The LIW Small Talk Thread

Thanks BG, ill be careful. I always drop a lot of weight the first 2 months of dieting and working out. Than in the 3rd month is when i tend to slow down to the normal amount, or more normal. Ive dropped 20lbs in 2 weeks before, without excerise. Been working on my english paper and i ahve writers block. Its so bad, i really dont know what to say. . Also, magic chili is a weight watchers chili i make at home with turkey, and lots of beean(fiber) and spicy stuff. It works wonder, and taste so yummy. Im gonna hav to make some more for next week.

So i did my first spin class, and let me tell you, THAT IS A WORKOUT!. Seriously, i didnt do all the things other people did( who have been going), but i did follow along pretty good. I was sweating like a Pig in Crap, it was dripping off my hair and forehead so bad, you would have thought someone dropped water on my head. The seats on the bikes arent comfy though, it kept hitting my pelvis bone,(which hurts so bad right now, im thinking ice might be nice), overall good workout, probabaly will get good results, i just gotta firgure out what to do about the seat. O, and also did a weight machince to help bulid some muscles on the tummy, did it last week, and was in so much pain. Did it during the week too, not as much pain. I upped the weight today, and not that sore at all. I think im getting the hang of this working out thing. O, and seeing result :D

That's cool. Where did you get the magic chili? I love spicy food. I am glad you had a good work. It's BB's bday today. She brought her home 8 years ago. My baby!

I feel the stress of planning a wedding now. My FI was telling me yesterday that my mom seems to be telling him more and more stuff that he needs to pay for according to the Chinese tradition. He kinda think my mom is making stuff up. She is not. My FI just doesn't understand the tradition. We are having a banquet here. At first we were planning a small dinner. Apparently, small dinner means a small banquet according to my parents. Let me explain. Small dinner means no dressing up, no games between the bride and the groom. However, I would want to look pretty for the night. He is ok with a banquet if this is what i want, not based on what my parents want. I love him for this. He is willing to give me what i want. When he said if a banquet in canada is what i want, we will have it, I cried out loud. I don't know why. I have been between my FI and my parents. My FI wants to plan it without my parents being involved. That means my parents might not be happy with what we plan. At first my FI said 20k for the wedding. I swear he did say that. He said he didn't. He said it's 15k. At first, my parents expected us to pay 10k for the reception in hk and my dad pays the rest. Now, it seems like we only have 5k or whatever money we have left from the wedding in Canada. I talked to my parents about the plan this morning. My mom could tell i wanted to cry. I don't want my family and my FI to hate each other because of the wedding.

I fell like crying right now. My dad is stubborn about having 100 ppl in the hk reception. My FI doesn't want to feed ppl we don't really know. I don't care, I just want peace.

Maybe you tell them that. Honestly i dont know how you are dealing with the stress of it, and i am sorry. I dont know what to tell you, besides maybe elope! :D

O, and i make the chili, i foudn the reciepe online and it works. Thanks about the workout. I gotta go finish my paper, ill try to sotp back in, and dont stress BG, it will eb okay, and you will have a wonderful wedding, just think about whats best for you and your FI

Can You send me the site of the recipe? I dunno if it's my pms or what, I am starting to freak out about the wedding. Don't get me wrong, I wish I am married to my FI already. I can't wait to start our lives together. I am just a little freaked out about the whole wedding. Good luck with the paper.

Btw, after talking to you earlier, I talked to a friend on the phone. I had to let it out. I did. I cried on the phone talking to her. I felt a lot better after. Maybe it is my pms plus stress. I will get better.

I am so sorry BG....i hate that you are alreayd this frustrated and having this many issues, since you started planning your wedding. Honestly, i dont know if i could take that stress, i would just elope, but thats me.

I am getting better. Thanks. Probably just pms. I went to check out that rose garden again with my FI. I am going to call to book the place tomorrow. Hope it is still available. It was available on wed. Once it's confirmed, i will call some marriage commissoners. After lunch, my FI had to go back to work. I was so bored. My friends are busy, some are too lazy to hang out. I went to try on some wedding dresses with my mom. It was fun. I tried on a few dresses. I love 2 of them. They are expensive though. $1000ish. Renting is 50% of the price. Oh well, Those dresses are brand name. They won't tell you what brand until you order because they don't want ppl to copy it. I am going to check out other places. I don't need brand name. I had a lot of fun today. I felt like a princess in those dresses.

Dust wanted! I am booking the venue tomorrow. Hope it is still available. I am a bit nervous. Thank you.

****Dust**** to you BG, let us know when you hear back from the venue!

I'm sorry that you're already dealing with so much wedding stress. Planning a wedding is hard enough, but when there are family pressures and expectations, I can imagine how it can all start to weigh on you. I'm sure it will all be beautiful in the end, you just have to be strong and do what you think is best throughout the whole process.

On a brighter note, what style of dresses did you like when you went shopping? Any idea of the kind of look/style you're leaning towards?

Thank Cali.

I like strapless a line style, with a little bit of a ball gown look at the bottom, but not too puffy. I like ivory over white, it suits better for my Asian skin tone. I also want the dress to have little beads or crystals on it. The two I really like today are like what I just described.

Oh oh... The one I really like has some kinda faint polka dots on the see thru top layer of the dress. You cant really see the dots unless you look really hard. Kinda unique.

OMG OMG OMG!!!

I booked the BEAUTIFUL rose garden for my wedding ceremony. I put down the deposit! OMG! I can't stop smiling!!! It is an AMAZING and GORGEOUS place for $238.56 which includes a gazebo, 50 chairs, a table and 2 chairs for signing marriage certifiate, hanging baskets, AND people to help set up and take down everything. There will be some staff members on site to direct people not to go into the garden. OMG They will have hanging baskets all around the garden and the gazebo. For the price we paid, it is PERFECT. It also includes an hour of rehearsal before the wedding. I would have paid $2000+ for just the ceremony if I didn't find this time. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY! This is a hidden gem. I guess the down side is it's 30 min away, but it's worth it.

Yay BG! I'm so glad that you got the perfect location on the perfect day! That is such a great deal too, so I can see why you're so thrilled. It sounds like it's going to be goooooorgeous.

When you said you found an a-line dress with little polka dots, did it happen to be this one? This is one of my all-time favorites, but unfortunately it doesn't really work for my wedding.

Cali: Thank you! That dress is AMAZING! However, I don't think my boobs will support that dress. The one I tried on has the same material as this one, which I love, but it has more beads/crystals than this one.

I just called around for some marriage commissioners. They are all the same price according to the government standard. Apparately, I am too early. One lady can't confirm it until Jan/Feb. The other woman is very nice. She explained everything to me VERY VERY clearly. I feel bad if I don't find her.

OMG... Congrats BG. I am so happy you were able to find your location. Also, thats a great price for everything. Honestly, for what you are getting, thats a steal. Also, sounds like you hada blast trying on dresses. I can totally understand why you want to rent. It sucks your cant book the comminisor for the wedding, but its good you are trying to plan early. That way you can make payments over a longer period of time, and not have to worry about paying everything all at once, WHICH give you more money to spend on the honeymoon. I am so happy for you bg. I cant wait for my pics. *Sigh* i wish we could plan all together at the same time.

Hi Cali, how was your weekend, technically im still on my weekend, C is napping right now, so im able to sneek on PS

BG, I don't think anyone has boobs like the model. Hers are insane. But it sounds like you found a stunning dress, got any pics? Or do you know the designer?

I did a little wedding dress investigation last night and I found out that the cheapest time to buy one (at least here in US) is during the holidays. So pretty much end of November to New Year's you can get a good deal since most people are too busy to be shopping for dresses and a lot of people are just getting engaged around that time. I'm definitely going to be shopping then since I love a good bargain.

You're so on top of your planning, you're going to be done in no time! I'm still trying to finagle a deal with the Four Seasons so hopefully that will be settled in a few days. Oh, and stupid Delta still hasn't gotten me a seat on my trip to NY. My patience is wearing thin with them. :angryfire:

Hey Jessie! :wavey:

My weekend was pretty good - we got a lot of stuff done around the house, went to a few fun restaurants/bars, and I got to watch a lot of football. Oh, and my fantasy team is doing very well so unless there is a major disaster tonight, looks like I'm going to win again this week, woot woot. I also went to yoga this morning (loved the class today) and then took my little pups for a long walk. I gotta run some errands in a bit, but all in all it's been a nice few days.

How was your weekend? Did you not have classes today?

O wow, Cali, i never knew that that was the cheapest time. Seriously, that might save a lot of people a lot of money. Im so sorry about the 4 seasons, i dont know what to say about them. Do you ahve your heart set on getting married there?

Weekend was okay, im super tired right now, C didnt sleep well last night. Also, no school today, i got Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Thanks Jessie! This week starts out pretty good already. I found my venue that means I'm really gonna get married on your b-day!!! Then, my ring should arrive this week. YEAH!!! My mom's b-day is this week too. My dad is leaving this week. (not that it's a good thing. lol)

Jessie, don't you have school today? Do you have classes everyday?

Too: where are you? You're missing out on my updates. Hope everything is fine with you.

Cali: I don't know about the dress yet. It's expensive. $1050CDN. That's my first shopping experience. I'm actually trying to spend less than $500 on a dress. I will look around for sure. I don't need it to be a designer, but I need to have "OMG THIS IS IT" kinda feeling. I just want to plan ahead of time so that I don't need to stress out later on. It seems like I'm the only one planning since my FI is so busy. I am ok with it, since I usually don't need to teach until 3:30pm anyways. I just research all the places and then discuss it with my FI. If he's ok, I'll book. That's team work, he said. I just need to search/select a place for the reception. Once my dad is in hk, he'll start planning my wedding there with my cousins. 2 receptions.... *sigh* Good that i don't need to plan the one in hk. I just have to say "yes" or "no" to stuff. I finally convinced my FI to go to the wedding show with me next month. I told him we only get one chance to go. I HAVE TO GO! It's not like we'll go to a wedding show after we are married. I'm sorry about your trip to NY. That is very stupid.

edit: hey cali, i thought you are eloping? or are you doing a reception too?

HeHe....yay for birthday wedding. Nope, just Tuesday and Thursday and Friday i go to school

Hey JESSIE! speaking of your b-day!!! You still owe us pictures of your b-day present and the ring. I think I owe you guys a picture of my b-day necklace too.

Jessie - Tues, Thurs, Fri is a pretty good schedule. Aren't you finishing up your exams this week?

So when you are engaged, you have to go dress shopping around that time. It makes a lot of sense and a bunch of articles I read all said the same thing. Maybe when I'm in NY I'll go to Kleinfeld's just for fun. FI would loooove that, haha.

BG - I'm with you in that I don't want to spend a ton on a dress you only wear for a few hours. You have plenty of time, so maybe look up when the best time to buy in Canada is? There are always deals to be had, so it doesn't hurt to hunt them out.

We are still eloping and I'm really hoping for no reception. We're not going to be planning one, but that doesn't mean FI's parents won't. If they try to, I'll be very upset since it makes me anxious to be the center of attention. To us, we're just going on an awesome vacation and having a beautiful little ceremony to confirm that we want to be together forever. No hoopla required over here.

Oh and Jessie, there really aren't too many hotel choices in Bora Bora. I'm kind of a snotty traveler and I wouldn't trust any other hotel with my wedding (besides the St. Regis), so I'm pretty much stuck with it. I've got to choose the location for the wedding, so I'll post the pics later and you guys can help me decide!

Cali: I am already nervous about making a speech on my wedding day. Do I have to? I don't do public speaking.

OMG Today is a good day. I am such a BIG fan of Grey's anatomy. The first sneak peek is OUT! I think my favourite couple is getting married on the show. OMG. ok... end of my random happy thought.

Thanks Cali, i dont like having class on friday, but its only one class, i can suffer through. Yeah, im finishing up exams this week, my english essay is due tommorow, so im working on it now, and i have a Ast exam tommorow, blah, so not ready for it. Than my Math exam is next week, for some dumb reason, the professor made it a week after we finished up all the chapters, but he isnt going to do like a review day. So stupid.

I understand being a picky traveler. I would love to see pics, since i cant plan my own, i can look at yours and BG...lol

O, i would so love to go to Klienfield just to try on dresses. Goodness, if i lived close to NYC, i would so go!

Good luck on your exam and your paper. FOCUS! You are still talking to us. tsk tsk tsk.

HeHe, im talking to you because my SO is napping, and i wont get to talk on here until thursday night..lol.....im taking my oppurnity

Good luck on your exam Jessie! And get off PS and go study!!

BG - I actually don't know how much of a speech you have to make. At a lot of the weddings I've been to, the bride OR groom has just said a thanks to everyone for coming blah blah blah. So maybe you could make your FI give it while you stand next to him smiling? Or just chime in with a few words at the end? I don't think it has to be anything long, but I can say I definitely wouldn't want to do it either.

And I love Grey's Anatomy too! I'm not watching the sneak peek, I don't want any spoilers. :D

Now I'm second guessing the Four Seasons... I just emailed the St. Regis to get more info from them. This is exactly why I couldn't plan a real wedding, I'm too indecisive.

Ok, I got some errands to run. I'll catch you gals later!

i gonna teach now. Jessie, GOOD LUCK!!! Hopefully by the time you're on here again, I'll have my ring by then. hee hee

Bye Cali!

BG and Jessie - I posted pictures of possible wedding locations in a BWW thread I started. I'm so unsure of which hotel to pick, please chime in with your opinion. I'm worried I'm going to choose the wrong one. :(sad

And of course, FI has no opinion. So annoying.

SURPRISE SURPRISE! lol. My FI is like that. That's why I do all the planning. He's always like "do you like it? as long as you like it..." He is glad I found the rose garden. I love it and he loves the price. I'm going to go to BWW RIGHT NOW!

I fixed the pics in the thread, I thought they could be clicked larger. Oops.

I'm so torn... I like both the grove at the FS and the beach at the SR. I wish I had two good options at only one hotel.

Isn't it awful having to make all the decisions? I know I have nothing compared to you, but I still have to think through bizarre little details. For example, I was imagining a ceremony with this big French Polynesian dude in traditional garb and I thought I would die if that was my wedding. So I had to email both resorts to make sure I could get an officiant to dress in real clothes. Who the heck has to think about that???

Are you good at making decisions? I always second guess myself so I end up agonizing over ridiclously small details. It's an awful personality trait to have...

I guess I don't REALLY make all the decisions. I just do all the research, call all the places to compare price, then report to my FI. Then, we decide. I tell my FI that I am very busy because I have a second job. I'll wake up and research/call places then lunch break. After lunch, I'll google some more, work on the spreadsheet or do some planning until 3ish pm. Then I'll teach from 3ish to 7ish. After dinner, I might have OT and do more research. Even though we are having a wedding and 2 receptions, I think yours is more complicated. You need to decide and pick stuff without seeing it. That's nerve racking. At least I get to see them and "enjoy" the process. I told my FI that he NEEDS to do something. We will probably pick a photographer and a wedding cake together.

Just think about this, you only get to plan this once. Even though it is stressful, it will happen once in a lifetime.

I usually make a decision based on my feeling. If I have a weird/unsure feeling about something, that means it's not good. If I feel really anxious or happy about it, then I know this is what i want. Maybe you're just a perfectionist.

I wonder if my ring will arrive tomorrow.
