Show us your Cabs!

I adore cabs! Don’t have many unset ones, but here are a few favs in jewelry. In translucent cabs, the glow is captivating, and in opaque ones, the feeling of the stone is captured so well. I dont know if they also go under cabs? Sometimes when I find nicely shaped highly alluvial rough, eyeclean and of well saturated color I just polish the surface or let them even be unpolished. Like in those two examples. Ruby just polished, sapphire (still) virginaly untouched as nature had laid him in the gravels. The ruby usually would be heated to let the blue zones disappear. There are many blue lines in different thikness ordered to something look like a pine tree. All lines are ordered in ">>>>" such a way.

I'd call them skin-polished cabs!

Here are my contribution, only the Ruby is set (bought as a ring over 40 years ago, unknown origin or spec, over 2ct in weight is all I could remember), all the others are still loose:

Amethyst and Tourmaline from Gary, going to be set as an open end ring with a small diamond around each stone eventually:

Rubies jelly dots picked up from a jewellery show in HK in 2011:

An Lightening Ridge Opal Doublet:

A set of Rubies given to me by my mum, allegedly Burmese:

Don't really know what to do with the set of 6 Rubies, I am likely to set them in a pendant or a Gypsy set cocktail ring.

DK :))

I forgot my cat's eye moonstone from Brad:

@Lexililac Thank you for indulging me! Those are so cool! :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: nature is so amazing!

@dk168 your jellybean rubies:kiss2::kiss2::kiss2::kiss2:...necklace for sure! or maybe even a bracelet??? Not sure if you wear bracelets or not.

I have several opals that I apparently lost pictures to and the weather is not behaving (its very dark here with lots of storms) I will try to get some pictures of these today/tomorrow.

@Arcadian the set of six small Ruby cabs is likely to be set as a pendant or a brooch, as I don't really like to wear CSs on my wrist.

DK :))

Hi everyone, long time lurker but thought I would try jumping in to share some of my loose cabs. 20200525_114303.jpg

Hi and welcome! what are we looking at?

Hi and welcome! what are we looking at?
Thank you! The pear cuts are ammonite, labradorite, and amethyst. The smaller pear cab is tanzanite. The teeny tiny blue oval and round ones are hauyne.

The ovals are Australian opal, emerald, amazonite, quartz with strawberry colored inclusions, moonstone, welo opals, ammonite, lab sapphire, and cantera opals.

The round ones are opals, rainbow moonstone, star sapphire (the grey one), moonstone, and larimar.

@Stormyday Welcome to PS! You have a lovely really varied collection! :mrgreen2:

@Bluegemz I just had to comment on this - beautiful!! It reminds me of Buccellati's Opera line (which I adore!) ::)
