thank you for reminding me how fun St.L is, i''ve texted M and informed him the next time he''s able to come here we''ll drive over and spend a day in the city museum at least

Don''t die on me now, small talk!

I''ve planned like 8 weddings in my head since becoming an LIW.
20.gif

None of them will come to fruition, since I planned a bunch of big weddings.

We plan on 40 people or fewer.

lol i''m having to plan ours right now (he''s helping as much as he can). we know when and where we want to get married, it''s just a question of whether or not he ends up deployed at that times it kinda bothers me that i don''t get to do this as an officially engaged gal, but i suppose it''s kinda comforting to know it really is happening even though he hasn''t had a chance to formally ask yet.

ooo wanna plan mine
25.gif
i''m not a crowd person but since this is the only time his family and mine will be all together, and possibly the last time i''ll get to see a lot of my friends for quite awhile, it''s going to be one big ol hullabaloo if everyone who says they''re coming does

You want a big wedding Elle? I didn''t know that...

Why are you keeping it small? Cost? Family drama?

I actually don''t want a big wedding. It''s just fun to be bored at work and plan weddings for 300 people.

I prefer a small wedding. I don''t like the idea of paying tens of thousands of dollars to have a bunch of people at my wedding that I barely know.

My wedding will be parents, siblings, and close friends. That is IT.

Plus, my mom will probably pay for the whole thing, and whatever is left over will help us with buying a house.

Hahaha... I''m good at planning wedding in and around Ann Arbor, MI!

I do not want a hullabaloo. Small wedding for me!

How many people are you thinking, Squirrly?

well my mom''s one of 6, dad''s one of four, and all of their siblings are married, all but two have kids, and one of my cousins (i have 9) is married with two munchkins of her own. at least 3 of my cousins are in serious relationships, and i have some great aunts (one''s in japan so she''ll need advance notice) so family alone on my side''s pretty big. his side we''re not sure how many aunts and uncles will make it, for sure we know one set, and his mom, siblings (both married) and maternal grandparents for sure.

then there''s family friends, plus people from two colleges for me and Marines from all over the country for him, some childhood friends, people i''ve met through work...

no clue at the moment, i''d say easily 150, but a lot depends on how much advance notice we can give and deployments and such. church is the one my mom''s been an organist at for over 30 years, music- i''m a music major so i have my pick
9.gif
but a string quartet (two of the four just might play as their gift to me, if not three) and a trumpet (or two for a fanfare), i have a friend who''s a baker... detail wise i''m doing well. money wise we''ll see, M and i are paying for this ourselves

That''s a lot of people... but not overwhelmingly so.

We''re eliminating extended family because first of all... we''re not that close, second of all... FF''s mom has 8 siblings, and his dad has 9. Plus spouses and children. Yuck.

FF wants nothing more in the world than for Yo Yo Ma to play at our wedding. That is his wildest fantasy. I told him if we get married in jeans at mcdonalds, MAYBE we could afford yo yo ma, but not likely.

Boo for hullabaloo. I don''t want a big wedding. I''m sure I''ll get roped into it (BF has a big family) BUT I have two things working for me. 1) My mom reads PS and knows I want a small wedding and is very supportive of that, thank goodness, and 2) his parents got married in the pasture next to their house with just them and their officiant (in VA your officiant can count as your witness). So it''d just be his extended family that pushed for a big party. The thing is, they''re really fun. REALLY fun. Party all night, funny, fun people. And the idea of throwing a big party for just them would be fun. So my big plan: SMALL destination wedding and BIG reception in the States afterwards.

And yeah, talk about day dreaming...we''re YEARS away from this, and I spent my whole drive to work imaging cute places in his hometown for e-pics.

it wouldn''t be yo-yo but if you want a cellist then email the music department at a local college, they usually have a list of students who are willing to play weddings and will forward the message to them. rates depend on the area/people who play but a solo cello might not be that much

I wish I could have 40 people or fewer--I don''t think I could get away with having fewer than 40 people on MY side.
