My guess would be people that people and/or coworkers are often annoying as hell.

Hahaa, good guess.

They are: stupid people, leaving my friend''s house (I''m going over after work to watch the South Carolina game with her and her baby - her DH is going to the game, but she didn''t want to leave the kidlet, so we''re watching it together), coming back from lunch, and getting out of bed.
LOL, I should have done them in order, it took me awhile to work through that one.

Anyone seen Cold Mountain? FF and I watched it last night (and Monday night) gosh what a long movie, eh?

It was actually quite a downer. It made me so sad. Now I want to watch a comedy. Some sort of a pick-me-up good movie.

Dreamgirl: Cold Mountain sure is a really long, sad movie, but have you read the book? Charles Frazier is one of my favorite authors and his writing is wonderful. I enjoyed the book (even though it''s just as depressing!) so much more than the movie. His writing is really amazing.
No, I actually haven''t read the book.

Don''t know if everyone noticed, but DF is back!

I would hide some of his stuff and stage a scavenger hunt for when he gets home

lol that''s effectively what i did last visit- he got moved into a different barracks so i helped him move and i unpacked most of his stuff while he was in class

Morning ladies and happy Friday! So, I weighed myself this morning and I lost 8lbs over the past two weeks. I''m hopping that it''s a result of my better eating habits and not just "water weight". I haven''t really changed my exercise routine (not that I actually had one to begin with), but I am on active on my feet for 8-9 hours at work.

Anyway, just wanted to share since I''m super happy about this. I hope to be online later but if not, I hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend!

that''s awesome. I gained alot of the weight I lost back so I''m trying to lose again... it''s a trek!

But I''m so happy for you over that!!
and we missed ya here on these boards!

Morning!

Anyone have any suggestions for how to head off a cold/flu/bug at the pass? You know, like right when you first get that tingly sore throat feeling?

B and I are about to road trip it for the long weekend, and he wasn''t feeling great last night and now I''m starting to get a scratchy throat. I''ve been told to mix Emergen-C into Gatorade to give the immune system a nice C boost, but I was wondering if you ladies had any other tricks up your sleeves?

Echinacia (sp?) is great for warding off colds. Also lots of zinc.

Shot of whiskey? Kidding! Kinda. I swear by airborne even though they say it doesn''t work. I''ve been taking that stuff since my daughter was born and I''ve litterally only gotten her cold ONE time in 3-1/2 years!

Ladyp - Hey I was just over on the BIW (wishful thinking) thread and I saw your dress...I LOVE IT! Where did you get it and if you don''t mind me asking what did you pay?

Anyone have exciting labor day plans? It''s supposed to douche rain here in the PNW so I''m thinking we''ll be holed up baking cookies and watching movies! Although, I''ve promised my daughter a trip to the fair so hopefully we''ll get a little break in the rain!

tequila does wonders for clearing the throat, and wasabi empties nasal cavities quite efficiently

as for labor day plans, flying back home
8.gif
but as far as this weekend goes, tonight we''re going out to dinner and a musical, tomorrow a cave tour (not real spelunking though), and sunday there''s a cookout and swimming

You could use one of the nasty nettipot things. It''s like a teapot that you pour up your nose. I''m too chicken to use it, but the ILs swear by it. Otherwise, lotsa C and water!

We''re heading east to Potholes, hopefully the rain stops at the mountains!

Camping and boating in the rain doesn''t sound fun at all.

Hey winelover! Thanks for the compliment on my dress.

I got it at a local boutique here in Portland--it's a designer named Lena Medoyeff. She designs her own fabric and has it made at a fair trade silk mill in India and all the dresses are made here. It was right around $1200. I highly recommend her shop when you're shopping for a wedding dress!

Also, I agree on the whiskey. Whenever I am coming down with a cold, I make myself a hot toddy (whiskey, lemon juice, honey, hot water, cinnamon stick & cloves). It works, I swear!

I agree with Lady.....these do work and you sleep like a baby

Somebody talk some sense into me and tell me it''s ridiculous to REALLY REALLY want a masters programme even though:

a) I don''t know if I could convince BF to go to school there even thought it''s WAY cheaper
b) I don''t know if I could take the cats
c) I''m not 100% clear on what I''d do with the degree, but I know it''d be awesome.

(For the record I''m looking at the Masters in Media and Journalism Studies at Erasmus Uni in Rotterdam. It''s a one year program and tuition is only 5,000 Euro! Even with living expenses, that''s cost of a semester''s tuition of this program here.)

we might be adopting a kitten, maybe!
our friend found a little one that she has been taking care of for a week and asked us if we wanted her.
so maybe

BF and i adopted our kitty from the animal shelter 2 years ago. She was 8 weeks old. She''s now 2 and thinks shes a dog by playing fetch and "barking" in the mornings. We treat her like our child basically. I can''t imagine not having her...My vote is to go get one and he/she will love you forever!!!

goood morning everyone!! I''ve missed you all!

Work has been busy (thank goodness!) and i am either on my feet all day or busy with admin/registrations (i work at a Y).I''m hoping this constant on my feet thing will help drop a few lbs while i am at it!

VIP - great job on the staying healthy! i am hoping for the same thing. although the apple pie i had yesterday probably did not help!!

mis kitty - i suggest hot water, lemon and honey for sore throats. oh, and theraflu if you can stand it - i know most people hate the stuff, but i swear by it!

Winelover - the rain was CRAZY this weekend (i live in washington). sunday was just amazing how much it poured. quite a sight!
which fair are you talking about?

LP - the hot toddy''s sound good, except i had a BAD night becuase of those (or so i have been told...) so i stay away from that!

Squirrly - what did you get?

So, out of curiousity - is anybody going to watch Glee?

I wasn''t going to (the last thing I need is to get hooked on an over-hyped show for teenagers on FOX), but it turns out a friend of mine from HS actually works on it (and will get his first-ever on-screen credit), so I feel like I need to support him and actually watch it. It''s not like I do anything on Wednesdays, anyway.

So is there anybody that''s going to watch it, or will I be alone in my geekdom?

Morning y''all!

SQUIRRLY! BAD SQUIRRLY! DO NOT POST AND RUN!
38.gif

Jcar - Miss you too! glad work is going well though!

Princesss - I don''t even know what Glee is. I seriously must live unde a rock.
20.gif

Got back from Vegas last night! Watched my good friends get engaged at the Bellagio Fountains, and she had NO IDEA it was coming. It was probably one of the best things I''ve ever witnessed. She was in shock! Her jaw dropped and then when she realized what was going on, she started SOBBING. She kept saying "I never thought it was going to happen!" FI and I both teared up. It was great.
9.gif

It was a 5 stone gold ring with a RB center stone and a sapphire and diamond on each side of it. It was really pretty.

AWWWW! That''s so adorable, Elle!

Morning! Hope everyone had a nice long weekend. Thanks for the suggestions -- my cold is gone & we had a great time camping!

Morning chicks! Hope everyone had a great holiday!

jcarlylew - Ya the weather was nuts! Did you hear there was a tornado in Enumclaw? We went to the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe. We went Saturday and totally lucked out with the weather.

ckrickett - Ooooh I hope you get a kitty! We want pics if you do!

princess - I''m soooo going to watch Glee! I end up singing golddigger for an hour everytime I see the previews. It looks hilarious! Plus it doesn''t conflict with my Grey''s Anatomy!
