No worries Ellen -- I TOTALLY got it and completely agree!

And hopefully this will get filed under the "hard lessons learned -- WITH A REFUND" folder, LOL.

I am sending good vibes for a hassle free refund.

Is it possible to have a very pleasant yet totally miserable conversation all at the same time???

The jeweler just called me. He was the absolutely courteous and pleasant person that he always is and stuck to the facts of the issue nicely.

He had reviewed my e-mail and said that absolutely everything I say in the message is correct and he cannot disput it one bit. (The message BTW was a simple chronicaling of all the things that have occured to this point with my ring.)

The setter's opinion of the discolored stones is that they were like that from the beginning. THAT IS SIMPLY NOT THE CASE. The jeweler has told me several times that he did not see the disclored melee at the time he inspected the ring when it originally came in, and I certainly did not see them when I accepted the ring the first time. He has asked that Kelege be given the opportunity to replace the melee. The local setter, by the way, said he wouldn't touch the piece. (If only he'd had that stance in the first place when the stone was being set, but that is water under the bridge.)

Long story short, I get the feeling that the jeweler *will* give me a refund if I truly push this. I told him that regardless of how perfectly the ring ends up being I have a negative emotional reaction to it at this point. But, in an effort to be fair and to not cut off my nose to spite my face (it IS a beautiful piece and I don't really want to have to start over unless I truly feel there is no other good option) what I have asked is to pick it up today and wear it for 24 hours and see how I feel about it before making any decisions about shipping it off or doing anything further to it (or not).

I will get it at lunchtime and will post pics tonight. Unfortunately they won't be very good because I'll only have artifical lighting to work with, but I'll do the best I can. Hopefully you all will be willing to weigh in on what you think of it compared to the original version.

I know you feel negatively about it now - but there's always a way to spin it... if you love the ring, you can always wear it as a reminder that kind negotiations can end in all parties being satisfied :)

ETA: First of all you should just set up your christmas tree again... hahaha... however that made me think - you have PHOTOS of it before it was sent off ie proof that the stones weren't discolored....

well dee jay, I''m glad the conversation went well, however uncomfortable it may have seemd. I think that is a good plan to bring it home and see how you feel about it after having it back for a day. I just went to a local store and they had your JK ring (with a princess) and it really is so fabulous. His stuff is so wonderful and delicate and then I left that section b/c his settings are more than my diamond

Oh Dee Jay, I hope you love the ring and everything will work out for you. I''m glad the talk with the jeweler went *well* (I guess well is relative in this case). I have to say, I can''t wait for the pics...

I have the ring back and now that I''ve had a chance to examine it closely I have to say that it looks SO much better with the lowered center stone. I am 99.9% sure that I''m going to keep it, assuming no further issues arise and that the turn around from Kelege is FAST. When I picked it up today for it''s "test run" I asked the jeweler how long it would take if I did decide to do that and he said, "Well, when I send him *this*... " and he whipped out a copy of my e-mail along with my original list of things to address, he didn''t think it would take very long at all, LOL.

BTW, the jeweler has an absolutely gorgeous pendant in the case. It is a round stone in a halo dropped form a bezel step princess turned on point. I asked to see it and the jewler laughed and said at least I''m consistent -- it''s also a Kelege

hi dj!

i think it is great that you and your jeweler have managed to keep a pleasant working relationship even during this stressful situation. i think it will pay off in the long run.

i hope that you will love it and the corrections will be speedy. i will be waiting to see the pretty pictures!

I''m glad you think it looks so much better, and think it sounds promising to get these issues resolved!

DeeJay, I really am glad to hear you may actually like it enough to keep it. Just don''t settle, ok? For this much hassle and moolah, you should love every single thing about it.

Yay!!!! That''s great news! I''m so glad you are happy with it! Did you order the pendant???????

Whoa hungry picture monsters! Gotta get home and take ''em first, LOL.

And I do think my jeweler and I have manged to work this out in an amicable way that didn''t damage our relationship (although I will reserve final judgement for when the melee issue is finally resolved once and for all).

As for that pendant...

Yay, Dee Jay! I had a big feeling that the stone would look better set the way it is supposed to be! I do hope you love it! It is SOOOO hard to decide on a setting, as some of us here can attest, so it is certainly worth keeping if you can get the melee issue resolved!

Well I have bad news. The pictures aren''t turning out AT ALL. The macro function on my camera seems to have pooped out. I PROMISE to get some pics posted the instant this thing comes back from Kelege. Sorry to disappoint you all tonight.

DeeJay it looks so good!

Lowering the diamond made a huge difference in the profile and I really like it. Look forward to more photos.

Hot damn that thing is gorgeous. I think lowering the stone REALLY made those empty corners go away.
