The Official TTC Thread!

Ok ladies, I have two questions.

First, I took the basic subscription for FertilityFriend and my chart there says I O''d on day 18, the last day of EW CM, and my coverline at 97.6 (how do they calculate it?). However, my TCOYF chart says I O''d on day 19, the day after the last day of EW, and my coverline is 97.8 (0.1F over the 6 previous temps). So... who''s right, and why?

Second, does implantation spotting usually last several days? I can''t seem to find much info on the length of that.

Thanks for helping out a confused first-timer!

Anchor,

I can't help with the coverline thing (still don't know how they determine it!!), but I've read that the coverline is really just a visual means for us to see the shift in our temps after ovulation. So I don't think .1 difference really means all that much. As for day of ovulation, no matter what day it gives you on any program, it can be off by a day either way. Hmm. I do wonder what made one program choose one day and another the next, though. Very interesting indeed.

Lots of the girls here (and graduates!!) know tons about charting; I'm sure they'll chime in, too.

Spotting... I'm not a spotter at all, so I don't have any personal information on that, but my best friend who's pregnant had spotting the four days leading to when she should have had her period and didn't. She's due in November. I wanna say that can be different for everyone, though.

Good luck to you, my dear!!

We're off for a mini-trip this weekend. The painting will have to wait til Sunday. That's okay. My baby won't even notice it yet!

Have a wonderful weekend, ladies! Happy thoughts, happy thoughts all around!!

Anchor- Can you post your charts? I''m just curious. Personally I think FF is a little off and I tended not to trust them because their calculations aren''t customizable like TCOYF. I think the coverline is determined to be a certain number of degrees above your average low temp. Does that make sense? I feel like it''s .3degrees. For example my average low temps are around 97.4 and my coverline is usually drawn around 97.7. Not 100% sure though. If you have the book, it tells you how to draw your own coverline for paper charts so that would answer your question.

As for Implantation Spotting. Personally, I would tend to think that it would only be one day because in theory, it happens the moment the egg implants itself. That said, I''m sure women can spot a few days and still be pregnant (lots of women spot early on in a pregnancy). I just don''t think that type of spotting is caused by implantation... just would have happened anyway. That''s just my hunch.....

Anchor- I had implantation spotting with my third pregnancy on the day my period was due (I had already gotten my BFP a few days earlier so I did know I was pregnant). I thought I was having an early miscarriage but my OB said no, it was implantation spotting. It was like pink/brownish discharge and lasted just the one day. I''ve read quite a bit online about implantation bleeding and a lot of sites say that it happens a week or so before AF, but for me that was not the case!

Thanks for all your replies!

I can be a huge spotter (but not every cycle), which is why I don''t know what to make of it this cycle... We''ll see I guess.

Since mia asked, here are the 2 charts. Lots of spotting; started out as a light tinged CM on 5 and 6DPO, then pre-AFish up to today. If my past cycles are any indication, AF should be coming this weekend.

Nice chart(s) Anchor!

So my thoughts.... TCOYF is also taking into account your other fertility signs so if you trust what you recorded go with that. In other words, you put that your cervix closed, so that would indicate you ovulated that day. If you don''t want the software to take these things into account you can always change calculations to "temps only." You can try it and see if it changes the O date. Either way, it was definitely one of the two days going by your charts, may have even happened late on the earlier night. Your BD line looks great, so I am crossing my fingers for you!

anchor, do you usually have spotting for a few days like that, each cycle? It does seem a bit too much to be considered implantation spotting, which usually happens for a day or two. Your BD timing was pretty good! Are you going to test, or just wait the cycle out?

Feb - I can see why you would be confused! The fact that that blue line came up within the time limit would make me suspicious, too. The only thing is I''ve read that blue dye tests are notorious for giving very convincing evap lines... I hope that''s not the case for you. I would agree wtih retesting with a FRER, with FMU, just to be sure.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Thanks for the replies! Doing the "temps only" calculations on the TCOYF chart doesn''t change anything, so I dunno. I don''t spot as much every cycle, but it has happened before. I''m planning on testing on Monday if AF has come properly by then.

Feb, did you re-test? Is anyone testing soon?

Anchor- I don''t have any knowledge on charting/temps/etc. but I have my fingers crossed for you!!!
Fisher- Have a fun get away!
Sha- I did a yahoo search on "Target False Positives" and one of the first links was to the Target page to buy the tests. It had over 24 reviews and I think 20 of them stated that the "positive" line showed up immediately and the women weren''t actually pregnant. Apparently the test is that bad. So I''m definitely not counting those tests as accurate.

I haven''t tested yet and I do have 2 First Response tests left. I''m just waiting until Tuesday to see if AF comes. I''m not sure when I''ll test if AF is late. I should be spotting by now and there''s nothing so that gives me a little hope. I''ll find out soon enough!

Well, I''m out. CD1.

I''m so sorry Feb

Ugh sorry Feb.

Hugs to you feb.

Sorry Feb.

Anchor- That''s funny it didn''t change. Your right then, it has more to do with how the software calculated the coverline then. How is your spotting? I keep looking at your chart and thinking it seems to early for Menses spotting, but maybe some people do spot that early. On the other hand, it does seem too long to be cause by implantation. How long have you been off of BC?

Mia - The spotting is lighter today, which is kind of weird. I''m at CD33, 14DPO today. I had another temp spike, 98.5 yesterday and today down to 98.1. I have had 34 day cycle before (had one just last month), so I''ll wait before I test. I really don''t feel like getting a BFN hours before AF comes, and tests are too expensive to waste!

Sorry about AF, feb...

Those blue-dye tests are just evil.

Anchor, that''s interesting about the temp spike. Do keep us updated...

Oh Feb, I''m sorry. I really hate how those tests fooled you. Blue dye is BAD! (I wonder why blue is so much different than the pink??) I hope you never get fooled again. It''s awful!!

Anchor,

I hear you on not wanting to test and see a negative only to have the period start a few hours later. I''ve finally gotten to where I just realize that testing too often is *not* good for me. I get too much anxiety over it. Ech.

So, I *thought* I ovulated on CD14, but I in fact did not. Thought yesterday that maybe I''d had my first "fall back" temp rise after ovulation, but no, not that, either. Most odd. So, this morning I had a big dip, and now I''m thinking maybe I''ll ovulate soon or am doing so today. I don''t know. CD17 would be a-okay with me!

So sorry feb.

Feb, I''m sorry!!

Happy Monday, ladies!

Hope everyone''s week goes wonderfully!! Today''s a work holiday for me, and tomorrow is my Furlough day, so I''m pretty happy! One of my friends with an adorable 4 year old is a stay at home mom and on my Furlough days, we often get together and that''s always fun. I still have to paint (can''t get that border to come down all the way!!!), but that shouldn''t take long at all... I''m looking forward to time with Gracie (she''s a hot mess and so much fun!!).

Still no crosshairs today. Funny how just one cycle of *normalcy* can make you think that all''s in order again in your world... I am on an upward trend (I hope) and will get the crosshairs soon. I kind of got my heart set on testing on Mother''s Day. Oh well... whenever is fine.

A friend of mine at work and I have been walking during lunch hour (3 to 3.5 miles a day) and guess it''s already become part of my daily habits, because even though I''m not working today, I''m going to go to the park close the house and walk there. I''ll probably take the dogs, too. They get walked every evening with me and Paul, but an extra one would be fun for them, I''m sure.

Feb, I hope today brings new hope!

So sorry Feb!

This sounds promising! So does this mean you''re testing Wednesday if no AFF?

I''m so sorry Feb...those tests really are evil

So sorry Feb. For me, I waited until I was late. I just couldn''t take the back and forth, like you just experienced. Then again, I was so sure I wasn''t preggo, it was easy to wait. Onwards and upwards!!!!

Fishie- I meant to say this awhile back- go to the dentist NOW. I had gone right before I got preggo and had to have cavities filled. Thankfully I did, because you shouldn''t do x-rays and such in your first trimester. And when you get preggo, it can wreak havoc on your teeth, so get everything taken care of beforehand. Although I luckily had the cavities done, I ended up needing a root canal the WEEK I found out I was pregnant. It was really miserable and so stressful to have to do it and make those decisions in my first trimester. I ended up having to do the root canal and get x-rays which they really don''t recommend in the first. My dentist kinda made me feel really bad about it, like "bad timing on your part". My OB, thank God, was very calm and said it was totally safe as long as I used certain precautions. Still, I was freaked out and already worried that I was being a "bad" mom and such by having it taken care of. And I am pretty calm and don''t stress much- from your posts I have a feeling you might be a tiny bit more neurotic about this stuff than me.
2.gif
So just go now!!!! Also, I had to have a gum transplant before, and it wasn''t that big of a deal. Expensive though.

InLuv- Congrats on losing weight!!! That is awesome, and you will feel so much better going into pregnancy in a strong and healthy place. It will make your pregnancy a lot easier.

Hi to all the other lovely ladies here. Hope you have a good Monday. We are due for a positive streak around here!!! I was looking at the Preggos in Waiting list and WOW there was a boom for November due dates. Seems like it always happens in groups. Crossing my fingers for you all!

ok, this is a TMI question....

i''ve heard alot about CM and ''egg whites'' but i''m still confused. Tgal makes it sounds like you def know what it is when you see it..but is it like egg whites as in raw egg or cooked egg? i feel so stupid asking that, but i just am sooo curious.

also what does it mean when sent ''sticky vibes''?
Uh, well...

OK, if this is TMI, sorry...
Keep in mind, I have only seen this ONCE in 14 years and am no authority on CM. I was on the pill from 20''s on, and my first ovulation was the charm. What I saw when I wiped after going to the loo was like one big blob of slightly off colored snotty luggy. I mean, it was on my tissue and OBVIOUS.

I told TGuy I was ovulating because I had tw*t snot, and he nearly fell over. I apologize for the crudeness, but that''s honestly how I got pregnant.

OMG YOU ALMOST MADE ME PISS MYSELF WITH YOU T*** SNOT COMMENT! I"M DYING OVER HERE! You know, you should really warn ppl before you do that, lol! ROTFL!

Hey redrose! Another TTC newbie!
35.gif

Thanks robbie and inluv! Yes, I should be testing on Wednesday if AF doesn't show up tomorrow.

I have a confession to make... I am terrified of testing. Last month, we thought I was pregnant. I had a 34 days cycle (which is not that unusual for me however; my average is 31) and I had quite a few symptoms, which just turned out to be bad PMS. I tested on day 34 and got a BFN. I was devastated and confused, only to have AF visit the morning after.
15.gif
It made me realised how badly I wanted this (J's been ready for a while now), so we decided to move up our "timeframe" and start TTCing now. So, here I am, CD34 again, no more spotting since yesterday (unfortunately this morning's 98.1 temp doesn't mean much since I took it 2 hours earlier than normal), no AF, and desperately not trying to get my hopes up.

There is quite a history of fertility issues on my mother's side of the family. My grand-mother has uterine fibroids and had an infertile sister (reason unknown), and it took my mother 7 YEARS to conceive (reason still unknown). So infertility is something I've been wondering about for a very long time. Part of me is convinced there is no way I could be pregnant on the first try, part of me wants to believe that I could be. This is the 15th cycle I've charted and things seem to be pretty "normal"; I ovulate, my cycles are more or less regular (28-34) and my LP varies from 12 to 14 days. So... who knows?

This TTC stuff is a lot more emotional challenging than I thought it would be!
