Here's a question --- Since he's been talking jewelry and pointing out wedding locations and wedding stuff, does he have your ring being made right now and is just really excited for it to be done? Maybe he's getting ahead of himself and looking at wedding stuff because he knows you'll be engaged soon?

Too- that may be possible, but i dont know. EVERYTHING is going to be a surpised, the ring,when he proposes, everything, and it drives me crazy. Also, him pointing out wedding things, such as " A lot of couple do their wedding pictures out here, its really pretty" drove me insane, just like when he kept walking past a certain waterfall. I hope your right, in him waiting for the ring to be done, and getting ahead of himself. I really do, im going crazy over here...LoL...

How was your weekend?

To help keep my mind off of him acting funny, i made a cake for my C's Friends birthday tommorow. We are celebrating at the bar we go to, because our team is playing tommorow. So I made a Tiramisu Cake...ill post pictures of it later, in the DIY thread im gonna start.
 
MMmmmmm. Sounds yummy.

Baking helps distract me too sometimes - helps when you've got a group of people to help eat though...


We cleaned this weekend. Got people coming for Thanksgiving this Sunday (yeah... we decided to move Thanksgiving from Thursday to Sunday) so I've got to get the house ready, finish planning the meal, etc.
I'll start the actual cooking on Friday.

Then on Wednesday next week (one week from today) my mom goes in for her back surgery. Hopefully it'll make her feel better.

And my grandparents are getting new carpet in their house! (first time in 30+ years...)
I suggested that we should paint the house for them (the main floor where the carpeting is) so they can have fresh paint to (also for the first time in 30+ years...). Grandma is SOoooooo excited --- she actually sounds healthy, energetic, and like herself again.
Not sure when we're doing this exactly... probably in the next week or two.
I'll be exhausted what with school (including an exam and a final), work, and this but it's worth it to see Grandma excited and full of life again!
(grandma had a problem with her sodium levels this last year and wound up in intensive care for awhile. Everything is all balanced right again and the dr's say that physically she's healthy -- she's just been sounding so.... tired and old and not like Grandma)
 
Jessie: After reading about the perfect setting, I said to my FI "I think jessie will be engaged soon." then he said, " it's about time" :D :lol:

Too- O my, you have so much going on. a BIG congrats to your grandparents, what colour paint? Also, ill be praying your mother's surgery goes well. So what are you cooking for Thanksgiving Dinner? C actually got Thanksgiving Off...i am so excited, we found out yesturday, but my mom is cooking, so we are going to do thanksgiving with my family, heres praying to it going well. He said he would never do anything with my family again, but he is trying so im so happy. One of the many reasons why i love him...so for rambling on.

Bg- LoL....i feel the same way, but it wasnt a ring setting, im hoping Too is right, and he is just getting excited. So we shall see.

So i took a small sample of the cake to my moms work, and her and her coworkers tried it out. My mom didnt like it, but said it tasted about right. Her coworker James, tried it a few times, and said the filing was perfect, and then Gina, said it was so good, it tasted like a resturant
 
turkey -- 24-26 pounds, rubbed with sage/rosemary/lemon, basted with butter & white wine
stuffing -- homemade challah, sage/rosemary/thyme, chicken stock, fresh apples, toasted almonds
gravy.
roasted garlic mashed potatoes
sweet potatoes (and/or yams) -- roasted and then tossed with fresh ginger & lime juice & butter & brown sugar, baked until browned
cranberry sauce -- fresh cranberries cooked in orange juice with some sugar
cranberry relish -- raw cranberries chopped with orange juice, lemon zest (FI does this one)
dinner rolls -- fresh baked with rosemary
pecan pie
pumpkin pie
sweet potato pie

Still need to fill in with some veggies-- probably asparagus, tomato/cucumber salad
 
O my goodness Too, that sounds so yummy. Like, :lickout: seriously, if i hadnt had something to eat a little while ago, that would have made me so hungry. Goodness, you are such a good cook.
 
Damn all these Ring commericals on TV, dont they know there are LIW in the world seriously :evil:

Oh my god I know!!! They are torturous!!! I can't imagine how much worse they will get as it gets closer to Christmas!!
 
I also cant stand all the ring commericals, are they trying to kill us? I'm sure there are the same amount as always, but it seems like 5x more because I'm paying so much attention!

Also... all the Kate Middleton/Prince William coverage does me in too. I want a sapphire and hopefully people wont think I was just following the royal trend of 2010-2011 for the rest of my life!

OMG, i agree to about Kate/William......seriously, i dont know these people, i really wish it would stop.

Katey... i agree about it getting worse closer to christmas. Last Night there was a commerical where all the guys were proposing to their SO's, and it was like different langauges. I think it was for Jareds, or Kay. Aaarrgghhh, i swear, im gonna have to read more, and watch TV less.

For the most part I use DVR but there are some shows that I just watch or keep on as background noise while doing homework...until I hear that stupid jingle for Kay! That's the commercial with the different languages. Within however many minutes of commercials I was hit with 3 jewelry ads for engagement rings. Now it's all over the radio and everyone is really laying it on thick with my poor boyfriend. I should just not watch anything but DVR'd shows or movies during this time of year. Sheesh! :shock:
 
LOL I just saw the Kay's commercial with the different languages today! It made me think of your comments. The ring commercials don't bother me. I think they're sweet but that said, I haven't been a LIW for years so I may not have gotten to that stage.
 
I have been a liw for awhile now, so yeah, they irk me. Granted, i agree with you, they are sweet, but still irking... :lol:

So im having a bad day, had to take the SO to work this morning, on the way, my car started acintg up, BADLY, to the point of him yelling at me about driving me car around ;( . I had told him, when i took it to the mechanic, the guy said it was fine, and didnt think too much about it, because im never on the freeway driving fast to feel it. He was upset with me, telling me that just because i dont do something to feel it, doesnt mean its okay. He said it wasnt fit to be on the road, and why didnt i tell him sooner. He has had more than enough on his mind and i dont want to be a bother. Well after driving him 30 MILES to work, i had to turn around, go to my moms house, pack some stuff, and than drop the car off. Well normally i would ask my mom for a ride, but guess what? She is out of town at my cousins wedding( who just turned 18, ( like 2 weeks) has been dating this guy for a year) so i had to call C's friend to come get me, he was comming over to fix C's car, because his car is broke too. BUT get this...C has another car he could have drove, but didnt want to because he just got it cleaned and it is suppose to rain today. O, and my laptop stopped working for an hour, i have 2 exams on tuesday and i feel like crying ;( :errrr:
 
Jessie: I'm sorry you're having a bad day. Don't cry. HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! Things will be better. Just think about CHRISTMAS! BTW, it snowed here yesterday. It's so pretty outside. btw, BB is on my finger now. She just waved to you to cheer you up. :lol:
 
Thanks Bg...thats BB....its hard so hard to be happy. Poo.....no fun for me this weekend, between studying , C being in a bad mood, and he is getting sick. :(sad
 
Sorry you're having a bad weekend Jessie. Seems like when it rains it pours and lots of things happen at once.

K and I had a great time last night at the dinner party. There were 13 people there. We had great conversations. The food was ok not great but edible. K told me he's taking me to Hawaii or wherever I want to go next year for my 30th! It would be great if he proposed there or before that but we'll see. His birthday is on the 1st so I'm trying to decide what I want to do for it. I'm heading to Tiffany this week to buy his present. I'm getting a silver money clip. I'm trying to decide on a nice restaurant to take him to.
 
C and i went out this weekend, and passed a small jewerlers. Well we went and, and i found a setting i like. Oddly, its not something i would have thought i would like, but it he could afford it now, instead of later. Its a solitare in two tone, with a ring guard. Yes, i said ring guard. But the Ring guard is white gold with yellow gold accent, adn a channel set, it has like 4 dimaonds on each side. The setting is 300, since there is no diamond in it, but C and i were going through his mothers jewelry, and found 2 diamonds, that would possible work out nicely. He isnt sure they are diamonds, so he is going to get them checked out, valued, and if everything works out, set!!! Oddly the ring, would only need to be resized from 8.25 to 8.50..also the guy said if i didnt like the prong setting on the solitare, he would change them out for me, for 65, and free ring sizing. So if everything works out, i will have my ring a lot sooner than i thought!!! Eppp, im so excited. :errrr: :errrr: :D :lol: Side note, we found 2 nice diamonds, one that sparkles like a lot, heart shaped. Its small, almost half a carat, but we also found a warmer diamond set in a necklace, and it looks to almost be 1.50, im really hoping the 1.50 works out. it would be perfect :errrr: :errrr: Now, here comes my waiting. Been waiting almost 2 years, and this is the waiting thats going to drive me crazy.
 
omg.. This is very excited! Ring shopping! I'm sure he'll propose soon. OMG! BTW... what is a ring guard?

Jessie what a huge deal! I hope the stone you like works out. Seems like this happened so randomly but it's great news.

No i didnt get a picture of the ring, i like, but here is an idea/picture ofw hat a ring guard looks like. The one we looked didnt sit on both sides, it was just one side, and it was a little more classic...i guess some would say plain. Im really hoping the diamonds work out, but at this point C probably wont tell me anything.

Adanas- C and i usually do something really random on Monday, its like our Sunday, but things happen to be open, whereas on sunday places are closed. We just happened to be driving by this shop, also, almost everything in the shop is one of a kind pieces, they usually design the work for people.

My mom is in surgery this morning. She had to be there at 9 to start checking in and getting ready. Not sure when the surgery itself started but it should take 1-2 hours so she's probably actually in surgery right now.

I know it is a "routine" surgery and she'll get to go home today, but I'm still kind of scared about what could happen.
 
Too- How is your mom doing? Im so sorry your nervous about her surgery. I hope she is okay, please keep us updated.

My mom was sent home from the hospital a few hours ago. I haven't talked to her yet but my grandmother did. I'll probably talk to her tomorrow. Not sure how she's feeling yet but she did have dinner when she got home (I was talking to my brother when she called him to let him know that they were bringing dinner home so he shouldn't cook for them).
