The LIW Small Talk Thread

BG - yay for the trunk show! You absolutely have to come on here and show us the bands that were your favorite so we can oogle the bling. :appl:

I actually found a band that fit my ring perfectly. It was the Tiffany Novo wedding band and it sat at the perfect height so it fit with both my e-ring and the eternity band I already have. However, it's ridiculously overpriced and I think FI might let me get two pink diamond bands instead. I'm just too crazy to have simple diamond bands, I feel like I need something different. However, I would never get rose gold so I don't know if it's going to be worth it. And unfortunately yellow diamonds look like crap on my skin. We'll have to see when I talk to Leon since he's going to be making the bands for me...

I think I have a diamond addiction; I'm out of control. :wacko:
 
I wont be doing thanksgiving, C has to work, and he has to work swing shift, so ill probably get some food from my moms and than take him a plate close to his lunch. Ill probabaly do a christmas breakfast the day after christmas for C and some friends.

How did the interview go with the dog sitting service? That is so exciting you are going to go to NY to get your rings, i wish i could do that, but its so exciting. I cant wait to hear how your trip went when you get back!

I agree its been super quiet around PS soon, its like dead. I hate when its slow, nothing going on for me, so i need PS to help fill my void :lol:

Cali- I agree on have a diamond addiction, i have a " shiny" addiction, i just cant afford to buy any. LoL...
 
Even though your not doing thanksgiving, you can still do other projects. For example, I don't know how into Christmas you are, but I am a super duper christmas nut and I'll be making stockings for me, FI and all our dogs. And fyi - my FI is Jewish, lol. Or you could make some decorations for around the house. Lots of options around this time!

The interview was, um, interesting. One of my dogs flips out around new people, so of course she peed all over and then took a big poop right in front of the woman. So embarassing but not unexpected. Thankfully, my other dog is so lovable that he makes up for my little girl's spazzy personality. Everything is all good now and they have a sitter all lined up.

My diamond/handbag addiction has been raging since I've had a bit of free time recently. I can't fathom how FI can stand to hear about all I want...However, on the flip side, a few days ago he almost bought the exact car (I mean, the SAME car) we sold before we moved to Denver because he missed it. I think we're both a little crazy about our wants. Ah well.

So how have your classes been going? I always hated this time in school since you get really excited for the holidays but then you have to take all those crappy finals to get to christmas. I'm almost positive I got better grades in the winter semester than the fall semester because I just can't focus around the holidays. Have I mentioned how much I love christmas and snow?! I definitely don't miss AZ anymore, I have my fingers crossed for a big blizzard.
 
Awww, Cali,that is so funny. My little Girl dog is the same way, she either gets spazzy or scared and pee's. Last week, she peed right on the floor by the bed because the smoke alarm started beeping because the battery was dead. That is the scariest noise in the world to her.So are you going to hire that lady as the sitter? Will she just stop by or stay at the house?

I am very christmasy, i always decorate and ive already made us stockings so, ill jus tmake candles/candle holders for around the house. Also, ill do the breakfast, its closest to his family tadition than mine, which is usally dinner, so ill do christmas eve dinner with my family while he is at work, and christmas day with the family while he is at work, and than ill do christmas night and the next day with C.

Okay, i most say, him trying to buy the same car completely means you can talk and want to buy as many sparklies as you want. I would have been frustrated, at least look to buy a car that different.

School is okay, my math class is kicking my butt and i have 2 HUGE papers due in a few weeks, that im cokmpletely stressing about, but its going okay. Im going to have to study hard this last month, i have to do good. HAVE to....

Az is like NV, but its a bit colder, like our lows are in the 40's right now, and in a few neighborhoods around here the low hit the Mid 30's, i like it cold, but i dont know if i could do a blizzard. :nono: ...means im stuck in the house :lol: ....so are you done fixing up the house?
 
Oh, that's awesome your dog is the same. No one ever seems to get it and they think we just haven't trained her. We seriously tell everyone when they come over to not touch the white dog, but they never seem to listen and when they get peed on they blame us. She just gets too excited and can't contain herself.

The woman that came over was actually interviewing us, not the other way around. It's a very structured company and they only watch dogs with certain temperaments. She was fine with my pups, so now we're set up with a sitter in the company and then that person will come over to meet the dogs. The girl will be staying at our house and will only leave when she has to take other dogs on walks. I really like how much care my babies get, so I'm happy it all worked it.

You said you'll make candle holders, anything else you can do? Wreaths perhaps? You should become a DIY goddess to keep your mind preoccupied.

What are your papers about? Sorry about math, I only took one math class in college because it was required and I had negotiate for a B. Yes, I was that obnoxious and crazy about my grades...

I always thought LV was just like AZ, good to know. If it's that cold now, does it ever snow? I remember the winter in AZ was in the 60s and that is just not normal. I don't mind a blizzard because we only have one 4WD vehicle so if it's snowing a lot, FI is going to take it to work. I'll be trapped no matter what.

House is pretty much done. Funny thing is when FMIL came over, she pointed out everything I should change and I just ignored her. I like it the way it is and I'm not taking any of her "suggestions."
 
HaHa, we tell people the same thing with our Dog. Actually when we come hom, we have to run to the backyard to say hello, because she is excited she will pee all on the carpet.

Its really good, they are going to treat your babies good and not leave. I would like that, maybe C and i should find a company like that, we cant leave easily because one of our dog's has seizures, so its hard to leave him.

I am thinking about trying to make wreath this year, i just love candles, espically good smelling ones. I try to add oils to them to make them smeel even better. Im thinking of doing a candle holder with like pine in it with a gold candle and some holly.

Yeah, i have like 3 more math classes, and im hating it, if i can pass this one, it will be good, but the professor is hard. Im still trying to firgure out my major, i think i want to change it from education, teachers here dont make a lot of money.

I dont blame you for igorning your FMIL, i would have too, its your house, not hers. Seriously, my home is my place, i dont want no advice...lol
 
We've never lived anywhere with a dog watching service like this and I have to say it is an amazing option. I found them through yelp and they had a ton of good reviews. I just checked their website and they aren't in Nevada, but there could be something similar in your area. We just pay for an overnight visit and with it you get 24 hr dog and house care, so it really is pretty awesome.

I love your idea for the candle holder and candles. So do you make the candles themselves or do you just enhance their scent? I really want to make some christmas stuff to make our house more festive, but I'm not very creative or domestic. You should start a LIW "how-to" christmas thread and tout it as a way to combat LIWitis. I'd follow it for sure.

Ugh, three more math classes is brutal. But I think you're right, it really does depend on the professor. I didn't know you were studying education. Yeah, teachers definitely don't make very much, but they also get 3-4 months off each year so it can't be all bad. What grade/subject would you want to teach? In Hangout recently there was a thread about teaching, so you might want to check it out.

If you decide to change your major, what are you going to switch to?

Ladies! I just came back from the Tacori Trunkshow! Get ready for some ring ****...

They are all eternity bands. All in USD.

I need to talk to my FI. Hope he won't think it's TOO expensive. There's a trunkshow discount. USD and CDN are at par for this trunkshow. ALSO, there will be a 12% price increase in Jan. So.... if we were to get it, we should get it by tomorrow because we get the USD=CDN price AND without the price increase.

I don't have my e-ring with me. I miss it a lot. I talked to the Tacori rep about how I see there's a little yellow spot on my ring (looks kinda like rusted). He said he'll take it with him back to LA have it refurbish. At the same time, I'll have size up to 4.75 snug (it's like 4.70.

I already know which one I want. Take a guess ladies... which one do I like the MOST?

My e-ring will be back in 2 weeks. The rep said he'll make sure I get my ring refurbish because of the yellow tint. WEIRD! I am also excited that it will feel more comfortably too.

I need some dust ladies. I'm trying not to get too excited because I don't know if my FI is ok with the price. I'm nervous!

Even if I don't plan to resize it yet, I still want to have the yellow mark fixed. I have no idea why it was like that. It's just a tiny little bit on one side.
 
Hmmm, yes i would be concerned about it also, you havent had your ring long enough to have a yellow spot on it.

Ok, here's my 2 cents. I do not like number 2, too busy next to your ring. I think number 3 would look better if the band was your size, but I also think it is too plain and that it doesn't really add anything to your set. With that said, I'm going with number 1 because it's different enough to be visually interesting and it complements your ring well without being too matchy matchy.

I really hope number 1 is your favorite, it's really cool!!

LoL...i was paying attention, i can multi-task, and it was my psy class, i take my laptop so i can follow along with the powerpoint lectures and take notes at the same time. I can recall a lot of things easier that way than if im just watching the powerpoint lecture, or taking notes. I guess its more engaging for my mind.

OMG. you and Jessie know me soooooooooo well. My favourite one IS the first one! It turns out to be the cheapest of all. I hope my FI is happy.

Cali: You can read my mind. The third one is too boring. The second one... it looks too "old". I love the first on because it is just interested and pretty.
 
Well im sure you FI will be happy witht he price of number one, and you will too, so it a win win :D

Hi ladies! I'm back! I had a great time with my family and wish I had a few more days off but work has been going well today!

BG: I really like the 1st band spo I'm happy it's your favorite and your FI is ordering it!

No news re engagement here. I only spoke to K once while away and he was in Hawaii at the time. His grandfather isn't doing too well now so the family is worried. He did send me texts saying he really missed me and it was hard not being able to speak everyday like normal. On Saturday we're going on a 4 couple date with a few of my friends and their SOs. We did have another talk the night before I left and he kept telling me that he loves me, he's sure he wants to marry me but he needs to get things on order re his business and schooling stuff before we get married. I feel better that he said that. Not loving the waiting but we'll get there when we're supposed to.
 
My FI ordered the wb on Saturday. HURRAY! It will arrive in 4 weeks!

Okay, Ladies, a Vent....C didnt propose this weekend, and he had the PERFECT setting, and KEPT pointing out that a lot of couples get married at where we were at, and it makes good pictures. I enjoyed my weekend, and the place, but AAARRGGHHHHH, it was perfect. Also, i am so TIRED OF hearing about Kate and Prince William already. Geesshhhhh

No, the perfect location setting, i have no idea what the ring will look/does look like. Arrggghhh, and we were both dressed nice, i had a cute red cocktail dress, pretty makeup, he had his nice black pants and shirt, we almost matched, it was perfect weather. We went to the Flamingo hotel, and outside they have a garden outside, were a lot of couple get married( C said this about 4 times) and they have like big Koi fish in a huge pond with a brigde over it, and theres ducks and turtles their and Flamingo's, SO PRETTY, and no ring...Gggggrrrrr!!! Would have been a perfect ending to the day! *Sigh* Im still frustrated( This happened last night) im actually baking right now. LIKE is 10:37 PM, and i just put a cake in the oven! Good thing i took on a big project for thursday( the cake) Im making a homemade tirumiso....

Here's a question --- Since he's been talking jewelry and pointing out wedding locations and wedding stuff, does he have your ring being made right now and is just really excited for it to be done? Maybe he's getting ahead of himself and looking at wedding stuff because he knows you'll be engaged soon?
