Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone!

this thread is very dangerous to anyone trying to not spend money... but i love it

Wow, Loving, that stone looks surreal, like a bursting star, or a sea anemone, or, or... :cheeky:

That really does look a stunning orange!

I have to ask...did anyone here get that lovely rubellite tourmaline cab from Barry's drop? Just hoping we might see it pop up in a setting :))

hmmmm, I guess it really depends on what one has eaten.

VL - love your eye in general, but I haven't even been able to convince myself to look at the stone. Anything with this well-intentioned but horrifying descriptor doesn't go in my collection!

You shouldn't have to eat your cake to have it too!

Ah....maybe my monitor isn't calibrated right for orange or something but the Roger Dery spessartite shows some browning to me. The RH garnet is more of the reddish variety and is very pretty in its own right. It is definitely a different flavour but at that price? Given the choice, I'd rather the reddish orange spessartite but not the $13K price tag. Of course, it's very uncommon to see an orange garnet of over 12 carats!

Yes, I did notice that too - every time I loaded the picture, don't know why, but it kept degrading the saturation, resulting in a brown modifier. I believe I said that if someone were interested, they should contact Roger and ask questions about the saturation, among other things. Please don't hold me responsible for my good intentions; if in the process of transferring the photo, I inadvertently desaturated it, I am sorry! But just in case I did that, I would contact Roger and ask the question... =)

Anyone looking for a silky pink sapphire with some amazing fluorescence or a large aqua with fine colour could do worse than checking out these DB posts... Don't know much about aqua prices, but I've seen a couple of similar sapphires priced around double this one!

Gasp! Oh if only I had the disposable income right now I'd be on that aquamarine ring  It is divine.

The baguette aqua is certainly tempting...imagine it with side baguette diamonds with the same NS orientation, just shorter.

cleverly concealed window

Are you talking about the TGT stone, Vapid? I doesn't leap-out at me in the picture, although I guess I can see a sort-of lighter area in the middle. Is it one of those windows like in a shallow ruby, where its just a lighter area, but not completely transparent? Its a shame if it is windowed...I thought someone mentioned in another thread that it was sold anyway...

Maybe there is just one facet I can see through too...hmmmm

I am loving baguettes lately. There is just something about them!!!! So that Aqua is talking to me and I love it.

I'm loving this one, if I didn't already have one with near identical stats and appearance, I'd be all over it. It's a great cushion shape and I like how even the saturation is, no big chunks of colorlessness.

Good find, justginger! That's absolutely gorgeous, perfect clarity and a great cut to go with that nice even color. Now to find $8500 so I can make it my own.....

I've noticed that Leibish has sold a large number of IF clarity, cushion yellow diamonds over the last year or two - perfect for canary yellow engagement rings.

This is mine: http://www.fancydiamonds.net/view_diamonds/5705.htm -- 4 points smaller, but a spread of a whole mm bigger in each direction.

MUST get the money saved to have it set by RDG!

WOW, yours is even better! The increased spread is great, but I love that the color's a little more lively - the available one looks just a touch golden in comparison. :appl:

Isn't it always the case that the nice ones are already sold? Eh, it belongs to JustGinger? Nice buy!

The one I posed the photo of is still available, Chrono - the second link I provided was the one I bought last year, just to show that there are a few 1 ct IF FIYs being sold by Leibish. :))

Wow is right!! Next time I have a spare $235,000 I'll make sure I jump on that one. LOL. Man, can you imagine the type of jewels we would all have in our collections if price was no object?? Man!! You could buy a very nice house or condo for that! Or, a Ferrari (and a Range Rover for the crappy days).

It's perfect man ring size too. :naughty:

But does it compare to looking at THESE every day
