The Official TTC Thread!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Missy your DH will come along I'm sure. Sometimes it takes a while for guys to "Get it." I took a week for my DH to be convinced, and even then it wasn't until the first U/S that he was actually truly convinced and then he wanted to tell everyone.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

CONGRATS MERRY, MEGUMIC, and MISSY! :appl: :appl:

Missy- My first BFP was a clear as day with the + sign and my DH was like, well it could be false positive, right? Ummm NO. Silly men.

PPM- So glad you don't have to wait. They also say that you are more fertile the cycle right after a m/c. I think Jas got preggo her first cycle after a m/c recently.

Sugarpie- Boo on AF. :angryfire: Another month of sexy time for you!

Brightspot- I think you will be KTFU soon. I don't think seeing an RE is a bad thing- it's just getting you to that baby that much quicker.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

MISSY!!! Yayayay! dust to you lady!! congratulations!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Oh my gosh Megumic!!! Yay for your BFP! That is amazing! Congratulations! This is so exciting!! :appl: :appl:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Megumic congrats!!! :appl: sending you tons of sticky dust! I also enjoyed your bfp thread. Lots of good info for the symptom conscious ttcers.

That's funny about all of the "M" bfps lately. Here's hoping you're next, monkey!!

China, thanks. =) I hope so. I'm definitely happy to see the re. Unfortunately this isn't my month as af is here with a vengeance today.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Sorry for the me-centered post. I just got back my results from the CD3 tests (after playing phone tag all morning). The good news is that everything was normal, which I suspected it would be given my age, etc. (I did make sure to ask them to send me the results, so I can actually read the numbers, because who knows what they call "normal.") Anyway, I'm a little frustrated because the nurse I talked to told me that the doctor said they do not normally run the CD21 (7DPO) tests. What? I told her that based on my research, my progesterone level would be helpful information to have. She said that she would run it by the doctor and find out what she recommends. I'm feeling frustrated right now because I'm guessing I will need to see an RE to get any real answers, and as I've mentioned before, we don't have coverage for fertility testing or treatment. I just want answers now, and I feel no closer to getting them. Sorry, I don't want to rain on the BFP parade we've got going on, but I just need to vent a moment. Maybe I should be posting in the 6 months or more thread....

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Bright, sorry about AF. I really hope you find a great RE and get the answers you need quickly. I think some names of PS recommended NYC REs are in the thread way back if you do a search.

MP, if your doctor won't do the test, I am sure you can find another one who will without seeing an RE since your insurance won't cover the RE. Keep on advocating for yourself, and you will get what you want. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Jgator, thanks. =) I have a re recommendation from my ob who takes my insurance, so I'm going to give that a shot. Crmi looks amazing but not sure if they take Oxford. (I did email them to find out-waiting to hear back).

MP, ditto to jgator's post. Surely if you request the progesterone test (persistently if needed) :wink2: , your doc will run it. Also, are you temping? I believe there's a lp temp pattern discussed in the mb book (saddle shaped?) that can indicate low progesterone.
That's great that your lh/fsh came back normal! Has your dh done an SA?
Hope you can get some answers soon. And I think it's perfectly ok to post about this stuff here. This thread is here to support us through all phases of the ttc journey, right? Hugs.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

MP- Don't ever apologize for discussing what you're going through! This thread is for the good, bad and ugly. And honestly, it takes many many women more than 6 months so I don't think you need to banish yourself over there. ;)) I would be frustrated too- but I agree with what the other ladies said- be persistant and be your own advocate. The dr just doesn't "normally" run those tests, but I can't see why he/she wouldn't if you requested it. Have you told your dr that you can't see an RE, so you are relying upon him/her for this stuff? I know we hate to be pushy, but who cares. Be as pushy as you need to be.

Bright- A vengeful AF is just a little too much don't you think? :angryfire: Like shooting someone after you've already stabbed them. Overkill. Just do your business quietly and move on, lady! (AF, not you!)

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

China, I know! I've been on my feet all day & eyeing a plush sofa on set. Upon closer inspection (& to add insult to injury) I saw a sign that said it was reserved for expectant mothers. :(sad

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Shut up BrightSpot! That's cruel. Now it's like you've been stabbed, then shot, and then some guy ran over you on his bicycle while you lie there bleeding. And he's whistling. And he doesn't even say sorry (you live in NYC, after all). Girl get thee home and put on sweatpants and eat ice cream. Out of the tub. Order pizza. Drink wine. Take a bath. In short, treat yourself like a bad romantic comedy.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Holy BFPs! Congrats, ladies!

Also, continued hugs and support for everyone on this journey. I continue to send all of you warm wishes!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

China, I couldn't believe it but I also couldn't make this up if I tried. I'll see if I can snap a pic. :Up_to_something: Thanks for the laugh!
That sounds like a pretty great plan for this evening.

Jas, good to see you. Hope you're feeling well & bean is baking away. :wavey:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

OMG!!!

Missy and MM -

CONGRATULATIONS! This is so awesome...

I had my first Dr.'s appt yesterday. I have to say that I was so nervous they were going to tell me something I did not want to hear, but everything checked out great! I will be 5 weeks tomorrow. They took an ultrasound and I saw the gestational sac - baby is a growing! I hope it all goes well from this point on. No morning sickness yet, just very sore and swollen breasts.

I have my fingers crossed for all of the ladies on here that are still trying... Best of luck!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congratulations to our latest rash of BFP's! Keep them coming ladies! ::) I wonder if this latest round of four is a record!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thank you so much ladies - choro, S&I, PPM, Brightspot, Sugarpie, CentralSquare, Clairtek, Megumic, Stephbolt, Monkey, LC, Chinacat, Jas, SQ, and Tammy - thanks for all the sticky dust! It is still a little overwhelming right now but I am so excited.

(total me-centric post)
Long story about telling DH:
So last night I was trying to think of some way to tell DH, so I stopped and got a basic "I love you" card and wrote inside "I just want to let you know that I'm positive that I love you! I put the card on the TV stand figuring that it would take him a few minutes to tell me hello, tell our dog hello, talk about dinner and his day. So I figured that when he was ready to watch TV would be a good time to tell him. He walked in the door and started telling me about his day and fairly quickly saw the envelope he said "Its not my birthday, that's nice honey" at this point I had to turn around and unload the dishwasher so my face didn't give it away. He opened the envelope and sets the card face down and takes five minutes to finish telling me about his site visit that morning. I thought I was going to die, I was nervous and excited but I didn't want to rush him, so I just nod along and make ahum comments cause I have no idea what the man was actually talking about, my heart was beating so loud! So FINALLY he reads the card and nothing...he says "I love you too honey" and starts walking away. I called him back and said "There is more to that card honey, you need to look at it closer" so he re-reads, looks puzzled at me and then his eyes went as wide a saucers. "Really, are you? Really? This is amazing".... he came over and gave me a huge hug and a kiss and said that he was so excited. He might have had a few tiny tears leak out but he would never admit it to a living soul. He was very sweet. I showed him the digi and he was just smiling like crazy. The funniest part was later in the evening he said "At least we know I'm not shooting blanks!"

It was tough waiting to tell him, but I am glad it worked out that he came home from work last night instead of tonight!! I don't think I would have made it.

I went to work as usual yesterday and today but it feels like I am just going through the motions. In the back of my mind is this little loop that runs: "pregnant, pregnant, pregnant, baby, baby, pregnant, baby" repeat ad nausium. I guess I'm just trying to process it all. For months I have spent thinking, reading, planning, and trying to have a baby and then in the blink of an eye I realize that I AM going to do all these things I have been dreaming about for over a year! It is certainly surreal!

I really have not had many symptoms so far, just the odd cramp here or there on the right side of my uterus and maybe some very minor lower back aches. I hope this is a strong sticky bean. I called my Dr. today to see when they would want to see me. The scheduler said not until I'm 8 weeks, so that is a long wait. I hope it goes by very quickly!

Thanks for listening to me babble, I am just so happy and am continuing to cross my fingers for all of you!!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats on the BFPs, Meg, Merry, and Missy! WOO HOO! :appl:

Missy, my DH didn't get very excited when I showed him my first positive FRER. He thought the lines should be darker, and I don't think he believed me! The "PREGNANT" display on the CBE digi the next morning did the trick. He was totally on board and completely thrilled! The display only lasts about an hour, so take a picture! :wink2:

Make that FIVE. :Up_to_something: I got a BFP about 12 days ago. I am 6 weeks today, and have my first doctor appointment on October 4 (next Tuesday). I was really trying to wait to announce it till then, but feel bad keeping it from all of you!

I am just really really nervous after our last loss and am worried about "jinxing" it. Which is silly, I know, but we all know how emotional we get about this stuff. More than that, I have quite a few PS'ers as friends on another site, and by announcing it here, it sort of announces it there and that's way more public.

So anyone on FB, PLEASE don't announce this or call me out yet! I obviously don't mind if you know, but I want to wait to go public until I feel a bit more out of the woods.

I will still be here cheering you ladies on. It's hard not to get invested and I can't wait till each and every one of you gets your BFP.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Great news ChinaCat! :appl: I knew you had something you weren't sharing, but I did not want to call you out on it. Good luck at your appointment, and I wish you a well deserved sticky bean and a happy and healthy 9 months.

MerryMary, I love how you told your hubby and his reaction! See you over at JBP.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Oh my gosh Chinacat, you totally held out on us  Congrats!!!!!!!!

I totally understand wanting to wait to tell. I'm on the fence about telling work already. We're at our busy time and I've been lifting 40 pound boxes of catalogs, because the men here don't offer to help. Well now I'm not so sure it's safe to be doing that and I know if I just say it's too heavy they'll give me crap about it with without giving a good reason. I am also being overloaded with work and tried to explain to my boss what projects I have so he can spread the work out and he just says "Well that shouldn't be a problem getting done. Work faster, that's all I can say, just work faster." :o So needless to say I had my first emotional/cry like a baby breakdown when I left to go to the post office to pick up the work mail. I don't know if I can handle this stress and might need to tell him that the way he is acting towards me is just not gonna fly right now!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats ChinaCat! I think we all knew you had gotten your BFP when you mentioned AF was late but never reported back, but I completely understand your desire to keep it quiet until you feel a bit more secure about it, especially given your previous loss. Sending sticky dust your way!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

China, I just wanted to pop in to congratulate you! Sending a truckload of sticky dust your way.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Wow, congrats to all 5 super lucky ladies!! Maybe we can keep this streak going for the next two months? :appl:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks everyone! As nervous as I am, it's still a relief to be able to share the news.

It seems like these things often happen in waves on this board. When I got mine and then Sphenequeen, I had a feeling we'd have a wave. But 5 is a lot!!! :appl:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congratulations China! Hoping for a super sticky bean for you!

I've been trying to keep up on my phone while on vacation. Had a fantastic trip and I'm sad to be at the airport now waiting for our flight home. Seeing Clairitek was awesome and I adore the Sf area... Beautiful weather and scenery, amazing wine, wish I could stay here! Thought I would O early on the trip but am just seeing the start of a line this morning so I bet tonight or tomorrow Am I will get a full positive. Probably makes for better BD timing that way though! Will have to see if I can jump DH tonight after a long day of travel.

Thinking good thoughts to all of you ladies! Keep the BFPs coming!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Wow, ladies! The BFP train has definitely rolled into town--congrats to all of you!!

MP, Any luck with your doc office about doing the CD21/7DPO test so that you can avoid going to an RE if at all possible? It seems like if the CD3 test results were normal, they would immediately want to hone in on the 7DPO test to see what happening on the other side of ovulation, you know? Like you said, progesterone levels are important and it seems so odd to do one, but not do the other?

Also, since you mentioned the 6 months or more thread, I just wanted to remind you that the thread was created to protect those who'd been trying for a long time from seeing all of the "we've been trying for 23 minutes and I got my positive" posts. Obviously, it's not that those who've been trying for a long time don't want the newbies to get their BFP, it's just a real kick in the pants when you've been trying for 6+ months. It definitely WAS NOT created to protect the new-to-TTC from the "trying for a long time stinks" posts. So don't ever worry about being a Debbie Downer because I can promise you every single woman has empathy for another woman who's been trying for several months. I want to make sure you feel cheered on because we are all cheering for you, nobody feels you're a Debbie Downer. But if you need a bit of emotional protection by moving to the other thread, that's understandable. I'm thinking about you tons and know that one day you'll have your baby and this will all be a distant memory.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats to Megumic and ChinaCat, too!! WOW! Lots of great news around these parts!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Congrats, China Cat!!! You certainly have some willpower, holding out on us for that long!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

China, I think MP hit the nail on the head when she said that we all knew something was up with you when you stopped reporting about your status. :Up_to_something: Congrats on your BFP!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: Good luck at your first appointment next week!

MP, when I tried calling my OB's office asking about getting my progesterone tested at 7DPO, the nurse I talked to said they usually didn't run that test either. Actually, she ended up telling me "I don't know why you're so concerned about the test - you either get pregnant or you don't." :o I was so offended after hearing that, I had to just say "okay, thank you" and hang up. That nurse and I share the same first name too, which made it even more annoying to me. Anyways, I would just try to keep pushing your doctor to let you do the test, emphasizing that you have a very high suspicion that your progesterone is low due to your multiple days of spotting before AF. Maybe even throw in some stuff about how your temps in your LP don't stay up as high as they should, etc. Good luck!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Oooh congrats to all the latest BFPers!! :appl: China - yayy!!! I totally understand how you feel.
