. Ferner.

Queen Sonja, who is the Queen of Recycling Looks, wore the same jewels and gown as last month in Copenhagen at Margrethe II's Golden Jubilee.

The Crown Princess also went for her favourite - the diamond daisy bandeau, but added a surprising pair of earrings*.
Princess Astrid wore her ruby aigrette - one of the more peculiar tiaras in current use by any royal lady. She also added a diamond riviere and bangle with a large white sapphire to complete her regal look.

The pearl earrings have a sentimental family provenance - they were a wedding present to Crown Princess Martha from her dear aunt Princess Thyra. There were some conflicting versions of the story, but either the pearl clusters could be swapped with sapphires, there were two very similar pairs or at some point the sapphires were changed for the pearls.

After Martha passed away, the earrings were shared between her two daughters. When her jewelry was split up in the late 1960's, they went to her elder daughter Ragnhild and were obviously returned to the main line after her death.

The Dutch Royal Couple have finally arrived in Greece for a much-postponed State Visit!

For the official welcoming ceremony and engagements on the first day, Queen Maxima, the Queen of Funny Faces, wore lovely pearls, both heirloom and new.

Her pearl drop brooch dates back to the days of Queen Sophie of the Netherlands.

It is Monday, so I wore my usual tiara, but since it is Halloween I figured I could go ahead and wear a full gala gown! Happy Halloween from the Kingdom of Chemistry!

A lovely colleague lent me a laurel wreath today, so me dream came true today - I wore a tiara at work. And I was royalty, too. LOL

*we don't really celebrate Halloween here, but enjoy a bit of dressing up

State Visits usually mean tiaras, but the recent suit and tie banquet for the Belgian royal couple in Athens didn't set the bar high for when it was their Dutch colleagues' turn to finally visit the country.
However, Maxima being true to herself didn't disappoint and wore one of her bigger tiaras - the one from the Mellerio parure. She also added the matching brooch and pendant (mini devant-de-corsage), bracelet and rings.
Maybe it was her way to celebrate Halloween? Maybe she just loves the bling? Either way, it was greatly appreciated :)

Some might know that one of the largest gatherings of tiaras in XX c. history was 60 years ago in Athens. The occasion - the pre-wedding gala in honour of Juan Carlos of Spain and Sophia of Greece and Denmark. The location was the Royal Palace, which hosted the Dutch royals this night.
On that very occasion a young Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands wore the same ruby tiara and even the brooch. How wonderful is that!

i really like Margret's brooch

Not jewelry related but just noticed that Margaret dyed her hair but it seems the Queen just went with the natural graying of the hair..l is this true? Plenty of hats and tiaras would hide noticeable roots.
