Jessie - your babies are so cute! That's great that you can keep an eye on Keno while you're at work, I bet that will help him heal so much faster.

And I really like the two-toned rings, it gives them a more unique look and they will definitely match all your jewelry. I think it's so awesome that your bf can pick out your ring himself. I would love that extra element of surprise, but there is no way I would trust my bf's taste or style. And you must be doubly excited that you will get engaged and then get to live with your SO! How much longer do you think he's going to wait? And do you think he definitely has the ring?

Beezy - which islands are going to in Hawaii? I went there at the end of last year and it was so much fun, you're going to have a great time! Do you think he might bring the ring along and then propose on the last night, so you can go home engaged but not worry about wearing the ring at the beach? That would be such a great story .

I'm going to the big island, Oahu. I don't think he'll propose there. I know him, he will not bring an expensive ring across the border. If he does, he would have to declare that in Canada first. nah! He won't go through the trouble. A proposal on the beach would be so romantic though.

Cali- heres the thing, i was told sometime this year, so i have no idea. I do trust his style because we know each other so well, he wont pick something out that i dont love. I really wish he would ask during our trip either Next month or the following. Im praying he doesnt wait until christmas, espically since he has to work. Blah.

We could so do a nice dinner too. My SO works for a local gaming company. He is in the route department( Meaning 24 hours department) He pretty much orders all the parts for the games in the city, and local towns close by. I really wish he could go back in to avation which is were all his knowlegde is. He would make like double the money and be higher up.

Where are you guys going on trips in the coming months? Are they romantic or outdoorsy trips? I love the idea of being proposed to on vacation, but unfortunately my bf has fears of transporting the ring overseas...

You're going to the two islands I didn't go to, haha. I went to Maui and Kauai, but I heard great things about the Big Island and Oahu. Be sure to post all the details when you get back, I love hearing about island trips since they're my favorite.

ETA - omg, I know it's big. And it actually faces up really big (Leon and the appraiser thought it looked like 3ct). When I received it, I posted on here asking if it was honestly too big for an engagement ring. I'm kind of worried it will look ridiculous, but I'm stuck with it...

Yeah, those don't sound like romantic trips, but Florida can be really nice near the beach. You never know...

Hawaii is like a whole other world. All I could think about Kauai was that I was in Jurassic Park. Seriously, it looked exactly like it with lush, green mountains and waterfalls. Maui is stereotypical Hawaii with the pretty beaches, swaying palm trees, awesome surfing and boogie boarding. It was also so relaxed there, I just love islands...

I'm currently in Scottsdale and super excited to flee. Not a fan of the weather or people here. Since we don't have anything tying us to AZ anymore, we decided to move to Denver to be close to the skiing (we kept flying there in the winter) and because I love the climate. I need some seasons!

Nope, Oahu and the Big Island are different. The Big Island is the actual island of Hawaii and Oahu is a bit north. So I assume you're going to Oahu... I'm pretty sure that is the most popular island and it has the most to do, so I'm sure it will be great. How long are you going for?

I do have a pic, let me find it. I ordered a ring size 5.5, but I think I'm actually a 5.25. Oops.

Nothing is wrong with Seasons. Been to Denver, was very pretty. I went there in March and there was still snow. Very green there.

O wow, it sounds so lovely there. I would love to see that. Ive never been to Orlando, we went to Miami and it was so pretty. Much more humid than what im use to, but still nice. we missed our flight and ended staying another day.


O, i wanna see pics. I feel like i have such big fingers, but they are just pudgy. It sucks.

I don't know if I've ever been to Orlando proper, but I've been to some of the beaches nearby. If you have the time, you could definitely take a day trip to either coast. Oddly, I've only ever had layovers in Miami and I've never been outside the airport. I want to go, but then again I want to go everywhere .

My hands are kind of creepy. I'm really really tall so of course I have really long fingers, which gives me the appearance of skeleton hands. They're actually bigger than most guys. And let me tell you, that is not something a lot of guys find amusing.

I think it's always better to have the fingers we don't have lol. I posted a pic in my previous post, you can kind of see my gangly fingers there. It's not the greatest pic, but it's nice to look at when I miss my diamond. I had it for about a week and I loved to play with it, which drove my bf nuts since he thought I'd damage it somehow.

We're at just over 6.5 years and since we've been living together for a long time now, I already feel like we're married. I don't know what would change, but I'm still excited for it.

Thanks for the compliments on the rock. Jessie, the stats are 2.66ct H SI1 and I couldn't be happier with the way it looks. The appraiser said it's a high H and that the inclusions are good since they are white (it's perfectly eye clean to me, and I've looked hard). I just love it .

BG, I can't even imagine what 4.25 fingers would like. I'm sure I've read about it before, but what does your stone and ring look like? I bet you can get some awesome finger coverage with such tiny fingers.

You're not very far behind me in the relationship length, which makes me feel a bit better. Everyone we know that's married or engaged has been together for less time than us so they always look at us like we're weird. I just wasn't in a hurry to get married until one day I realized it's getting a little ridiculous to call my SO my "boyfriend" because that did not do our relationship justice. He was very excited that I changed my mind about marriage since he's wanted to lock me up for awhile, haha.

I always thought my fingers are short and fat. I always see people with LONG LONG SKINNY fingers. I envied people with long fingers then they get to play the piano better? I guess it doesn't matter. I've heard that real pianists have short fingers. Mine are made to play the piano I guess. The grass is always greener on the other side. So funny, one time we went to a jewellery store looking for an e-ring, the guy there said my fingers are long and skinny. My bf and I looked at each other. After we left, he's like "your fingers are so not long and skinny... we can't trust him..." That's the same guy who was trying to sell us a H&A diamond that has NO hearts and arrows. Hello? We're not stupid.

Cali: I forgot to tell you that I'm going to Hawaii for 8 days or so. My bf is glad my finger is small because 1 carat gives me a very good coverage. (some ladies have 2.5 size finger on PS. Now THAT'S small) Plus, my Tacori setting is a high setting, which makes the diamond stands out more, even MORE coverage!!! My setting is this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/since1910/4192928015/ with a 1.007 ct AGS H&A Triple Ideal G VS1 diamond. It has a tiny feather at the bottom under 40x. If it's not because of that feather, it would be a VVS. We were looking at SI range before. However, we're both VERY VERY picky with the inclusion. I guess we have good eyes. I didn't want to go anything lower than a G. If we're not so picky, I could probably get a bigger diamond in the SI/I range. I wouldn't mind getting a 2.66ct like yours though. However, that might look weird on my 4.25 finger. I can't wait to see your ring!!! 2.66ct that looks like a 3ct. OMG!!!! I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO want to see it NOW!!!!

BG - I'm so jealous of your trip, 8 days in Hawaii sounds perfect right now! Have you started looking at activities yet? I know that when I went, it was a lot cheaper to book online and in advance so that's something you might consider.

That is going to be one blingtastic ring . I'm a little like you in that I was worried about inclusions because I could always spot them at mall jewelry stores, but I think I just got lucky with this one. I could only see some of the white crystals through a loupe and even after I knew where they were located, I still couldn't see them with just my eyes. There also weren't very many choices that were 2.5-2.8cts and ideal cut, so I'm happy.

Do you plan on upgrading or is this a forever stone? I bet that size is going to look so good on your hand and with all that sparkle, it's going to be divine.

I don't think I'll want to upgrade. I want to wear the ring my bf proposed to me with forever. My bf DOESN'T at all want an upgrade OF COURSE!!! hmm.. I wondered why.. Well, it doesn't mean he can't get me diamond studs, diamond pendants, or diamond bracelets. I always wanted 1 carat for my e-ring. In real life, it is considered to be BIG, I guess. I'm happy he was able to get me my dream diamond/dream setting. Now I'm glad that the cut of my diamond is IDEAL IDEAL IDEAL too!!! 2.5ct IDEAL and eye-clean... that is very hard to find!!! That diamond is meant to be yours!!!

I'm very tempted to get a pair of diamond studs for myself. I bought a pair a few years ago. Ever since I found PS, I realized that my diamond studs aren't as sparkly. I can see inclusions with my naked eyes. Well, I will still wear them.. until I find something else. I was just searching for diamonds for my earrings. I don't know what size I want yet. I want something less than $1000 though. Something I can wear everyday. The pair I have right now is 0.22 total weight. Since my ear lobes are small, I can wear small diamonds.

I found on James Allen that one 0.30 ct IDEAL H&A is around $400ish, $300ish with PS discount. I guess I can afford that. I don't know if they're still too big though. 0.30ct each side. hmm... I'm ok with my e-ring being big, but I don't want my studs to be too big for my ears. I don't think that's very comfy, especially when I'm on the phone.

Studs are a very sore spot for me right now. A year and a half ago (and before PS), I got some really expensive studs from Bluenile for my birthday. They are 1.02ctw, E, VVS1 and Gia Excellent cut, but when I put them in the HCA cut advisor, they got horrible scores! They're super white obviously, but they don't have that 3D sparkle that ideal cut diamonds have and I've been pouting about them for the last few months.

Well, a couple weeks ago my bf's dad wanted to get his wife some diamond studs and he asked my bf to help. Obviously my bf knows that he can get great diamonds online and at a better price, so he commissioned me to pick out the earrings. So my FMIL got a pair of WF expert selection studs that are 1.5ctw, and she doesn't even appreciate diamonds! Needless to say, I'm super jealous and now I want a pair since hers are so much nicer and she doesn't even realize it. If I pointed out the arrows, she would be oblivious and say who cares, argh!

Anyways, I don't .3ct for each ear would be too big. I have super tiny ears and I never take out my .5cts. Definitely no problem talking on the phone, haha. And that sounds like such a good price, I'd snatch that up in a second!

I love it when a SO doesn't want his fiance to upgrade since I agree with the sentiment. Even if I got another ring, I would never get rid of my real engagement ring, it just means too much to me. However, I've actually had a few little smidges of doubt about my diamond since there is a WF ACA 2.56ct in my range, but it came up after I had already purchased mine. I think I just like looking at diamonds, though .

I don't know if you read my thread about my bf's mom with her earrings. Even though it might not be the BEST cut. She doesn't appreciate them. Read my thread "My bf is upset..." if you haven't already.

The only thing is, I don't know if I want to buy diamonds online from the states. I have to think about custom/duty. I found my e-ring diamond online, but they are located in Vancouver, so we got to see the diamond in person. My bf is never ok with buying stuff online without seeing. It was a good experience with this online place though. I might go back to them for diamond studs. Do you have ear shot of your diamond studs? If you don't mind, I would love to see them.

I read that thread and all I can say is wow... My FMIL appreciated her earrings, but she would have loved them just the same if they were terribly cut and visibly included. To her, a diamond is a diamond and all of them are nice. She's just uneducated. But your FMIL, geez, I feel horribly for your bf. He tried to do something so nice and she was just blatantly rude and ungrateful. I don't know how I would've handled it, but I probably wouldn't have been as kind or gracious as the two of you. I cannot believe what she said to your face... So did she end up keeping them or is your bf returning them for a store credit that you can use?

I just took a quick picture of my earrings on my cell phone, sorry it's not the greatest! My bf has our real camera and he's still away looking at houses. I can say this about small ears, they definitely make the earrings look bigger! When I got mine, my friends thought they were 1ct each, but they're also not really into diamonds so take that with a grain of salt.

Are any of the PS vendors in Canada? I'm not really sure how customs works, so if you bought $750 earrings from JA, how much extra would you have to pay to get them through customs?

Ugh, I'm still bitter about my FMIL. I was (half) joking to my bf that we should give her mine and I would take hers since she thinks they look the same. I guess I was a little unclear earlier by saying she didn't appreciate diamonds. I meant she doesn't understand the difference between well cut ones and crappy ones, but she definitely loved and appreciated the gift. People who don't know what's nice should not get the nice things, ok I'm doing complaining...

BG - I saw your thread about the earrings and looked them up. There are a lot of options on BGD! I know you were looking at the Ks, but you could get a pair of Js for only $85 more and then you might have a little more peace of mind about the color. Just an idea, but I do hope you find some you love! Oh, and I thought the 2.56 H&A I was eyeing was on WF but it's on BGD and no one has snatched that baby up. That just makes me sad, I think I'll keep visiting it.
