I posted recently, asking your opinions on two dresses: the Becca (Melissa Sweet) and the Rosette (Carolina Herrera) dresses. My sister in law has amazingly offered to buy my wedding gown as my wedding gift. She took me to Carolina Herrera in NY to try dresses on. At this point, despite how much i love the Becca and all of your amazing comments, my family and I feel it would be much more meaningful, since she is giving this to me as a gift, to pick a gown that we tried on together. This means the Becca is ruled out :-( I am ok with that, but want to get going on decisions about the others. In my previous post, I posted pics of the Rosette dress. At this point it is between that one and this Ruffle dress (also from Carolina Herrera). Most of my female relatives like the Rosette better, although when I went shopping with my sister in law, she preferred the Ruffle dress and said it make me "come to life".

Here is my previous thread (I am not sure how to make it a link), and here are pics of the ruffle dress.

Previous thread with pics of the Rosette and the ruled out Becca :-(

Back shot of internet model.

Also, the neckline of the dress can be made into sweetheart OR straight. On me, they had pinned the too big dress to be sweetheart. On the model you see the straight neckline

I have to agree with your sister in law!! The Ruffle dress is so unique and special...I really do prefer that one over the Rosette!! Good luck with your decision!!

I love the new dress. It looks amazing on you!

Here''s a pic of the Rosette dress, competitor to the Ruffle dress

I'm gonna have to disagree with your SIL- I'd choose the Rosette. I think this new dress has too much going on at the bust, to be honest, and you've got too killer a figure to wear a dress that'd distract from it.

In conclusion: The Rosette. It has beautiful detailing but doesn't overwhelm.

OK no contest!!!!!! The Ruffle dress is sooooo stunning and I just think the other one is kind of "meh." What a lovely gift from your sister in law!! Too bad my husband doesn''t have a generous sister like that ;D

one more of Rosette

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THE RUFFLES! this is the dumbest thing ever i will freely admit, but those dangly things on the rosette dress bother me because they remind me of a lariat, so for some reason, i keep picturing chuck norris a la walker texas ranger wearing that dress! by no means should this be any kind of deterrent if you love the dress because, like i said, it''s possibly the dumbest thought ever voiced on pricescope, but i just had to share my idiocy!

So, although I think the ruffle dress is really fun and more lively, the comments I got from some girlfriends, sisters, and my brother were that they thought it looked like a prom dress and was a "bit too much". Do you guys think it looks like an 80''s prom dress? That''s definitely not the look I am going for. I can see where they are coming from, but I see so much more in it than that.

The thing that is SO hard is that I tried these on in NY, and flew up there just for the weekend. I have to make my decision now without trying anything on a second time.

You are too funny. Believe it or not, that is EXACTLY what came to mind when I tried it on, and I quickly pushed that thought away. I didn''t even know the name of that thing...lariat!! hahaha

I like both dresses - you have a great figure!

This new one, though... you don''t look very thrilled while wearing it. When I found my dress I knew by looking back through the pictures - not only did the dress look great, but I was "glowing". I was happy and smiling and you could tell I loved the dress. And while the dress looks great, I can''t tell that you love it.

If you do, of course, completely discount what I said and ignore me!

There''s one more Caroina Herrera dress that I will post from home tonight (let''s call it the Satin one). I have the pics here at work, but not the capability to minimize them for web My sister loves this Satin one, but I am not sure it''s as flattering as ruffles or rosette. I will post it later tonight.

xo,
Bright.

I prefer the Rosette. The ruffle dress is just a little too big for my taste, and I think the Rosette looks more flattering with its more streamlined appearance. So long as the "lariat" doesn''t look like one in real life (I had that image from the pics too!), that''s the one I''d pick! But really, as the others said, you would probably look great in many dresses so go with the one you most love...or keep looking if you don''t love either yet!

JSM,

Did you see my previous thread with the Becca dress? Maybe it''s just my face scrutinizing a dress, I don''t know. But, I loved the Becca dress. If you look at my previous thread (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/its-between-these-two-dresses-the-becca-and-the-rosette-dress-please-help.100310/ ), does it look like I LOVE this one or does my face look the same as in Ruffles?

I don't agree that it looks like an 80s prom dress, but I do agree with the "bit too much" comments. I like the detailing at bottom- it's the ruffle at the top that's overwhelming.

A bride should be the shining star IN the dress, and the ruffle dress (IMO) wears you. Does that make sense?

i prefer the ruffle dress! It''s beautiful on you.

Yeah, that does make sense. I defiitely hear what you are saying. Hmmm....will go to my other thread and see what you said about BEcca. I wonder if I am making a mistake going with the sentimental gown and discounting the Becca because my sister in law and I didn''t find it together. When I told her I was going to go with one of the Carolina Herrera ones, she sounded SO happy and please.

Ebree, does that mean you like the Rosette better than Ruffles?

EBree,
One more question. Did you feel the same way about the internet model shots of the ruffle dress (as though the dress were "wearing her") too? Just trying to get a sense of whether it the actual ruffle dress that made you feel that way or the fact that the specific ruffle dress I have on is too long and big (not my size).

Definitely.

Is visiting a boutique that carries the Becca near your SIL (so you can try it on with her) an option?

I prefer the ruffle dress over the rosette one, but I love the becca one on you, and it sounds as though that would be your first choice too if it weren''t for the fact that you didn''t pick it out with your sil. Personally, I would buy the one you love. I am sure she will understand and will just be happy that you have a dress you absolutely love. Sounds like you have a great sil!

Oh I LOVE the ruffle dress. It''s so stunning and unique I am totally amazed. Honestly, no contest. I never liked the Rosette dress at all, compared to the Becca dress. And I like the ruffle dress more then the Becca. I think it''s by far the nicest dress. And you are going to stun the wedding crowd. I really hope you end up chossing the ruffle dress so we can see more pictures but fitted to your body...

I love LOVE LOVE the ruffle dress!!

The ruffle dress is gorgeous! I much prefer it over the Rosette!

love, love, love the ruffle dress! I think your sister-in-law is right it totally "sings" on you!
