Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

This will be swiped by a vendor. Or it will be swiped.
Price for this is exceptional imo. French Platinum Art Deco. Exceptional all around.

Oh wow! If they accepted returns I would buy it, I’ve been loosely looking for an old cut bracelet. I love it…but always feel wary of no returns. Ugh. Great find!

That price was incredible! It will absolutely show up with a reseller. :cry2:

I’m going to think about that bracelet for a while. I had messaged the seller (who responded quickly about the mm of the stones) and it was in my cart…ugh I just had to press buy. Who cares about returns?!? Lol. That one will linger in my head :cry2:

Honestly I would care about the returns haha. It's a big purchase to buy sight unseen with no return.

Yeah… I just lost out on a “seemingly perfect for me” pair of Dormeuses from France at a fraction of the price of what they will be flipped for. I didn’t buy it when I saw it.

But it’s interesting to me that incredible deals DO keep popping up. That’s the great thing about antique jewelry: really special pieces come on the market all the time and antique jewelry is almost always put back into the market. IMO there’s no scarcity in really nice pieces, you just have to educate yourself, wait for the good prices, know what you want and be ready to buy immediately.

Still makes me sad I can’t rescue and cherish EVERYTHING I find. Haha

This is the voice of reason I needed to hear today! Thank you! I was feeling sad about having passed on that bracelet…

100% which is why I didn’t buy it! Too many unknowns. I’m looking for something “in memory” so to speak of my grandma who passed last year at almost 103 so a 1920s bracelet spoke to me…plus she loved all things fancy! But I was unsure of the weight of the platinum and just in general couldn’t justify spending that much with no returns! As @LightBright said something else will pop up (with returns!).

So this lovely that was posted a few pages back may be heading my way :) A sales associate sent me a pic of the markings in the ring-does anyone recognize the makers mark or have any guesses on who it might be?

OMG, YESSSS!!! I hope you love it, and can't wait to see it on your hand!

Enlighten me - I don't recognize the mark.

Sorry, I was just really excited someone got the ring!!! I absolutely love it! I tried searching the mark and came up empty.

Oh, OK. I misinterpreted! I thought your big and yes and OMG referred to knowing the maker

Thanks-it will be fun to see in person!

I’ve looked in all the usual places to try and figure out who the maker is and have come up empty handed.

@LightBright I hear you. For us it's love.

We want pictures!! I adore earrings

I cannot give words to how much I love this mounting. Enamel in perfect condition. Engraved Nov. 30th 1862. Will hold an 8mm stone. The catch is it's a size 4.5 and is not sizeable due to the inscription. Can you imagine a spectacular old cut in there?? Will someone please rescue it and give it the loving home it so truly deserves?

I love that! If only it were my size. My OEC is 8mm and I still have it in a temporary setting.

Shut up… I’m not a YG fan but for this one, I might consider it plus it would go beautifully with all the black yoga pants that have overtaken in my closet :lol-2:

I’m a 4.75.
I current don’t have a penny to my name right now though, lol!

Yes, Excellent news, I hope they are totally as awesome as they look (the prong style reminds me of Missy’s Ginger and Maryanne early Victorian prong design). I hope they are similarly dreamy. If you sell, please list them here and of course tag me, haha.

Here’s Missy’s lovely early Victorian (French earrings). Not same Dormeuses style as yours but possibly similar prong style?

Not everyone’s cup of tea but similar materials:

Another enamel piece from the 1880s from England. It’s Scottish Banded Agate with black enamel and tiny decorative rose cuts and pearls. I love French designs from this period but English design looking quite beautiful, and like early Arts and Crafts, eg Mackintosh. Using these semi precious indigenous stones and organic motifs. Damaged, but really interesting.

It’s so cool! Though I’m a little nervous those prongs would need work before it could hold a new stone and I don’t trust any local jewelers to know how to work with enamel

This is exactly my concern - amazing setting but the setting will need new prongs and working with enamel is not something most jewelers are comfortable with and it can be expensive. I love the setting though, so unique.

Big, glowy and a pretty clear gum drop of an emerald.

Beautiful craftsmanship and weighty.

Lovely carre cuts with a bit of a retro vibe to the setting.

She has a nice light red fluoro, but that also showed two areas near the dome of the stone close to the setting that I am thinking are resin because they fluoresce white and are by some small surface reaching inclusions. She did not come certified.

Love all the views of her except face down, the setting looks very masculine.

So I am a bit torn!
