VICTORY IS MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some of C's coworkers are trying to give him money to help me make a cake for the guy leaving/company. I told him to not take it, but make the guy buy a cake for his next function. LoL...

Keep it up and you'll have your own bakery business in no time!

I'm serious -- you love to bake and do nice work. (apparently just as tasty as they are pretty!)

Thank you too- i think it will still be awhile. For some reason my cakes were sticking and i had to doctors them up, but they arent quite level. Good thing im putting pretty decorations on them, and you wont be able to tell.

Heres the cake so far....needs a lot more touches, but its comming together.

Wow!

Look at that cake! It is like a card game on a cake :appl:

Thanks Too, Today is Delivery day....now this is what im neverous about :errrr: . How was Harry Potter??

Harry Potter was good. Even if you don't go see it in a theater, it is worth it. (there were scenes that were much more interesting on the IMAX screen than they would be on an average tv)

We walked into the theater and some of the administrative people for the team (work team, not sports) were upgrading people to IMAX so we ended up seeing it in 3D IMAX. Pretty nice theater actually -- leather (I think it is actually a fake leather) seats that are nice and padded and the backs recline.

The movie itself was pretty good. I'm glad we watched the 1st part before seeing it because I don't think we would have understood what was going on otherwise. I'd give it something like 4 stars out of 5 (which for me is pretty good because very few make it to 5!).

I'm still not thrilled about the shift to 3D in the theaters though. Last time we saw one I had a massive headache and sick to the stomach the entire time. I found this time that I didn't feel sick and got less of a headache if I took my regular glasses off and only wore their special glasses. Also, due to my eyesight issues I was pretty uncomfortable for some hours after the movie ended. Still a little off today even. (Have you ever focused your eyes on something close to your face and had them cross? That tight, pulling feeling is what I have been dealing with as my one eye is still turning itself in a bit and not focusing where it should.)

O wow, sounds like you had a good time. I plan on seeing it next week, by myself in the theatre. Its the last one, i gotta see it on the big screen. LoL....

I have actually havent seen any movies in 3D in the theatre's. EVER...so i dont really know how it makes you feel. I think i would have a hard time, because i wear glasses, or contacts, and it seems like it might be too much of a strain on the eyes. How long was the movie??

You'll have fun!

2 hours plus a bit. Previews are NOT 3D so that doesn't add to the time.

I don't think it is all people with glasses. B didn't have any problem with headache this time. His only complaint was that he could see some places where the image didn't quite line up. He watched the movie with the 3D glasses over his regular glasses.
Other people didn't seem to have problems either. The last one we went to did give some people headaches, but I haven't heard that response this time.

My vision is a bit different. I don't see much of anything out of one eye but the other is near 20/20. They've always been this way. My glasses help to force my eye to do some work. Before I had glasses (and even with some of my earlier glasses) the one eye would do everything and the other wasn't really used at all. It was (is) so bad that the non-working eye would actually sort of cross. This still happens sometimes, but not often since I got my new glasses (and used an eye patch for a little each day).
I have trouble with things like the eye test for drivers licenses where you have to look into something and read. Binoculars are also not really possible for me to use.

So.... my bad reaction is NOT what most people would experience. A bit of a headache after seemed common on the last one, but I haven't heard that from this one (in fact, I've heard people comment that it didn't bother them as much (or at all) this time).

If you do start getting a headache or seeing the picture wrong (you'll know if you do -- it is not subtle at all), you could try watching with just the 3D and not your regular glasses.
Contacts might not be an issue? I wonder if part of the headache thing is caused by the 3D glasses shifting the regular a little out of place so the prescription doesn't quite line up right? If so, contacts might actually be no problem at all.

OMG....the cake made it from my house, to his job, through the warehouse! YAY. my first delivery was successful, and all of Chuck's coworkers are asking if i make cakes professionally and if i have a website !!!

Look at that cake! I've seen cake competition shows where they transport those things and it looks SUPER scary. All that work and one little bump could ruin it all

Is that C? He looks pleased with the cake you made.

Thanks Too, it is a serious wreck to the nervous to deliever a cake. Normally, a lot of places deliever it in mulitple parts, but i didnt have that kind of room or freedom, so it was delivered all together. The LONGEST 45 minute ride in my life.

Yes, thats C, he was pleased with the cake, i dont know why he cant ever smile in pictures, he has the best smile ever.

How was your weekend??

Im in the process of caking ANOTHER cake right now, for a friends daughters birthday/ * Sigh*, i swear 2 or 3 more free sample cakes, and im gonna start charging.

45 minutes? Yikes!
The cakes I took for my grandparents anniversary party were not frosted (just filled & layered) so that I could put the frostings on at the location to prevent damage. That drive was about 45 minutes and it was AWFUL! I can't imagine doing that with a completed cake

Some guys just seem unable to smile for pictures. Don't know what the issue is. I just call it "a guy thing"

I think you'd be great at cake baking professionally. Or even starting a bakery with other yummy stuff too.

How was your weekend?

I wound up getting sick on Friday night right after dinner. Still don't know why, but I was miserable and spent the rest of the evening laying on the couch while B took care of the animals, cleared the table, ran some laundry, did the dishes, made the bed
After that, we decided to skip going to the airshow we'd wanted to go to.

We planted some tomato plants on Sunday. Due to the lousy weather, we were going to just skip it this year but QFC had a bunch on sale 2/$1. Bought 6 of them. 2 plants each of 3 varieties. Looking okay so far but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Sunday was 89 degrees and sunny here. Monday was 63 degrees and raining. (by raining I mean absolute downpour that drainage on some streets couldn't keep up with  )

Thanks Too, sorry i didnt check in today, was busy making cakes!!! ;( :errrr: ...i swear, im gonna start charging now, i cant keep making cakes for free.

Im sorry you got Sick Friday night, it always suck when you get sick during your weekend, BUT at least B took care of you and the house.

The plants on sale sounds nice, it too hot here to plant anything, it usually dies unless its a cactus unless you water it daily!! I so envy your weather of 63 and rainy. Im tired of the heat, and we havent even hit on highs.

I swear its a guy thing to not smile, i hate that he doesnt. I LOVE his smile and it kills me. Theres times when he just does this smile, that stops my heart STILL, almost 4 years later. Its like there is a twinkle, and small smile lines around the eyes. LOVE IT....Lol....

I went and bought some clothes this week for my trip. I gotta fight with my bank about some charges on my account that they dont want to reverese and its screwing things up. I really HATE my bank, and wish i could swtich. Im already packing for my vacation, whenever i buy something i put it in the luggage i plan on taking, so a week before the trip, all i have to do is wash a few items, and put in makeup.

So whats your plans for your weekend? Nothing here, C and i will be going through his mothers stuff and donating items. I swear that if we dont sleep in on one of hsi days off, im going to go nuts. ( I slept maybe 3/4 hours last night, and i think ill get the same tonight).

O heres my cake from my last class tonight.

Pretty! You really should charge for at least supplies. Cakes like that aren't exactly cheap to make (especially when you've been doing so many) and take a lot of time. Maybe you can start at something like cost of supplies + $20 --- then as you get more practiced and more in demand up the prices a bit.
Are you keeping pictures of all of your cakes? You should if you aren't already. If you stick them in a book or on a website you'd have a pretty good start on a cake portfolio.

Sorry about the heat. I've been hearing about how awful it is through most of the country. It sounds just miserable.

Most of our plants are just loving the weather here this year. The rain has been keeping them all watered and even on cloudy days they get a fair amount of sunlight (usually) when there are little gaps in the clouds.
People aren't doing as well. It is so super frustrating/depressing/sad when you make it through a long fall/winter/spring with lots of cloud & rain and just generally oppressive darkness only to find that summer isn't really happening. The commercials to get stuff ready for fall weather have already started! I guess one way to put it is that the nice (70-80 and sunny) summer and some okay parts of spring/fall (60-70 with some sun) is what gets us all through the long months of fall/winter/spring where it is dark all day. It gets so super depressing (we actually have a very high rate of depression and suicide around here) when it is so dark even during the middle of the day that you have to have all the lights on in the house and you can't tell what time it is since 6pm looks just like 2am which looks just like 6am....

Not sure about the weekend yet. We might be meeting the guy who has the same airplane we do so that we can get measurements on a special adapter part that we need to have custom made. (you'd think that one of the people who's already done this would have kept the measurements and stuff.... Okay, well most (all?) of the ones that have this special adapter bought the adapter from one guy who made a working design and had a whole batch made instead of just the one he needed and sold the rest. Of course now that we need one the guy doesn't have any left but will make us one if we want to order a full batch of 20 from him.... and he's not willing to share the design  ). Anyway, we could design a part ourselves but since it is a rather critical part (failure would mean serious damage and potential injuries) we'd rather stick to the one that others are already using and has been around for some years with no problems. If we can get measurements and pictures we can take them to a machine shop we've used before and have the part made to our specifications.
We don't have to have the adapter, but it makes life a lot easier (and less expensive) if we do since without it we'd have to use some original parts that aren't manufactured much anymore and would have to be special ordered from Europe.

Thanks Too- i started a website actually. jessiessweettreats.blogspot.com/ ...i made it a few days ago. I am going to start charging for supplies at least. Its getting pricey and i want to make a little bit of a profit. I just dont know how to get people ot pay, and its so weird to charge. All of C's coworkers keep asking if i do it for a living, and saying they would pay for a cake, lets just hope they really do.

See, ill trade you weather, i think i would like dark and overcast. Coming from Vegas where is sunny all the time, i get tired of it. I always knew up there had a high depression rate, but ive never understood it myself. Im sure your plants would love it.

See you can start putting money away if you you and B order something for the plane. LoL....it would be a good way to start the wedding fund. I dont understand planes, but C does...lol...all i care is that they get me to where i need safely. Silly i know

Great website! I love how colorful and fun your cakes are.

I think we all need a match-making website for house trading.... You live in sunny place for a few months, I live in dark/rainy place for a few months then we switch!
Of course school and work would probably not be too happy :cheeky:

Thanks too, i gotta get some business cards so when i drop off free cake or talk to someone, i can hand them my card. LoL

Oooo, that sounds good, i would totally do a trade. LoL....Where can i sign up??

Kinkos does decent business cards. One of the guys I work for likes super high quality linen, multi-color, with raised printing. Got him a box of 500 for just under $100
If you don't have to have raised ink and are okay with a non-linen cardstock it is even less.

Staples and other office supply places offer DIY business cards. (just perforated cardstock). Some is okay quality and some is not great. The office printer can't manage them (separate in the printer and get all jammed up) but my printer at home does.

Im actually going to order them from online, i looked at Vistaprint, ill order a small amount, and if i like them, i will order a large amount. I COULD print them at home, but than i think ill screw it up, i know my luck. LoL...

I print them for one of the guys in the office here and they can be a bit picky. He hardly ever uses them (like 10/year or so) so it isn't all that important to him that they be super great quality. Sometimes they are smudgy. Cardstock quality is a pain since I only get a small box every few years and by then I can't find the stuff I'd gotten before.

The other guy in the office is super picky about quality so his have to be specially ordered.

Sorry been MIA, i have had a headache/Migraine for the past 2 days. It goes away for a few hours, but than comes back. How is your week going??

That sounds miserable. Hope you're feeling better now.

B sent me an e-mail Monday morning asking me to pick him up from work because he was sick (we only have the one car). He's been dizzy and sick all week. The dizziness comes/goes, but I don't feel good leaving him alone all day so I've called in sick all week (which isn't exactly a lie since I really haven't felt well either) and just left for chemistry class each day.

I'm in the office for an hour this morning trying to get our monthly compliance stuff sent in so I can get back home to make sure B is okay.

My head feels a bit better today, but not much. Im sure ill have another headache by the end of the day.

I am so sorry, that B hasnt felt well, and yourself. Please watch him, and take care of yourself, and him. If he isnt better by monday, go see a MD

So today I'm glad that we pushed the wedding off until next year. I get sad sometimes but then I get reminded of why it was just a bad time to pick.

Our original date falls on the weekend of a pretty major concert so we would have spent the rehearsal and set up time (and possibly ceremony & reception  ) listening to music bounce off the cliffs.

The 2nd choice date also had a conflict that would have left many of our guest choosing between celebrating with us or another family.

And.... I just found out (actually I think I was told a few months ago...) that the Rabbi's son is getting married on our 3rd choice date! (so the day B would be doing stuff in services would be the same day as the Rabbi's son and we wouldn't be able to host a lunch that day for everyone because the congregation is having a big catered event for the Rabbi's son)

How's your headache?

Final exam tomorrow :errrr: :appl:

The head is getting better, its a slow painful process.

How did you do on your final??? Congrats on being done.

Last mid-term exam was Monday. We'll get those grades back today. Final exam is tomorrow.
I'm so excited to be done for the quarter but really wishing there was another week or two to get ready for the final

Isnt that how it always is?? But being close to done is way better than having an extra week.

WooHOooooo!!!!
I am DONE with summer quarter!!!

I took yesterday off of work so that I could get some extra sleep, go over the midterms from the quarter, and go into the final relaxed. I think it really helped. I walked in calm and didn't get stressed at all even during the exam.

Now comes the waiting. She said she'd try to post grades within a few days...
