The LIW Small Talk Thread

Hey ladies...just popping on to say hello. I hadn't been around, my brother died on NYE, in case you didn't see the thread. Anyway...I'm around now! And we are going to San Fran and Napa in 2 weeks! I'm sort of expecting a proposal but i don't want to get my hopes up! I'm just excited to get out of town!! I can't wait! :appl:

I have no idea why that picture is in my profile. I had 2 different profiles because i didn't want my name on the side and I had pricescope change it to beesha77, so now i have 2 accounts. Guess I logged into the wrong one! I need to figure out the password on the other one i guess. I swear I am so out of it these days after the holidays, and the death of my brother. Let me see if i can figure it out!!

Woohoo! I got it!! I'm back!! So the last 3 posts are from me. My name is Kellie but i always use beesha as my name online. Ok so excuse the craziness!

beesha77 - Have a great time in Napa, I'm sending some *~dust~* your way!

I'm back from my cruise and we had fabulous time! Although there was no proposal SO did surprise me with a pair of beautiful Swarovski earrings before dinner one evening. I also had my first "thought he was about to propose" experience. It was on our last evening of vacation and we went to a very fancy restaurant over looking the water. Before dessert he suggested that we go outside because he wanted to stretch his legs, outside was a beautiful walkway with paths and gardens overlooking the water. As he went to sit down on a bench my heart fluttered because I thought he was about to get on one knee!!!

;( :angryfire: ;( :angryfire: :nono: :nono: ;( ;( (need a stubborn, determined emotie here.)

The good news has now turned to mixed with the potential for bad. Gah!!!!!

I really need to talk about this but have no one to turn to :nono: (and is way too.... personal.... to post here ;( )

I REALLY REALLY dislike this person. They are taking advantage of an awful system and a contract that had some unexpected loopholes  .
Well.... I'm stubborn. It may be uncomfortable. It may be unfair. But this person will NOT win. We will continue to pay the mortgage and survive no matter how hard they try.

We'll find out if it is vaguely neutral or massively bad in the next few weeks.

o too, i am so sorry Too- i hope things work out. If you need to post it or talk, im here.

So Jury Duty looks like it will be 2 weeks, instead of the 7, and i am stressing about school. *Sigh* why didnt i lie and say i hated the cops, i wouldnt have jury duty right now.

I dont know what to do for C's birthday. I asked his friend for input, and he said make him a seafood dinner, but i dont know how to cook fish, so i think thats a bad idea, and i wanted to try a brailizian steakhouse, but his friend said dont do that, because its pricey and C would hate if i spent that money. So i dont know what to do. Any sugesstions?

Does C like to cook fish himself?
If so, you could get him some really nice fish cooking tools (like a nice fish knife and a wood fish cooking board -- the thing that goes on the fire or in the oven with the fish on it) and all of the makings for a really nice dinner (a nice fish (pre-cleaned!!) that might be something he wouldn't usually buy for himself)... and let him cook it himself.
(Oh... I did this for B one year and he LOVED it. For him, half the joy of eating a really good steak is standing by the fire cooking it. So... I bought the 2 thickest porterhouse steaks the butcher would cut for me and all the stuff for his favorite side dishes and let him have his fun at the fire while I made the side dishes (and a nice cake) for him)

VERY happy right now!

It is looking really good that FI's parents will come over for the wedding, I never even dared to really hope that they would becasue it is a very long flight for them (24 hours + stop overs) and not cheap either. Now I just have to get FI to ring his best friend in the UK and convice him to come over to be his best man and all will be perfect!

I have been putting off booking a venue just incase no one could make it over (in which case it would be all my family and friends and a couple of his friends from over here, which is really a bit one sided) and we had to do it over seas.

YUSS!

That is WONDERFUL!!

I'm glad they'll be able to make it!

Maybe not as good as a proposal, but a guy who knows to buy you sparkly stuff to make a nice evening even nicer is pretty good too!

yeah, a gift is good too! A proposal is bound to happen, but a sparkly gift before it? Extra!

Sorry, I drank too much wine.

Yes!! We leave next Friday!! I'm so excited! Heck, i just can't wait to get out of town! I'm hoping to find a cute little dress this weekend. I'm super tall so everything is always too short. Anyway...

Anyone have any plans for Valentines Day? Our anniversary is close to that too so i'm not sure what we're doing!

Beesha -- so close!

We don't celebrate Valentine's Day (technically it is a Christian holiday) BUT.... chocolate & sparklies are on sale so we usually get some yummy chocolate (or go to a chocolate tasting!). I'm hoping he'll get my mega-sale *cough* just 1 month to my birthday *cough* hints and take me to look at possible sparkly b-day presents.

Good luck finding your dress!

We don't celebrate Valentine's Day either -- it has always seemed like such a made up holiday. It is the BF's birthday soon though so we may take a short trip somewhere to celebrate. It would be awesome if the proposal happened then but I'm pretty sure that isn't too likely.

Honestly, time seems to be flying by - we've been sooooo busy that I barely notice. Then I think about when we went ring browsing a couple of weeks ago and I get a little bit of LIW-itis

beesha - I hope you have an absolute blast in Napa! Not sure if you plan to, but definitely try to go over to Sonoma area too. The wineries there are a bit more laid back. If you like champagne the Korbel tour is free and you get lots of tastings! We also liked the Benziger Winery -- they do everything a step above organic - lots of gardens and beatiful sites (they don't use pesticides but plant gardens to attract the right kind of bugs to keep the bad ones out and raise their own animals to create organic manure for fertilization) and they give you a full tour on a little open trolley like thing and it ends in a wine cave - super cool.

We're going to look at rings tomorrow. I'm SO excited!

Thanks so much GamerGirl! I'm going to have to write all of this stuff down!!

HAve fun Nicolita!! So exciting!!

So he has been asking me a lot about rings, almost to the point of being antsy. I thought for sure he was going to pop the question this weekend in CA but now i don't think he is because it doesn't sound like he has the ring! Although he could be doing all of this just to throw me off so i don't expect it. AGHH! But our anniversary is the 20th. All these things! I'm going crazy with excitement!! :D

Just don't forget to have fun!

Maybe he has the ring but is questioning the one he picked? Like maybe he's afraid you won't like it?

Congratulations!!!

I'm so excitedddd! My jeweler (and my best friend's uncle!) is getting the settings that I picked out ready. He's going to try to have them all set by Monday since my man and I have Tuesdays off together. Then we get to go pick one and choose the diamond!

I've never really seen a loose diamond before we went to his shop the other day. Holy cow. SO BEAUTIFUL! Such sparkly little glorious gems! The uncles pick them out themselves on their annual trip to Europe. Is that normal for a little tiny independent jewelry shop? I have no idea! I'd think they would buy them from some big diamond company or something, haha.

I love that he's so personal and is giving us a really great deal. SO EXCITEDDDDDDDD!

Well, yesterday we went and did some shopping. We both got new iPhones and walked around the mall... We stopped at my work for me to grab my check. He took me to have Chinese food and we just laughed and had a great time all day! We went home and he was sitting next to me on the couch playing on his lap top... A few minutes later he grabbed my pink notebook and a pen and told me I had to wait in the living room because he was writing me a love letter. He has bought me cards just because before so I didn't think much of it... About 30 minutes later he went into the living room and told me to go into the bedroom... I was like wth? But ok...lol I'll just go with the flow. I started out looking in our bedroom and he told me the first "hint" is under my pillow... I thought wow cool, like a little treasure hunt type of thing! He had me running all over the house reading and giggling. He wrote on the 7 "hints" how he loves me more than he has ever loved anyone before, all mushy stuff and some jokes thrown in. On the last one it was on his gun I had bought him for Christmas. He wrote that he can't believe he found a good woman that is beautiful, smart, and sexy wrapped into one. Then it said come sit next to me on the couch and ask me what all this is about... So I did as the note thing said. I sat next to him and he pulled a blue box from behind his back and said "Will you Marry Me?" All I could do was stare! It was finally here!!! I started crying and said yes, omg yes! He started crying happy tears too... he put it on my finger and we hugged and kissed for quite a while... It was amazing!!!/user#/user#

Awwwww! That is so cute and sounds really you. Not that I know you but in the way that he did it so it would be personal and super cute. Congrats!

Congrats destinedpalmer :) awesome story and beautiful ring

its good to see a couple of ladies off the list... i hope we get some more this weekend!!

Jesse... how was jury duty?? My dad did it a couple of years ago and he had a horrible murder case, he hated it!!

My BF has had the ring for 2 months now (he doesnt know i know he has it) and it is still hidden in the same place under his bed  Who knows how long its going to take for him to give it to me!! Its our 4 years anni this saturday the 12th and my birthday on sunday the 13th but we are going to a wedding this weekend, so i dont think it will happen. BUT you never know!!!!!

Lots of Dust for everyone this weekend!! :appl:

awwwww... Congrats

O man, jury duty was hell, i felt like the crimanal, but i am so happy its done. It was a civil trial, between the local police department and a man. He sued because he felt his 4th amendant right was revoked( cant think of the word), and he sufferred injuries. We ruled in the mans favor, and he got 2,111,0656.52 in the end.

Holy cow! When I had jury duty we all had to arrive at the court house at 7 A.M. Then they sequestered us for three hours. They began taking a few people out here and there and then at noon we all went into the court room. That's when they asked certain people to come up and screened them. That went on for an hour or so and then they sent me home. Grrrrrr!

I did see my favorite teacher from middle school though! He had jury duty too.

Same thing here, went in at 7 am, sat around for about an hour, went up to the court house, my name was called in the first round of questions, and than i sat up there ALL DAY, than was ordered by the judge to be a jury. I told him i was a college student but he didnt care. Than the trail was for almost 2 weeks 2 weeks, and i had the seat closest to the witness stand, so i had to pay attention. Sucked, Judge fell asleep a few times. Than for deliberation, was stuck in a room of people for about 4 or 5 hours. What i hated was missing school, its being so boring, and than we were had to park was about 10 blocks away from the courthouse. So glad its done, and i cant wait to get my paper to prove i did it, and get my check. LoL....

40 Dollars a dayx 8 days= :D

I lucked out. I'm sorry it screwed you over in the school department. I don't even know what I'd do if I missed nearly two weeks of class. Geez. I hope your professors understand and are helpful!

Thank you so much. MOST of my professors are understanding, and im just about caught up. Its really hard, because i have 6 classes. I actually had a professor tell me" Your a smart girl, im not worried about you getting caught up. Personally, i feel that your time was better spent in court, than in my class. You got to help someone, and change a persons life, that is worth so much more" :o
