Adana: it's good to try the ring in person. You never know if it look good on your finger. :praise: what kind of diamond are you thinking about?

Hi BG :wavey:

Hope she's okay. Her post sounded like the weekend was pretty bad.

Wet and cold here too. Friday last week was pretty okay but it has been raining/windy/cold since then. LOTS of rain on Sunday. Monday was really wet and WINDY! Tree branches flying through the air.
I want it to be summer again ;(

Cali --

FMIL coming to visit?

Hey Ladies :wavey: ....goodness, i feel like i miss so much over the weekend.

My weekend wasnt the best....Friday night my period decided to start again...i just had it 2 weeks ago. I was so upset, i made a cake for football sunday. Saturday Night C and i were going out to see a show, well on the way there, theres a turn we had to make. Well he didnt noticed the road divider and hit it, going 50 mph....we bumped our head, i spilled my drink all over his white pants. Im lad we didnt have a serious headache. Sunday was football game, we lost so it wasnt a good day, no nap. Tha monday we cleaned the whole house for the party on friday, which was good, but we went out to buy things, while getting out of the car, i hit my lower chin on the car door, had a headache for hours...so yeah, it wasnt a good weekend. Im just happy its cooling off here.

Are you both okay?
Is your car okay?
Didn't you see your doctor? -- Did they ever figure out why your period shows up every couple of weeks?

Yikes Jessie! I'm sorry you had so many accidents this weekend. How are you and C feeling today? What happened to the car?

Hey Too - how are you today?

Yes, my FMIL is coming and even though I explicitly said she couldn't sleep at our house, guess where she's staying. FI is lucky I like him so much...

Adana - oh, if he has a ring that he is selling in the design you like, that could still be really useful even if the center stone isn't exactly the same. I agree with BG, you really have to try rings on to see how they look on your hand. I thought I was going to get a 3-sided pave ring but it just didn't fit with me, so I ended up on the other end of the spectrum with a solitaire. Ya just never know.

Thanks Ladies....we are okay, just some headaches. The car is okay, just the wheel covering is cracked, and will need to eb replaes along with the alignment. We are lucky is wasnt anything worse, granted the car makes a sqeeking noise now, but its better than something else.

No, the doc never did firgure out why my cycle is so off, she said its due to the BC shot i got, and it could take up to year before my cycles are regular  ....so not happy about that.

Cali- you are a good woman. I would have stood my ground, but than gain, its C and my mom thats the issue. How long is she stayin?

Cali --- Does she live near you (or at least close enough to drive a few hours and then "have" to stay overnight) or is she coming in from out of town?
How long did you "invite" her to stay with you?

I'm tired. (sorry.... the weather here is getting to me -- cloudy. dark. wet. cold.)
I've got a programming quiz I HAVE to take tonight (since I didn't do it this weekend) that I'm not looking forward to -- It is supposed to be on chapters 3-4 but one of the other people took it a couple of days ago and said there is stuff from chapter 5

Trying to be positive ---
I got my hair cut. I think I like it (mostly) and it really feels better. Now I need to get some real hair supplies and start getting it healthy and nice (currently using VO5 shampoo & conditioner since it doesn't make me sneeze).
I need - a real brush, a decent dryer, shampoo, conditioner, light holding spray, hot rollers (as a start)

Next in line is skin care & makeup
(I have NO lotions or skin treatments. My makeup (that I've only worn once) is one tube of lipstick and one liquid coverup (since I had an event to go to and big blisters on my forehead & lip after splashing hot oil while cooking  )

Busy... Lots of good stuff to learn and use and buy.

Lilly is getting a bit better but we still need to get her using an inhaler every day.
Milly is up to 15 pounds and will need a new collar soon!

Too- if you want to start on skin care and makeup, try the mineral makeup, it really helps with skin that gets break outs and also the best cleaner/facial regime for me is Noxema ....Im so sorry about Lily....hopefully she gets better, and it doesnt take too long for you to get used to giving her meds.

BG: I think vintage/antique cushion cut. I've become a big fan of those.

Cali: you were right about Leon. He was nice on the phone but told me he sold his last already made cold fusion so no trying anything on. I'm not worried about not liking it on me though, I've tried lots on in the past and I know I like pave, haven't tried 3 sided pave though. My last e-ring was picked out online and I only saw it in person after the proposal, I have a RHR and other jewelry that I picked out online so I have to cross my fingers if I can't find a similar setting to try on in person.

Sorry about the FMIL situation. I hope the time flies while she's there.

Too: I love both versions of course I would be amazed with the 3 sided. Good luck on the hair and makeup routine. I think once you find a style you like it becomes pretty routine.

Jessie: I'm glad you both are ok. Sounds pretty scary. I definitely think BC can mess your cycles up for several months. It's happened to me in the past.

So yeah Leon was nice enough on the phone but said he doesn't keep settings in stock usually so we'll have to figure something else out.

Noxema is so good. I have been using it since summer. My FI used it forever and he has amazing skin. That's why I decided to use noxema. I use mineral makeup. It is very good.

Jessie, I hope you are ok. Sorry about the accident.

Thanks, ladies...i think C needs some Glasses, but the street was dark. Im more worried about the car than my head bump. I hit and bump into things all the time, im more accident-proned that Bella from Twilight.

Noxema is the best, i also use clean and clear system at the boyfreinds house, and Noxema at Mom's house....i love the noxema scrub for the face, it feels sooo good.

I like noxema sometimes but I feel like my skin has gotten oiler so I need something else. I've gone back to the clinique 3 step system for oily/combination skin and I like it a lot.

 I'm like that too. My FI said I'm an accident waiting to happen.

OMG.. they have noxema SCRUB???? I gonna try it. I'm using St. Ives' Scrub. That is cheap and good too.

I like the St. Ives too, but the noxema feels as good and it has the meds in it. I actually got C using the scrub too, he is like" It feels so good" lol....

Yeah, i had a mirgine yesturday after hitting my chin on the door of the car.

Jessie - I'm glad that you are both relatively ok and that your car wasn't too badly broken. Car accidents scare the crap out of me even though I've never really been in one. Just the lack of control in a giant piece of steel gets to me.

Too - I know you're getting a lot of recs, but I'll chime in with Cetaphil cleanser and Neutrogena healthy skin anti-wrinkle moisturizer. I've been using that combo for 5 years now and I have no pimples and no wrinkles. Love em. Also, one thing you might want to consider is investing in a good hairdryer. I have thin, straight hair as well and it is so much healthier since I switched from a conair to a T3 hairdryer. It's expensive up front, but I get fewer haircuts and they don't break as often.

Adana - that's what I was worried about. But at least Leon was nice to you on the phone, I was so nervous when I spoke to him that I probably sounded like a whack job. Is he going to source the stone for you as well?

Fortunately when we moved, we moved away from the in-laws. Now they are a 2 hr flight away. However, she just kind of invited herself over and FI has trouble saying no to his parents, so she is staying here for 3 nights. I gotta say, I'm not really looking forward to this weekend.

Cali- i am so sorry about the in-laws....i would hate if C had invite some people to stay and i didnt want them to, Lord knows i would be so mad at C. But luckily, we dont have any people like that.

Cali -- FI must learn to say NO.... or at least "I'll make reservations for you at this nice hotel/b&b"

Thanks for the additional recommendations. I have allergies so have to try many different things until I find something that doesn't make me sneeze. A good hairdryer would probably help. I'm not even sure what we have since I've only used it a few times in the last couple of years.

My face is currently dry and flaking. Other times it gets greasy and icky. My family is very prone to acne (75 year old grandpa still dealing with it). ------ :nono:

I'm so glad I have you ladies to learn this stuff from. I know very little about hair, makeup, lotions, creams, etc. -- And my family knows less than I do

Too: maybe try a makeup counter at a dept store so you can learn to apply the basics then you can experiment with different colors.

Cali: I know he's not a fan of GOG stones and since Perry is supposed to have a good supply of antique/vintage cushions then maybe. It would make it easier and I've read that Leon tells people they can get beautiful stones that are less pricey than GOG.

Cali: sorry about your FMIL. At least your FI is nice to his mom. That's one thing you should be happy about? I hope? When is she coming? How long will she be staying?

Too: I have been using 100% tea tree oil as spot treatment for my pimples. I have been using it for a week. When I FEEL like a pimple is coming, I put some on that area. It seems to make it go away faster. It's 100% natural and you can use up to 3 times a day. It won't dry out the skin too. I've ordered mario badescu drying lotion. I hope that is good too. I'm still waiting for it to arrive. Also, if I don't exfoliate my skin as least once a week (2 times a week MAX), I feel like my skin is more likely to break out!

Too - to echo BG, I know Tea Tree oil is really good for spot treatments. I used it in college a bit and it can really shrink a big pimple in no time. I usually got it from Whole Foods and it wasn't too pricey. And definitely look into cetaphil if you have allergies. They have a non-fragranced option for all skin types, so that could could work well for you.

Adana - out of curiosity, why doesn't your bf like GOG? I think one day I'll get a honkin AVC for a RHR, but that's a ways away. I will say I did contact them when looking for my e-ring and I was not impressed by their customer service, but that's blasphemy on this site. ;)

BG and Jessie - she's coming on saturday and leaving tuesday I think? No one tells me anything. She just booked a flight to come here, told FI she was coming, and then said last week that she's excited to stay at our house. We thought she was getting a hotel, so that was a surprise. FI will never be able to say no to his parents, he's just not a no kind of guy. How do you think I get so many nice things.

Cali: He doesn't have any issues with GOG, I've just read repeated threads that Leon doesn't like GOG stones because I guess they're competitors. That's why i figured it would be easier to go through Perry to get the stone, less chance of upsetting Leon. lol

Adana - oops! I read what you wrote wrong. Yeah, I know Leon and GOG aren't the best of friends and I can understand why. But if you love AVCs there are easy ways of getting around that conflict. Many people on PS have done it, plus it seems like Leon is being very friendly recently so don't rule it out completely.

Hope everyone is well.

Just have to vent, my bf is being a pain in the a$$ at the moment. We were going so well but now he's getting stressed over the search for the stone :-( not sure how to deal with him.....ahhhh!

Aww I feel your pain. ((hugs))

SO & I got into it a little. He was saying I keep worrying about the ring and the price and less of the wedding and marriage. :nono: I was so hurt.

I want a Tacori and he says he has the ring covered & me always worrying about the price is almost insulting and that he will get me what I want.

For me, it's less about whether or not he can afford it, but more about me feeling guilty for wanting such an expensive setting. So I try to make sure I'm not pressuring him into buying something more than he is comfortable spending--- even if he does have the money.

SO is amazing with finances, is financially stable due to that and being smart & conservative with his spending and doesn't like to spend money willy nilly. i just didn't want to feel like I was pushing him out of his comfort zone on spending. :(( This is why I am so worried about the Tacori quality. I don't want him to spend so much money on a setting, only for it not to be totally worth it. :(sad

But I LOOOVE that design & he only wants to make me happy. :-(

Cali: I don't think I was too clear in what I wrote either! I guess when it comes down to it BF can choose to do it all with Leon which may be easier since we are in the city or break it up.

Twinkle: sorry you are arguing about something like that. You'd think he would be happy you are trying to be considerate of his finances. I kind of had a similar tiff with BF at one point when I said I didn't want him to get my ring from Tiffany because obviously you're paying a higher price for the name. He felt like it's his money and he can spend it how he wants and can buy a ring from there if he feels it has better quality etc. I guess somehow they feel insulted like saying you think they can't afford it whereas I know I just feel guilty about the idea of him spending over a certain amount. We're not in a situation where either of us own houses or are so established in our careers (I've only been practicing about 3 years or so and he's still in school).

Mif: Sorry you had an argument. K and I had an irrational one last night too. At least he's feeling that way because maybe he wants to get you something perfect. My BF is more about "I want us to live in the moment and keep growing together and then we'll get there but I'm not ready yet, give me more time, we have the timeline (his timeline)" blah blah lol
