This is the photo I''m talking about ..

FYI .. here''s another Kelege photo clearly showing a round stone set in a halo that is cushion shaped on the outside edge AND inside edge. "Empty Corner Syndrome" here too - just more subtle ''cause cushion to round is not AS dramatic as square to round ...

But I think it shows that this isn''t some random ERROR. It''s a legitimate design choice OFTEN used by this designer.

deco, you bring up a great point. At least knowing the setting isn''t a mistake or random would make me feel better. I can see how the ring had every design element DJ was looking for and the gaps at the corners just weren''t a big deal even when Cehra pointed them out pre-JK order. DJ, I really do hope that once you get it back and the stone is lowered and JK did the correct prongs that you will love all the wonderful things about it and those gaps will fade. It''s such a stunning peice, really it is.

Deco - EXACTLY!!! That's why I'm having a hard/impossible time asking the jeweler to take this ring back. I ordered *this* ring from *that* photo and that's what I got. I did ask the jeweler about how the finished product would look becuase I was a bit concerned over the corner in the black and white photo and he assured me that Kelege wouldn't make a setting that didn't work for the stone it was intended for, so I let it go. My bad!!!

BTW, the second ring that you posted the pic of was my runner up choice. Even though the gap looks obvious in the photo it is very subtle in person (maybe it is just not as noticeable becuase the inner part of the halo curves?). There is actually of picture of that ring on my hand, either in this thread or the one in RT.)

Anyway, I am anxiously awaiting my ring back. Once I have it in/on my hand I can make a decision about what to do with it (or not, as the case may be).

Boy, the stress of this stupid thing is amazing. I can't tell you how many times I've wished that I could just have my original 1.33 ct pear back it it's original setting and I would be happy with it right now! (Well, OK, maybe not, but you get the point... )

Gosh, lots of us can relate to setting anxiety, I''m sure!

But what I think is, the ring will be drop dead gorgeous!!! Focus on the ring as a whole and stop staring at the corners! It will be wonderful!

Deejay I agree with what you said earlier about how much we tend to scrutinize things especially when so much time and money is involved in a project. I am hoping that when you get your beautiful ring back and have a chance to wear it for a while you will learn to love and appreciate it just the way it is! By the way your sapphire ring is just lovely!!!

DS - setting anixety can drive on to drink! More!

Thanks for the nice comment about my sapphire Sundial. Just a few days ago I tried it on with my original wedding ring (the small estate ring, not my big eternity band) and they make a great set. Should have tried them together long before this!

That last picture Deco posted is gorgeous though...can hardly see the empty corner syndrome in that one and I actually prefer it because it adds visual interest and reaffirms the uniqueness of a round stone in a square setting.

I want to see the new and improved eagle landing!!

Well here is a non-update for everyone.

I just called the store and my jewler is gone for the day. I asked if *someone else* could look and see if my ring was back yet but they couldn''t locate it. There is a message for the jeweler to call me tomorrow, but I''ll be out with a client and probably won''t be able to get over there even if it is back. Plus they''re closed on Sundays.

This forum is called Show Me The Ring--WHERE IS MY RING???

(As you can see I''m getting a little pissy.. )

LOL Michelle...I''m just gettin started!!!!!!

Geez Louise--I go out for a quick dinner with the happy hubby and you all have quite the party without me! I better catch up!

Just got a call from the jeweler. Apparently the person who is going to do the milgraining doesn''t trust his safe and didn''t want to keep my piece over the weekend so it hasn''t budged yet. Hopefully it will go off on Monday, but I want a man with steady hands, so depending on how the Bears do it might be better to wait until Tuesday, LOL!

Anyway, I have just decided I''m not going to stress about this any more. It is what it is. If I like it I will wear it and if I don''t I will have it fixed or remade. I think I''ve made too much of this and I want (at some point in the foreseeable future!) to be able to move on. I have a few other projects in my back pocket and I want to be able to get on with them!!!

That is great attitude to have DeeJay! It is too easy to obsess about these things on pricescope with all of us giving you our opinions and advice!

Way to go girl. If it doesn''t work out this time maybe it just wasn''t meant to be...and then you can move on with your other fun projects!

I''m so glad you have that mind set, good for you!!!!

Great attitude Dee Jay. I''ve seen a few JK ads and now I see your ring everytime I see his ad!!

I saw some Michael Beaudry designs a few weeks ago, beautiful, but geez, so overpriced, IMHO.
The next day, I saw 2 or 3 JK rings. I still think JK has it over Beaudry!! But that''s my opinion!
I still love the little diamonds inside the basket. Gets me everytime!

Sounds like a great plan DeeJay!

OK. I have reached my limit. Gone beyond my limit actually.

The jeweler told me my ring was ready so I went over to pick it up. The milgraining that the local guy did is about 90% perfect. One fo the corners isn't absolutely precise, but I'm willing to let that go.

BUT the brown melee stones are still brown.

When my ring went back to Kelege I sent a list of four things.

#1 had to do with the shape of the halo. Kelege decided not to do anything about that, but rather to just reset my stone lower, which was #2.

#3 was to milgrain the traps.

#4 was to address the discolored melee.

So, in the course of a MONTH, all Kelege did was set my stone lower. That is problem Number One. But problem Number Two is WHY THE HELL DOESN'T THE JEWELER LOOK AT MY RING AND MAKE SURE IT'S OK BEFORE HE CALLS ME TO COME AND PICK IT UP???

At one point I snapped my mouth closed so hard my teeth clacked together because I knew if I let the words begin to escape I would not be able to stop them, and it was not going to be pretty.

And the worst part is I can't even say I'm surprised by this turn of events. Given my experience so far, this just seems par for the course to me. I am going to go to lunch now before I break something.

Oh, Dee Jay!!! I would be upset, too! And I agree, I am most upset with your jeweler who should have been on top of all this for you and acting as your advocate to get these things done right!!! No excuse for #2,3,and 4 not to be resolved.

How does the stone look set lower with redone prongs, though?

this sounds extremely frustrating! i am really sorry. i hope you figure out something that gets you where you want to be on this project. i for one would not be a happy camper either.

oh man!!!!

thats terrible...i''m surprised that you didn''t go nuts in the place...i would have blown my top right there

. what are your options now?
