Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone!

I recently bought a Demantoid from Jeff, I think mine was cut from the same rough. Beautiful green in some lighting, olive in others, so definitely not a top green. The cut is fantastic. I made an offer which he accepted and the price ending up being very good. And no, I'm not a shill.

Here's mine... The dispersion on these are a lot of fun.

Is there a link you want to connect us to, or are you referring to a stone in this thread? If so, you might want to link to it so we know which one... :))

I like this color and it's incredibly sparkly on the video. Less so in pic as the inclusions are noticeable. Seems like a good price for a 1.46 SI demantoid $4951_91.jpg

Wordie: I think you've been gone for a while, cause I already posted that stone in this thread - back on page 11! Hah, that's pretty funny! Not only that, but if you do a search for OTL's postings, she bought it and another from Jeff and there are lots more photos that she took of both stones (thank you OTL). Based on the fact that its still available, I'd say she returned it...But I agree, from that photo, I thought it would have great dispersion and good color for a good price.

Brilliance,
I backtracked a few pages and did not see any green tourmaline; there's tsavorites, diamonds and demantoids though.

Oops, thanks MinousB, I'll have to look at postings. It came up on new listings.

Ooh, Wordie, I hope I didn't sound snotty; I certainly didn't mean to! I was actually thinking that great minds think alike, and that if you were truly interested, you could search for OTL's thread and see some other great pics...

Not at all! MinousB, want to keep our info up to date.

Speaking of which: pretty violet sapphire in Gary Finewaters new drop

I did see it and wondered how light it is. Looking at the profile view, it was barely coloured.

Wordie, you and I have similar tastes! I definitely think that for the price, that lavender sapphire is a worth a look:

Note that it is as deep as it is wide, which means it will face up smaller than other gems of similar weight. But it also means, if Chrono is right that its very light in color, that the weight may add a little more intensity to the color.

Hehehe, MinousB....great minds!

Colourlovr, will that pretty blue green stone be lighter since its photographed on a dark background? Let's ask Chrono, shell know :appl:

This is what the ad says "The pictures have only been cropped, but were taken in sunlight. This stone will appear a bit darker than the photos in most indoor lighting conditions." which is why I said it will probably be too dark.

I know, I know, which is why its only $80 - but that color! That photo! I luuuurve it! Plus, people should know more about Bob's work.

The sunlight picture is quite dim, so it ought to brighten up outdoors. In general, tourmalines do a bit worse indoors and this one will darken a bit then. You can say that this picture is neither the best of worst picture taken of the tourmaline.

This Citrine from Congo, Africa is  :lickout:
Link: http://gemartservices.com/stones.php?id=cit008
Whoever gets it, pleeeeeeeeaaasee post tons of IRL shots ;))

I wanna! Looks just like a spessartite and the faceting is just amazing. Pendant stone, you think? 14 mm is a bit large for a ring stone.

That citrine is Amaaaaaazing!!! One note of caution: look at the color of the dime, its a leeetle bit yellower than normal...

I really think someone should get that citrine, but expect it to be a tad less yellow IRL - still knockdown gorgeous, just probably not so intensely colored.

technofacet is offering a 3ct Tanga garnet on ebay
$75 for a 3ct precision cut with nice color, I think it is a good buy.

It looks like it will be very dark IRL... :blackeye:

I dunno marymm, it looks pretty gray to me...having said that, I love gray stones, so it very much appeals to me.

Thanks for the input, I'd suppose it might be dark...

I'm totally feeling the gray these days too. So if you are thinking about the fact that you may be hoarding a few too many of them, well then... :lickout: :saint:

Though ordinarily not a big heart fan, I am just loving this Montana heart cut by Jerry Newman... 3.22ct and untreated - $2.5K - if I had the moola I would so want to see this in person - based on the pic looks like a beautiful combo of blues and maybe just a hint of gray if at all?

Crikey that's seriously grey! I don't think it will be dark but the grey swamps the blue. If anybody likes grey then this is a great find but somebody looking for a blue stone will just see a cold looking gem.

Yeah, I thought other people would see a lot more gray in that heart stone than I do... still, based on the description and the fact that Jerry cut it, I'd love a chance to see it in person!

I think Blaze'n'gems pictures tend to be a little desaturated, so I definitely wouldn't let it stop me (if I wanted a heart shaped stone)!

I was about to say something similar - most of their photos are greyish and very poor quality.

Does anyone like heart shaped stones? I'm going to re-phrase that, does anyone prefer heart shaped stones over other cuts?
