Not digging anything.
Seriously. Not the spinel, not the blue tourms...nothing.

They''re calling your name Chrono
Apparently it''s a new cut design for lower RI materials, so I bet these babies sparkle like crazy!
That spess has amazing colour, but yes, I find the inclusion rather distracting. Well, most PSers know I can''t handle eye visible inclusions in any gemstone.Date: 5/7/2009 10:58:45 PM

Yes, and Gene is cheaper for grossulars as well. I actually prefer a little green in my yellow grossulars and that one doesn''t have it. It has a brown secondary, which is less valuable.
However, the spessartite has nice color. Too bad it''s riddled with inclusions.

It''s difficult to convince the pocketbook to open wide in tough times like today.

That morganite is definitely way way overpriced for that greyish pink color with no saturation. I''m sorry, I have to be blunt.
If interested, I''d ask for more pictures. I thought you were looking for something over 2 ct?Date: 5/7/2009 11:26:16 PM

Chrono, what do you think about the tsavorite?
Yes, very eye clean from all angles. I like that it has a slight blue undertone. I''m not sure how important that is to Cind though. Jeff''s tsavorite looks to be a pure green.Date: 5/7/2009 11:45:38 PM

Chrono,
Isn''t your stone totally clean as well?
Yes, you''re right. I am. That''s why I''m not really going to consider it. I was just curious what you thought about it.Date: 5/7/2009 11:31:40 PM

Chrono, what do you think about the tsavorite?
Yes, I saw it. It''s really lovely. I am envious. Are you going to set it? I got derailed on my tsavorite hunt temporarily when I bought the Richard Homer spess that I didn''t care for and sent back.Date: 5/7/2009 11:44:31 PM

I purchased it from Swala for less than what Jeff is asking for the 1.8 ct tsavorite and mine''s a 2.15ct square cushion.

I wish the rhodolite was just a little lighter. I love the cut and the size. But for the price.. that color just average. Rick Martin has a pretty decent pink spinel up with nice cutting for 200, kinda puts things in perspective. Gene''s cuts lovely gems.
OMG, shoot me now...what a steal! OK, I know nothing about tsav pricing, but I love your stone.Date: 5/7/2009 11:44:31 PM

To be fair though, I read that there is a 30% premium for round tsavorites because the rough does not lend itself to that shape.Date: 5/8/2009 3:30:42 AM

Pads (or should I say pad pricing) must have me a little cuckoo. I''m looking at these stones and thinking, wow, these are reasonable!

Vallejo916 has some untreated ones, and although he doesn't proport to sell the most top gem material in the world, they're well cut and at prices I can handle. I guess Jeff's stone is around $111/ct, but it is larger. However Morganite is not rare in larger sizes. The tough thing about Morganite is finding one in a deep pink color, and one that doesn't fade (many are treated and then fade). I think Barry sometimes gets them in as well.Date: 5/8/2009 6:40:09 AM

Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the prices are a little high - these are a little out of my league. I've been looking for a morganite for awhile, but I'm not loving the color on this one, either.

Thanks TL, I did notice that one. He''s just finished cutting a 9mm cushion for me (he said it was a new cut for him), and I''m really anxious to see it.
