Show me your Van Cleef and Arpels jewelry!

Just got a coveted piece off of my wishlist (thanks to my lovely SA)! It’s my first VCA guilloche item! The earrings are so reflective and shiny—don’t even miss the pave!

I altered them to include the longer posts which were also soldered in place. I did notice that they are heavier than my hammered gold VA earrings (for those who are sensitive to the weight on their earlobes).

The WG guilloche matches my platinum and WG pieces perfectly! I highly recommend them for all the white metal lovers out there!

I recently saw a woman (at Chuck E.Cheese no less) with the yellow gold guilloche magic necklace and vintage bracelet and they were stunning in person!

Oh how fabulous to see the YG guilloche in the wild (at of all places, lol)!

Beautiful!

Out of interest, which piece do reach for more - the pave or the guilloche?

I've been wearing the WG guilloche more recently since it is new!

I'm even contemplating the YG guilloche if I ever venture into YG pieces b/c I love how shiny the guilloche IRL!

Love this thread! Everything is so beautiful. :)

I visited the Chicago boutique while in town a couple of weeks ago. I tried on the rose gold Signature bangle and ring. Unfortunately, I'm between a size S and M for the bangle, so it won't work for me. But I bought the ring!

I also fell in love with the rose gold, gray mother of pearl Magic pendant. I will probably buy that as my next piece in a few months, unless I get distracted. I also tried the new perlee/diamond ring and the clover ring, but those were too bulky for my fingers.

I would looooove to have the five-motif gray MOP/diamond bracelet and the rose gold/diamond (single) butterfly ring one day.

As expected, they had no hammered rose gold pieces. I hope to have the five-motif bracelet and 16-motif sweet necklace one day.

Here's my new ring that arrive yesterday. My size was not in stock at the boutique, so I had to wait a while. I'm really into this simple rose gold / diamond look lately. (With my new Whitefalsh tennis bracelet and BG studs.)

Love how you have integrated RG VCA with your diamond staple pieces!

I am also on the waitlist for a 5 motif RG hammered piece! Let's keep our fingers crossed that orders will open up again soon!

My experiences have been inconsistent. Sometimes rather than trouble my SA I’ll call in to check availability of something - the status of a SKU on the do-not-order list, say… On a few occasions an online boutique SA has given me wildly inaccurate info. And on other calls I’ve been privileged to speak with someone very helpful - I stash those folks’ names! ❤️

I always order anything that’s in production and that I’m eligible for through my SA though - I’m in sales myself, I know how much I value my customers’ loyalty. I’ve missed out on a couple of things but something else has always come along to make up for it.

That's been my experience as well. I wish I had a local boutique but my first VCA purchase was done on vacation and subsequent purchases were all done online. I'm trying to get my posts swapped for the longer, thinner posts. Is there an additional charge for that service in your experience? The price is not an issue, I just want to know what to expect. Thank you!

There was a $180 charge when I had this done, however, others have mentioned it was free for the first year. I only swapped out the posts on one pair and I had owned them for a couple of years, so it may be complementary if they are fairly new.

Thank you! I got them just over a month ago. I was directed to call a boutique by online CS for the adjustments but the boutique referred me back to online. I was given different answers both times.

Your new pieces look lovely. You will love the GMOP Pave piece paired with you diamond jewelry.

IMG_6597.jpeg

Wore this combo this weekend and I just love it.

This is stunning! I am always struggling to find a way to work in this semi-pave JUC. I love how it looks with your onyx pave VA bracelet and diamond bangle.

I appreciate the insights and feedback, and it's actually quite helpful that I had a bit more time to consider it. You know what, I think I will treasure what I have for now with RDN. However, be ready when I post that I just added a new one, because that sounds like me! I do think you are quite smart, and saying in the most kind way what is true: if MOP was as rare as turquoise, would I still be more intrigued by the turquoise, even knowing there would be fewer occasions to wear it. You are absolutely correct, I suspect that the answer is indeed no.

A fellow June birthday? How lovely is that!

You are right on the mark. I do really love tahitian pearls and grey pearls. I always look for steely, oily tones or for rainbow tones, but I actually did not know that green tahitian pearls were a different category. I know a decent amount about diamonds, antiques and a few select designer brands, but basically nothing about pearls other than the research I had to do to get customs to approve my GMOP SO pieces to enter the country after Selfridges VCA had miscategorized the species as endangered and I had to resubmit the paperwork for them! Thank you for giving me another fun classification to research.

I enjoy mixing brands and unbranded with branded. I especially enjoy wearing unique small artisan designer items, one-off beautifully crafted items or truly special and a little ornate vintage/antique jewelry pieces with designer pieces. Let's be honest, most of the new branded pieces that I can easily afford do not have an intricate design element, or if it does, it is not truly handmade. I love to see at least one piece that was made over time with creativity, inspiration and the touch of a true artist's hands. That is magical to me!

Hope you are well. Give the zoo some love for me.
You are certainly not alone in enjoying the unanticipated!!

I attended an event held by Paspaley a few days ago - they’re an Australian company that specializes in white South Sea pearls, and they also produce most of the white MOP that the big fashion and jewellery houses use. Availability and price increases came up in every conversation - the pearls are becoming rarer, everyone agrees, so it’s only a matter of time before pearl byproduct like MOP becomes less accessible as well. I am confident your clip really will become a prized rarity one day!

Amusingly, there was a lot more Alhambra at this Paspaley event than Paspaley; I probably shouldn't be surprised

And since I was in the city of course I had to stop by my VCA boutique. I rather want a MOP clip too, now! The wishlist never ends.

Dealing with mislabelled goods in customs sounds like a complete headache. Do you mind me asking, do you primarily shop in the UK? The Selfridges carnelian/hammered LE from an epoch ago remains one of my favourite combinations

I should clarify, the bright green pearls aren't a different type or classification. Just that vendors tend to cherry pick them out of lots. And charge more for them, of course. :wink2:

It really wasn't too long ago that I didn't understand the appeal of branded goods. Of any sort, not just jewellery. Why buy off-the-shelf when you can get exactly what you want for the same cost, or less? Thing is, I wasn't considering the effort required to babysit a custom project... Exacerbated by a FOMO-driven need to try almost every new vendor who came recommended... These days I've got my three preferred jewellery houses and my four go-to jewellers and suppliers for non-branded creations, and I err toward buying branded to minimize my own involvement. Although as you point out - those brand premiums are often high enough to make wants wholly inaccessible!

Your philosophy of wearing at least one piece that was crafted with individuality and creativity is enchantingly romantic, I love this and I'll be borrowing it  I've made some - small, admittedly - progress with Willingness To Mix & Match this week.

My visit to the boutique yielded some helpful discoveries. I've been looking for a ring to wear with my (mauve) Folie bracelet but I don't love the matching ring. I thought the pink sapphire Two Butterfly might work nicely - well, it does on the right person with the right complexion, and that person is not me! In the right lighting it was lovely, but turn ninety degrees the wrong way and those pinks became unforgivingly muddy and lifeless - it was shockingly volatile on me. Beautiful on my SA though. I think this colourway needs pink skin. I did like the yellow but I have no need for it - so all in all saved myself a nice chunk of change!

My SA had a much better recommendation: The Fleurette ring. I've not paid much attention to this line; joke's on me, this ring is perfection. The wishlist scope creep continues.

Newest additions came as a surprise.

Y'all know me and necklaces... I'm glad to have the set, because it's a set, and I like having sets, and goodness knows I'm unlikely to have another opportunity to buy only the Other Half in future, but still, it's a necklace!

So no mod shots because I'm still trying to figure out how to actually wear a necklace without itching to rip it off within seconds. My machinations thus far with clips and pins haven’t worked well and my SA has helpfully suggested I wrap it round the wrist five or six times  We'll see. Worst case, it joins the cadre of other sparklies that come out to play on the bedspread every so often. And as I tell all of those pieces - there are worse fates

I had the bracelet shortened by four double links and the necklace extended to the max - I don't recall if that's 2" or 3", but they added a double link between each of the ten motifs closest to the clasp and left the spacing on other ten as-is.

Couple of the bracelet motifs have these very faint striations... They glisten in direct sunlight, like very light sunstone schiller. The necklace's motifs are all clear and to be honest I prefer the bracelet. Pretty sure that's the opposite of what most people want in clear quartz though!

The Duo ring! I forgot. That’s a newer addition too. Mine’s sized for either index finger or thumb - it’s a *powerful look* ring, not dainty at all. And it fits huge (it’s slightly convex) so size down!!

Hi Yssie!!
I am just gazing at all the finery you just posted and enjoying each piece. Are the necklace and bracelet clear? I have never seen that before.. is it something new?

It’s a bit unusual to see people appreciating both guilloche and pave, isn’t it? I feel like they’re often considered somewhat interchangeable. True, both are bold and eye-catching, but they’re so different!! I wonder how you’ll choose between your magic pave and these

Another win for your painstakingly curated collection m-2-b!! And your SA was lovely to make sure you received a brand new pair, if anyone will keep them pristine it’s you!!

 :appl:

What an eye dropping VCA haul, @yssie !!! So rare to see any rock crystal VCA pieces being offered--you are a definite VCA VVIP!

We must meet up for a GTG again in the future so I can admire all of your new pieces! :kiss2:

Trying to be a bit more low key these days--can we even call guilloche more low key than pave, lol?!

Just wish there was something to order from VCA w/out an excessively long waitlist or production time!

You and @m-2-b are queens of collection curation!!

And your personal styles are so, different - it’s so interesting! Where she goes high-contrast you go soft, where she goes commanding you go delicate… You’ve both defined your styles so precisely, and you’re both so good about only choosing pieces that complement them, and the results both ways are collections that are ready for print

Congratulations on your beautiful new ring! ❤️ I’ve got it in YG and it’s such an easy-to-wear worry-free piece.

I got my first VCA piece in one of the Chicago boutiques! That was… OMG. 2012. A full bag of bagels of years ago. Why did I go there.

Wore this combo this weekend and I just love it.

Oh. This is STUNNING. Wow, Tonks.

Your bangle is the PERFECT neutral  I still don’t understand how a bangle with that much oomph manages to be such an ever-flattering neutral. You and Briony nailed it!!

Gorgeous!! Only thing that needs to change is your photo background - I like your weightlifting action pics best!

Hi Yssie!!
I am just gazing at all the finery you just posted and enjoying each piece. Are the necklace and bracelet clear? I have never seen that before.. is it something new?
I just love it!!!

Hi Rubies! Thank you!! It’s rock crystal - a heritage stone that VCA reintroduced in more accessible fashion for the 50th Alhambra anniversary.

The L’Ecole held a wonderful talk about the history of crystal in jewellery late last year - here’s a recording if you’re interested! I hadn’t realized how prized the material used to be, that it was once considered a conduit to the heavens… I don’t imagine my new pieces are going to give me any such gifts in 2024 but hey one can dream

Thanks for the link.. I shall definitely listen to it.

Um. Lol. No. Lol.

Ugh. No kidding. Our group meetup would have gobs more inventory than most boutiques.

It’ll be interesting to see if inventory actually improves in a couple years once the new workshops are open and new staff are trained… Or if artificial scarcity will be too profitable to relax on… On the upside I imagine the SO queue will reopen, maybe they’ll approve hellebore with pietersite

The Fleurette ring. I've not paid much attention to this line; joke's on me, this ring is perfection.

The Fleurette is so stunning on you!! I really love it.

I am still waiting for my yellow sapphire/diamond butterfly earrings to come in, and I am not typically a butterfly person, so I am glad that you liked that set more. I felt like the yellow made it more playful/modern and less feminine than the pink (and I don't have a super feminine style).

Congrats on your new pieces! Simply stunning. I picked up a few of the limited stone offerings last week, so I am doubly happy for you and share in your joy! I am laughing because we are like two sides of a coin. You wanted the bracelet and had to buy get the necklace with it, I wanted the necklace and had to get the bracelet with it! I already had some RC bracelets (from back when they were actually available to purchase) but I am a necklace person and not a bracelet person at all, so I am already planning ways to make the necklace even longer with the bracelets (like the length of the long magic 16 motif). I also got PS 20 motif necklace with the advocacy of a friend (she wanted the bracelet and I wanted the necklace), but this was all within 2 days + the items I was already planning to purchase, so my previous wishlist is on the back burner for awhile now.

That being said, the onyx RDN is still really calling me.

It's so funny because I keep saying I have enough Alhambra/I am done with Alhambra, but then it always turns out I am not. Even if it is popular on social media, it is a historic symbol and has a rich history within the brand, so I can justify.

Missie! I love this comment so much. Missie, do you see this, my friend!? So Missie and I are the best of online friends, we know each other very well from "the other forum" and our love of turquoise, rare stones, GMOP, and we have the same birthday if you can believe that! So you just made me smile so much when I saw that! She will love it also when she visits here. In fact I have another window open on my computer to go to next, and it is to reply to her on the other forum!

Congrats on your new pieces. I am so thrilled for you.

@yssie We both also know P——-, I really enjoy talking with her, but I don’t know her name on this forum, can you tag her or DM me her name here please? You know, I think one of the major reasons I ended up getting the yellow sapphire butterfly earring set is because I’m obsessed with her mother’s discontinued green butterfly necklace! It’s so stunning in the photos she has shared!!

Hey friend, Im loving the new additions. The ring is definitely you and so versatile. I love love the RC pieces. I can’t wait to see you style them. Yssie thanks for the compliment and I’m going to do better and check in here more. It’s so funny as I definitely know @NeciaKH. The two of you are my go to’s whenever I'm trying to make a serious jewelry decision. You both are so nice and your willingness to guide me as I build out my collection has been amazing journey that I look forward to. A shared love of jewelry has lead to great meeting great new friends.
