Great idea. If it is more visible in pictures, that may help the dentist see what you are talking about.

That is a great idea Jessie, I'm definitely going to do that. I don't have a dentist here yet, so I just posted over in the health section if anyone can recommend one. Hopefully one of the other denver ladies can offer a referral.

I just hate to be so negative, it's really not my personality. I just need to look at more wedding dresses to cheer up.

On a more positive note, I love the idea of going to the bridal show for the cake. That reminds me, I had this horrible idea that I may still implement. I loooooove cake and I was going to take a friend (as my wedding planner) to different bakeries to try out different cakes for my "wedding." Is that awful or what? I just want free cake, yummy!

Hopefully you can find a dentist soon, that can fix that for you.

Im trying to avoid loking at wedding stuff( sorry ladies) it makes me a little sad, because i want to start planning and looking and stuff. Also, dont feel bad about going to different bakeries to taste the cakes....i so want to do that too. Im still trying to find a bridal store that gives you champenge when you try on gowns. lol....I love cake too,

Seattle: I dunno how I can wait this long. Engaged and no ring, it doesn't feel right. We have been engaged for 1.5 month. I only wore my ring for like 3 days. Sigh. I want to show it off. It should arrive this week. I can't stop thinking about it. I am ALWAYS thinking about it, like every second. Sigh. It's killing me slowly.

Cali: I am sorry about your teeth. You should definitely get ipthem fix ifbyou are not happy with them. Hope you can get them fix soon.

When I was looking at dress stuff last night I found a boutique near me that does champagne when trying on dresses. However, I think their dresses started around 2500, which is wayyyy more than I'm going to spend. I'm still debating if I might go there just for fun anyways. :lickout:

I need health insurance.

I've noticed something the last few days (been going on for months now (okay, a couple of years) but getting worse) and I'm starting to get worried. I did a search with my problem and everyone says to go see a doctor -- it could be simple (genetic, lack of vitamins) or it could be a symptom of some disease (cancer, Hodgkins(?), lupus, etc).

I've got a LOT of cancer in my family so I'm scared but I don't want to go to a doctor and have to have lots of lab work and stuff since I have no insurance yet ;(

My problem is that my legs have been super sensitive. Like if my cat walks onto my lap or FI's knee touches me in bed it hurts bad. They've also been bruising really easily and the bruises are taking a long time (weeks - months) to go away. I've never exactly healed fast, but it's gotten a lot worse and I bruise from the slightest bump now.

Sorry....
Just had to get this out there. My family is dealing with enough other MAJOR health problems that I don't want to mention this to any of them. FI is just so rational that I don't want to admit to him that I'm really scared of the things it could be. I'm sure it is nothing but.... well... I'm scared.

I'm going to start with a couple of vitamins to see if that takes care of the problem.

I am so sorry Too, but you need to go get this checked out, as soon as possible. Being a student you can always buy student health insurace, thats what im looking into getting. I know you can buy health inusrance too, rather cheaply...its more imporant for you to go get it check out and be safe, than continue to wait.

Too: I am sorry about the health issue in your family.

Cali: omg.. I agree with you. $2500 is too much. I only want to buy a dress for less than $500. I wonder if that is possible at all. I will need to wear it in canada and hk. I might rent, depends on the price. I will also have a Chinese wedding dress. Probably gonna be custom made in hk.

Okay, this is off track, but im watching The Time Travelers Wife, and dangit, its making cry again ;(

Jessie -- don't be sad. He'll ask you soon.
And until then.... if you look and plan now you can have a head start and save lots of money because you'll know who has the lowest prices, what sales to watch for, etc. Plus you'll be less stressed during the "real planning" because you'll have a bunch of stuff already researched.

Too - It really sounds like you should get it checked out, have you considered individual insurance? Since I'm self-employed, I just get my insurance from BCBS and have been for a couple years. It's ~150/month (and I don't have the pregnancy stuff), but if your family has a history of medical problems it's really something you should look into. I would hate for you to find out that you have something even remotely serious and then not be able to get insurance anymore (cuz that's exactly how it works). I'm sure you could find cheaper stuff too, I just went with the Co. I had growing up...

I've been looking at preownedweddingdresses.com oncewed is another site that was suggested.

Thanks Too, i know hell ask, but i have a bad habit of when i start looking at stuff, i want to start buying...lol

Chinese traditional dress (not really a wedding dress): lot of different versions. I think this is a more modern one.

Traditional wedding gown: will rent
http://eleganteventdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/chinese-kwa.jpg

I will wear both on my wedding. I will walk down the alter in my wedding dress. Then, I will change into those Chinese dresses during the banquet. Finally, wear an evening gown to say goodbye to the guests at the end.

Jessie - I didn't search for places that had champagne, I was actually just looking for highly rated boutiques near me. I went on one of the websites and it said on the homepage that they like to create a relaxed, fun atmosphere so they serve their brides champagne. After looking around, I was thinking of course you serve champagne, you're just trying to get me drunk so I buy a really expensive dress!

I also looked at the preowned sites and would have no problem using them, but again none of them are long enough. All the Jim Hjelms and Monique Lhuilliers were for gals from 5'5-5'8. I just need to find that one girl who is the same height and has the same taste in dress because that's super likely. :P

Cali - I agree, bring pictures in if that is where the difference is most noticible. I would also call around to dentists and see if they just would offer free consultations for new clients and let them know your concerns and go with the doc you feel most comfortable with and knowledgable. On the other thing, I don't even thing you'd need to bring a "planner." I know a lot of the places out here will do tastings for free - at least that's what my friend's place did. You wouldn't even have to say it's your planner, tell them it's your bridesmaid who's helping you plan!

Could you imagine getting drunk while trying on dresses? You might walk out with multiple options  That's probably their plan!

Too - get to a doctor, seriously. I'm not familiar with symptoms of hypersensitivity, but bruising easily could mean a lot of things. The only thing I could think that would be a simple solution to the bruising is an Iron deficincy but I'm not 100% on that. I know blood platlets play a role and they'll usually check those levels through a blood test which is fairly easy. Is there an medical office at the school? I remember getting blood tests done while I was in college since I didn't have insurance, I'm sure there are options out there that you're not aware of either.

LoL...yep, get em drunk so they buy a reall expensive dress...lol....Fun, relaxing atmosphere...lol

Gotta admit it is a great sales technique...

Look at how many brides buy a dress and then change their mind and can't return it.

Just called to check on the status of my ring. He hasn't heard anything from tacori yet. He will call tacori to check for me and call me back lateR. He said it will probably take another 5 business days. oMG I am so disappointed now I wanna cry.

Ok, I've got a dentist appt for next Tuesday. I'm really hoping this guy says that that is just how they naturally photograph and I'm being a crazy perfectionist. The lady on the phone was like, hmmm you've only had them a month and you already want them changed. Thanks biatch!

I need to stop thinking about dresses. I'm not going to look until thanksgiving, so I need to calm my horses. Maybe I should work on booking, you know, my hotel.

Oh no BG! That's horrible news. :( wonder why it's taking so long?

I just got an e-mail from FI...

Some person at his work sent out to everyone information about an open-house at a hotel. Totally NOT a wedding conversation going on there, but he sent me the information and said we should visit the place and talk to them about weddings
It's actually really pretty. Right on the water and very nice looking.

I'm a bit concerned about the price (their website is pretty vague but the deposit to schedule is more expensive than the winery and it looks like they've got a bunch of hidden fees they tack on...) but it is really pretty.

I think he's getting into the planning  Yay

Yay Too! That's awesome that he's throwing wedding ideas out. Based on initial impressions, which would you prefer the hotel or the winery?

;( ;( ;(

That is so awful! Don't they know that you need it?!?!!
You've been without it for so long ;(

Sigh. I feel like crying inside. I was so looking forward to get it back this week, like today. Very disappointed. I am giving up on it. Stupid ring.

Too: I am glad your FI is planning. I like it when my FI suggests something too. It makes me think he is looking forward to growing old together. I know what you mean by hidden fee. As I was looking at some banquet information at hotels and golf courses, I realized that they charge a lot of little stuff. Some don't even make sense. Some said if you don't spend up to a certain amount, then you need to pay something. I dunno. For Chinese banquet, it is a lot easier. $500ish for 10 ppl table. Done. Sigh.

My first impression is that this place is really pretty. I love the water being right there and since it is western WA it'll have a lot more green plants and stuff around.
I'm really concerned about hidden fees and stuff. They charge cake cutting fees ($1.50 per person) for any cakes/cupcakes brought in even if they don't have to do anything. Bartender costs extra. Chef costs extra (for certain menu items). I haven't found rental prices yet or food/beverage minimums.
The winery includes bartender, cake cutting, chef on site, etc. in the rental fee. All charges are listed and easy to find.

Based on the pictures, it is pretty and I'd like to visit to find out more. If they answer my questions and the rental + food/bev is reasonable they would certainly be a good possibility.

ETA:

Here is a link to the hotel. Link.

Lots of little hidden things in many of the contracts. BIW has some threads talking about the hidden fees that some places charge and the things you want to be sure to ask (and in some cases get in writing) BEFORE signing any contract.

BG - I think you should get yourself a ring pop to have on your finger for now. Worrying about the bling will only stress you and what bad can come from candy on your finger (other than a few extra lbs)

Too - It's funny, I actually requested some rough pricing from lots of different places and one one of the spots they actually sent an itimized bill for an example and I was shocked at the extras! I was going to use that when I narrowed my list down to see what other people would come up with when it came to charges. Hotels do seem to cost a lot though, so it'd be wise to send a quick email to see if it's even feasable, before getting all excited about it if you visit. Though if you keep posting reception places, I might end up with a even bigger list than I was hoping!

So stupid. They wants to chop off our legs or something. One golf course states that you need to spend at least $10k on a sat. You need to pay $2 per person for cutting the cake. Also, if you want to have music at your banquet, you need to pay $60 (dancing) or $30(no dancing) because of copyright or something. If you want projector and screen it's like $100. Microphone and stereo another $60. Omg. My FI think we should stick with a Chinese banquet.
