All that anxiety was caused by the dumb person who set it wrong in the FIRST PLACE!!!

oh I agree, it looks 1000 times better with the stone lowered, filled those gaps right up...your ring is just sooooo breathtakingly gorgeous

Oh what a difference, looks amazing to me!!!!

Yes, yes, yes! Much better. Your ring is drop ....dead... GORGEOUS!!!!!

Oh it''s so much better. Soooooooo much better! At least you can be happy that your jeweler is being reasonable right? =)

Wow, it looks 10,000 times better.

Wow, I''ve been on mars (or on the WWT reading about muffins too much). I can''t believe I missed this.

What a ring! And the improvements are dynamite. The lower set and the milligraining were the perfect call!

Dear Lord, it''s gorgeous. I love the milgraining and the lower stone. Perfection. Now all Kelege has to do is fix the melee (I don''t recall you asking for two-tone diamond melee

) and it will be beyond perfect. Yay, Deej. I am so happy for you.

Oh wow, that is so beautiful!!!! It looks a ton better.

It looks totally different! In a GOOD way!

Now THAT''S more like it......

wow, i missed this thread too!

Dee*Jay, your new ring looks wonderful!!

Whew! I''m glad to FINALLY see how the darn stone looks LOWERED (like I''d pictured in my mind what seems like DECADES ago!!)
3.gif
Even BETTER than I could have guessed - no "empty corner syndrome" there to my eye, at least anymore!

The miligrain looks well-done too -- but, honestly, I liked the polished bezel on the traps just as much. Two different looks - equally GORGEOUS IMO .. but what''s important is how YOU want it & that YOU love it!

Hopefully you do! Take your time, let the whole darn BRICK sink in! And try to keep focused on your own gut about it so you''re happy over time (not just bowing to popular opinion). There''s always a tricky balance between seeing the forest through the trees/ baby & bathwater etc etc etc.

Whatever you decide: WOW. WOW. WOW.

MUCH Better!!! Lowering the stone helped a lot! The corners look better with the stone lowered as well.

Oh DeeJay, it looks sooooooooooo much better! What struck me the most is the side view (because that was most noticable before), that just looks stunning, the stone is right down there where it should be!

If those melee gets fixed, dare I say it, we might achieve...... ring nirvana.

I love it with the traps miligrained and the corners are full!!! Yay!!!!!

Thank you all for weighing in yet again and for the nice comments -- I feel like I've shown you guys the same ring over and over and over again to the point that you'd all be ready to strangle me by now! And yes, having the stone lowered and having better prongs makes all the difference in the world. I *could* probably find find *something* on this ring to drive myself crazy with, but I choose not to, LOL.

Deco, you're right about the polished vs. milgrained trap bezels being two different looks. I didn't mind the polished ones, but I think having them milgrained ties them in with the rest of the ring and I'm happy that I did decide to have it done.

So, off to Kelege we go (again). My plan was to take it to the jeweler at lunch but we're having a bit of a blizzard in Chicago so I'm not sure how things are going to look around noon... And I am confident that there will be a fast turn around this time, and then I can get on with my life!

I do wish I knew what was wrong with my camera though. I used to be able to choose the macro function, get right up close to something, and snap a pic. Last night I got no focus at all by starting out close up; I had to focus about 8-12 inches away and try to move in and hope that it didn't get totally blurry. It must have taken me an hour just to get those two quasi-acceptable shots that I posted.

Dee it looks so much better!

Dee Jay, I live in the Chicago area as well, and the weather is horrible today.
I wanted to ask you if you have ever been to jewelers row and what if there is a certain vendor that you recommend?
My husband has agree for me to have my setting modified and originally I was planning on having Leon do it, but if there is someone local that you know I would love to check them out. Thanks for your help!!! Lucy

Lucy - Welcome to our blizzard, LOL!

I've been to jewelers row many times (my office is just a few blocks over) and in general I would not recommend working with the street level vendors for anything other than something you see in their case and wanted to buy as-is so you know exactly what you're getting.

If you want custom work done (and I'm not entirely sure from your post if you want to have your current setting altered if you want to have an entirely new setting made) I would contact Mike Gale at 312-920-0075. He has done several pieces for me (several times along the way I have *wished* that I would have had him do THIS ring too, but there's no going back now!) and I have always been 100% pleased with the pieces and his prices.

If you're looking for a new setting and willing to buy a stock designer piece then I recommend Marshall Pierce at 29 E. Madison, 6th Floor. Ask for Jim Bern and have him bring the trays of settings that he has in the back for you to look through. Actually, even if you're not going to go with a stock designer piece, it might not be a bad idea to do that anyway just to give you the opportunity to consider a few more ideas for your own ring.

Let us know how it goes!

Great, thanks DeeJay.

I promise better pics than this when it comes back. (But at least you can see the milgrained traps in this one.)
Dee Jay - have you thought about the poor dwarves? Where are they going to work? I hope you''re prepared to offer up some unemployment or something!!! ;) (looks great!!!)

No, in fact you''re going to have to start a new thread called "the brick has landed" when it gets back and start all over with a new set of 50-60 pictures. So hurry up and fix that camera LOL!!!

I can't imagine having bad thoughts about this ring now.....ahhhhh.....its so big it looks like a swimming pool up close

Thanks for the photos. The difference is really amazing. So good of you to work nicely with the jeweler. Now I hope the last issue gets worked out to your satisfaction. The setting looks super super nice now.

DeeJay it looks fabulous. So much better with the stone lowered and the milgrain.

About the melee. I think something underneath is discolored, not the diamonds themselves. That''s exactly what the melee looked like in my ring. Be sure the design is such that when you clean your ring, there''s a place for the dirt and grime to escape out from behind the melee.

I hope everything is done very quickly and all of this becomes a memory soon. Then you can just enjoy and wear your ring. It really does look fabulous!

Dee Jay:

I''ve been following your saga and I''m so glad that everything has finally worked itself out. Now that the stone has been lowered your ring profile looks PERFECT!!!

What a gorgeous ring. All the components have finally "harmoniously converged" and the entire ring looks just right, really a beautiful piece of art!

Just one last little tweak fixing the dark stone and hopefully you can put all this behind you. It is such an outstanding ring, how could you not just absolutely love it despite the difficult journey? Your perseverance paid off, you should feel terrific that your efforts were not in vain.

Can''t wait to see pictures.... yes, lots and lots of pictures (no, you can''t ever have too many pictures, especially now that it''s just right!) so bring them on!!!

Hi Dee*Jay, I''ve been sort of following your thread and just wanted to say congratulations and I''m so relieved for you that this is working out, FINALLY! The lowered center stone makes a huge difference - the whole ring just looks more integrated now, like the stone really belongs there! You were really right to have that modification made. Hooray!

HI:

So are you lovin your new ring DeeJay? I like the changes/improvements very much!

cheers--Sharon

I love the ring now, I think it is a 100% amazing!!!!
