Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

no one bought it so I was forced to do it myself. Not sure if it’s a steal but it ticks the boxes for a couple future project ideas…

2 - 5.5 mm and 14 - 3 mm OEC stones.

Realllllly pretty. I have not settled on a setting for Willie yet so of course another project is exactly what I need. (Eye roll). Not sure if I’m keeping or not.

I was eyeing it, but so glad you grabbed it! How are the stones?

Including tax it was $2000. Probably not a steal but I’m hoping I can scrap the 10 grams of 18k for $400.

Unfortunately, the pearl may be a fair piece of that 10 g, but let us know what the final scrap weight is when you sell it. Regardless, once you get anything for the scrap, if the stones are nice and well matched, you got a really good price!

@lala646 have you received your eBay ring yet?

Oh yes, I hadn’t considered the pearl weight.

The 2 larger diamonds are a good match. Both very white and bright, eye clean and I don’t see anything in the loupe either. Not cut as well as my larger stone with the petal pattern but very sparkly, plenty of fire and no nail heads. One of the tables is slightly off center. I might pause before putting it in a 3 stone but for earrings, bracelet, necklace or even a smaller ring, I think they’re perfect.

The 3 mm are all eye lean and sparkly.

Dreamer_d is a good salesperson and I’m pretty happy with it after her comments. Would have been happier with $400 scrap. Hah. Will let you know and post more pics if I decide to send it back! IMG_3149.jpeg

Yummy! Not cheap, but it seems a good price for that diamond…

I think I've posted this ring at least twice on other threads. It had a pretty make!

Those are gorgeous 5.5mm stones. I wouldn’t hesitate personally to out them as side stones in an important ring. I don’t seek “perfection” in my old ladies anymore.

I think I read that 50,000 clicks (or some number) without purchase, triggers a sale price.

Wouldn’t the person consigning the item have to approve a markdown though?

Question for everyone - does TRR ever price at or below gold pricing? I have my eye on a very heavy chain and have been waiting for the price to come down a bit. It’s currently at 1.2x scrap gold value, which is over $5k. It’s a minor want so I’m ok with waiting a bit to see what happens.

Yes. But the starting price of a piece seems to determine the owner’s willingness to sell at scrap value. I’ve not seem the initial price come down more than 20% ish. I think if you want market value price, you should stalk initial eg “new” postings not wait for a sale. The really good prices on gold go very quickly.

Just my experience others may vary.

Agreed.

And as mreader said, it’s been my experience that discounts on large jewelry items need to be approved. I’ve consigned lower value handbags and clothes that went 20 percent off with out approval. Maybe the 50,000 clicks applies there.

@LightBright @vitona526 thank you both for weighing in. At 20% off I’d buy it. It’s currently at 5% off. I can watch it a bit more.

This is a gorgeous ring with very nicely cut OECs, each about 5.5mm. Size 8. You cannot replicate this setting for anywhere near this price! I hope someone buys it.

This went fast. Great find @Dreamer_D

Wow I hope it was one of us so we can see more photos! If I had a money tree it would have been mine.

@Dreamer_D i bought it! Jigsaw puzzle New Year party with the kids was starting so I didn’t update you. I’m having a no buy / ban island 2025. Thought I’d squeeze in one more purchase before saying goodbye to 2024. Hah.

I’ll let you know when it comes and you can always count on me to post pics!

Weirdly it didn’t get flagged for authentication so hopefully it’s a legit seller!

Are you talking about this one? If so, yes, legit seller. I bought a ring from them a few years back and it came as described, and when I had the center stone GIA graded, seller's estimate for ct weight, color and clarity was right on target.
