BG -- How are you doing?!??!!!!

You made it without going (completely :cheeky: ) crazy! Congratulations again!

Oh..... Word of warning: Sparkly rings are dangerous --
Watch out for walls leaping out while you stare at sparklies while walking, don't use anything sharp for at least a week, and NEVER LOOK AT THE SPARKLY WHILE DRIVING.

Princess: Thank you for your congrats again. You're so sweet!

Jessie: I was hoping you would see my annoucement yesterday. Oh well! My FI (weird saying that...) was asking me about you during dinner yesterday. I always tell him I'm talking to you on PS. He's like "Is Jessie702, you know the girl you always talk to online, still single?" I'm like.. "wow.. you remember her name? well.. she is now.. but.. she'll probably be engaged soon!!!" See Jessie... even my FI cares about you. You get LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of dust from the both of us, ok? *HUG*

Too: I'm doing fine. I wish I have more time to spend with my FI though. He was working all through the weekend. That was fine for me though. He has lots to do before his 2 weeks vacation. We can celebrate our engagement in Hawaii. :appl: We told everyone that we're engaged within a day. :D

I couldn't sleep on Saturday night. Maybe I was too excited and too hot here. The thing is, I couldn't even sleep the night before. I don't know why. So... yesterday I was soooooooooooooooooooo tired. I'm not used to wearing this ring around. 1ct looks big on my hand and it sparkles so much. My FI couldn't believe how sparkle it is. (better not show it to my FMIL ) I'm kinda afriad that I'm showing it off. I'm sure I'll get used to it though. Yesterday my FI was working at my house. I was just sitting there admiring my diamond. Then I decided to "twist" it a little bit to see if it's secure. I saw it moved a little. :errrr: Then I hold onto the ring and tap it... I can hear some sound. It's not that loose that it will fall out, but I'm going to call my jeweller. I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Thanks ladies for all the support. I love you all!

Hey BG, congrats again!!! Don't you love just staring at your ring? And can you believe that your wait is over?

When do you start to tackle wedding planning? Please keep posting here, I'm sure everyone wants to hear about it!

Awww. Im sorry i missed it yesturday. SO and i were ust being lazy around the house. I cant believe you FI, remebers my name. Thanks for the dust, hopefully i works soon. Kinda of hoping ill be off the list this weekend, but we shall see. Its not the greatest month. Imagine how much more fun your vacation will be. Now you can take some wedding magazines with you on the plane and not feel weird!!!

Jessie -- How is your move and stuff going?

I got a B on my final --- and an A in the class.
Our livingroom lights are up and working. (need to get additional fixtures for the track later, but it is a start)
I've got 2 bags of clothes ready to donate.

FI wants to do the lights in the office and guest room next weekend.

Hey Too-. Im happy you got the lights up.

Im still packing  ..im doing it on purpose. Im trying to hold out with moving in with him till he proposes. I dont like being forced into moving in with him, my mom hasnt mentioned me moving, im not bring it up until she says something. Ill be all packed, but im not until we want to or until he is forcing me out, by having everything in the garage. Bad i know, but i dont want to be forced. Blah....

Congrats also on our A in the class. I start class next week, and possibly cooking school too. The cooking school is a local thing, and its only 2000, for 2 semesters and they help you find a job when your done. Im looking into start it so i can get out of my current job, and make more money while going to school, but ill see.

Too: GOOD JOB! I'm proud of you!!!

Jessie: Your b-day is coming up, rite? I hope he'll propose soon.

Cali: I'm just so excited for everything. No plan for the wedding yet. However, everyone asked about the date.

Jessie, cooking school sounds so interesting! My bf has been asking me to take cooking classes for years since my only skill is calling for carryouts. I don't think I could do it, I always follow recipes exactly and the food never tastes good. I bet your bf will love you being able to cook, haha.

Hey Too! I'm Cali and I've been hanging around here anxiously waiting for my proposal... When are you expecting your bf to end your wait and do you have a ring picked out? I'd love to see it!

This week my goal is to choose a wedding date and book the flights. Any suggestions welcome! We have to take a redeye on either a Tuesday or Wednesday, so the wedding needs to be Fri, Sat or Sun. I'm thinking an odd month, either May or July, would sound better with 2011, but that's about as far as I've gotten. Maybe 5/20/11 or 7/9/11? Ugh, I don't know...

bg-*****HUGS**** Yep. My birthday is saturday. He keeps saying he'll work half a day so im not alone, but the wya my month has been im like"no, its okay" Blah, im to not get my hopes up. Saturday we are gonna do dinner and go out dancing, and than sunday he wants to do a bbq/swim party. I dont want to do anything, but hide under the covers and eat pizza all day.

Cali- i love to cook. I actually want to go for baking, i love to bake. SO, loves when i cook, ill look at a reciepe, change a few things, and its like magic. I will admit, im ust too lazy to cook. Like last night we were going cook lasnga, and i was like, o no, thats gonna taake too long. So instead we had turkey sandwiches and salad. LoL..than he feed me ice cream :D  . Was yummy....he got chocolate fudge brownie ice cream. Took him 5 minutes to pick it out.

Bg- I say you take some wedding magazines with you ont he plane.LoL

Cali- Maybe go for the wedding in may. As bad as this sounds, i dont think the date 7/9/11 is good...too close to 9/11....

Hi Cali :wavey:

FI proposed on my b-day this year (March 5th) I posted some pics of my rings a few pages back (in this thread) but I need to get some better pics.
Be careful booking flights this early. Take a look over in BWW to see what some of the ladies have been doing. We picked 08/21/2011 for our wedding (there is a whole thread in BWW about how I got to that date) with 08/28/2011 as the 2nd choice. We aren't hugely attached to the date. What we care about most is the venu -- so if the venu is booked already on 8/21, no big thing, we shift to 8/28.
If the date isn't hugely important to you (I know some women select special anniversaries and stuff), you might select a few possibilities and then look into venus/photographers/etc.

My order of planning:

select a couple of dates (I determined by weather, holiday schedule, school schedule)
estimate number of guests (this affects venue selection, and all sorts of budget stuff)
look at venues (done this, we have a prefered venu that we will hopefully be giving a deposit in a couple of weeks)
find photographer (good ones can book up really early -- I've got a few I'll call as soon as we give venu deposit)
look at caterers (our venue has a chef that prepares meals so I don't have to find one)

After that, the rest is a bit less important to us and a lot less critical of time (mostly) so we'll fit the rest around the stuff that matters most to us -- good venue, great food, great pictures.

Don't let them rush you...
As soon as you pick a date they'll start with "Do you know where you're having it?" "Maybe you could have it ____" "Do you have your dress yet?".........

Enjoy your engagement.
(and if you haven't done it already, you should look at stuff and get an idea of what YOU want for your wedding before everyone else steps in with suggestions -- I'm lucky so far, but BWW is full of horror stories)

Jessie --

Cooking classes sound so fun!
Are you registered yet or just thinking about it? What kind of baking?

Its just for cooking. I would love to go into baking, but for the price, ill do professional cooking. The program is actually really short, but they have of placement with some of the casino's here. Im pretty much signed up, all that is left is pay, and im trying to find someone to sponser me, so i wont have to pay any expenses. Im gonna talk to my SO about it tonight and what is could possibly mean for us money wise.
Side note....SO keeps saying he's broke, but i dont know what from...lol.

Better be sparklies :naughty:

I love cooking & baking. That sounds great -- especially since they've got a program to place you when you finish.

Thanks for the advice Too! I'll have to hunt down your e-ring pics when I'm done cleaning. But congrats on your engagement :appl:.

Our situation is a little atypical, though. We are actually eloping in Bora Bora and the resort we are staying at has like 10 different beach options, so I don't think we'll have a problem getting the date and location we want. I've already spoken to them and they are very wide open. But I do have to book the flight, like now, since we're using miles and they only let a few people use miles on these really expensive flights plus we want specific seats. Our anniversary is in January and we don't have any special dates in the summer, so I can really choose any date I want. It's just that the weather is best from May-August and I'd rather get married sooner than later... But I do want a date that sounds nice considering I have free reign.

Oh geez Jessie, I didn't even think about that date sounding like 9/11. That is how clueless I am... I need to have a few options in case the airline is difficult, but I think that one is out!

So this past weekend I was bored and tried to make a red velvet cake from scratch. Never tried it before, but I followed the recipe exactly. Aaaaand, it was dry and disgusting. I basically just ate the (canned) frosting. I wish I could bake better, I love dessert! I see that your class is just for general cooking, but would you consider training to be a pastry chef? If you love baking, that would probably be something you'd really enjoy, plus you get to be really creative. I don't know if that's even an option, but just an idea.

Excatly!!!!

Im still gonna talk to my SO about it, since ill also be going to regular college at the SAME TIME....that the heck is wrong with me :?:

Cali- o, i love red velvet. I have a funny story. I made a red velvet from his mom's reciepe book. He was missing her since it was close to christmas. Well i get through the cake without any issues, get the the icing, and i cant firgure out why it wasnt comming together right. Well, its becuase she forgot to add the grocery list CREAM CHEESE! I had forgot it. It was so bad, i was having a break down about not being able to make a simple icing, SO thought it was the funniest thing :nono: . He couldnt stop giggling at me, and i had icing on my face. He finally went to the store to buy some icing, :(( .He ate the cake though, he still giggles whenever i mention making a cake. :errrr: :nono:
Did you make the cake out of a box or did you do the whole flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, vingear thing. What i find is to add a tad bit more butter and buttermilk. You have to fight the vingear and baking soda, so a bit more milk helps make it more moist.

i want to make an ice cream cake, but SO wont let me. He says by the time i buy all the stuff and make it, it would be cheaper and easier to ust go buy it. :nono: . Maybe ill make a baby one for myself for saturday. :lickout: . Its not like hes gonna miss that ice cream :naughty: .

Cali,

Sounds wonderful! Are you having any family there or just the 2 of you?

In that case, pick a date that works for the two of you + airlines (since you're using miles) + beach you like. May is a nice month to get married (and is a lot sooner than July :)) )

I'd be serving store-bought foods for dinner until he appologizes...

Of course I'm crabby this week :nono: (as was made very clear when I told FI he could shove a track up his a** -- talk about shocked look... I never talk that way)

Heading out....

See you ladies tomorrow :wavey:

o wow. Yeah, you dont seem like you would be crabby. I sowry....

i agree with Too. May is a nice month, not too hot. I say whichever day gives you the best rates, is the one you go with. Using miles is also a good idea, saves on the cost.

Also, please post info on what you guys are thinking. Since i cant plan my own and i can enoy others sparklies...hehe :) ;)

See you later Too :wavey:

OMG.. It's so hot here. I don't feel like doing anything lol.

Jessie: we get to celebrate your b-day online before I leave for Hawaii.. How cool is that...

Speaking of cream cheese, I have 3 packs at home.

BG- ill trade you " Hot"...lol....and i was actually standing outside today in the heat

HaHa...we do. I still cant believe your going for 9 days. Hvae you packed yet. Im a travel freak and always pack too much and too far in advance. SO does too, but he leaves his suitcase in the spare room so the doggies do freak out.

Headed out for the day. Talk to you ladies tommorow...BG keep us posted ont he status of the loose diamond!

Ugh, I'm too indecisive to choose a date. None of them sound good with "11," I quit.

Jessie, I actually did the whole making from scratch thing. I think I just don't have the natural talent for it. And it's so discouraging when nothing I make is edible.

I can't believe you're going to take cooking classes while you're also in college! You must be awfully good at time management because I know there is no way I could've done that when I was in college. Good for you though, it sounds like a great opportunity especially with the placement program.

Oh, and you should totally make whatever cake you want - it's your birthday, not his. I haven't had an ice cream cake in so long, but they are oh so good.

How's the engaged life BG? I agree with Jessie, you definitely need to get some wedding magazines for your trip. That would be so fun on the flight!

Jessie: I will let u know about the ring. I'm actually going for 7 days. Why did I come up with 9 days?

Cali: engaged life is good. Pretty much the day. I wish I get to see my FI more. That's why I'm getting excited to spend 7 whole days with him, just the two of us. My FI still haven't told his parents. He said they know 'cuz he went with his mom to take the ring out. BUT STILL!!! You know what I mean? I want him to tell them we're OFFICIALLY engaged.

That is kind of weird, why hasn't he told his parents yet? It's kinda sorta a big deal, ya know?

Is your FI just really busy with work? I think his timing worked perfectly because now you get to spend your whole vacation basking in your newly engaged bliss. Have you booked an excursions yet or are you just going to figure it out when you get there?

The thing is... my FI (I kept on typing bf and I'm like.. wait a minute...) is not THAT close to his parents. Even though they live together, he doesn't tell them stuff. He didn't tell his parents he has a gf when we were first dating. He said his mom knows. His parents never really ask anyways. He said they know because he told them he's going to propose. Since he got the ring out with his mom, he thinks his parents know it's given that we're engaged. His mom doesn't even know what an e-ring is. She kept on asking if I need to get my FI one. See... his mom doesn't know anything. I wish his parents can show more excitement. However, my FI said they never show excitement about anything. It's not like they don't like me. They just don't show any emotion. I love his dad. He's so cute. I don't know how I feel about his mom now ever since that weird diamond earrings moment. OH WELL!

YES!!! I'm very excited about this!!!

That's a tough one. From my perspective, if it's important to you, then it should be important to him and he should just suck it up and make the phone call (or visit). But if you're ok with and understand his reasoning, then you could just let it lie. I guess it depends on how strongly you feel about it. Personally, while I am hardly fond of my bf's parents, I would be hurt if he didn't actually call to them we were engaged. I see it as officially announcing, "we are in this forever, and you are important enough to tell."

So has your FI mentioned anything about taking the ring on the trip? I'd be sad to leave it behind if I were you, you're just getting used to it :naughty:.
