Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone!

Beau-wy on eBay just listed some beauties.....

This may not be everyone's "thing" but I love these Tourmalines that are brown-pink/bronze. They are just so different..I love how you get so many different looks at tones and such...Not to mention, Beau's pricing is very much less than what I've seen comparable stones go for like this, and the cutting looks really nice. He has a few of them, but this one grabbed me the most. This stone is 2.24ct, and measures 9x5x7.5.He's only asking $80... I have almost an exact match already (from beau) otherwise....

The second stone looks like a nice Tsavorite in a medium color. This is a nice bargain for someone, at $200, for .98ct, This stone is another oval at 6.5x5.4. Beau describes it as nicer than picture, and that its eyeclean-- but the sugar inclusions make the stone glow. Someone needs to buy this before I do. I cannot be buying any stones right now, LOL...

I agree the tourm is pretty, but sorry Chris and Beau, I don't think that tsavorite is a great deal. It looks pretty cloudy and is not very saturated at all. I can't tell about the cut since its on an angle. I believe someone would be better off buying one of Tan's tsavorites. Again, sorry :(sad

Hey, you're entitled to your opinion, of course...have you seen the prices of Tsavs lately? Obviously this isn't a top stone...but this is only $200/ct with good color, and seller states eyeclean. It isn't a windowed, shallow pancake either which is usually all I find in the low-price range of Tsavs.

Tans stuff is hit or miss...at least with me.. But, we all have our vendors we prefer :)

Chris,
I know you are fussy about the cut but I see cut issues on the tsav. I also disagree that it has good colour as the saturation is just average. Tan has some amazing deals on tsavorites too if you have a good eye and patience.

This caught my eye on Ed Bristol's site. Mozambique tourm -- good saturation, almost a pad color & I like the cutting. (The dark background isn't real helpful.) 3.39 ct & $1980 -- wish I had the cash to at least take an IRL look.

Guys, I never said it was a top Tsav...but its $200 LOL, how could it be a top Tsav? I thought it had good bang for the buck for an entry level stone, thats all.

That Ed B stone is similar to the on I posted...except the one I posted comes with a $1900 discount, lol. Yes, this one is probably cut better, and is larger...but that price is atrocious. I am sorry, but I would never, ever, ever ever spend that kind of money on a Tourmaline that didn't have "chrome, Paraiba, or Cuprian" in front of it.

I put the last one in there for you, LD :naughty: :nono:

JF, I see too much brown to call it a Pad color...to me it is a pinkish-orange brown, or a brownish-pinkish-orange

JewelFreak, I think we are drawn to the same gemstones :) I've had this bookmarked for a few weeks I think. Like you, I thought the color seemed pad-like, but it's more than I want to pay for a tourmaline. My green tourm that I recently posted (from Gem Art Services) is much larger and was much less than this.

Yes, that is lovely, but you'll pay for it - its 2.32 carats and $885.

If its not already gone, another great one from Gene 2.46 ct tanzanite, about $850

Very expensive for a mere tourmaline. This is pricing more in line with a sapphire.

That tanzanite is breathtaking! Way out of my budget, but really lovely color especially for an unheated stone. A glitch on the site had it labeled as $0.00 at first. I would have snatched it up if it were free. :twirl:

That Demantoid is stunning...too small for me, or I'd be all over it..

The demantoid looks like a winner, but like Chris said too small. The sapphire looks to be very dark.

Put it into the appropriately sized antique setting and the demantoid will look right at home.

If only it is 1mm bigger!

I have an unheated tanzanite from Gene that was my first big gem purchase. I am sure this one is gorgeous!

Here is mine:

Here is a candidate for today's SGBTS

1.58ct unheated sapphire $299 from Tan on ebay

Item number: 251177005343

Wow, Erini, that is gorgeous! Do you have it set?

Minou--

The only stones I have set are my engagement ring from my husband and the mahenge I bought from you preset

Its easier to justify spending on stones than on settings, isn't it? :nono:

that is definitely true. Also easier to "hide" my purchases in a gem box than on my finger 8)

Erin, thats a great stone...I usually don't care for the unheated ones as much, but that looks pretty nicely saturated. Do you see the green component at all? It looks like it has great purple and blue and I love the checkered crown.

OTL, The pic looks nice but whats with that weird thing on the bottom of the stone in the video?

No idea, I attached a snapshot of the video. For the size and color I think the stone should have a little flaw.

I would ask Tan about that.

A nice little pair of Tsavorites from Jeff Davies. At 4mm they are small, but they would make some nice stud earrings for someone.

A bit small for studs but good candidates for side stones.

Jewel freak lovely tourmaline. That color is so pretty but with my coloring they seem to get lost.rats!

Xiriah that red one has such sparkle...i wish i liked that shape more.

I like this color and it's incredibly sparkly on the video. Less so in pic as the inclusions are noticeable. Seems like a good price for a 1.46 SI demantoid $4951_91.jpg
