My geriatric kitty peed in/on my shoes last week. Lucky for me though my sister was nice enough to leave a note on them saying "Cola pissed here"....not nice enough to clean up the mess, but still rather considerate for her.

Not too shabby. We''ve been running boxes over every night for the past few days so that the *big* move on Saturday isn''t such a PITA. Most of Saturday should just be big furniture that we need the truck to move.

Whats new with you, B? I feel so out of the loop with you!

Trader Joes has them as a seasonal item around Christmas, but they sell out QUICK.

I know, me too. LOL

I''ve been having a rough time lately. This whole job thing is really starting to bug me. Not only that, but yesterday I found out that my BIG boss (who I don''t really work with - she''s at a different campus) is not going to support a request I made to get my tuition taxes waived. At my school if you''re able to show that courses you''re taking are relevant to your work, the school will pay the taxes on them. That is basically $2000 that they already deducted from my paychecks over the course of three months. My boss said my classes were relevant and helped me write up the memos, but then my big boss said it was stretching and she ''didn''t feel comfortable.'' I''m really upset because she essentially said, in not so many words, that I''m just an admin with no hopes of professional development in my current job. Nevermind that my boss is trying to introduce me to people in HR/OD so that I can sort of learn the ropes. When I mentioned that to my big boss, she goes, ''is that going to leave you time for your work at the office?''

I am so done here. But then I cant be done because no one calls me back for jobs. It''s so frustrating!

sorry for the vent.

Aww sweetie I''m sorry.

Being an admin sucks. No one takes you seriously. They all think you''re in the job because you''ll never do anything better, and not maybe because you''re just trying to get through school. I catch the same crap. The lawyers at my office think I''m so beneath them because I''m not a lawyer. It''s frustrating.

I''m not getting call-backs either. It is such a crushing blow to your self-esteem. I had that 2nd interview last week and they said they''d know by the end of the day, and they just never called me back. I''m sorry, but if you''re in for a second interview, and they''re deciding between you and one other person, they should let you know either way! How rude! I wasn''t even sure I wanted the job, but seriously?? LAME! I think I dodged a bullet with that company.

I was listening on NPR the other day and they were basically saying the job outlook sucks. There is just no end in sight.

I can''t believe they won''t help pay for you to move up. What in the hell is the point of tuition assistance if you don''t want to help??? UGH! I''d be so MAD if I were you!

Any progress on the wedding planning front? I haven''t heard anything in a bit!

Morning CK!

How''s it going?

Morning, ladies.

Elle & Bia -- I feel ya on the job search stress. I''ve been in limbo for the past 3 weeks with that non-profit. They sound so enthusiastic when I''m on the phone, telling me that they want me in for another round of interviews, but then they don''t get back to me with details about when that round is. I''m still looking elsewhere, because I just can''t pin my hopes on this one happening.

Ughhhh. That would drive me crazy being strung along like that!!! How insensitive!

Well, if I''m going to be miserable about my job search, at least I''m in good company!

It''s really frustrating. I mean if I can''t get a job with a Master''s degree (practically) then what the hell am I supposed to do? I liked my job just fine because I''m not treated like an admin here, but to hear my big boss say those things to me really $%&^ing p*ssed me off! Not only that, but it''s making my job less tolerable now. I hate the feeling where you just want to break out and quit. Do you think I should speak with my boss about it or just let it go? I don''t want to put her in the middle because ultimately that''s her boss too.

morning everyone! not much time except to do a fly by post

RIP to me - i took pilates this morning, will be working (on my feet), and then will be takinga spin class today. i will die tonight.

4ever - thats too funny. E *used* to do things like that (leave notes). i fixed that habit QUICK.

Bia - sucks about the job not covering tuition

Elle - E and i did the same for the whole weekend we moved. By the way, its eaiser to replace new items from the new place to the OLD apartment, rather than clean drip pans forever :P

I feel your pain MK. It is rude to not let a candidate know one way or the other - poor people are literally waiting by the phone! I know I have...

Elle I listen to NPR too and recently I heard some woman read her essay on-air about companies not having the decency to acknowledge/call back teenagers that have recently applied for jobs. In this case it's kids applying for their first jobs/internships/whatever but IT IS SO TRUE! Fine, send me a mass generated email when I apply for a job, but if you're going to interview me, AT LEAST have the decency to let me know I was not one of the chosen candidates.

I'd be furious too. But to at least be called back would be something

. You guys have that over me.

Honestly... I''m not sure Bia. I tend to be a.. eh... well... a wimp. I hate rocking the boat in my job, especially when the market is so crappy.

I know the backbone-oriented PSers will tell you to push for it, and I''d love to be able to tell you that, but I know I wouldn''t do it myself.

*kisses* Miss you, jcar!

I havent had an exercise class in a while. I want to take Bikram yoga, but its expensive. A friend of mine is teaching Zumba starting in a few weeks, but I''m so uncoordinated that I''m scared to take it.

Last time I moved, J and I threw out 2 TVs and a DVD player because we were too lazy to move them. My, how the economy has changed.

Morning everyone!!

Oh that sucks Bia--I totally understand the impulse not to rock the boat.. but maybe another way to look at your boss'' role is to see her as your advocate. I mean, you are a part of her team and if she wants to keep her team happy and growing (read treat her team as adults), then I don''t think it''s stepping over the line to say something to her. You don''t have to demand that she do what you want, but you can tell her that the lack of support undermines your motivation...maybe if you can suggest an improved argument about why they should pay framed within a "good for the team" sort of thing? I don''t know if that would help, but I think I would give it a try, even if the result is only that your boss knows she''s allowed you to be undermined in your professional development.

I wish I could tell you all where I work, we''re hiring in places.

**Job dust to everyone though**

Some jobs stink. Job searching is worse. (at least that is what I keep telling myself). I work for two of the most uptight, penny-pinching, old fashioned, self centered...... Anyway, I have to remind myself too often that I can''t just quit on the spot. Bills have to be paid. Study. Look for another job. And then quit.

Bia -- you might talk with your boss. It is possible that he/she could discuss that with the big boss. Of course if the big boss is anything like mine it won''t do any good. But it never hurts to ask. (nicely of course)

I''m in admin too. (technically hired to be the tech. person but after I got started I discovered that they HATE computers and think that people aren''t going to use them much longer anyway -- headed back to pen & paper.) It took me 3 years before any of the clients would talk to me. Even about paperwork. They still treat me like some stupid no nothing. My bosses turn pale when I mention that I will be taking classes fall quarter. (online at my own expense in my "free time" at home)
Admin jobs stink. (okay, a bit strong but they aren''t for me) But they are the best for being able to take classes while still working.

The caramels are in Newcastle? Yummmm. I work in downtown Bellevue. (about 1/2 block away from Overlake) I''ll have to stop after work one of these days.

TP you''re in the area too?? Dude, we definitely need a PNW GTG! There''s you, Jcar, winelover, Sparkalicious, me, and LP is down in Portland. Ha!

Been here forever. Snohomish, Lake Stevens, Redmond, and now living in Sammamish. (okay, so forever is only 24 years but that is forever for me)

Not too hot (usually), not too cold, great wine shop down the road, lots of trees....
How much more perfect could it get?
