HaHa, i do say you blame the kids....why not? LoL

Well if you parents dont mind than maybe go for a bigger ct. I dont recommded like a carat or so, but if the price difference between the .30 and .50 isnt much different if you go with a lower colour and your parents dont mind, i say go for it. Espically since they are going to be your " nice" pari

Awww, well that will be fun to find out what your birthday surprise it! Sparklies are always nice :). Are you going to make your ice cream cake for the party?

BG - for a wedding gift, I think the necklace would be nice. Diamond studs are pretty, but you've already said you could get them yourself. Plus you have so many more options with the necklace to pick something more personal, I just think it fits the wedding gift better. Studs are just studs and you could get those anytime... imagine all the possibilities with a necklace.

Oh, and I just saw Jessie's response. I also don't think you need to go over .5ct for daily wear. I posted a picture of mine a few pages back, they're .51 and look pretty big. I think you also mentioned you have small ears (I have really small ones), so .30-.50 definitely won't look tiny.

Oh my gosh, you don't even want to know all the rings I'm going to get to wear with or instead of my e-ring. I told my bf tonight and he just laughed. He knows I'm nuts.

Cali- you do make sense now that you mention a necklace  More Sparklies...hmmm, the choices, the choice, its like being between a soft place and a ffluffy space. .

The thing is, you can always mix and match it up with your E-Ring...thats the fun of it being a E-ring. LoL.....

Yes, surpises are nice, until someone tells you.I might make the cake, i dunno

wedding gift can wait. we need to figure out when is our wedding date first.

ok! I'm going to buy cosmo and some wedding magazine this week. I'm going to read them on the plane!!! YEAH!!! I'm going to start packing tonight!!! I got my bikini and straw hat!!! I'm sooooo ready for Hawaii. Since I won't have my e-ring to "show" ppl that I'm a bride-to-be, I'll carry wedding magazines with me. Do you guys know any good book? I found one... "Save your marriage before it starts" . It sounds interesting!!!

I'm eating beef jerky and drinking V8. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I actually dont know of any good wedding books. I havent had a lot of freinds get married and the ones who did had a wedding planner. A cute book is Always the bridesmaid and never the bride and here comes the bride by Whitney Lyles....very cute. I think it would be good to take just a bride book. I had wished i was going to be engaged by this weekend, because there is going to be the bridal show this weekend, and i wanna go and not feel silly. Hmmm, maybe ill go for you BG and send you all the stuff. LoL

Im eaitng a vegan dinner of beans and tortillas.....actually really good, just need salt, and a tequila sunrise to deal with my mom :blackeye:

Dang you BG, i so want some beef jerky now....imm have to stop before work tommorw so i can snack at work.

Yay Hawaii!!! If you guys are beach bums, I would just bring a big ole stack of wedding magazines. Looking at dresses and decorations on the beach sounds perfect. Unfortunately, I don't know any wedding books, I only read trashy fiction.

For some reason when you were saying wedding gift, I kept thinking engagement gift. As in, you would be getting the gift from your parents very soon. I think I just have engagement on the brain.

Jessie, my bf doesn't want me to wear a wedding band with my e-ring, so I'm working out other ways of showing I'm married. That requires lots more stacking rings :naughty:.

o wow.......thats cool. I actually like wearing an engagement only and than wearing a wedding band when your not wearing it. Hmmmm, but that give you lots of options, like bands with your birthstones....

Jessie: awww... bridal show is also fun. There are a few wedding show in the fall here. FI only wants to go if they're CHEAP. I love reading self-help book. I have a book call "Why Men Don't Have a Clue and Women Always Need More Shoes" I love books like that. That's why I'm not really looking for a 'wedding' book. I just want to read something funny.

Cali: why your bf doesn't want you to wear a wedding band? Is he going to wear one? My FI was like "you can get me an expensive watch instead. :naughty: " I'm like "YOU WISH!"

Totally random, but any idea where to buy cheap moving boxes? I usually get Lowe's or Home Depot, but those get expensive quickly...

My bf is VERY excited about his ring - he already picked it out! It's platinum or titanium with a carbon fiber middle. It's not my taste, but it's definitely his...

For some reason, he hates the way two rings look together. We tried on solitaires at tiffany with every type of band and he hated them all. Since I don't want him to hate the way my e-ring looks, I'm going to wear it on my right hand and then wear some stacking eternity bands on my left. He doesn't like it, but it's the best idea I have.

Do you have to pay for the wedding shows? I have no idea what they're like or what you do there... Do you find vendors or something?

our show is cheap....only 10 bucks for 2 days, so like 5 bucks a day. I so wanna go, maybe ill go just to see :?
I wish i could get mroe out about the ring and stuff, but nope.
Try Walmart.....much cheaper than a shipping company or home Depot

at a bridal show there are lots of vendors, and some fashion shows and free stuff..

Hmm, that sounds really fun. I don't think it would be weird for you to go, you ARE getting engaged very soon and will be planning a wedding. I don't remember who said it, but there was someone else trying on dresses before getting engaged and she just said that her ring was being sized if anyone asked. No big deal.

I will send the bf off to Walmart in search of boxes, thanks!

I'm heading out, have a good night girls!

Night Cali.......wallie world if cheapest

Hmmm, maybe i go, even for one day. O, that looks like a cool book, will you have in time for your trip.

It's a 5hr flight. I am sure I have time. :twirl: I'll just bring Cosmo and that book.

I'm going to start packing today. It's annoying that we can't lock our checked in baggage when flying to the states. I'm going to drop off my ring early in the morning.

cant you get one of the TSA approved locks for you bags, yes, thats a long flight, but well worth it when you get there. :D

bed time, ill talk to you ladies later

Cali -- we got our heavy duty (for breakable stuff) boxes at Home Depot but for the rest of our stuff (clothes, books, etc.) we just used the boxes we were given for free at different stores. If you go in the morning and ask, they'll have a bunch of empty boxes that they give away. (they're usually pretty clean and very sturdy)

BG -- Great looking book. Should make the long flight a bit nicer. What are you going to read on your return flight?
How is your ring today? Fitting better? (I'm sure it fits fine, you've just got a bunch of things working together to swell your hands right now)

Jessie -- Go to the show! There's nothing wrong with getting a head start in planning. Your bf should thank you for being so organized and planning ahead since you'll be able to save a lot of money that way (can purchase sooner, know what prices to expect, ability to negotiate, ability to purchase from sales instead of last minute...). So, really, you are just being responsible and prepared

So tired...
I did not want to get up this morning. Miserable cramps have got me today and I just wanted to stay curled up in the warm bed.
But here I am.... at work.... again.

Oh well.
My RAMI is coming home from warranty service today. FI took Friday as vacation again so we can sleep in and start on the lights for the office & guest room. My mom is coming to visit Friday (she's about an hour drive away) so I can fix her computer and she can give us the gift she got us while they were in Hawaii.

I found the book I needed at the bookstore yesterday. I built a computer for my grandfather last year and put Adobe Photoshop (not the super expensive professional version, his is the step down from that) on it for him. He can't figure out how to edit his pictures and is very frustrated (and hasn't told me because he doesn't want to hurt my feelings since it was a gift) so I found him a book to show him how to do stuff.

Morning Ladies

Too- its so nice of you to build your grandfather a computer and put tha ton there for himm to edit his pictures. That was smart thinking of you to buy the book for him. Does he use it much?

Im sorry asbout the cramps and not wanting to get out of bed, i felt like that, minus the cramps.

Work is so slow today, im so not making any sales and no money. Blah....Just tried calling C since we talk every morning and i just remebered he was meeting his friend for breakfast and to get the rent check.....FINALLY.

Bg- when are you going to get your book? I didnt peek, just 3 more days of non peeking...

Cali- did you get your boxes? TOO is right about trying some stores, i completely forgot about that.

He used to use the computer to edit pictures all the time -- the whole point of buying a computer to begin with (something like 8 years ago) was so he could get a digital camera. The computer I built him didn't quite do everything he wanted with his pictures so I went and got Adobe Photoshop and installed it for him. I showed him how to do the stuff he wanted but then he forgot how to do it and he doesn't have internet so he can't get to the tutorials. But he's too nice to tell me that he can't figure out how to use it so I had to hear from my mom after he's been sitting for months unable to use it... Grrrr... so sweet, but tell me next time.

Slow is no fun. You must work for commission? If so, slow is really no fun.
Busy bf's who can't talk just makes it worse :(sad

OMG!!!
3 days to your b-day!!

EEeeek. That means just 12 months to wedding day

Awwww. your grandfather sounds so sweet. Its cool he can use a digital camera, my boyfreind still has issues uploading his, he had to write down the directions

Yeah, i make commision. i have a base pay for 8 bucks, and than i make commission, but only after ive sold a certain amount, so any sales i get for the rest of the month are gonna be a wash out since i havent hit the mininal amount, which sucks.

Yep 3 More days to the bday, and 12 till your wedding. How far into planning are you? I cant wait for him to ask so i can start looking, and planning

He'll ask you soon!

I'm not terribly far in planning. I need to write our budget for the next year out so I can see exactly what we have after bills and stuff. FI is a worrier (as am I) so he wants to see in precise terms that we can manage the winery. He doesn't want to get a couple of months away and have to call the thing off (just go in and sign papers) because we couldn't pay the balance.

So, my project for today is to make a spreadsheet listing out all of our monthly (and quarterly) expenses between now and then so we can get a better idea of budget limit. We'll hopefully find out about FI's raise/bonus soon and I'm hoping that those will be nice this year and make the budget a bit easier to manage. (I don't want to do too expensive and I'm not counting on that money, but it would be nice to have them as a cushion in case the car dies again or another major appliance dies or.....)

After that I can head forward with other stuff. Need to call the Rabbi and verify he is available that day. Then deposit to venue, call photographers (I've got a few in mind) -- deposit and e-pics, get a finalized guest list, design & print STD's, start trying on dresses, do some sample centerpieces (I've got an idea in my head -- orchids in a vase surrounded in candles), taste wines and make selection (for the kosher wine, we have to find something we like that the winery is able to get through their distributor), work with the chef to create a menu, taste more wines to pair with meal courses (we are doing wine paired with dinner and NO open bar or other alcohol), find a baker to do the cake (or work with the pastry/dessert chef at the winery), select cake flavors, find/design invites, ..............

the good thing is you are about a year out, which is plenty of time. Its a good idea, you have a general idea and thoughts, and have some vendors you would like to use. I understand about being a worrier, i too am one, along with C. ( Makes life fun huh?) I guess the big part is, you already have your venue and general idea. Also, thats smart about the spreadsheet, im gonna have to do that.

Do you have any ideas about the dress you might like.

We've got the venue if the numbers work out (I'm sure they will, but you never know).

Spreadsheets are good. I'm trying to remember all of the little stuff (monthly bank fees, $2.00 subscription to CR, etc) because that adds up too.
This might be a great chance to cut the extra stuff that we don't really think about and never use (like my $4/month subscription to an online magazine that I've never read)

Do you have a date or timeframe you'd like for your wedding?

yeah, im seeing those things add up over time, which is what C says all the time  ...lol...

Actually i dont, i would like some time either in fall or early spring. The weather during those two times are so nice and comfy, wereas you come in winter and its in the 30's and 20's at night, and summer you get 110. I would perfer october or early november.

How did you come up with your date?
